The actress: *plays a man*
The philosopher: A man playing this man would barely have worked on the manliness in it, and we came to see many details we perceive as commonly human when a woman played the man, or to be precise, played the part, now as typically masculine. So in matters of gender, an actor, if he's a man, has to bring some of what a woman would give to a man, and if she is a woman, bring some of what a man would give to a woman.
(Der Messingkauf, 1937-1951)
Commentary: Bertolt Brecht was literally telling yall to do drag almost a century ago!
