Knockout is an amazing episode of Castle, yes its sad and heart-stopping, literally on Kate's part. Crossfire, on the other hand, shouldn't have ended like that no one should have to watch their 2 favorite characters crawl to each other in their final moments. The 7 year thing at the end was also weird it felt like they were trying to satisfy us fans at the last minute.

Achilles Castle part 53

Part 5

Castle: pov the nurse helps unplug Kate from the monitors so she can visit Tina and her Baby in the maternity ward. I'm using my crutches. Kate is allowed to walk there. The nurse is pushing a wheelchair just in case it is needed she is taking us to Tina's room. Once in her room I sit in the wheelchair and Kate sits in the chair in the room. Tina's husband is also in the room.

Kate: pov I ask if I can hold the baby and Tina says yes you can hold Beckett. It just hits me all of a sudden the emotions and the fact that she named her baby after me. Lanie comes over and hugs me telling me it's okay let it out, I start crying. Tina's husband Hank asks if everything is okay. We didn't mean to upset you by naming the baby after you. No that's not it, I say while rubbing my chest I don't know if I will ever be able to have children.

Hank: pov I'm sorry to hear that my sister knows a great fertility Dr I can give you his number if you want. Lanie says thanks but that is not necessary. It's not a fertility issue, Kate says it's because of my heart, oh it makes sense. She says her Dr's are not sure if it would be safe for her to get pregnant. I hand baby Beckett over to Captain Beckett, she looks so happy holding the baby. If you don't mind me asking, were you born with a heart condition?

Kate: pov no I wasn't, Hank says so you developed it later in life. Yeah I was shot in the heart/chest at a funeral. Hank seems surprised, saying how awful that must have been. Me and Lanie explain everything to them. After talking for a while we headed back to my room.

Lanie: pov a nurse came in to check Kate's vitals and bring her dinner. Me and Castle are eating some burritos from the cafeteria downstairs. Kate is starting to fall asleep, I move her hair out of her face. Castle is on his phone writing, I sneak out to make some calls while she sleeps. Kate sleeps for a few hours and a nurse wakes her up by accident checking her vitals.

Castle: pov the nurse hands me the remote so I can put a movie on for Kate. Which she falls asleep through. It's starting to rain outside, a storm must be nearby. Me and Lanie are going to sleep her in the recliner and me in the extra bed in the room. I'm startled awake by a very loud crack of thunder then a thump it sounded like something banging on the floor. I can't see Kate in bed. She is on the floor shaking, she looks in pain and in distress, her monitor is making a noise and she is hyperventilating and struggling to breathe. Lanie manages to carefully wake Kate up then grabs an oxygen mask and puts it on Kate's face, I manage to make it to the call button and hit it. A nurse is immediately in the room. I can see the fear in Kate's eyes.

Kate: pov I hear the shot and then feel like I'm falling, it must be Castle shoving me out of the way. The pain is too much, it's hard to breathe. I can hear Lanie saying it's just a dream.

Lanie: pov She looks freaked out and panicked. Kate it was just a bad dream. You're okay, the storm must have triggered you. The nurse seeing Kate on the floor and blood on her arm from the iv that got yanked out runs to get a Dr. Castle is putting pressure on the spot that is bleeding since Kate's cuts usually bleed a lot. Once he arrives I explain to him the situation, the nurse inserts a new Iv and puts a bandage on her arm. Dr Steinbeck gives her some heart meds and says keep her on the oxygen for a bit. Kate says through labored breathing wet, the Dr asks what she means. I ask Kate if she feels wet she says yes. It suddenly clicks that she had an accident during her nightmare. Now that the light is on I can see the bed is wet, me and the nurse are going to clean Kate up. Once she has calmed down enough she looks very embarrassed. In the shower Kate is leaning on me and holding on to me for dear life. I tell her she has to let go so we can clean her up. An orderly is changing her sheets once back in bed her blood is drawn to test for urinary infection. Dr Steinbeck gives her medication to help calm her down. Castle, with the help of a nurse, gets in bed with Kate in hopes it will calm her down. A few minutes later and her vitals look good she eventually falls asleep laying on Castle who she is using as a pillow.

Dr Steinbeck: pov in the morning I want to get an ultrasound of her bladder just to make sure nothing is going on there. It's now morning, I'm back in Kate's room to check on her. The nurse says her oxygen saturation was great all night without oxygen since she removed her from it after i left last night. Kate is still sleeping. I ask Castle and Lanie to come into the hallway. I need to talk to them, I mention we need to run some heart tests on top of the bladder ones. Castle asks why can't you see it was the nightmare that caused this. I tell him I understand that but it could also be a sign of something serious like heart failure or a bladder infection.

Castle: pov Kate is being taken for an ultrasound of her bladder and a few other tests. We should have the results later. She is eating low fat yogurt with fruit for breakfast. To be continued. ………

Achilles Castle part 19

Chief Brady: pov I get off the phone with their parents who are very angry. Their parents finally arrive to pick them up, I tell them your sons are very lucky because Kate is not pressing charges. But they will have to pick up trash from the beach for a week as a punishment. Lanie says she is going to take her to the ER as a precaution. Castle calls ahead to let them know Lanie is bringing Kate in. Esposito offers to drive them there Jim is going with them. After talking with Kate for a few minutes the boys apologize. After the boys leave Lanie says to Bronson she will keep him updated.

Kate: pov Alexis runs upstairs and gets me some clothes i can change into Lanie helps me change into the shirt and pants and out of my bathing suit. Esposito is carrying me out to the car. He is driving us there, the ride to the hospital is short since there is not much traffic. Esposito finds a parking spot in the ER parking lot. Lanie helps me out of the car, Esposito is carrying me inside the hospital since I don't feel good. At the front desk my dad is handed forms to fill out. Dr Crane and nurse Suzanne are waiting for us. I'm taken into an exam room, the walls are a pretty yellow color. They mention the scans I had last time I was here looked good concussion wise, so they are not worried about that.

Dr Crane: pov Lanie fills me in on what happened, Esposito puts Kate on the exam table, nurse Suzanne grabs a blood pressure cuff to check her blood pressure. She then checks Kate's temperature, Suzanne hooks Kate up to the heart and pulse ox-meter and checks her other vitals. Lanie mentions she gave her a dose of her meds at the house. I listen to her heart and lungs, I suggest we take Kate for some scan to see how everything is looking.

Nurse Suzanne: pov Kate is taken to the scan room on the cardiac ward. Once she is settled on the exam bed/table. I start the EKG and put the wires/leads on her chest and start the machine. Dr Crane says It is slightly elevated but not too bad. Next Is the Echocardiogram, the ultrasound machine is brought over. Dr Crane squirts the cold gel on Kate's chest and moves the wand around over her heart. So far so good, he pages for a specialist to come look Kate over.

Dr Wendy Blair: pov Dr Crane asked if I could look at his heart patient. In the exam room I'm introduced to Kate, her father Jim, and her friends Lanie and Esposito. Before I examine Kate I ask some general health questions. I've been informed that Kate has a heart condition. Lanie says yes Kate has a form of ventricular tachycardia in her left ventricle. I ask how long she has had it Lanie mentions a few years. I ask if anyone else in her family has heart problems, Lanie tells me Kate has previous chest trauma from a shooting years ago it was at her Captain's funeral she was giving the eulogy when it happened. Requiring her to have emergency heart surgery.

Kate: pov The Dr is concerned because I may have swallowed some water at the beach and he wants me to make sure my lungs are clear. Dr Wendy Blair asks if I have any lung or breathing problems. Lanie is telling the Dr. How i have an issue with my left pulmonary vein and have had a collapsed lung before on the left side. Lanie mentions that my immune system is not that great. Dr Wendy Blair listens to my lungs which sound fine, she orders a chest x-ray for me just to make sure my lungs are clear. And IV is inserted into my arm.

Lanie: pov they are taking her for a chest x-ray I follow the gurney to the scan room. I'm waiting with the technician in the booth, Kate did so amazing. Dr Crane mentions for the time being Kate is being admitted for monitoring until he gets the scan results. The specialist Dr Wendy Blair has to look at them, in her room Kate is getting comfortable. The specialist and Dr Crane walk in Kate's room to go over the scans with us. They say everything looks good, they just want to monitor her until lunch, because of her cardiac history. Dr Burkett is being updated by Dr Crane on how she is doing. Esposito updates Castle and the rest of the group, I mention our group had plans for after lunch. We were going to the mall so Sarah Grace, our co-workers daughter, could go to build a bear workshop. Both Doctors said depending on how it goes with Kate it should be fine as long as Kate takes it easy.

Jim: pov Dr Wendy Blair wants to give Katie some preventive meds since she has a weak immune system. Once the meds are in Katie is asleep, Esposito is going to get us food while Katie sleeps. Dr Wendy mentions walking will help Katie but keep it short. Esposito arrives back at the hospital with tacos for us 3. The food is amazing.

Martha: pov Ryan is making sandwiches for lunch with chips on the side. Castle says Katherine should be back after lunch from what Esposito said. The Dr's said everything looks good but we will have to keep a close eye on Kate.

Ryan: pov I grab stuff out of the fridge to make sandwiches for the group, Alexis and Sarah Grace are filling the cups up with peach tea. All of us sit down at the dining room table to eat, we chat while we eat. Sarah Grace is saying how much fun she is having at the beach.

Esposito: pov Kate is now up Dr Wendy Blair and Dr Crane are saying Kate's vitals look great. A nurse brings in some oatmeal for her to eat. Both Dr's mention keeping a close eye on Kate in case she develops symptoms. If you feel like she needs it you can always ask the mall for a wheelchair or she can use Castle's if he is using his crutches. Lanie and the Dr's go over possible things Kate could get from her swallowing the water. Lanie mentions the possible symptoms she might have if she gets sick. To be continued. ……….

Achilles Castle part 14

Dave: pov The burritos and rice bowls look amazing too, the tortilla chips with cheese are fantastic. All of us fill our plates full of food, I fill mine and Alexis's cup up with soda. We chat about our plans for the weekend. After dinner Lanie is on the phone with Dr Burkett trying to decide if she should give Kate another benadryl pill, she still looks a little rashy but not bad it's going away. Lanie gives her some benadryl, a few minutes later and Kate is asleep on the sofa.

Esposito: pov me and Ryan are done for the Day. It was a slow day with mostly paperwork. I ordered a sub on the way home for dinner. Once home I ate my sub and drank my coffee. I don't need a big suitcase, instead I use a duffle bag and fill it with my stuff. I picked some music for the car ride. It should not be too bad the ride to the beach house.

Jenny: pov I have everything packed for the weekend. I picked up a pizza pie that way when Ryan gets home we can eat then hit the road, he packed his bag last night. I have Sarah Grace in her pj's because it will be more comfortable for her in the car, I hope she naps or watches a movie the whole way there. After we eat Ryan starts loading the car up then we hit the road. Sarah Grace spent the whole car ride watching the movie I put on for her. Esposito is unloading his car in the driveway as we pull in. Being pregnant is hard. I walk inside with Sarah Grace who is sleepy. Esposito is chatting with Lanie, she is talking about Kate's rash and how she had to give her two doses of benadryl. Castle is telling Ryan which room to put the bags in and pointing to the bathroom for me since I have to pee.

Ryan: pov from what Lanie told us earlier Kate's rash is looking so much better, she seems like she is barely awake must be the benadryl it does that to you makes you very sleepy. Alexis hands out the gifts she got us today on the submarine thing. Everyone heads outside to roast marshmallows and have smores. It's such a pretty night the group is chatting and having a good time. Alexis is updating us with everything that happened to her dad and Kate health wise. Sarah Grace is asleep on me, I pick her up and head upstairs to put her to bed. Kate is also asleep with a blanket covering her.

Martha: pov it's morning and I'm in charge of breakfast Katherine is looking so much better and offers to help me, she is making the waffles while I make the eggs and bacon. Alexis and Dave are pouring orange juice and coffee into cups and getting the syrups out. Katherine is drinking decaf coffee. Castle takes his pain pill and wheels himself to the table for breakfast. He goes over today's plans with everyone.

Alexis: pov I'm outside in my bathing suit with the rest of our group, dad is relaxing and reading a book. Gram and Papa Jim are sitting in the shade chatting. Sarah Grace, who is wearing water wings, is trying to convince Kate to get in the pool. Lanie grabs Kate's life jacket and hands it to her to put on. Me and Dave also get in the pool, Jenny asks Kate if she has to wear the life jacket every time she is in the pool. Lanie says anywhere there is a lot of water like a pool, ocean or lake. Her type of arrhythmia which is usually triggered by something causes breathing trouble and other symptoms, that is why she needs to be careful near a pool. Me and Dave are playing with Sarah Grace in the pool while the girls talk.

Kate: pov Esposito suggests we take a short walk until lunch. I tell him, let me ask Lanie if it's okay. Martha, Jenny and Jim offer to keep Castle company at the house. I change into shorts and a t-shirt Alexis passes out water bottles before we leave the house. Ryan says if Sarah Grace gets tired he will Carry her. We walked for a bit. I'm allowed to move around more and I'm allowed to get my heart rate elevated more. My heart condition is classified as ventricular tachycardia, my left ventricle which is not as strong as the right one works extra hard sometimes to keep up causing my left ventricle to become tachycardic. If it's a really bad episode my right ventricular which works fine will also turn tachycardic, which is scary. I also have an issue with my pulmonary vein. Since only one of my ventricles has an issue I can continue on with my normal life. That's why the left side of my chest always has pain during a heart episode.

Jim: pov Me and Jenny are starting to make lunch pasta salad with watermelon, corn on the cob and hot dogs which Ryan and Esposito are grilling since they are back from the walk. Katie is setting the table while Martha pours the peach tea into cups. Once everyone has filled their plates we start talking, Castle says after lunch is the perfect time to hit the fair. That way Sarah Grace can enjoy the rides and games.

Castle: pov Alexis gave me my pain pill during lunch. Since the car only holds 7 people we are taking 2 cars. In Ryan's car is Esposito who is in the passenger seat and Jenny and Sarah Grace in the back seat. In my car is Dave who is driving. I'm in the passenger seat giving him directions in the second row are Jim and Martha. In the back row is Alexis, Lanie and Kate. At the fair Dave is finding a parking spot and so is Ryan. Achilles Castle part 12

Alexis: pov the movie is good so far, I pause the movie so I can make popcorn for the whole family, Dad, Kate and Lanie are having movie theater butter flavor. Martha likes the caramel flavor and So does Jim. Me and Dave are having the triple cheddar flavor. Once the popcorn is done I add the flavors and put it in bowls. I grabbed 2 sodas from the fridge for us both and some candy we bought the other day. The movie just ended. It's starting to get late, Dave leans in and kisses me goodnight.

Kate: pov i showered earlier in the night before i sat outside with Castle I can feel someone waking me up, it's Lanie saying it's late and I need to get to bed. In the bathroom I brush my teeth after her then head to bed. I'm having a hard time sleeping. Maybe it's because Castle isn't sleeping next to me. In the morning I take my meds then hop in the shower. Lanie already took her shower. She is wearing a peach colored shirt and tan shorts. My shampoo/body wash is strawberry scented. Once I'm done I change into a coral tank top and Grey shorts. Lanie has me lay on the bed so she can change my ampstrip. While looking in the mirror I rub scar cream into my scars, then take my pills then head downstairs.

Castle: pov Kate helps me get dressed in a blue t-shirt and black shorts. Mother is making pancakes for everyone, Kate is having yogurt with her pancake. Me and Lanie talked about how the guy from cardiac rehabilitation might not want us around. I took my pain pill with food right now. l take 4 doses a day, 1 with every meal and one before bed. Alexis and Dave are heading to the beach so they can have some alone time and Kate can have space to exercise, and not be bothered. The guy shows up, as Alexis and Dave finish packing a cooler with snacks and water then head out to the beach. His name is Carter, he has Kate sit on the sofa so they can go over a few things before they start. He listens to heart and lungs, and says everything looks good to start working out. Since it's not too hot they can start outside. He says Lanie told him on the phone you have a pool. I say yes.

Cardiac rehabilitator Carter: pov I ask Lanie if Kate is allowed in the pool. Lanie says yes she took a cardiac pool safety class. They both change into bathing suits, so do I. Back outside her dad is reading a book outside on the porch while Martha is talking to Castle. Lanie grabs a life jacket and helps Kate put it on. She said Kate uses an ampstrip to monitor her heart rate. I decided to have Castle open the app and keep an eye on the numbers I tell him if it goes over a certain number tell me. The 3 of us get in the pool, the water is a nice temperature. I start off by having her float on her back moving her arms until she makes it to the other side. I notice her left arm is not as good as the right. Lanie says her left arm was recently injured and explains everything. I mention to Lanie that her left arm doesn't extend as far as the other one. After swimming two laps around the pool. We hop out of the pool. I have Kate sit down so I can check her vitals, they look good so far. Once Kate is laying on the floor I bend her legs until they reach close to her chest area. I do this a few times. I then move onto her arms bending and moving them.

Lanie: pov Carter suggests Kate bike ride during the mornings or nights when it is not as hot it will help her keep her strength up. He says riding a motorcycle does not count, after a couple more exercises and stretches its time for Carter to leave. Alexis and Dave arrive back saying they stopped for ice pops and some crunch bar type ones. I read the back to make sure Kate can have them. She grabs a yellow one which looks like a pineapple flavored one, they are made with real fruit juice. Alexis and Dave both have a crunch bar ice pop. Kate decides to go upstairs for a nap since we are leaving after lunch.

Martha: pov I suggest Richard take a nap until lunch, he has ordered some restaurant food to be delivered for lunch which sounds amazing. Alexis and Dave are in Richard's office downloading photos from their phones onto a storage app to save space on their phones. Jim is relaxing and reading a book outside on the porch. Lanie is on the phone talking to Esposito, I go upstairs to read some lines. Lunch should be here soon.

Castle: pov I only napped for a few minutes, I grabbed my computer from the table in front of me to get some writing done, I managed to write a few pages. I grab my water bottle from the table in front of me. I also check my social media apps and reply to a few friends who have texted me today asking how I'm doing. It is decided Ryan, Jenny and Sarah Grace are going to sleep in the guest room. Dave will be sleeping on an air mattress in Alexis's room she promised to behave. Esposito will be sleeping in the guest room that Dave had been sleeping in.

Kate: pov I'm awoken to a funny feeling my skin is a little itchy. I just want to scratch it so bad. Which is starting to freak me out. Lanie comes into the room saying she knew I was up. Esposito, Ryan, Jenny and Sarah grace are coming tomorrow morning just before lunch. She must have just gotten off the phone with Esposito. Lanie says let's get you downstairs so I can look at you better because you don't look so good. To be continued. …….
