3D Modeling 7 - Reflection
Overall, I am very happy with the scene I was able to create. I think itg created an appealing visual aesthetic - am especially proud of the water and the corals.
The main area of improvement that I think the scene could have used is lighting. I think the lighting I was able to achieve was good and worked well with the scene, however in future 3D projects I would like to create more dramatic, complicated or believable lighting. Particularly with the red sunset lighting, I feel that while it looks appealing, it does not look exatcly as how sunset lighting should look. In future projects I would like to potentially experiment with the Arnold rendering as well.
I think having flat or simple ramp gradient textures works well in this scene, as having detailed textures on low poly models such as the cave rock walls would not have worked well. I think that in future projects, I would like to experiment with having more hand painted textures and higher-poly models.

Re-learning animation in OpenToonz!
Last time I animated in 2D was a little over 2 years ago. I'm more interested in 3D animation. However, because my 3D skills been sharply trending towards a more stylized look, I need to practice 2D hand-drawn animation so that I can add that into 3D NPR styled animation (I.E think how Spiderverse and Puss and Boots handles their animation).
More skills to add to the pile :DD
I'm really holding up the "Jack of Trades, Master of None". I like learning new things and using new skills between projects.
Unfortunately, this means I don't develop a specialty in any creative field. I also miss out on some high paying creative jobs because of this. But there are studios looking for artists who focus on multiple disciplines for certain departments.

i've been working on recreating the Wright Anything Agency office (as shown in Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney) for the past 3 and a half months as my final project for school and here is the finished product!

Ohhhhh do you have any favorite blender tutorials? TBH lately I've been wanting to try but got overwhelmed with where to start!
ooo yes of course dear blender fellow friend
BUT
ideally if you know the basics how to naviagte in the program, i super recommend doing 3D Greenhorn's exercises
They are fast, efficient, go straight to the point and explain every single moves they make

You end up with very cute and simple exercises
super satisfying and it only makes you want to make more and more. You learn tons of new shortcuts and techniques, in super fun and intriguing way
As much as the Donut exercise is popular, i rly don't think it's the best to start personally. It's a bit logn and slow and you lose the rythm with how long the lessons are...
I never really picked up Blender, until I followed specifically 3D Greenhorn's exercises. My skils just sky rocketed after

by following their exercise, i could create these little guys aaa and i'm still so happy about them... Unlike my Maya projects I look at in SHAMEEE
it's already been 5 years since i started and i honestly could have never gotten where i am without their help
and it's super fun how you have the choice to try to reproduce exaclty their lessons, or take some liberty as you go. You can repeat as many times as you need

It's time for my once-a-semester update on why I've been so slow to post lately! I've been learning Zbrush for college, and I've been hard at work mastering the tools to make this Clairen model you see here!
For the class, we were asked to pick an existing character we could find reference of and model them throughout the semester. I picked Clairen from Rivals of Aether, because she's one of my favorites, she's got enough of a furry face that I get to try to adapt the human-oriented lessons to a different structure, but bipedal enough that I don't stray too far. I had a fun time getting used to all the little aspects of digital sculpting.
I then got it 3D printed for my college's student showcase! Picture 2 is actually the print on display at said showcase. I also showed off Mainframe and my recent group project Prison Break there (Prison Break will get its own post toward the end of the semester), along with my animations from last semester. It was a fun time!
Clairen was modeled using ZBrush, with a lowpoly bust modeled in Maya and textured in Substance Painter.
