Unforgettable Romance: Exploring the Best Couple Tour Packages to Jamaica and Hawaii
Whether you're newlyweds looking for a dreamy honeymoon or a couple celebrating a special anniversary, Jamaica and Hawaii offer some of the world's most romantic couple tour packages and all inclusive travel packages. With stunning natural scenery, luxurious resorts, exciting activities, and rich culture, these two gorgeous island destinations promise to bring you closer together and create lifelong memories. In this blog, we'll highlight some of the best deals and trip ideas for couples wanting to get away to Jamaica or Hawaii.
Tumblr media
Jamaica: Reggae Rhythms and Tropical Tranquility
Known for its laidback vibes, flavorful jerk cuisine, and sandy stretches of beach, Jamaica has long been a favorite tropical locale for enamored duos. Today, countless couple tour packages to Jamaica with resorts cater to lovebirds with amenities like overwater bungalows, private beach dinners, couple massages, and sunset catamaran cruises. Whether you're looking for an active, adventurous trip or pure relaxation, Jamaica delivers.
Some top trip ideas and package deals for couples include:
Negril beachfront all inclusive hotels with benefits such as Champagne breakfasts in bed and cocktail mixing classes held outside while breathing in the fresh ocean air as a hint for the spa treatments for two. Generally, the greater community in the area offers free wedding packages and vow renewals to veterans and their spouses.
Luxurious vacations of the mountains of Ocho Rios, where one can have private infinity pools, secluded villas, and scenic attractions like Dunn's River Falls, are not only fun but also a memorable experience. As with a spa treatment and a personal yoga class, completing the zen vibe.
Jamaica follows wellness trends having concrete, nature, yoga, and clean eating retreats. All of them center around the two main partners either enjoying a meditative experience together or going through art therapy, counseling services, and communication games.
Guests taking a well-rounded day hike will have the choice of the romantic coffee plantation inn or bungalows as a stay. Chose to get immersed more in rum, coffee tasting and authentic Land Rover adventure tours.
Hawaii: The Epitome of American Paradise
With its postcard-worthy beaches, volcanic peaks, luxe resorts, and vibrant aloha culture, Hawaii sets the gold standard for American tropical getaways. Luckily for lovebirds, Hawaii also offers endless couple tour packages catering to every interest, budget, and personality - from surfers to honeymooners.
Top Hawaii couple trip ideas include:
A classic multi-island honeymoon package to Hawaii, hitting highlights like Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, the Road to Hana, Volcano National Park, and the island of Kauai. Most offer newlywed extras like champagne, massages, and private excursions.
Luxury wellness retreats on the peaceful island of Lanai, with health-focused amenities like guided meditation, yoga by the sea, spa treatments for two, and farm-to-table dining. Reconnect with nature and each other as you unplug completely.
Beachfront condo rentals on Maui with full kitchens and amenities for independent couples wanting a home base for exploring the island's treasures like Haleakala, the Road to Hana, and snorkeling Molokini crater.
A surf camp getaway on Oahu's famed North Shore, where you'll take lessons together, enjoy sunsets by the sea, and soak up the vibrant surf culture alongside world-class waves and beaches.
Tips for Booking the Ultimate Couple's Getaway
The one venom is the one that can spell the success of a couple's romantic getaway or the one poison that can break it. Here are some tips for picking the perfect escape:
It is wise to know what your must-haves and deal breakers are from the beginning - If seeing something new and exciting is what you want or you prefer a relaxed atmosphere. Do you care more about whether you stay in cozy little boutique hotels or big splashy resorts? This will allow you to limit your choices to breeds compatible with your circumstances.
You have an easy tool on hand, comparison shopping! - Thus, don’t book the first package you see. Use websites like TripAdvisor to review deals and discover special offers. From learner to learner: Engaging with fellow language learners through platforms such as community chat groups, online forums, or language exchange apps can not only provide emotional support but also practical feedback and motivation.
One very important element to consider when comparing package pricing is airfare and transportation costs.
Be sure to get into the fine prints into exactly what they're offering - some deals may sound like they are giving so much that they are malicious and often don't include taxes, fees, tips or certain activities.
Travel insurance would be a good idea, even for more peace of mind, especially during the storm.
Go for containment systems that offer adaptation with optional variations in case the initial plan does not work.
Whether you select beachside or retreat in the middle of the forest, Jamaica and Hawaii will take your relationship to the next level and bring the two of you closer. As your relationship develops, the memories and experiences are certain to last a lifetime! Instead of staying at home, choose our vacation journeys to extraordinary places and escape the ordinary now. Immediately book your couple's vacation of a lifetime!

Day 7: A Last Day of Leisure By The Pool and Beach
Sadly, today was our last day in Maui and we were determined to make the most of the limited time we had left before our red-eye flight back to Los Angeles. Because Cynthia had to get up for an early morning start for her interview, I did the same and decided to get out of bed at sunrise to maximize my morning.
While Cynthia was interviewing, I went downstairs to the beach to see how things looked at sunrise. As I headed down and looked around, I realized that sunrise was definitely not as exciting as sunset on the westside of Maui. Something else I noticed was that the sidewalks behind the hotel, the beaches, and the pool area at the resort were, surprisingly, already starting to get busy even though it wasn’t yet 7:00am. I briefly strolled along Kaanapali Beach and took in the view of the beach before it got too crowded and too busy. What beautiful morning weather to enjoy on our last day!
Once I was done with the beach, I walked back to the resort to see the grounds in the daylight. I roamed around the pool grounds and took a look at some of the five pools. I checked out the flamingos, parrots, and coy fish in the ponds near the hotel lobby before rounding back to scout out an area that we could claim next to the pool for the morning. Luckily, though the pool area was starting to get busy and some people had scoped out their spots, there were still plenty of pool chairs left for us to pick from. So, while waiting for Cynthia to finish up and come down, I chose two pool chairs positioned in the sun knowing that it might get too cool if it gets too shady next to the pool.
Before long, Cynthia came down to join me by the pool. After securing our pool towels for the day, we chilled in the sun next to the pool before I decided to take a dip in the biggest pool in the area: the family pool. I jumped in and swam in the cool water for 45 minutes or so. Because it was still early in the morning, the big kid slide in the middle of the property was not yet open for use, so I just swam around in the pool (because I didn’t have any pool equipment to mess around with) until it was time for brunch. It was really nice to finally jump in a pool after a couple of failed attempts over the last few days.
After grabbing some complimentary tote bags from the Westin on our way up to get ready for breakfast, we cleaned up before finally heading over to Down The Hatch again, this time for a much-anticipated breakfast. Since the restaurant stops serving breakfast pretty early and lines are a known thing at Down The Hatch, we made sure we got there with plenty of time so as to not miss out on their yummy breakfast menu. And luckily, the line wasn’t too bad by the time we arrived. For breakfast, we had their Spinach Avocado Benny and Southern Style Chicken Benny, each served with deliciously crispy home fries, and an order of Banana Bread Mini French Toast with Lilikoi Cream Cheese. Oh my goodness. This breakfast was OH SO GOOD!
We took our time enjoying our very delicious breakfast before turning around and heading to the Royal Lahaina for our very-well-deserved massage sessions we had been looking forward to. When we first booked this trip, we knew we wanted to splurge on some nice spa massages to reward us for the last few difficult months of work and job hunting. Ultimately, after looking around at options and prices, Cynthia decided that going with the massages at the Royal Lahaina would be most economical. Because Cynthia’s session was scheduled before mine (because we couldn’t book a couples massage), I dropped her off so that I could head to the Westin to check out of our room. After I checked out, I drove back over to the Royal Lahaina and checked in for my lomi lomi massage and was offered a free hot stone massage with it! Nice! My hour-long lomi lomi was amazingly calm and relaxing, and I think that at some point, I may have fallen asleep as a result of the much-needed relaxation. But on the other hand, because it was so relaxing, I didn’t get any of the knots and strains in my shoulders and right calf muscle massaged out and still had them after the session. If only I could have ordered exactly what I wanted done… Oh well. It was still super enjoyable!
Once the massage session was done, I regrettably left the spa room and met with Cynthia outside. Because she had an informational call scheduled around this time, I left Cynthia to her call and walked over to Kahekili Beach to kill some time while waiting for her to finish. With the sun out in full force, I enjoyed a hot and pleasantly beachy walk along the water, stopping every now and then to photograph some of the crashing waves and rip curls that looked so cool.
When Cynthia finally finished, we headed back to the Westin to enjoy some more beach and pool time. It was so nice to just sit and chill without too many to-dos to check off. And it was really nice to just sit by the pool and relax. Not that I did any of that, haha. I actually spent much of the afternoon swimming and sliding down the big slide into the pool before doing it again. And again. And again! SO MUCH FUN! I shot down the slide six times or so before I ran over to grab Cynthia to coerce her into trying it out as well! Because it was so fun!
After thinking it over and talking to some other tourists, Cynthia finally decided to give it a try and after a long wait in line, she finally went down the slide… albeit slowly, haha. But good for her for trying a slide again after the traumatic experience she had the last time I got her on a water slide in Orlando… Once Cynthia was done with the pool for the day, I went down the slide two or three more times before calling it a day at the pool as well. But I wasn’t done with the water. I couldn’t stop there on my last day in Hawaii! With the remaining time I had left before an early dinner, I ran over to Kaanapali Beach to take one last dip and swim in the Hawaiian waters. By this point in the afternoon, the tide was starting to rise and the waves were starting to grow bigger and bigger. It was crazy to experience the (relatively) big waves and the rising and undulating tide while floating and swimming in the water! With every incoming wave, it was crazy how high I floated up and how far the beach floor dropped beneath me. Imagine how fun it would be to ride these waves with a boogie board or a floatie!
Once I was done with the ocean, I went back to the pool to grab Cynthia so we could head out to our early dinner at Paia Fish Market on Front Street. The wait at the restaurant was a little longer than expected so Cynthia took that opportunity to go find gifts for people while I waited in line and eventually ordered the food. We picked Paia Fish Market for dinner because we wanted to finish off the trip with some highly-rated fish tacos and Paia Fish Market provided us with just that at a cheap-enough price! I ordered the fish taco dinner, which consisted of two fish tacos (one was with Cajun seasoning and the other was with butter, salt, and pepper) with coleslaw and cajun rice, for myself and ordered a Cajun shrimp taco and a butter, salt, and pepper fish taco for Cynthia. After Cynthia returned with her first round of gifts, she left again to buy some Honolulu Cookie Company cookies while waiting for our food since we found out last minute that the cookie store closed early. By the time our food came out, Cynthia was still waiting to buy the cookies. So I went ahead and ate and waited for Cynthia to come back to eat some of her food before we raced out of the restaurant to make it back to the resort for our last sunset of the evening.
Before we arrived at the resort, Cynthia had already decided that she would take it easy and slowly make her way to the beach at her own pace. So when we got to the Westin, I ran through the resort first to get to the beach, the entire time eyeing the sky and horizon in anticipation of the beautiful upcoming sunset. Once on the beach, I realized that the perspective I was looking to capture sunset from was not immediately available in front of me. So I ended up rushing down the sidewalk that connected the back of all the resorts along the beach for half a mile or so until I approached a bend in the shoreline. There, I stopped and looked back as the sun was setting and realized that this spot would probably be my best bet for capturing some sunset landscapes. I walked onto the sandy beach and pulled out my camera and tripod and quickly set up for the sunset photoshoot.
The scene was incredible. As the sun set, the sky was painted in a variety of oranges while the clouds provided beautiful textures in the clear, muted blue sky. Wow! And along the horizon, as I was photographing sunset, I also glimpsed a couple of silhouetted boats floating by, providing me some great photographic pieces to place in the foreground of my sunset landscapes. The sunset on our last day was extraordinarily beautiful and spectacular! And probably the best one I saw while in Maui! So lucky to have had the chance to witness a fantastic sunset on my last evening in Maui!
Once I had made my way back to the Westin after the sun had disappeared from view, I caught up with Cynthia, who was in line making use of our free drink tickets. Before long, she had come poolside with my Frozen Mai Tai and her cocktail of choice. As we sat next to the pool and listened to live music being played at the restaurant behind us, we sipped at, and then chugged, our free cocktails and celebrated our last evening in Maui, soaking it all in as our vacation came to an end.
After one last glimpse of the beautiful resort and pool area, we left to pick up our luggages from the valet guys at the front and rushed to the car to reorganize our stuff before speeding along to the airport to catch our flight back to Los Angeles. I can’t believe how quickly our seven days of island life on Maui flew by! So sad to leave this tropical island paradise called Maui and head back to work in busy, traffic-y L.A... But alas, all vacations must come to an end...
5 Things I Learned/Observed Today:
1. Pool chairs, beach chairs, and cabanas with front row views of the pool or the beach definitely get scouted out and claimed early in the day at beachside resorts. But if you wake up at sunrise, chances are that you’ll probably be able to grab a nice place to lounge for the day before they’re all reserved and taken! Also, it’s important to take into account the position of the sun throughout the day and the shade coverage of the resort buildings to make sure you get the ultimate poolside/beachside spot!
2. Even while on vacation in Hawaii, tons of tourists are still really active in the wee hours of the morning! Walking around at sunrise, you see runners and joggers, yoga people, walkers, and bikers. I guess people need to keep their beach bods ready!
3. A lomi lomi massage is a traditional Hawaiian massage that uses gentle, continuous, flowing massage strokes in combination essential oils. To me, it feels pretty much like a Swedish massage. It’s so very, very relaxing and soothing! The only issue... it doesn’t go deep enough (like deep tissue) to relax really tight and worn-out muscles from a lot of physical activity.
4. After experiencing and seeing some big waves here in Maui, I can say that waves in Hawaii can get PRETTY big! When you combine these big waves coming in with the steep dropoff in the water, it makes the perfect formula for a strong rip current that can pull you further away from shore. Definitely be careful when out in these active Hawaiian waters!
5. Restaurants and shops close so early in Maui! As you have seen me write in previous posts, you can really get screwed over if you start looking for dinner places late in the evening after chasing sunset because a lot of restaurants seem to close before or around 9:00pm. Makes it difficult to eat what you want to eat without planning far in advance or rushing to dinner last minute before it closes. Shops similarly close earlier than you think, so plan accordingly and look at their closing times online before you head out with plans for the day.

“The Reset (Kona, Hawaii Edition)” The unraveling. Everything was starting to unravel. I could feel it...yet I was doing nothing about it. Some would ask me if I was okay (thank you) while most filled my mind with a bunch of questions I did not have the answers to...I may never have the answers to. I was overwhelmed (with ongoing family drama) and waiting for someone to tell me to STOP and take a break. That’s one of the worst things that you can do. Wait for others (who are probably not that good of taking care of themselves) to tell you that it is time for you to put yourself first! 🤦🏽‍♀️ Truth be told, most of us are drowning in something but few of us really pay attention to the continuous warning signs. This does not make us bad people...quite the contrary. While trying to save others as we too are drowning...we are now subconsciously on a suicidal mission. If we are depleted mentally, physically, and emotionally...we will have nothing to give others. WAIT! Wait a minute! The bigger issue is we ain’t got shit to give ourselves and we may be waiting for a lifeboat that may never come!!!!👀 Drowning in our shit and other people’s shit just ain’t the way to live!!! We have got to learn how to SWIM to our special island to RESET and then swim back to the shorelines of our cities enriched, enlightened, and WHOLE! 🙌🏽 And no! No you can’t swim with a f*cking anchor at your feet!🤦🏽‍♀️ That just disrespects your RESET mission! This is for you! No one else! This is YOUR JOURNEY! You must become your own lifeboat then learn to abandon that vessel, jump into the ocean with only your bare skin, and be one with your life again! 🙌🏽 Of course, I mean this all figuratively and not literally (be safe out there especially if you don’t know how to swim in the ocean). But are you following what I am saying now? You are drowning in life baby and so am I! So I created my very own RESET! Last Friday, I got a break in work after working 7 days a week for almost 2 months to meet a deadline! 🙏🏽 In that moment of freedom mixed with exhaustion, I decided it was time for my RESET! As a consultant, I could just not take work from another client for a week and take some time for myself. This idea wasn’t strange to me because I am a solo traveler. However, it’s rare I travel to a city or a country where I know no one! I quickly started googling destinations that were still on my “bucket list” and looked for ones offering affordable last minute deals! And boom! Just like that....I LANDED in KONA, HAWAII aka the BIG ISLAND 48 hours later! 🙌🏽 But God! 🙏🏽 Blessed! Grateful! After over 14 hours of travel (including a 2.5 hour layover), I landed in my RESET destination! But not before paying all of my household bills cause I’m responsible like that. Lol. Hawaii has 8 major islands. Over 14 years ago, I traveled to Oahu and Maui with girlfriends from college. It was always my dream to see more of the Hawaiian islands....but the opportunity just never came up. It’s quite expensive to fly here with roundtrip flights alone typically running 1200-1600 dollars. But the Good Lord knew it was time for my RESET and so He paved the way! Amen! 🙏🏽 And so here I am...resetting as I live out a dream! Relaxation is my theme and I am only on God’s timing. So far I’ve had a 90 minute Deep Tissue massage that I think will change my life. I love my hotel and I’m just relaxing my way! THE BEST PART IS I DID THIS FOR MYSELF! 🙌🏽 I don’t care what others say...there is no better feeling than knowing you can take care of yourself no matter what the universe throws at you! 🙌🏽🙏🏽 I got me in the palm of my hands and then I crossed the country to breathe again in the Pacific Ocean. May the ocean wash all my fears, worries, and stresses away. May I be whole again! May I learn to practice the art of resetting even if I cannot take a random solo trip! May I learn not to deplete my mind, body, and spirit at the cost of saving others! May I safely breathe my own air again....knowing that no matter what happens in life...I got myself! 💕 ~KJM sending love from Kona, Hawaii on Hump Day! Please make sure you reset often even if it’s just going to the spa for a day! Do something that rejuvenates your soul! 💜 FYI it’s 4am here and I am blogging. 🤣

Key counter-cultural figures such as Joan Baez and Joseph Campbell were among its early guests and lecturers. Today, renowned wellness leaders and yoga teachers like Andrew Weil, Dean Ornish, and Janet Stone share expertise on trending topics, including the energetics of consciousness and meditation as medicine.
5. Maui, Hawaii
A strong contemplative community and the island’s healthy lifestyle are among the draws that have led Ashtangis such as Nancy Gilgoff, David Williams, and Ram Dass to make their homes here. The Kahanu Garden in Hana is home to the Pi’ilanihale Heiau, the largest Heiau (shrines) in Polynesia and a place of worship dating back to the 13th century. Hawaii’s spiritual emphasis on nature makes it a destination for those seeking to feel the mana (spiritual energy) of the land.

6. Boulder, Colorado
Boulder’s vibrant mindfulness community has been growing since the 1970s when Tibetan meditation master Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche—the 11th incarnation of the Trungpa Tulku—established Naropa University, a Buddhist liberal arts college, and Shambhala Mountain Center in a valley above town. While Rinpoche’s legacy has been rocked by scandal, Naropa and Shambhala remain pillars of Buddhist values and mindful practices. Senior yoga teachers Richard Freeman and Amy Ippoliti call Boulder home. Bonus: The Hanuman Festival, held each June, attracts top yoga educators and teachers such as Sreedevi Bringi and Seane Corn.
Los Angeles, California
7. Los Angeles
Paramahansa Yogananda, one of the first Indian spiritual teachers to make his home in the West, called Los Angeles “the Benares of America” (Benares is another name for the Indian city of Varanasi) when he arrived in the 1920s. After setting up the Self-Realization Fellowship’s international headquarters atop Mount Washington, he opened a clifftop compound in Encinitas and a waterfall and shrine-studded campus on Sunset Boulevard where a portion of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi are laid to rest. Today, the Lake Shrine—with its waterfront meditation garden and gold lotus–topped temple where resident monks hold services and give lectures—remains an oasis for contemplation. LA’s robust Kundalini scene (Golden Bridge Yoga Studio, RAMA Institute in Venice) traces its roots back to 1969, when Yogi Bhajan started teaching the distinctive style on Melrose Avenue. Wanderlust headquarters in Hollywood is LA’s latest yoga hub, hosting fusion classes and workshops by wellness gurus such as Taryn Toomey and senior yoga teacher Annie Carpenter.

8. Salt Spring Centre of Yoga, British Columbia
In 1981, members of the Dharma Sara Satsang Society, a yoga community inspired by the teachings of Indian Ashtangi master and silent monk Baba Hari Dass, purchased a 69-acre patch of cedar forest and meadows on Salt Spring Island. Today, the property’s restored turn-of-the-century farmhouse is the longest-running yoga retreat center on Canada’s West Coast. Public offerings include monthly full-moon pujas (spiritual cleansings), while 10-week residential programs combine service (tending the on-site farm, preparing vegetarian meals) with asana and theory classes covering classic yoga texts.

9. Ojai, California
A bustling hub of ashrams, yoga centers, and spiritual retreats— and dubbed Shangri-La by locals (a nod to the surrounding valley’s cameo as the fictional utopia in the classic film Lost Horizon)—Ojai’s surrounding Topatopa and Sulphur mountains are what attracted Indian philosopher J. Krishnamurti in the 1920s. Today, his teachings continue via programs at the Krishnamurti Educational Center.
10. Chopra Center, Carlsbad, California
The palm-shaded Omni La Costa Resort & Spa may seem like an unlikely setting for the cutting-edge work of the Chopra Center’s Mind-Body Medical Group, but here, experts in hypnotherapy, integrative oncology, and pranic healing (a form of no-touch energy healing) combine holistic practices and Western medicine. Try one of their Perfect Health retreats where itineraries feature daily yoga and meditation, Ayurvedic meals, spa treatments, and medical consultations from Vedic educators and integrative-medicine experts.
New York City
11. New York City
New York City is home to some of Western yoga’s most notable teachers, including Eddie Stern, Genevieve Kapuler, Elena Brower, Dharma Mittra, Alison West, and Lauren Ash. “HealHaus in Brooklyn is my go-to haven for spiritual support,” says Ash, founder of mindful lifestyle brand Black Girl in Om. “The studio’s mission—to promote healing as a lifestyle—is a beautiful example of what it means to hold sustainable space and intentional presence for diverse people.” New York’s got everything from trendy new Y7 yoga—which utilizes heat, hip-hop music, and dark candle-lit rooms—to traditional Iyengar Yoga at the Iyengar Yoga Institute. And if you need a break from the city, head north 90 miles to the iconic Omega Institute—a wooded, 42-year-old health and wellness campus that sees more than 23,000 students a year.

13. Mountain Yoga Festival, St. Anton, Austria
This event, held in the birthplace of modern skiing, offers a heavy dose of outdoor wellness. Intimacy is part of the draw: Fewer than 300 attendees and teachers from around the world gather to fill their souls with music and movement. Alpine hikes and lectures by Jivamukti teacher Karl Straub and nutritional biochemist Florian Überall roundout the lineup.
14. Schloss Elmau, Bavaria, Germany
Since opening in 1916, this wellness and culture sanctuary in the Bavarian Alps has welcomed luminaries (author Ian McEwan, jazz musician Paolo Fresu) to its concert hall and lecture library. Here, you’ll find an annual yoga summit where Europe’s top teachers, such as Barbra Noh and Timo Wahl, lead lectures, asana, and meditation sessions against the backdrop of the snow-capped Wetterstein mountains.
15. London
London’s yoga scene stands apart from other cities’ with its emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility: Ourmala offers classes to asylum-seekers, women refugees, and survivors of trafficking; Stillpoint Yoga London (try one of their daily Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga classes held at London Bridge) helps bring the practice into local prisons; and Michael James Wong’s Boys of Yoga platform cultivates stories, videos, and tutorials to break down gender stereo-types in yoga. In addition, popular teachers like Stewart Gilchrist and Claire Missingham call London home, teaching at Triyoga and East London School of Yoga.

16. Barcelona Yoga Conference
This five-day event is one of Europe’s largest yoga festivals, attracting more than 1,200 attendees from across the globe to flow with master yogis such as Shiva Rea and Krishna Das, indulge in Thai massage, enjoy music from international performers, try acroyoga with a partner, and lose themselves in ecstatic dance.
17. Bornholm Yoga & Retreat Center, Denmark
Off the southern coast of Sweden, Bornholm is an ideal setting for three-day silent meditation retreats hosted by resident yogi Solveig Egebjerg (who studied with Sharat Aurora, the head of the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Center) and American Diane Long (a disciple of Iyengar-focused Vanda Scaravelli). Disconnect and unwind with walking meditations along the rocky Baltic coast or workshops aimed at weaving mindfulness into your daily grind.

18. Suryalila Yoga Retreat Centre, Cadiz, Spain
The Om Dome (an igloo-shaped yoga hall) at this Andalusian retreat might be the most magnificent place to practice in all of Europe, says yoga teacher Tiffany Cruikshank. The geometric studio was designed to resemble a Nepalese temple topped with a golden stupa. Wholesome farm-to-table organic meals are another reason Cruikshank enjoys leading retreats here. Regular teacher trainings by Vidya Jacqueline Heisel, founder of vinyasa-focused Frog Lotus Yoga, and Carol Murphy, founder of Green Lotus Yoga, are other highlights.

19. Kenya
Deborah Calmeyer, the Zimbabwe-born founder of travel company Roar Africa, last year launched a new series of self-discovery retreats called Roar & Restore, incorporating TED Talk–worthy speakers (conservationist Laura Turner Seydel and world-renowned South African artist Dylan Lewis) with yoga, meditation, and safari drives. The conservation-minded Segera Retreat Center, set within 50,000 acres of protected land on the Laikipia Plateau, offers a raw-food menu and garden-shaded yoga decks developed with yogis in mind.

20. Taghazout, Morocco
Over the past two decades, a booming surf-and-yoga scene has sprung up in this sleepy fishing village five hours south of Casablanca. Take holiday with Surf Maroc (one of the area’s first surf-yoga retreat companies) for daily “creative vinyasa, powerful pranayama, laughter yoga, restorative, yin, yoga nidra, and meditation.” Between yoga sessions, surf instructors provide hands-on coaching whether you’re a first-timer or a seasoned rider. For a taste of the locale, the property’s neighboring rooftop yoga studio offers public classes and a chance to mingle with the local yoga community.
21. Namibia
The country’s sublime scenery—red-sand dunes and a desolate coast riddled with shipwrecks—and commitment to conservation have made it Africa’s new safari superstar. It’s no wonder zeitgeisty yoga companies Escape to Shape and Namaste Yoga Safari are already offering retreats here. Escape to Shape founder Erica Gragg boasts “one epic experience after another: Rhinos at a drinking hole may serve as our drishti in Virabhadrasana II while waves lull us into Savasana after class on the beach.”
Central + South America
22. The Sacred Valley, Peru
Traditionally, travelers here head straight to historic sanctuary Machu Picchu—but culturally immersive retreats nestled in the heart of the Sacred Valley offer a new draw of their own. Splurge on a stay at Sol y Luna boutique hotel knowing a portion of the hotel’s profits fund an adjacent school that provides education, art, and sports for the valley’s youth—and take advantage of outdoor yoga classes. Travelers seeking a more immersive experience should consider eco-retreat Willka T’ika, which incorporates Andean traditions and Q’ero healers. Portions of retreat proceeds support childhood education in remote villages. Organic gardening, sustainable living, and acts of generosity are all woven into the fabric of Willka T’ika. For a more holistic experience in Peru, consider volunteering at Eco Truly Park in Lima. Volunteers participate in teaching yoga classes, organic gardening, and cooking.
Machu Picchu, Peru
23. El Salvador
In the early 1970s, El Salvador was a top surf destination, but the civil war took a heavy toll on residents and tourism. “Now, you see hermanos lejanos [El Salvadorans who moved to the United States and Canada] and tourism returning,” says yoga teacher Lindsay Gonzalez, who operates Balancé Yoga Studio and wellness retreats in the surf town El Tunco. An open-air yoga shala catches the ocean breeze from Balancé’s beachfront setting. “In El Trunco, days revolve around the tides, the wind, and the best surfing conditions,” Gonzalez says. Now that it has a dedicated yoga hub, this surf town just might be the next Nosara.
24. Guatemala
Travelers looking to escape the growing yogi crowds in Mexico have set their sights on the emerging yoga scene in Guatemala, where, in the Mayan village of San Marcos la Laguna, the Yoga Forest Conscious Living Retreat Center is setting the stage for responsible tourism, funding community projects such as shoreline restoration via reed planting and midwife education. Drop in for a class or embark on a personal or group retreat to study Jnana, Ashtanga, Bhakti, and Karma Yoga with their pros.

Caribbean
25. Cuba
Cuba’s dynamism reminds us that yoga is really about community. Eduardo de Jesus Pimentel Vázquez—the godfather of Cuban yoga—has trained more than 12,000 yoga practitioners through the Cuban Yoga Association, which he founded in 1990. His humble Havana studio Vidya offers a glimpse of the city’s tight-knit yoga scene. For the past three years, instructor April Puciata has hosted culturally immersive retreats at the beach-side center Mhai Yoga. Eduardo guest-teaches up to five classes during the week, and Puciata arranges visits with local artists and entrepreneurs, plus side trips to the town of Trinidad.
26. Nosara, Costa Rica
Universally considered a yoga mecca, Nosara is home to 32 retreats with serious yoga cred. Both Don Stapleton, longtime director of Kripalu, and Stephan Rechtschaffen, co-founder of the Omega Institute, set up yoga and wellness retreat centers here in the 1990s. More than 6,000 people visit Stapleton’s Nosara Yoga Institute (now Kindness Yoga) annually, known for its mile-long meditation trail and intensive teacher trainings (more than 3,500 graduates over 21 years). At Rechtschaffen’s Blue Spirit, five studios host learning vacations with the Omega Institute that include workshops on unlocking your purpose and Rechtschaffer-led lectures on finding the path to longevity. Located in a blue zone (where a large percentage of the population lives longer than average), the vivacity of Nosara is intimately intertwined with its people and practices.
27. Jungle Bay Resort & Spa, Dominica
Since opening their rain forest retreat center in 2005, yoga teacher Glenda Raphael and her husband, Sam, have been pioneers of sustainable tourism, stocking up on goods from island farmers, local fishermen, and artisans. Yoga teacher Chrissy Carter has held nine retreats here. Don’t miss Victoria Falls, Champagne Beach, and the Boiling Lake, the name given to one of the world’s few lakes that actually boils, says Carter. The resort, along with many others throughout the island, suffered damages after last year’s hurricane, making now a better time than ever to support the local Dominican economy.

28. Bali
While Bali is full of celebrated sites and crawling with soul-seekers, Ayurvedic teacher Sahara Rose prefers the lesser-known OmUnityBali, tucked away from tourist traffic in the northern village of Sudaji. At this super-sustainable eco-homestay founded by Indonesian yogi Zanzan, healing journeys and yoga packages incorporate local experiences such as temple ceremonies and visits to artisan workshops. In the jungles of Ubud, musician Michael Franti invites guest performers to enliven the asana practices at his Soulshine Bali Hotel & Yoga Retreat Oasis. Of course, the island’s biggest party happens during BaliSpirit Festival, a week-long celebration that draws big names like Shiva Rea and Tymi Howard, plus local Indonesian presenters such as Aikikdo, Made Janur, and musician Krisna Floop.
29. Dwarika’s Resort, Nepal
If replenishment is what you’re after, then Dwarika’s Resort—tucked into the hillside just 30 miles from the Tibetan border—should top your short list. After a consultation with an Ayurvedic health care provider, you will be prescribed soothing appointments on your custom itinerary: time in the respiratory-cleansing salt house, a visit with the retreat’s resident naturopath, a walk through the meditation maze, sessions in sound- and color-therapy chambers, and stargazing with an astrology master. Yoga classes offer the ultimate view—distant snow-capped mountains of the Himalayan range.
30. Bhutan Spirit Sanctuary, Bhutan
Enjoy daily yoga and acupuncture sessions at this all-inclusive retreat center in Paro, Bhutan—a historic valley town surrounded by sacred Buddhist sites. Each room has views of the Eutok Samdrupcholing goenpa monastery, where resident monks welcome guests for morning meditation. Bhutan is known for its medicinal herbs, and guests are encouraged to join spa therapists on foraging excursions in nearby hillsides.

31. Rishikesh, India
nestled along the sacred Ganges River in northern India, is a preferred jumping-off point for many teachers and travelers making the pilgrim-age to the birthplace of yoga. Hindus believe that a saint came to the river to offer penance and was forgiven by the god Vishnu. The spiritual town has an ashram for every sensibility, from super-traditional (and affordable) Phool Chatti to pricey Ananda, a luxe resort known for its Ayurvedic treatments. Each March, the city’s largest ashram, Parmarth Niketan, plays host to some of India’s most respected spiritual leaders (Pujya Swami Ramdevji and Acharya Balkrishna) during the week-long, world-famous annual International Yoga Festival. Meanwhile, the Yoga Institute in Santacruz, Mumbai, is the oldest organized yoga center in the world. The nonprofit recently celebrated its 100th birthday, and has certified more than 50,000 teachers in the past century. Today, roughly 2,000 people visit the institute daily for training, wellness services, and to pay homage to the historic site.

32. Ulpotha, Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka has no shortage of stylish beachside yoga retreats, but world-class therapists and teachers—such as Parisian Alexandre Onfroy and Californian Rob Hess—make the trek inland to immerse themselves in local culture at Ulpotha. Located in a working rice village, a committee of locals take part in all decision-making, and guest fees fund a free area clinic. Eleven simple mud huts are sprinkled across 22 acres of dense forests, and monks still live in remote temples in the mountains above. There’s a dedicated yoga shala, but classes also take place beneath the branches of an ancient banyan tree.
33. Kamalaya, Koh Samui, Thailand
Teachers Rodney Yee, Colleen Saidman Yee, Richard Freeman, and Mary Taylor are regular hosts at this retreat founded by John Stewart, a former monk who lived in the Himalayas for 18 years, and his wife, Karina, a doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, who built the seaside sanctuary around a jungle-shrouded cave that was once a spiritual retreat for Buddhist monks. Guests can book à la carte therapies and classes such as detoxification, Chi Nei Tsang, and Hatha Yoga, or multi-day packages meant to remedy modern ailments such as technology addiction.
34. Cambodia
Teacher Puravi Joshi calls Cambodia one of the most peaceful places to practice. Immerse yourself in the history and culture of Siem Reap at the Hariharalaya Yoga & Meditation Retreat, named after the Vedic capital of Cambodia. Temples dating to 800 CE surround the two-acre campus. A team of international yoga and meditation instructors lead six-day retreats with Integral Yoga, silent meditation, Dharma talks, and nourishing vegan cuisine.

35. Gwinganna Lifestyle Retreat, Gold Coast, Australia
It’s not uncommon to see wallabies and ’roos hopping across the 500-acre grounds set high up in the ancient gum trees of the Tallebudgera Valley. Mornings focus on yin-inspired movements such as qi gong and restorative yoga, while afternoons are devoted to yang-type activities such as boxing and hiking. Three-day Life in Balance programs integrate equine healing sessions with lectures from holistic psychiatrists, and new Journey to Inner Freedom programs include workshops with emotional healing authority Brandon Bays.
36. Aro HA, New Zealand
Five-, six-, and seven-day retreats, many led by yogi and founder Damian Chaparro, focus on rejuvenating mind and body against some of New Zealand’s most breathtaking landscapes. Think sunrise yoga, kayaking excursions, and strenuous hikes on the trails of New Zealand’s Southern Alps and along the shores of sapphire-blue Lake Wakatipu. Days end with restorative yoga and nourishing, paleo-friendly cuisine.
37. Byron Bay, Australia
The quintessential beach town, Byron Bay overflows with juice bars, organic cafés, and boutique yoga studios. Byron Yoga Centre, founded in 1988 by John Ogilvie, is one of Australia’s longest-running yoga schools. Ogilvie’s signature style of Purna Yoga focuses on integrating physical postures and philosophy. Meanwhile, Byron Bay newcomer Bamboo Yoga School has already amassed a strong community thanks to its open-air bamboo “tentple” (a cross between a tent and temple) and variety of classes including yoga nidra, hatha, vinyasa, and yin.

25 of the world's most romantic hotels
Tumblr media
(CNN) — For some, a romantic getaway means five-star luxury and poolside pampering. For others, it’s all about glorious solitude and stunning scenery. And then there are the action-and-adventure lovebirds who prefer excitement and high-adrenaline sports over rest and relaxation.
Whatever your preference for where you stay, we’ve rounded up 25 hotels that should have you covered.
Whether you’re after a low-key Caribbean island escape or an African safari adventure — or something else entirely — these destinations will make your heart sing.
The Resort at Pedregal (Cabo San Lucas, Mexico)
Tumblr media
Some of the suites at The Resort at Pedregal open right onto the water.
Robert Reck/The Resort at Pedregal
Set on a long sweep of beach at the base of towering mountains, this dreamy resort on the Baja Peninsula of Mexico is as romantic as it gets.
Each of its 118 rooms features a roomy terrace outfitted with private hot tub overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Select casitas open directly onto the ocean — you’ll feel like you’re practically floating in open waters. And they boast private plunge pools and fire pits. The cliffside restaurant El Farallón, with its divine sunset views, makes for an unforgettable date night.
Four Seasons Resort Maldives at Landaa Giraavaru (Maldives)
Though the Four Seasons has several breathtaking properties in the Maldives — including the Voavah private island — the resort at Landaa Giraavaru has the edge when it comes to romance.
Each of its 103 thatched-roof, standalone bungalows features private water access, offering the ultimate seclusion and privacy for couples.
Amorous offerings include candlelight dinners on a private sandbank, tantric couples massages and sunset Champagne cruises around the surrounding UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve.
Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo (Monaco)
Monaco’s legendary Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo has just undergone a four-year, $280-million-dollar makeover, bringing the historic 19th-century property slap-bang into the 21st century.
Architects Richard Martinet and Gabriel Viora have preserved the property’s Belle Epoque chic, while giving it a lighter, more contemporary look.
The new rooms, all of which have balconies and close to half of which are suites, feature romantic details such as white marble floors, Louis XVI-style pieces and Murano glass chandeliers and lamps.
The light-filled, marble-fitted bathrooms feature an intoxicating mix of elegant curves and clean lines, and you can pamper yourself with Guerlain toiletries too.
Rosewood Baha Mar (Bahamas)
Tumblr media
Rosewood Baha Mar has private beach access as well as luxurious lagoon-style pools.

It might be just 15 minutes’ drive from Lynden Pindling International Airport, but the Bahamas’ newest resort feels like its own private island hideaway.
Set upon a serene stretch of Cable Beach, Rosewood Baha Mar’s lush, jungle-like grounds are peppered with lagoon-style pools, hot tubs and quiet relaxation nooks hidden behind leafy banana palms.
Guest rooms and villas boast a relaxed beach house vibe, while common areas dazzle with polished marble, coffered ceilings and hand-painted murals.
&Beyond Kichwa Tembo (Kenya)
If there was a safari lodge made especially for lovers, this would be it. With its sprawling, three-part swimming pool and chic, open-air restaurant, you could almost mistake it for a sexy Palm Springs resort — if it weren’t for the jaw-dropping views of the Masai Mara from every angle.
Its 40 revamped tents are minimalist but luxurious, decked out with plush oversized beds and roomy ensuite bathrooms. Romantic offerings include safari by hot-air balloon and sunset cocktails at Oloololo, which overlooks the expansive wilderness.
Gritti Palace (Venice)
Tumblr media
Gritti Palace rooms are furnished with Venetian antiques, exquisite original art and rich brocade silks.
Courtesy Gritti Palace
Built in 1475, this stunning palazzo is one of the most luxurious and romantic hotels in La Serenissima. It occupies the loveliest spot on the Grand Canal, looking across to the magnificent Santa Maria della Salute church and the Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, home to the Guggenheim Museum.
Rooms are downright decadent, furnished with Venetian antiques, exquisite original art and rich brocade silks. Its intimate, fresco-adorned restaurant, Club del Doge, is one of the most beautiful restaurants in Venice (if not all of Italy).
Wildflower Hall Shimla (Shimla, India)
This Oberoi property is worth visiting for the extraordinary views alone: It sits atop a mountain, 8,250 feet above sea level (around 2,500 meters), and is surrounded thickly by cedar forests and wildflower fields. Its rooms are just as stunning, furnished with exquisite colonial furniture, colorful hand-woven Indian carpets and original watercolor paintings.
Though the hotel’s main draw is its stillness and tranquility, there are still lots of low-key activities on offer for couples. Highlights include scenic guided nature hikes, mountaintop picnics and private dining inside a forest gazebo.
Royal Mansour (Marrakech)
Tumblr media
The elegant Royal Mansour is layered with intricate patterns.
jean-bernard YAGUIYAN/Royal Mansour
Commissioned by King Mohammed VI, the Royal Mansour is an oasis of 53 elegant private residences, or riads, quiet courtyards and intimate restaurants just five minutes from the Jemaa el-Fnaa.
The riads are as extravagant as they come, strewn with suede and silk carpets, velvet brocade sofas and Baccarat crystal — guests will feel as if they’re living in their own private palace. Riads aside, honeymooners will love the hotel’s sumptuous private spa suites, each decked out with their own hammam, plunge pool and terrace.
Soneva Kiri (Koh Kood, Thailand)
Offering everything from tree pod dining to free chocolate, Soneva Kiri in Koh Kood is one of Thailand’s most incredible luxury resorts.
Wedged between the jungle and the ocean on the lush, under-the-radar island of Koh Kood, Soneva Kiri makes for the perfect romantic escape. It has just 36 thatched villas, each with its own private infinity pool, sundeck and a lavish indoor-outdoor bathroom.
The resort’s pièce de résistance is its jungle-enshrouded Cinema Paradiso, an open-air movie theater set above a lagoon (date night will never be the same again).
Soneva Kiri, 110 Moo 4, Koh Kood Sub-District, Koh Kood District
Shangri-La Hotel, Paris (Paris)
There are countless swoon-worthy hotels in the city of love, but the Shangri-La might be the most romantic of them all. Behind its picturesque wedding-cake facade, you’ll find impossibly lush landscaped gardens, two Michelin-starred restaurants and 101 opulent, antique-filled rooms. But what sets the Shangri-La apart from the others?
Its unparalleled views of the Eiffel Tower directly across the river — it’s so close, it feels like you can reach out and touch it from your own balcony.
Helena Bay Lodge (New Zealand)
Tumblr media
Helena Bay Lodge is located in the northeast corner of New Zealand’s North Island.
Chris McLennan/Helena Bay
With no more than 10 guests on the property at a time, this North Island hotel offers couples the utmost privacy.
Its five villas — set upon nearly two miles of windswept coastline — are cozy but luxurious, outfitted with real log-burning fireplaces and terraces overlooking Helena Bay. Property highlights include a fine-dining Italian restaurant with a 1,000-bottle wine cellar and a spa inspired by a traditional Russian banya (bath house).
Helena Bay, 1948 Russell Road, Helena Bay, New Zealand
Four Seasons Maui at Wailea (Hawaii)
Fresh off an extensive makeover leaving guest rooms and suites plusher than ever, the Four Seasons on Wailea Beach continues its reign as Maui’s most luxurious resort.
There are even more couples’ experiences on offer now, from the adventurous (helicopter rides to neighboring Big Island) to the relaxing (couples’ instructional massages by the beach). But the most romantic experience of all is the candlelit oceanfront dinner by the famous adults-only Serenity Pool — it comes with exclusive nighttime use of the pool.
Belmond La Samanna (St. Martin)
Built upon the unspoiled shores of Baie Longue, Belmond La Samanna makes for a low-key but luxurious destination. Following hurricane damage last year, the resort reopened in December and its $25 million makeover is due to be completed by March 2019.
The resort has something for every couple, whether it’s a Champagne sunset cruise, an art exhibition or a jet-skiing excursion on the Dutch side of the island.
Though every room and suite at La Samanna is a dream, its eight Mediterranean-style villas –perched atop a cliff overlooking the beach — offer the most privacy (and best views).
Ponta dos Ganchos (Santa Catarina, Brazil)
Tumblr media
Ponta dos Ganchos has 25 ocean-facing bungalows.
Courtesy Ponta dos Ganchos
If it’s peace and relaxation you’re after, skip the glitzy resorts on Ipanema and head straight for Ponta dos Ganchos, a romantic hideaway on the picturesque Emerald Coast Brazil.
Its 25 ocean-facing bungalows are hidden blissfully inside a rainforest and are luxurious to boot — think infinity plunge pools, deep-soaking hot tubs and even private saunas. Added bonus: It’s adults-only, making it that much more tranquil.
Ponta dos Ganchos, Rua Eupídeo Alves do Nascimento, 104, Gov. Celso Ramos, Santa Catarina, Brazil
The Beverly Hilton (Los Angeles, California)
Though it’s best known for being home to the Golden Globes — historically held in its ballroom every year — this historic Beverly Hills hotel is as romantic as it is glamorous. Everything about the property feels understated but sexy, from the retro, dimly lit Circa 55 restaurant to the classic Hollywood-style pool, heated to 75 F (24 C) year-round and open 24/7 in case you fancy a midnight dip.
Cabana suites are breezy and tropically inspired and open directly onto the pool deck, but the most romantic rooms are in the Wilshire tower: They’re bright and airy, with wraparound terraces and heart-stopping views over Beverly Hills and the glittering Los Angeles skyline.
La Bastide de Gordes (Gordes, France)
Perched on a cliff next to a 12th-century castle in the picturesque Luberon village of Gordes, La Bastide is romantic by default. Its fresco-adorned rooms and suites, decorated thoughtfully with Louis XV antiques and plush Provencal fabrics, further add to its rustic charm.
And after a 20-million-euro revamp in 2015, it’s more luxurious than ever with a new Sisley spa, four swimming pools and a second restaurant by Michelin-starred chef Pierre Gagnaire.
Conrad Bora Bora Nui (Bora Bora)
Tumblr media
The Conrad Bora Bora Nui’s bathrooms leave little to be desired.
Adam Bruzzone/Conrad Bora Bora Nui
Though you’d be hard-pressed to find a resort that’s not romance-worthy in Bora Bora, this resort is one of the most impressive the destination has to offer.
For starters, it has two-story overwater bungalows, offering extra space (over 3,000 square feet) and added privacy. There’s also a hilltop spa, a white-sand beach, an infinity pool with a swim-up bar and a sunset lounge with a glass floor that offers a glimpse into the coral reefs below.
Southern Ocean Lodge (Australia)
Built atop scrub-covered bluffs on the southwest tip of far-flung Kangaroo Island, this isn’t your typical lovers’ retreat. The landscape here is wild and rugged rather than breezy and tropical, but that just makes it all the more special.
Each of its 21 glass-fronted suites are cantilevered to ensure jaw-dropping panoramas over windswept Hanson Bay. And though the resort is eco-friendly and built entirely from sustainable materials, it’s also incredibly luxurious: Each suite has a private terrace, sunken lounge and a deep-soak tub with a view.
Four Seasons Resort Serengeti (Tanzania)
Tumblr media
Reclining is an adventure in the Serengeti.

When it comes to romance, the Four Seasons seems to get it right every time — even in the middle of the wilderness. Its magnificent Serengeti property offers a vast menu of couples’ offerings, from floating sunset dinners atop the desert-facing pool to burudika spa treatments using local plants and healing minerals.
Its 77 rooms are luxurious yet blend seamlessly into the environment with their thatched-grass roofs and neutral, earthy color palettes. All have open-air sundecks and several even offer private infinity-edge pools that face directly out onto the watering hole.
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort (Danang, Vietnam)
Just looking at this resort on Vietnam’s Son Tra peninsula is enough to inspire romance: Its whitewashed villas cascade dramatically down a green mountainside into the ocean.
Its 200 rooms and suites are just as heavenly, outfitted with sprawling terraces and spa-like bathrooms with ocean-facing tubs. Its signature restaurant, Citron, takes date nights to whole new heights, quite literally: Couples can dine in a cone suspended over the mountain. But perhaps most romantic of all is the resort’s adults-only infinity pool, which overlooks the pristine white sand beach below.
Marquis Los Cabos Resort & Spa (San José del Cabo, Mexico)
Tumblr media
Infinity pools seem to flow right into the sea at the Marquis Los Cabos.
Courtesy Marquis Los Cabos
There’s something for every couple at this all-inclusive, adults-only resort, built along a picturesque stretch of coastline on the emerald-blue Sea of Cortez. Its never-ending menu of couples-friendly diversions includes dance lessons, tequila tastings and his-and-hers massages at the 13,000-square-foot Spa Marquis.
There are three oceanfront infinity pools and a pristine beach to enjoy, as well, with water activities to boot. Of course, that’s only if you can drag yourself from your ocean-facing casita — rooms here are so colorful, charming and luxurious that you might never want to leave.
The Caves (Negril, Jamaica)
With its breezy, bohemian vibe and dramatic cliffside setting, the adults-only Caves hotel is considered one of Jamaica’s most romantic escapes. Its 11 colorful cottages and suites are built along lush, foliage-lined paths and dramatic seaside cliffs carved with stairways leading down into the ocean.
Property highlights include a lovely Aveda mini-spa perched above the water, a romantic bar built inside of a grotto and dining in the al fresco gazebo. But what you’re here for is the famous cave dinner — a private, five-course dinner set inside a cave that’s lit up with dozens of flickering candles.
Halekulani (Honolulu, Hawaii)
There are certainly newer and flashier hotels in Honolulu but the legendary Halekulani, built in 1883, remains the top choice for a romantic getaway. It’s luxurious but low-key, elegant but understated, and remains miraculously Zen-like despite its prime beachfront location.
Its oceanfront freshwater pool — laid with 1.2 million pieces of blue glass in the shape of an orchid — is easily the most luxurious on Waikiki. And there’s no more romantic way to spend an evening than listening to live ukulele ballads under the stars at House Without a Key, Halekulani’s signature restaurant.
A Japanese outpost is set to open in Okinawa in July.
Secret Bay (Dominica)
With just eight bungalows hidden amid thick, jungle-like foliage on the face of a cliff looking over the ocean, Secret Bay feels as if it were built specifically for lovers.
Bungalows are equipped with so many luxurious features — hammocks, plunge pools, sundecks, personal libraries, chef’s kitchens — there’s not a single reason for you to leave. But you must, if only to watch the sun set over the Caribbean Ocean from the gorgeous Vetiver Sunset Deck.
Amangiri (Utah)
When it comes to desert escapes, it doesn’t get much more luxurious than Amangiri. Its 34 sleek suites are perfect for lovers, boasting private courtyards with show-stopping desert views, and in some cases, private pools.
Property highlights include a Navajo-inspired spa with a desert-facing water pavilion and a stunning main pool, wrapped dramatically around an enormous natural sandstone butte.
Supermodel Emily Ratajkowski chose the resort for her honeymoon, while in 2018 Kanye West tweeted that “we need to Amangiri the world,” following he and wife Kim Kardashian West’s stay here.

37 magical, mindful yoga destinations from nearly every continent.
North America
1. Feathered Pipe Ranch, Helena, Montana
Teacher and Yoga Journal cofounder Judith Hanson Lasater has been hosting yoga retreats at this spacious ranch since 1975. “It’s like summer camp for yogis,” she says: “Jaw-dropping scenery in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, magnificent food, fresh spring water, twice-daily yoga classes, and a week steeped in the silence of nature.” To pay respect to the sacred Native American land the retreat rests on, founder India Supera created the Feathered Pipe Foundation to help preserve ceremonial traditions of the Cree people. Feathered Pipe continues to foster humanitarian efforts that give life to new nonprofits while maintaining missions such as the Veterans Yoga Project and the Tibetan Children’s Education Foundation.

2. Kripalu Center for Yoga & Health, Stockbridge, Massachusetts
With an international network of 2,000 instructors teaching more than 700 programs to 30,000 guests a year, education is front and center at this verdant campus in the Berkshires. For the past decade, Kripalu has led the way in groundbreaking research on yoga and trauma in collaboration with experts from Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital.

3. Sedona, Arizona
Sedona is known for spiritual vortexes—powerful energy centers where visitors can allegedly pick up on sacred frequencies. Healers and enlightenment seekers worldwide travel to its towering red-rock spires hoping to tap into higher consciousness. Each March, the three-day Sedona Yoga Festival draws thousands of practitioners with its lineup of 200 classes and performances by kirtan artists such as Johanna Beekman. Regulars tout an intimate setting where you’re likely to run into presenters (think ISHTA Yoga founder Alan Finger) in the halls, as well as dedicated workshops on trauma-informed yoga.
Coffee Pot Rock, Sedona, Arizona
4. Esalen Institute, Big Sur, California
This cliff-side retreat opened in 1962 with a series of workshops on yoga and personal growth.

After setting up the Self-Realization Fellowship's international headquarters atop Mount Washington, he opened a clifftop compound in Encinitas and a waterfall and shrine-studded campus on Sunset Boulevard where a portion of the ashes of Mahatma Gandhi are laid to rest.

15. London
London’s yoga scene stands apart from other cities' with its emphasis on inclusivity and accessibility: Ourmala offers classes to asylum-seekers, women refugees, and survivors of trafficking; Stillpoint Yoga London (try one of their daily Mysore-style Ashtanga yoga classes held at London Bridge) helps bring the practice into local prisons; and Michael James Wong’s Boys of Yoga platform cultivates stories, videos, and tutorials to break down gender stereo-types in yoga. In addition, popular teachers like Stewart Gilchrist and Claire Missingham call London home, teaching at Triyoga and East London School of Yoga.

12. Elysia Yoga Convention, Aegiali, Amorgos

Africa
