Okay. Update.

I have not expected for the last 48 hours to be as they were.

I have over a thousand new followers. My inbox is full. I have received the information that I now have the entire local theatre company's prop department at my disposal, apparently. Members of my film club have apparently seen my post on Reddit. This is, for lack of a better word, fucking insane.

So here's what's gonna happen now: I am writing the script for the scene and it'll probably be done by next week. I'll most likely start filming in early December, depending on other stuff because I'm involved in a minimum of three other film projects, one of which has a deadline.

I am gonna film Katya's death scene, because tbh I don't have anyone who looks like Bob de Niro or Al Pacino at my disposal atm, but I do have someone blonde and someone willing to do Sofia.

In the meantime, thank you for your overwhelming support and I don't need any help in terms of script writing or anything anymore.

Happy new year everyone!

Only a few hours left until we turn our back to whatever was going on in 2022 and start living in 2023, which is hopefully going to be as uneventful and boring as possible.

Since I was curious, I decided to let this Heritage blog run through the tumblr year in review, just to see how many Heritage posts there already are, how the Sexyman tournament played into all this e.t.c.

Unfortunately I didn't knew how I could change the Language on it, meaning that I had to go through the entire thing and translate everything from German to English manually. If you find any mistakes you know why.

Slowly but surely we are reaching the conclusion of this Tournament, and our remaining participants are ready to give everything they have in round 3!

The semi-finals take place out in the wide fields of England, in a town that has quite a significant place in the heart of our Professor and especially his apprentice. Known for its thick fog, it’s folktales, and the huge archeological found that is the Golden Garden, Misthallery is a place full of mystery’s and puzzles. Unfortunately though, the rumors of the Golden Garden also attracted the attention of one person in particular, who used the tale of the specter’s call to scare the townsfolk so that they can dig for the Garden themselves. This very same person is still in the contest, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the residents of misthallery aren’t all that happy to see this masked man back in their town. But of course, that isn’t going to stop him.

Round 3, the semi-finals, will start on the 03.11!

Of course you may ask dear Anon, with regards to La Fayette you may ask me anything. :-)

La Fayette is often (and rightly so) perceived vastly different by the “Amrev-Community” than by the “Frev-Community”. It should be acknowledged that both camps are often a bit over the top with their assessment of La Fayette. He was neither that “good” nor that “bad” - that not how history works in my opinion.

But to be frank, La Fayette did not exactly covered himself in glory during the French Revolution. He often meant well … but that is not always enough.

We first have to set the stage: The French and the American Revolution are often called “sister revolutions” but whoever really studied one or both of these revolutions will probably agree with me when I say that these two events were still vastly different from each other. I think La Fayette misunderstood and miscalculated the situation during the French Revolution. La Fayette’s role in the American Revolution was a military one, there was a certain political element as well, but nothing compared to his role in the (early stages of the) French Revolution.

La Fayette was a man who placed a great importance on principles and moral concepts. He meant well but had trouble understanding why not everybody was agreeing with him - because as I said, he meant well. He was absolute determined to be a leader in this revolution but that did not quite worked out. He tried to be everywhere at once and that obviously did not work out as well.

La Fayette was a centrist, general in support of the King and the monarchy but also outspoken about reforms. Early on, such a position could be kept up but the more the revolution progressed the harder it was to follow a middle path. And La Fayette made enemies - influential, powerful, gifted enemies.

Another problem was La Fayette’s taste for fame and glory. Something that he pursued during the revolution and that can easily be twisted to make him look like a power-hungry villain.

La Fayette became the first commander of the newly established Parisian National Guard. While his command of the National Guard can generally be seen as a success in his life, the Guard also gave La Fayette a headache more than once. The National Guard could be fiercely loyal on a good day… or they threatend La Fayette to kill him. La Fayette was often accused of using the Guard as his “private army”. Especially the way he sometimes dealt with pro-revolutionary printers and journalists was criticised. There were also instances however were the nobles were uncertain if La Fayette might use his command against them.

Then there was the Champ de Mars massacre. I made a detailed post about the event here - in short, we do not exactly know what really happened that day but even if we assume the absolute best scenario, La Fayette still stands as a weak leader who had no control about his armed guard and could not prevent the death of innocent people. But the Champ the Massacre was not the only mishap with the Guard. The National Guard (and therefor) La Fayette was tasked with keeping the King and the royal family at the Tuileries Palace … but suddenly they had fled. Either La Fayette had instructed his guard to turn a blind eye (what many people believed) or the guard was simply unable to fulfil a simple task and La Fayette had not enough control over them to order them to fulfil such a task without being blinded by personal loyalties. To add insult to injury, La Fayette proclaimed that the King had been kidnapped … a completely unbelievable story.

La Fayette became so unpopular indeed that it almost was comical. Most courtiers detested him for being too revolutionary, most revolutionaries mistrusted him because he was still too friendly with the ancient regime. There was a contemporary caricature where a monarchist and a revolutionary had strung La Fayette up on a street light - while doing so they had a conversation that they both hated each other but they each hated La Fayette even more. La Fayette was forced to flee France because the leaders of the Revolution wanted to arrest him (for being anti-revolutionary), just to be captured and imprisoned by the Prussians and Austrians for being an “instigator of the Revolution”.

I give you a short excerpt from a letter La Fayette wrote to George Washington on August 23, 1790. He describes here his position and the general atmosphere in his own words - while it is a very subjective statement, it still shows all the different groups and endeavours he was connected to at the time, how things generally stood and also that he greatly miscalculated the political climate. Spoilers ahead, La Fayette thought that France would be done with the Revolution by the end of 1790 … we all know how well that went.

Now we are disturbed with Revolts among the Regiments—and as I am Constantly Attacked on Both Sides By the Aristocratic and the Factious party, I don’t know to which of the two we owe these insurrections—our Safe guard Against them Lies with the National guard—There is more than a Million of Armed Citizens—Among them Patriotism Reigns—and my influence with ’em, is as Great as if I Had Accepted the Chief Command. I Have lately lost Some of My favour with the Mob, and displeased the frantic lovers of licentiousness, as I am Bent on Establishing a legal Subordination—But the Nation at large are Very thankfull to me for it—it is Not out [of] the Heads of the Aristocrats to make a Counter Revolution—Nay, they do what they Can with all the Crowned Heads of Europe who Hate us like the devil—But I think their plans will Be either Abandonned or Unsuccessfull—I am Rather more Concerned with a division that Rages in the Popular Party—the Clubs of the jacobines, and 89 it is Called, Have divided the friends of liberty who accuse each other, jacobines Being taxed with a disorderly Extravagance, and 89 with a tincture of Ministerialism, and Ambition—I am Endeavouring to Bring about a Reconciliation—the affair of the 6th of October will Be Reported in the House Next week. I don’t think there will Be Against duke d’orleans, and am Sure there Are Not Against Mirabeau Sufficient Charges to impeach them—there is Some thing Cloudy in the Present Systems of those two men, altho’ they do not Seem Actually Connected—they are Both Cowards—But the prince most particularly So.

I Hope our Business will End with the Year—at which time this So much Blackened Cromwell, this Ambitious dictator, Your friend, Shall most deliciously Enjoy the Hapiness to Give up all power, all public Cares, and to Become A private Citizen in a free Monarchy, the Constitution of which, altho’ I Could not Help its’ Being Very defective Now, will lay a foundation for the Most Excellent one to Be Made in a few years.

In short, the Revolution, and La Fayette’s position therein, was more complex, he had more direct power and influence, there were more people who generally disliked him and he made some very questionable decisions.

La Fayette’s role in the French Revolution was too complex to give a comprehensive analysis in a single post, but I hope my answer could at least give you a first insight into the topic. I hope you have/had a great day!

"General Washington is so worried ..."

The instance where La Fayette and George Washington napped together under a tree after the Battle of Monmouth is always a favourite - but are we going to talk about the instance where, after many months of unreliable postal service, La Fayette finally had a safe opportunity to write to his wife. He was writing a long letter and took his dear time, to the point where Washington personally came to him to make sure that he would finish the letter in time and would not miss his opportunity.

La Fayette to his wife Adrienne, October 7-10, 1780:

French Original:

Le Gal. Washington a tant de crainte qu'à force de griffonner je ne perde l'occasion de vous ecrire, qu'il vient chés moi pour me presser de finir mes lettres. L'exprès attend depuis hier au quartier general qui est à deux lieues d'ici etje vais pour lui Recommander mon [paquet].

English Translation:

General Washington is so worried that as a result of my scribbling I shall miss the chance to mail this to you, that he comes to my quarters to urge me to finish my letters. The express rider has been waiting since yesterday at headquarters, which is two leagues from here, and I am leaving to deliver my packet to him.

How was Lafayette as a father? I know he got closer to his daughters while in prison but do we have more than just that?

And how was he as a husband? nlg I do know he could definetly be a better one and some of the stuff he did (at least to our view atm) weren't the greatest at all, also how was that all viewed during his time? Thank you =)

The question is highly subjective but I will try to give you an objective answer.

La Fayette was involved in his children’s life and included his children in all of his letters when in England or America - I give you a few examples from the first volume of Lafayette in the Age of the American Revolution. The first letters feature primarily Henriette and (the unborn) Anastasie. Other letters in later volumes also feature Anastasie and George but by the time La Fayette’s younger children were born, the war in America was almost at an end and he was able to spend more time at home - we thus have fewer letters.

La Fayette to Adrienne, March 7, 1777:

But you know my heart, or at least its sincerity, and you will believe me, I trust, always, when I assure you that it loves you forever, with the strongest and most tender affection. Kiss our dear Henriette twenty times for me.

La Fayette to Adrienne, March 16, 1777:

Good-bye, good-bye, write to me often, every day. Embrace our dear Henriette. And, moreover, you are pregnant, all of which adds to my torment.

La Fayette to Adrienne, April 19, 1777:

(I absolutely love La Fayette’s self-assessment in the letter from June 19, 1777.)

As I already said, this is a rather small sample size compared to how many of such letters are available but I think we all get the point. La Fayette was deeply invested in the welfare of his children; he cared for their health and happiness and was physically affectionate with them (or tried to substitute this physical affection when he was away from them.) It should be noted though, that his children never really stopped him from leaving home but they contributed greatly to La Fayette being at times terrible homesick.

Something that we today maybe take for granted but that was rather special in the 18th century was the circumstance that La Fayette did not really differentiated between his son and his daughters. Sure, he liked to have a son but the matters never appeared to be too pressing for him - partially because he and Adrienne were still young and had no trouble conceiving, partially because he was truly happy with having healthy daughters.

When the news of the birth of his daughter Anastasie reached him, many people tried to cheer him up, because Anastasie was again “just” a daughter - and La Fayette was having none of that.

La Fayette to Adrienne, February 3, 1778:

You will already have received several letters in which I speak of the birth of our new child and of the joy this delightful event has given me. If I thought that you suspected this satisfaction suffered some diminution because our Anastasie is only a daughter, in truth, my dearest, I would be so angry with you that for a few minutes I would love you only a little. Ah, dear heart, what a delicious pleasure to embrace you all!

I just recently had a little chat with @acrossthewavesoftime about some of the historical merchandise of La Fayette that circulated – especially during the time of his Triumphant Tour in America 1824/25. Since the anniversary of said Tour is right around the corner (well, relatively speaking) I thought we have a look at some of the “best sellers” of the day for everybody who wants to celebrate in style.

I have to say that this is a very, very shallow summary of all the different items that were created and sold back then. The golden rule is, if La Fayette’s face or name or anything at all related to him could be put on a certain item, it was done. No matters how absurd and out there the item was, there was a very eager market for everything even remotely La Fayette related.

@echo-bleu was kind enough to find me and to help me find some important legal documents connected to La Fayette and his family. Mostly birth-, marriage- and death-certificates. Among these documents is La Fayette's Acte de Décès (his certificate of death) from May 20, 1834. It is not the original document (since that one was destroyed in a fire) but a reconstruction of the original. Thank you again @echo-bleu for all your help and research!

If you love Silrah this is basically a must read because it is pure GOLD. It's a angsty, intense Bodyguard AU that had me hooked from the first chapter with its beautiful, vibrant and jaw-dropping writing, the angst and pining, on spot characterizations and immersive AU-worldbuilding.

I am so addicted in love with this fanfic I can only wholeheartedly recommend it!

Favorite Scene

Honestly my favorite scenes of the show are all Silrah related and I think it's quite obvious why.

First I couldn't decide between the Greenhouse scene and this one but even though I adore the Greenhouse scene this one just opens up a whole other level of character depth for both Farah and Saul and then Ben with them bantering and talking about their past and downing shots together....

From the *hands* to Farahs laugh I adore this scene and of course the underlying silrah angst is delicious....

That scene here is the most normal sibling interaction between the fire sibs, I can relate because when I ask my sister for something she just loves to include an I insulting remark, like a typical sister, annoying her older brother to hell. I think without the adults in their life failing them and an non abusive household those two could have been very close, I mean the show gave us hints, with for example the blind teamwork between those two. All in all this was just peak sibling behavior.

4t2 Guidry Collection

Yeah! I finally can upload my first 4t2 clothes. :)   It took me a long time because the pants and outfit had some problems with the knees. It’s still not perfect but it’s not that bad anymore. :) All are for adult male only and don’t have morphs since I’m still learning. Doors of perception

“And then there was one.” The Watcher says and takes a deep breath. He knows this won’t be easy with her. He knows what she endured. He saw it all and it broke his heart.

“I won’t go back there.” She says matter-of-factly. “My world is …” It takes her a moment to consider how to name it. Her world… her world was Clint. And he is… “… gone! You won, but I lost.” Yes, she lost everything. Literally. Not only she lost Clint, but there was no one left. As far as she knows Clint and her were the last human beings left on earth. Ultron and his army of robots killed each and every human on the planet and even most of the animals. And they invaded other planets too. So was he really going to send her back to a dead world?

“I cannot…” the Watcher starts but she cuts him off.

“… interfere? Yeah, I know!” Natasha turns to him now, anger and pain sprawled all over her face and waving through her whole body.

“We’re just stories to you. We’re not real. You watch us fight, win, lose… tell me: Did you make popcorn while Ultron murdered my friends and burned my world to the ground?” That’s what it feels like for her. He saw all this happening and chose not to help. How can he live like that… exist like that? She definitely couldn’t.

“You are more than that to me. You… your stories… they… are everything for me.” It’s dawning to her that the huge creature with the glowing eyes in front of her maybe never had a life for his own. So he lived through them.

“Then fix my world!” she pleads, her voice softer now but still full of pain.

“I can’t, Natasha.” It sounds honest but it makes her angry again. He is so powerful. Why can’t he help her?

“I’m not walking through that door!” It’s a statement. No space for discussion. If he wants to send her back to that dead world so she can spend the rest of her miserable existence in solitary, he can better kill her right here and now. Maybe if there is some sort of afterlife, she would be reunited with her friends then, her family… Clint.

“Well… the door was more of a metaphor anyway.” He states and the surrounding of the bar is melting away. Natasha braces herself, not knowing where he is going to bring her. Not knowing how she could possibly fight him if he is really going to return her to this pile of ashes that once was her world. But he is not. He knows several universes which lost their Black Widow, several universes where she could do good, where she would be needed. It wasn’t easy to decide where the best place for her was. She really had earned herself a place where she could find a happy ending.

Episode 5 - Under the skin

It’s not a sloppy dog tongue that wakes him nor the rising sun. It’s also no sound because he took out his hearing aids. No, what wakes him - and when it does it’s already past noon - is the delicious smell of coffee and fried bacon.

He prys his eyes open and sees the cup of coffee still steaming at the edge of the coffee table near his head. He reaches for his hearing aids next to the mug and puts them in. When he turns them on, he hears music and a low humming and singing voice from the kitchen.

While he thinks about which song this might be, he lifts his head from the couch and sees Natasha swaying her hips to the music at the stove. She is still wearing his clothes and obviously in a pretty good mood. He smiles with a sigh.

“I could wake up every day like this.” he mumbles in a low voice, too low to catch her attention over the music.

Still smiling he sits up and grabs the coffee mug, smelling the aroma. By finishing half the mug she turns in a dancing move and stops by his sight.

“Oh sorry, did I wake you? You looked so exhausted we wanted to let you sleep as long as possible.” she says with a little shrug and a half smile.

“Then you shouldn’t bring coffee near me… that’s a trigger.” He takes another sip. “And bacon? You’re lucky not the whole apartment house is already here.” He ruffles through his hair and she laughs a bit.

“You have a really bad case of bed head, Barton. But I have to say… it suits you.”

1. Whump

"This is your last chance, Widow!"

The sour smell of the mobsters breath made her nauseous. Like he drank strong coffee mixed with cheap booze directly out of a trash can full of cigarette butts and fish waste.

"NO!" She spat the word and drops of blood and spit spashed across the guys face. "This is YOUR last chance! Let me go, or I guarantee ... you won't like what happens next." Despite her tightly bound body and bruised features she had an evil grin in her face. But the man just laughed and his companions with him.

"Are you trying to threaten me, little spider? You aren't quiet in the position, don't you think? What do you want to do?" Of course he was mocking her. People often mock about others if they think they have the upper hand. Until they don't...

"Kill them all!" Her voice was low. She knew she didn't have to speak loud... only move her lips properly.

Another laugh. "What? Do you think you can command me and I do as you wish, silly girl? Have I beaten you too hard in the head?"

"Oh... who said I was talking to you?" Her voice so sweet and the expression on his face so clueless. It stays that way only his eyes a little wider when an arrow impales his head.

....

2. Fluff

"This is your last chance, Widow!" He whispers softly and licks his lower lip, his eyes not leaving hers. "I warn you one last time. Keep looking at me like that... and I can't guarantee for anything!"

"We are on a mission, Hawk!" She taunts him but the grin on her lips is the one of a cat that just got the bird. "Are you really distracted so easily?"

"Easily? You are teasing me for days now! I'm just a man and not immune to a gorgeous woman and her charms." He is breathing heavy now and their cramped hideout suddenly seems even tighter.

He caught her of guard, he can tell by the way her gaze changes and her lips part slightly.

"What? I'm deaf, not blind! But... you know... you're my best friend and... "

"Shut up!" She presses him to the wall with their bodys colliding and and lips crashing. He reacts immediately, one hand sliding to her hip, the other buried in her hair, tongue diving into her mouth. This is what electricity must taste like, he thinks when he hears a crackling in his good ear.

"Team Delta... show time!" Never has Phil's voice sound so unnerving and they both groan as they part.

"I guess we have to continue this later, Widow. Ready?" He asks while he fixes her hairstyle.

"No... but I'll be right behind you, having your back, Hawk... like always!"

Some early morning Clintasha

It's early morning and Clint is not even half awake. But there is a briefing in half an hour. So he is in the kitchen fumbling with the coffee maker and spilling coffee powder all over the counter. "Aw coffee no!" He groans and yawns afterwards.

Warm arms wrap around his waist and a familiar body press against his unclothed back. Her hands roam his belly and her lips press against his shoulder.

"Why don't you get this thing going and meet me in the shower... and get me going?" She purrs into his ear... and suddenly he is full awake!

Living in my little "We love and appreciate Clint Barton as the wonder he is"-bubble I keep forgetting how the rest of the world sees and treats him.

Tried to convince my sister - a regular MCU watcher without comic or any beyond Fandom knowledge - to watch the Hawkeye series with me. Even started the trailer since I thought it would help the matter. And she was like "Nah, he's so boring. No powers or anything. And look at that trailer. He doesn't even seem to be good in what he's doing." I nearly hyperventilated.

Thank you MCU for making one of the most badass, deep and fun characters look like a pathetic whimp for the average audience. 😓

Summary:

John is leaning in, head bent low towards the curly-haired guy he’s talking to. Rodney is a little annoyed instantly because hey, what’s so important they would need to whisper it? Why isn’t John pulling him into this?

And then John reaches out and pulls the other guy in. Over the table, by his neck, and suddenly this other guy is kissing John.
