Week 10, Capstone II
Goals: Reflect after final crit, do a little more research in light of it, and make final changes, committee work

This week was a bit of a breather for me and mainly involved some light research and organizing my thoughts on critique- what to change and what to keep.
Beyond, I did a lot of work iterating different designs for the graphics committee, focusing mainly on potential flyers.
I took Nancy's advice and revisited Mark Dion's Field Station of the Melancholy Marina Biologist at Governor's Island on Saturday morning. Unfortunately, there was also a half marathon so that was mildly disturbing.

Very cool. Wish I had his budget but alas....
In line with this, I also revisited my visual research of late 90s desks so make sure i was being authentic towards the era.

All of these are dated between 1990 and 2000 and mostly come from people's uploads to reddit or flickr.
I also laser cut some facades for the models inside the model to add a little visual interest and detail to indicate what the objects are.

Beyond that, I got my amazon supplies and could put those in the relevant spots, like attaching the IDs to the lanyard, connecting the headphones, and arranging the cotton gloves.
I also obtained a few miscellaneous items, like VHS tapes (probably won't include), a filing cabinet, a corkboard, more books, and some items i attained while urban spelunking.

Openings and Conclusions 6 by Russell Moreton Via Flickr: Collage on paper, written fragments and images from Peter Greenaway, Josef Albers and Robin Evans. Photo montage of The Physical Self (Greenaway) and Waverley Abbey UK. Visual research as part of The Waverley Project/Obscura and Reading Room. On the horizon, then, at the furthest edge of the possible, it is a matter of producing the space of the human species-the collective (generic) work of the species-on the model of what used to be called "art" ; indeed, it is still so called, but art no longer has any meaning at the level of an "object" isolated by and for the individual. "- but with whom can you sit in water?"
and who can hop in the bath with you to make a show of not caring about your tattoos, and how can you not find it hard to hide your disdain at the attempt.
because either this is a trap you have blindly walked into again . . . or he really does love you and could have loved you all this time. and despite all that-
you cannot turn from the path that you are on.
#fallen hero#fhr#fallen hero: retribution#fallen hero: revelations#ricardo ortega#sidestep#chargestep#dion bishop#my art#ok i did not realise the revelations demo was out so teehee i haven't played it yet#i have such a clear image of elena’s farm. refurbed a bit and lots of colour. ortega put in the bars himself hence the new plaster#and dion having an en suite and like struggling so much with being unable to just run away. and that people(especially ortega) have seen hi#pre-reveal dion is cagey but he’s definitely softer with ortega cause there was that barrier and almost dream-like curtain that#dion could go ‘i can have this much#cause anything real will never happen’. and then everything is too real. and dion is just trying to have a bath and he’s trying not to#be repulsed by his own body and markings. and the fact he can’t just escape if he needs to.#and then ortega is barging in and kinda making a show of how not-bothered he is by dion’s markings which manages to annoy dion more#i think dion is more..caustic(?) during this time. at first. because he kinda can’t accept the reality that ortega is fine with it#and it’s very self-sabotagey. that curtain is gone and so that softness is too.#but of course ortega persists and starts getting to dion proper#^these are tags are from when i posted the very first sketch of this in like september skjdghdjk#AND ALSO so sos so so happy with how this came out#shouout to my friend anonbea who gave me sooooo many helpful tips with this piece#it's very ambitious for me and i got overwhelmed once or twice but IM JUST REALLY HAPPY#hope to keep this momentum up and do more interactive + bg pieces

Rough Sketch - Dion and Terence 18 y.o.
The scene is based on info from Ultimania - Dion protects Terence in battle and is severely injured when they're 18
The plan is to clean this up traditionally and ink it for inktober, but If that doesn't pan out, I'll just "ink" it digitally 😅

#tw: blood#tw: violence#ffxvi#ff16#dion lesage#terence#fanart#sketch#I don't think they quite look 18 here but I'll try again when I redraw this traditionally haha#blood = lots of random scritchscratch marks

i have many asks but first. i am diongisu trash. give me. your dion-raised-as-a-child-actor meeting gisu. she has a crush on him, is he more charming and suave? Does he like her, or is he surrounded by starlets and more arrogant?
"You know that guy's probably secretly a stuck-up jerk, right?" Morris comments, as Gisu slips the poster into her bag.
"Don't care, he's hot." Gisu shrugs. "And I'm only meeting him long enough to get an autograph, it's not gonna change my life or anything." She's attempting to be nonchalant, but if the quirk of Morris' eyebrows are any indication, then the tweenage girl inside her currently squealing and kicking her feet in excitement is as obvious as the sun in the sky.
Well, whatever. Gisu doesn't need Morris' approval. She does kind of need Hollis' approval, but since it's a junior psychonaut mission and thus mostly just surveilance of a spot for the sake of familiarizing themselves with long-term stakeouts, there's plenty of free time to levboard down to the meet and greet and get in line. So she goes, and gets in line, and waits as it slowly moves forwards to her goal.
Dionysus Carlisle's perfectly cordial with fans, winning smile plastered on his face as he signs the poster and writes a snappy little comment for her, putting a star over the i's and turning the o's into a hearts.
Standing so close to him—wow, he's tall—and his pretty face with clear skin and square jaw and piercing blue eyes all framed by dark curls that are so unfairly pretty on him—it makes Gisu feel like she's going to explode. She'd brushed her hair on the way here, her clothes are clean and she knows her acne's barely there right now, but there's still a massive difference between her in a casual outfit and Dionysus dolled up by a whole team of cosmetologists. It's enough to make a girl feel small under the excitement rattling around her ribcage.
Gisu had accidentally used the back of the poster as scrap paper for math homework a couple months back, and as she's carefully rolling up the poster to hold it more safely Dionysus notices and comments,
"Long division, huh? Guess you must be pretty smart."
His thoughts are opaque, unreadable behind his smile. Not that Gisu's in any state to try reading his mind anyway, her breath lodging in her throat and her feet briefly leaving the ground as she stares at Dionysus—
"Next!" And then Gisu's gently moved along by security to make room for the next girl, autograph book clasped in slender, delicate hands perfectly washed and free of scars or scuffs, polished and perfectly round nails painted bubblegum pink. The momentum of the line keeps Gisu moving, heart pounding in her chest and thoughts chasing their own tails as she wanders blindly towards the bus stop.
That was... wow.
Gisu shakes her head. Her feet are firmly planted on the ground—she slips her levboard off her back and gets on, pushing off with little effort. Carefully, she tucks the poster into her bag—it'll fit neatly between her All-Paul and Marie Curie posters once she gets back to her dorm.
That's still three days away, though—she's still got that mission to complete.
#ask zaz#brain-bumbler#psychonauts#gisu nariman#dion aquato#concept#zaz writes#uh okay so to ACTUALLY answer your question: dion does have an ego but it's a) entirely (& precariously) based on how good he is at his job#and b) not part of his ''meeting eager fans'' persona#like. he's still a bit cocky even with fans but he's also been trained to be as nice to them as possible (and it's mostly genuine!)#also as for whether dion likes her. he does not YET. give it a day and an accidental involvement in a not-for-juniors-anymore mission#and THEN he'll be crushing#but until then gisu's just kind of interesting by dint of letting some of her gremlinness shine through (like‚ say‚ marks on her hands)
