The Gods Look Down!
Venus #9
Par for the course. Enjoyable.
Minnie Geels is Venus' client in this chapter, and she doesn't want to be helped. She doesn't want to be beautiful.
And what follows is pretty much what you find in thousands of romcoms/chick-flicks. "Real, enchanting charm and beauty come from within," says Venus at the end, having done everything that every beauty magazine has advised women to do for decades. Various cosmetic alterations allow the real Minnie to shine through, and get her man. Naïve and sweet, and very different to recent tales in the series. No idea what type/genre of story they will do next.

A Dream Is Born!
Venus #9
Credit where credit is due: this series sure tells lot of different types of stories.
In this two-parter, Venus promises to make every woman beautiful.
When you start a VENUS story you never know what you'll get. This time our heroine hits upon an idea to help women find the natural beauty within each of them (and sell magazines, natch). It's works, of course. Women are clamouring for the latest issue as soon as it hits the stands. And you gotta give credit to Whitney and his team, they sincerely want to help women. Well, all except Della! The story is full of fantasy, too. It's an original mixture. When Venus says things like “beauty comes from within... from beautiful character and radiant personality” it’s hard not to be charmed by her shtick.
