The Glam Life: daily routines for a polished life. 💋
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sunday: Reset & Reflect Start with a deep cleanse—face mask, detox tea, and a peaceful journal session. Reflect on the past week, set intentions for the next, and list three things you’re grateful for. This is your day to unwind, reset, and prep for success.
Monday: Fresh Blowout & Big Shades Start the week strong with a fresh blowout. Smooth, glossy, and ready to conquer. Pair with oversized sunglasses for that mysterious, empowered look. Bring an extra boost by planning a bold outfit that makes you feel invincible.
Tuesday: Brows & Browsing Shape your brows to perfection—it’s a small detail that makes a huge impact on your overall look. Afterward, treat yourself to a quick scroll through your favorite style inspiration, bookmarking anything that makes you feel iconic. Style starts with inspiration.
Wednesday: Mani & Diamond Shine Keep your nails sharp and sophisticated, opting for a classic French or deep red. Slip on a ring or two (or five). Hands tell a story, so make sure yours speak of elegance and confidence. Midweek is the perfect time to touch up on hydration, too—think hand creams and cuticle oils.
Thursday: Exfoliate & Hydrate Buff away the week’s worries with a luxe body scrub, followed by a rich, hydrating body lotion or oil. Glowing, smooth skin radiates confidence, so keep it moisturized and ready to be admired. Pair with a hydrating face mask to keep everything refreshed.
Friday: Glow Serum, Gloss, & Signature Scent Skip the self-tan and reach for a brightening glow serum instead. This will give your skin a fresh, natural radiance that looks effortlessly luminous. Follow with a glossy lip and your signature scent to add allure. Enter the weekend looking polished, radiant, and ready to take on any room with grace and confidence.
Saturday: Active Beauty & Leisure Today, beauty meets movement. Whether it’s a dance class, yoga, or a brisk walk, get active and enjoy the natural glow that follows. Afterward, embrace leisure: light a candle, sip on your favorite drink, and give yourself permission to relax with a facial roller or a nourishing hair mask. You deserve it.
Each day brings a fresh intention and a luxurious touch to keep you feeling powerful and radiant all week long. It's a full week of showing up as your best self—stylish, strong, and completely in your element.

Chapter 16: Masquerade
(Word count: 2,930)
You could feel Sebastian’s eyes on you from across the Charms classroom. It seemed foolish, but you couldn’t bring yourself to look at him.
The two of you hadn’t spoken to each other since the incident before dinner the other night. But most of your schoolmates had done more than enough talking. The rumors had already been floating around, their glares and whispers accompanying you in the hallway between classes.
“Ugh—ignore them! They’re just jealous, that’s all,” Samantha had assured you.
And you did, quite easily. By now, you were used to people talking about you. Both good and bad things.
But you hated fighting with Sebastian. You still hadn’t even had the chance to tell him what happened in London. Perhaps it was time to let it go—surely, he wanted to apologize and make it up to you.
You decided you’d talk to him after class.
On your way out of Charms, however, you saw him with Adelaide Oakes. Smiling and laughing. Something ugly twisted in your stomach at the sight of them together.
You turned and walked away.
Midweek, in Defense Against the Dark Arts, you sat down wordlessly next to Sebastian. Unfortunately, it was the one class you had together where you couldn’t avoid him.
“Alright, class, let us begin,” Professor Hecat declared. “Today’s lesson will be a bit different than our usual defensive practices. In preparation for this week’s festivities, I will be instructing you on an equally challenging and dangerous skill: ballroom dancing.”
A few chuckles escaped your classmates.
“Now, if you would, please clear the desks from the middle of the floor and pair up with your partner.”
Merlin, this was going to be awkward. You hadn’t spoken to each other in almost three days and now you had to dance together?
Once the floor was cleared, the two of you stood an arm’s length apart waiting for Hecat’s instruction.
“Alright, I’m sorry,” Sebastian broke first, “I overstepped the other day…with Emrys.”
You sighed in relief, then felt a pang of guilt. “Perhaps I was a bit harsh—”
“Now, typically the leading partner will place their right hand at the small of the other’s back,” Hecat began instructing. “Following partners, your left hand will be placed on the leading’s right shoulder. Then, the two of you will clasp your free hands, like so. She was using a pair of students toward the front of the classroom to demonstrate.
With a flick of her wand, the record player began a slow, classical tune, urging everyone else to follow along. Sebastian moved first, assuming the lead but keeping a respectful distance between you.
“No, you weren’t,” he picked up your previous conversation. “I deserved it. I was an ass.”
You laughed, nodding in agreement.
“I saw you…talking with Adelaide after Charms the other day," you replied casually. "Were you asking her to be your date to the ball?”
Sebastian’s brows furrowed in confusion as he looked down at you. “Of course—”
Professor Hecat interrupted yet again, giving instructions on adding more complicated steps like dips and spins.
“Of course not,” Sebastian said as soon as she finished speaking. “She asked me, but I politely declined.”
“Mr. Sallow, I don’t see any spinning back there!” Professor Hecat was eyeing the two of you.
“Hold on,” he whispered to you and grinned. He quickly spun you out and back into position. You couldn’t help the giggles that escaped you.
The room still seemed to be spinning when he spoke again, “I want to go to the ball with you.”
“...Really?”
“Obviously.”
You smiled. “Well, then, I guess you have a date.”
⋆。°✩
“Relax! You’re making me nervous just looking at you,” Samantha chastised at your reflection.
You were seated at the vanity in the dorm room while Samantha stood behind you, styling your hair. She wasn’t lying when she said she was excellent at it. Your hair had been tamed into an elegant updo, and her own fell in dark curls down her back, some of it pulled up in an intricate twist decorated with pearls.
“One final touch,” she said once she finished your hair. She donned your mask for you, tying the ribbon in a perfect bow at the back of your head.
You observed your full reflection in the standing mirror as she affixed her own mask. The gown, the gloves, the shoes, the mask…you definitely didn’t think anyone would be able to recognize you.
The dainty silver chain of your locket was visible around your neck, the locket itself falling into the bodice of the dress. Samantha had begged you to take it off, offering one of her finer necklaces to wear instead, but you refused.
Once the finished touches were made, the two of you met Andrew in the common room. He was dressed in finery, wearing a simple mask of light blue to match Samantha’s dress.
“Wow, you both look amazing!” Andrew complimented, holding his elbow out to Samantha.
“We know,” she smiled, taking his arm.
As the three of you made your way toward the Great Hall, your nervousness melted into excitement at the sight of your schoolmates in their evening attire. The masks, of course, made it difficult to recognize any familiar faces.
You began walking down the Grand Staircase with the rest of the crowd, steeling your nerves when you noticed a trio at the bottom, awaiting your arrival.
⋆。°✩
Sebastian Sallow could recall exactly three moments in his life when the wind had been completely and utterly knocked out of him.
Once, when he was first learning to play quidditch at Hogwarts and a teammate had hit him in the stomach with a Bludger.
Another, in a Crossed Wands duel, when he had failed at using Protego fast enough against an exceptionally well cast Depulso.
And now, seeing you descend the Grand Staircase.
Even with the mask, he knew it was you. He was sure he could recognize you anywhere.
“Apologies, we’re a bit late,” you said by way of greeting.
“Oh, Merlin, I didn’t even realize that was you,” Anne said, delighted. “Your dress—it’s even more lovely than you described!”
Sebastian swallowed thickly.
Asking you to be his date had been the only thing on Sebastian’s mind since the ball was announced two weeks ago. In class, during quidditch practice, even in the common room, where he had been forced to listen to Imelda complain about how this week’s match against Gryffindor had been rescheduled due to the festivities.
Unfortunately, he had also been hesitant. He was unsure of how you’d react–if it would be too forward, if he’d cross that line he knew you both tiptoed around constantly…but, after seeing Emrys attempt to steal you away, Sebastian didn’t care what you’d think anymore. He wanted to be the one on your arm tonight. No one else.
Not that he could ever admit that to you.
“No worries, we haven’t been waiting long," Sebastian finally replied after remembering how to form sentences. "Looks like loads of people are still making their way to the Great Hall.”
“Well, we’d better keep up,” a girl in blue urged, appearing from the staircase. Samantha Dale, he realized. “I don’t want to miss another minute!”
With that, the group continued onward. Determined to redeem himself, Sebastian took your arm and looped it through his own. “Fantastic choice of color.”
You laughed and looked down at your skirts. “I had a sneaking suspicion you’d appreciate it.”
“Appreciate” was an understatement. Seeing you in his house color made Sebastian feel almost light-headed.
“I think Slytherin green suits you much better than Ravenclaw blue,” he teased.
Even though you agreed to be his date, Sebastian wasn’t so bold as to assume you felt for him even a fraction of what he felt for you. But going to the ball together was a pleasant sign. A definite maybe.
Even if you only thought of this as some obligation as his best friend and nothing more…he’d still keep hoping.
⋆。°✩
Your heart was racing.
You couldn’t stop peeking at Sebastian as he led you through the Great Hall-turned-ballroom. He looked especially handsome dressed in his formal attire, his green mask making his eyes pop.
The Hall was bedecked in finery. Carved pumpkins floated overhead, flickering with candlelight, and the house tables had all been cleared from the middle of the floor. One large banquet table remained, pushed against a far wall and topped with all kinds of foods, cakes, and candies.
A band of instruments played themselves in a corner, filling the Hall with music. A few pairs of witches and wizards danced across the middle of the floor, the rest of the crowd spreading out around them to watch or sitting at smaller round tables closer to the entrance.
Gowns and suits and masks of every shade and style filled the space. A few of your Professors were easier to pick out of the crowd, but most of the students and older-looking figures were lost to you.
Oh right, there’s British Ministry of Magic officials here tonight…
You quickly realized that all of the Ministry witches and wizards wore the same style of golden mask, making them easier to distinguish. Sebastian leaned closer to speak over the music and chatter.
“Ominis says there’s all sorts of position representatives here tonight. He’s got family in the Ministry, though I doubt they’d show up for a school event like this.”
“Really? That’s a bit shocking,” you replied.
“I thought the same, but their family strives for prestige. Can’t get higher than the Ministry, I suppose.”
The six of you found an empty table and decided to take a moment to catch your breaths. You were delighted when Garreth, Natty, and Poppy turned up a few moments later.
“Emrys was supposed to meet me here,” Natty spoke as she sat down next to you. “But he cancelled at the last minute.”
“Oh, I’m sorry Natty,” you replied, feeling slightly awkward since he had originally asked you. She sighed.
“It is alright, he said it was a family emergency,” she leaned in closer and dropped her voice to a whisper. “He lost his mother this past summer. It is why he and his father moved back here. His father originally accepted a position to teach Magical Theory, but hasn’t been coping well with the loss.”
Magical Theory—that was Professor Fig’s old class. You swallowed the lump forming in your throat.
Poor Emrys…
It made sense that he and Natty had grown close. They, unfortunately, came to Hogwarts under very similar circumstances. You suddenly felt guilty over your apprehension towards him and was glad he’d had Natty to turn to.
A few moments later, Professor Black called for everyone’s attention. He made a quick—and rather dramatic—speech about the history of All Hallows’ Eve, and thanked the Ministry officials for their attendance. Professor Weasley then joined to welcome the students. She encouraged you all to enjoy the festivities and take advantage of the opportunity to speak with the Ministry.
Once the music resumed, Sebastian turned to you. “Well, that lengthy speech of Black’s made me thirsty. Would you like a drink or something else from the banquet table?”
You shook your head, too nervous to eat or drink anything. He promised to return swiftly.
“Alright, I’ve had enough sitting around. Let’s go dance!” Samantha said to the table as she stood, taking Andrew with her.
“Oh, I agree!” Poppy chimed in.
Garreth helped her out of her chair, grinning. “I’ll try not to step on your toes too much, but no promises.” An unexpected pair, those two, but you thought they’d work well together. If anyone had the patience for Garreth’s antics, it was Poppy.
“I should probably wait for Sebastian to get back,” you said as Anne and Ominis stood as well.
“Nonsense,” Anne replied. “He’ll find us eventually!”
“You must come keep me company,” Natty said as she pulled you up from your chair.
Before you knew it, you watched with Natty as your friends swept across the floor. Somehow, Anne had coaxed a stubborn Ominis out there as well. It was always hard for him to say no to her, though.
You kept an eye out for Sebastian and found him conversing with a golden-masked wizard by the banquet table.
“I am so glad you and Sebastian finally found each other,” Natty said when she noticed where your attention was. “I was beginning to worry he was as dense as they come.”
You immediately turned back to your friend.
“Oh, we’re not…” you struggled for the word. “We’re not together. We’re just here as…friends.”
Natty’s mouth fell slightly agape, the rest of her expression a bit hard to read behind her mask. “Well, that is definitely not what everyone else seems to think.”
You guessed you were partially to blame for that. You’d done nothing to dispel the rumors circulating about your relationship with Sebastian. Apparently, neither had he.
You weren’t quite sure what to make of that.
As the next song began, a gentleman approached the two of you and asked Natty to dance with him. She quickly looked at you, her eyes seemed to say will you be alright on your own?
You smiled and nodded, and he whisked her away.
Shortly after that song ended, you felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned to find Sebastian standing there, a hand extended toward you.
“Care for a dance? It’d be a bloody shame to put all of Hecat’s training to waste.”
Grinning, you slipped your gloved hand into his. “I suppose a song or two wouldn’t hurt. She’d be so very disappointed without at least one spin.”
As Sebastian led you to the middle of the floor, butterflies began to take flight in your stomach. A slow, romantic piece began to play. He placed a hand at the small of your back and gently pulled you closer. Much closer than in Hecat’s classroom the other day.
You moved together, easily recalling the dance’s steps. About halfway through the song, Sebastian gave you an almost shy smile.
“You look beautiful, by the way,” he said.
“Oh…thank you,” you replied, trying to calm your erratic heartbeat. “You look quite dashing yourself.”
“I guess I do clean up nicely,” he smirked, earning a laugh from you. “Get ready, here comes the spin.”
You twirled outwards in time with the music and the rest of the following partners. When you were pulled back in, you fell into a quick dip, Sebastian’s arms holding you tightly. As he slowly lifted you back upright, your faces mere inches apart, you felt it.
Just like that time in the Undercroft all those weeks ago, the line was completely gone. Only this time, you were absolutely certain Sebastian’s eyes fell to your lips–and lingered there. Heat rushed through you, and you were suddenly overcome with the desire to close the space between you.
It was as if you were the only two people left in the whole world.
You then had to remind yourself that you were, in fact, not the only two people left in the world. Or even in this room. You were in the middle of a crowded dance floor. In front of hundreds of other witches and wizards.
The realization was like a bucket of ice water dumped over you.
The song ended and you took a slightly-larger-than-necessary step backward. Sebastian, appearing flustered himself, cleared his throat.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to—”
“Mr. Sallow! Mind if I steal your date here for a dance?”
You turned to find the golden-masked wizard that Sebastian was speaking with earlier. He was tall, dark-haired, and, although the mask obscured most of his face, he appeared to be somewhere in his late twenties.
Sebastian’s grip on your hand tightened. “Actually, we were just leaving.”
“Come now, just one dance, I assure you,” the wizard insisted. “I’ll return her in one piece.”
The exchange was beginning to draw attention. Panicked, you released Sebastian's hand.
“Just one dance," you agreed to the Ministry wizard.
Sebastian locked eyes with you. Be careful, the look conveyed. You dipped your chin in response, and he walked to the edge of the onlooking crowd in defeat. The golden-masked wizard pulled you into position as a light-hearted song began to play. He led you through the easy steps and conversed with you over the music.
“I’ve heard an awful lot about you,” he said. “They call you Hogwarts’ Savior.”
“Unfortunately, I’m aware,” you replied briskly.
He laughed, voice smooth and deep. It felt…familiar, somehow. “You must be quite proud of such a reputation.”
“That’s one word for it, I suppose.”
“So, have you considered a position with the Ministry after completing your education here?”
“Truthfully, no. My mentor…he was a professor. I’ve more so considered following in his footsteps.”
“Eleazar Fig, yes, I recall–a tragic loss. My condolences,” he said in a tone that lacked any real sympathy. He seemed almost bored.
Suddenly annoyed, you asked, “Is there any particular reason you wanted to speak with me?”
“Just wanted to finally meet you in-person,” the wizard sighed. “My younger brother speaks very highly of you, but I find myself quite disappointed.”
Deciding to ignore the blatant rudeness of the last bit of his sentence, your brows knitted together in confusion. “Younger brother?”
He smiled and something about it made your skin crawl. “Yes, he’s a fellow sixth year student. I believe the two of you have grown quite close over the last year.”
As the wizard led you into a twirl, his grip on your hand tightened. Something hard press against your fingers.
A ring.
You froze.
“I-I see...and what is your name?”
He pulled you closer and whispered in your ear. Your eyes widened as you finally placed his voice. How could it have taken you this long, when it had haunted you endlessly all these weeks?
“Marvolo Gaunt.”

How to Choose the Right Near By Spa Center Near Me for a Relaxing Wellness Experience
With everything moving so quickly these days, recharging has become more crucial than ever. If you are trying to relieve stress, control pain, or simply take a break from daily activities, finding spa clinics in my area will provide you with the most suitable wellness getaway. The right spa not only assists you in disconnecting and healing but also helps you do that on a mental and physical level, and with the help of therapeutic massages and luxurious spas, it becomes that much easier.
There has been a recent increase in the looseness spa experience requirements which is a reason why people are searching for professionally designed wellness centers. If you have been trying to search for phrases like open spa near me or hotel near me with spa, there are a few things you should check before booking your session.
The search term near by spa center near me is not a phrase, it is a reflection of the evolving demand for professional wellness services that are readily accessible and conveniently located. Modern consumers would like to have quality spa services available to them within proximity to their homes, offices, and even hotels. Trustworthy spas nearby are particularly useful to people who need to plan for a quick midweek refresher or weekend wellness retreats.
Having a spa nearby also means easier access to wellness services—short travel time to and from the appointment, quick to rebook sessions, minimal stress, and enhanced flexibility. It allows for regular wellness services to turn into a lifestyle rather than viewing them as luxuries for relaxation.
Check for Hotel Spa Partnerships: Hotels Near Me With Spa
If you are traveling or are seeking luxury experiences, seeking hotel facilities like hotels near me with spa is a smart idea. In addition to being the most suitable option for combining business travel with wellness, spas placed in premium accommodation feature high-quality service delivery with trained therapists and well-maintained facilities and equipment in tranquil settings.

The Importance of Availability: Spa Open Near Me
Wellness service seekers appreciate service providers who conveniently offer what they are looking for at factors such as location, service type, and time. Due to tight schedules and unpredictable routines, spa-goers frequently look for a spa open near me to locate facilities with longer or more flexible hours. Location is a crucial consideration when booking a wellness service, especially for last-minute stress relief or open weekend spots.
Tattva Spa allows for convenient access to services like booking online- making it easy to fit relaxation into any part of your day. Wellness can be prioritized at any time during the week, even during meetings or after work, making your spa break easier than ever.
Exploring Signature Services at Tattva Spa
An equally important aspect of spa centers for me is the menu offered. Tattva ensures that all therapies available meet different wellness needs. Here are three of our most popular massage experiences:
Swedish Massage– Slender and vibrant movements of the hand are used, and the pressure applied is light to moderate during the treatment, which is a classic type of therapy. Ideal for: Travelers new to spas, calm and tranquility, enhanced sleeping.
Deep Tissue Massage– More muscular layers within the body are targeted, making this type of therapy more advanced. This is great for those suffering from chronic pain, muscle stiffness, or healing from a physically taxing activity. This technique breaks muscle tightness, increases movement ability and flexibility, and restores movement.
Recommended for: Athletes, desk workers, and those suffering from muscle tension or injuries.
Couple Massage– A couple massage lets two individuals receive their therapies simultaneously in a soothing and tranquil environment. It’s great for partners or friends who wish to relax together.
Recommended for: Celebrations, anniversaries, or shared wellness rituals.
Why Search Hotel Near Me With Spa? A Premium Experience Awaits

7 Days Retreat,
7 Days Retreat,
In today's fast-paced world, taking time to disconnect, recharge, and realign with oneself is more important than ever. A 7-day retreat offers the perfect opportunity to step away from daily stresses and embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery, relaxation, and healing. Whether nestled in the mountains, by the sea, or within a serene countryside, a retreat provides the ideal setting for mental, emotional, and physical renewal.
Day 1: Arrival and Intention Setting
The retreat begins with a warm welcome and an introduction to the space. Participants take time to settle in, meet fellow attendees, and set personal intentions for the week ahead. Gentle yoga, guided meditation, and a nutritious meal help ease into the experience.
Day 2: Detox and Deep Relaxation
The second day focuses on cleansing the body and mind. Nutritious meals, detox juices, and herbal teas aid in flushing out toxins. Activities such as breathwork, mindfulness exercises, and sound healing sessions promote deep relaxation and mental clarity.
Day 3: Connecting with Nature
Immersing in nature enhances the healing process. Guided nature walks, forest bathing, or a day by the ocean allow participants to connect with the earth's natural rhythms. Outdoor yoga or meditation deepens the sense of peace and presence.
Day 4: Inner Work and Emotional Release
Midweek, the retreat shifts towards introspection and emotional healing. Journaling, group discussions, and one-on-one coaching sessions help individuals confront and release emotional blockages. Holistic therapies such as Reiki, acupuncture, or energy healing may be offered.
Day 5: Creative Expression and Play
Creativity is a powerful tool for self-expression and healing. Activities such as painting, dancing, storytelling, or music therapy encourage participants to tap into their inner child and embrace joy and spontaneity.
Day 6: Renewal and Spiritual Growth
As the retreat nears its end, practices focus on spiritual connection and personal growth. Guided visualizations, gratitude rituals, and heart-opening ceremonies help participants gain clarity and inspiration for life beyond the retreat.
Day 7: Integration and Farewell
On the final day, participants reflect on their journey, integrate newfound insights, and prepare to return to their daily lives with a renewed sense of balance and purpose. A closing ceremony, sharing circle, and personalized action plan ensure a smooth transition.

What Color Should You Wear on Each Day of the Week?
Have you ever thought about how colors influence your mood, energy, and even your productivity? Choosing the right color to wear each day can help set the tone for your entire week. Different colors are believed to align with specific energies, emotions, and even planetary influences. Here's a simple and easy-to-follow guide on what colors to wear each day of the week and why.
Monday: White
Start your week fresh with the color white. Monday is associated with the Moon, which represents peace, purity, and clarity. Wearing white can help you feel calm and focused, preparing you to tackle the week ahead. Think crisp white shirts for men, soft white dresses, or even accessories like white scarves or shoes.
Tuesday: Red
Bring in the energy of Mars by wearing red on Tuesday. Red symbolizes power, confidence, and determination. It’s a great choice if you have important tasks, meetings, or workouts planned. Red can boost your energy and make you feel unstoppable. Choose a bold red shirt, dress, or even a touch of red lipstick or tie.
Printed Shirts for Men
Wednesday: Green
Green, the color of growth and harmony, is perfect for midweek. It can help you feel balanced and connected, making it ideal for brainstorming sessions or team meetings. Incorporate green through a shirt, blazer, or even a subtle accessory like a watch strap or earrings.
Printed shirt for men
Thursday: Yellow
Brighten up your Thursday with yellow, the color of joy and optimism. Jupiter, the planet associated with wisdom and prosperity, rules Thursday. Wearing yellow can uplift your mood and fill you with positive energy. Think yellow tops, skirts, or even golden-hued jewelry to radiate warmth and happiness.
Friday: Pink
Friday is all about love, beauty, and harmony, thanks to Venus. Pink is the perfect color to reflect these qualities. It’s a great choice for a date night, a casual outing, or just relaxing at the end of the week. Go for soft pastel pinks for a soothing vibe or vibrant pinks for a playful look.
Saturday: Black
Saturday’s energy is governed by Saturn, the planet of discipline and transformation. Black represents sophistication, strength, and introspection. Wearing black on Saturday can help you reflect and recharge. Choose classic black outfits, like a little black dress, a tailored black blazer, or simple black men t shirts paired with jeans.
Sunday: Orange
End your week on a bright note with orange, a color full of vitality and creativity. Sunday is ruled by the Sun, which represents energy, success, and self-expression. Orange can inspire you to relax, enjoy, and prepare for the upcoming week. Think vibrant orange dresses, casual tees, oversized  tshirt  or even subtle orange accessories like bags or scarves.

A Few Tips for Color Coordination:
Mix and Match: If wearing a single color feels overwhelming, try incorporating it as an accent through accessories, shoes, or jewelry.
Personal Style: Adapt these colors to your style. For example, if you’re not a fan of bright yellow, go for mustard or gold tones.
Seasonal Adjustments: Keep the weather in mind. Opt for lighter fabrics and softer shades in summer and deeper, richer tones in winter.
Confidence is Key: Wear what makes you feel good. Confidence can make any color look amazing on you.
By aligning your wardrobe with these daily color suggestions, you’ll not only look stylish but also feel more in tune with the energy of each day. So, why not give it a try? Start small, experiment, and see how these colors brighten your week!

Hello everyone, happy midweek!
I'm writing to you on a Wednesday morning and it is 8:27 and just sunrise over here, and when the kids left about 40 minutes ago it was definitely still dark. They rode their bikes to school and are donning lots of reflective gear, as is customary here. As the days get even longer and darker and colder, they will be even more bundled up and have more reflective gear on. People wear a snap-bracelet armbands and dangling reflective tchotchkes on their backpacks and clothes. People take being seen in the dark very seriously here!
The weather has continued to be so mild. I was reading an article in Yle, which is the national public broadcasting organization, or at least the one I know of, that was writing about this warm-front situated across Finland right now. Lapland had a record high temperature this week, or at least higher than it had been any day since the first decade of the 20th century! While we definitely still know that cold, dark, wet, and snowy weather will be upon us soon, I'm trying to appreciate still being able to go out and walk the dog and walk to the university without having to be appareled like a marshmallow. And even then, I'm worried that I won't be warm enough. When I lived in Michigan, even when it was negative 10 Fahrenheit and I thought that I had dressed appropriately for that, I think there is really just no dressing appropriately for that kind of temperature. People here in Finland believe, as surely you've heard people from cold climates say, "there's no bad weather, just bad clothing." I'm hoping I figure out the right clothing!
After our day trip to Jyväskylä last Saturday to visit the Alvar Aalto Museum, we had a very relaxed Sunday. It was the last day of Autumn break and Rowan's tap was canceled that day, so we had absolutely nothing on the calendar. Eric and I went on a long, perhaps 4-mile, walk through the Pyynikki neighborhood, where are there are some Art Deco style apartment buildings and other old wood-clad homes and buildings. We just went on the very edge of the actual Pyynikki nature area, but all of the beautiful leaves are still on the trees and it was such a nice, long walk, on a Sunday afternoon.
Come Monday, everything was back to the routine. The kids' school has just clicked right back into its usual pace and Rowan has a Swedish test this week and we are still waiting to hear how he did on his very stress-inducing Spanish test before the break (oh, late-breaking news as I revise this: we did get the grade because I finally figured out that I can see the grades in Wilma. All of his Spanish studying with Eric paid off!). Cece told me yesterday that math at school is just for review, but math at home with Daddy is where she's really learning new material. She's also just about to finish up the essay I had her write on the Rocky Mountain states, a short story where the protagonist travels through all of the states that constitute the Rocky Mountain region. We didn't really talk about short story design, or at least she wasn't interested in hearing my teachings on the matter. Nevertheless, this story does capture several facts about each of the states, even though the story is more stream-of-consciousness than one that has any crises and resolutions.
So here are a few newsworthy items of recent days. Last night when Cece and I were coming back from gymnastics on the bus, we tried to hop on the tram to head down Hämeenkatu, the main drag. All of the trams routes were all messed up and we ended up at the mall, Ratina. Cece was very perplexed by why all of the "1" trains were in a place where they shouldn't have been and we saw a bunch of out-of-service trains just on the tracks as we walked home. Eric went on a walk at 11:30 p.m., as he typically does, and came back with pictures of two trams that had collided on this big curve here near where we live! Those who have visited us will certainly know what I'm talking about, as this is the intersection that we call "the most dangerous intersection in Tampere." For all of their passion for rule-following and only crossing at a crosswalk when the walking man is green, this curved three-way intersection has absolutely no crosswalks or lights and the trams and the buses and the cars just seem to be using their best judgment. Anyway, two tram cars collided on that curve. No one was injured, but when Eric was out there last night it was a huge operation trying to get one of the trams situated so that it could be pulled away. I will link to a news article here, and you can either have your Chrome browser translate it or just look at the pictures to see the situation.
The other newsworthy item is more of a news flash that we apparently did not get. Cece and I arrived to figure skating yesterday and her groupmates were in their competition dresses. I had not gotten any notification on the WhatsApp group, at least that I noticed, that said they needed to be in their competition dresses on Tuesday. Cece is not doing the first few competitions, and thinks she may start competing in January, because she doesn't really know her program very well, since she's just learning it and it's like three and a half times longer and much harder than her program from last year. in addition to wearing their competition dresses, all of the girls were running through their programs all by themselves on the ice. I happened to be there to watch yesterday, so I got to see Cece do hers. I thought she did really well! I was so impressed that she could remember all of that choreography, because when I watched the model video of the program, I thought we had a long way to go until she could actually replicate that! I guess I was wrong! She did slip onto her bottom on a sit-spin; many of the other little girls also fell on various footwork parts or jumps or spins.
Anyway, after everybody did their programs, they did have some practice time, and the head coach of the club, Satu, was working with Cece on one of her jumps, over and over. I thought it was nice that she was getting so much personal attention, but then when she came off the ice, she was absolutely sobbing and said she may not ever skate after this day!
Fast forward, she doesn't feel that way now after she's calmed down and reflected it a bit. But she said that she was so nervous and feels that she skated so badly and she's so frustrated with herself that she does not have a growth mindset! I told her that I took a video and she watched it and I think that calmed her down and while she thought it wasn't very good, I think she also thought it wasn't as bad as she had seen it through her own mind's eye. And she also was saying that she does want to do a competition sooner than January, but I think that ship has sailed, and we will have to wait for the next one that she is eligible for.
Then, later we went to gymnastics, which I think I've described as a lightly supervised open-gym style free-for-all. While she is in a group and they move from event to event with one coach, I wouldn't call what the "coach" does actual coaching. It's more like being present. She does have a new coach now, and the skill level of the girls in her large, roughly 15- to 20-girl, group is such a wide range. I would imagine it would be very hard to teach anything with a particular structure. In the US, she was headed towards a pre-team group this year and that was very structured towards learning routines that she would be competing. One of her goals was to be in a gymnastics competition this year. I'm not sure that's going to happen here unless we switch tracks or clubs.
Figuring out gymnastics here, even for somebody with my gymnastics background, has been very difficult.
Anyway, on the tumble track (and I was sitting right next to it, working on my computer the against the edge of the arena), the coach was telling the girls to do back handsprings or backflips. No, Cece can't do either of these yet, and she's not a huge risk-taker, but wouldn't you know it, she up and just tried to do a backflip on this trampoline tumble-track! She did get around to her hands and knees but it made my heart drop because that is a skill that she should definitely be taught with careful instruction and spotting. But on the trampoline, it's not too dangerous if she lands on her head (!!!). After class, because I didn't want to interfere like the hawk of an American mother that I am, I did talk to her about asking for a spot when she's doing something she's never done before. I did see another classmate of hers getting spotted on a back handspring, so I know it can be done. She went up to her coach after that and said, "do you think you could spot me on a backflip?" So after class they went back on the tumble track and her coach got her to figure out how she needs to do the preparatory bounces before a backflip and she helped her around, so now Cece at least has a bit of the knowledge of the feeling in the air of doing that trick.
This approach to recreational gymnastics is absolutely making me crazy ;)
Okay, that's all for today! I hope you all have a great week and I'm about to prep for my class and then go off and do some teaching!

🌌 Get Things Done Trek 🖖
Dates: Tuesday, September 3 - Monday, September 9
...is an event I came up with because I’m trying to navigate needing to a) get things done without b) overworking myself in the name of “productivity.” Solution? Invoke sense of community, and also Star Trek!
Big thanks to @romulan-commander for helping me hash out the early stages of this scheme <3
Get Things Done Trek is a week of creating daily goals and celebrating what we achieve, with three ways to achieve your goal of the day:
1) Get the thing done,
2) Choose to rest and relax instead, or
3) If something else comes up that gets in the way, prioritize responsibly by taking care of that thing.
“So is there a failure mode here, or…?” You know that thing where you’re procrastinating but not in a productive or fun or restful way? That; we are trying to avoid that.
Rather than encouraging “productivity” at the expense of wellness, this event is intended to be a way for us to encourage ourselves and each other to make thoughtful choices and get the things we most want/need to get done done, whether that means work or rest.
WHAT KIND OF THINGS?
Up to you! Plan as few or as many tasks as you like, a repeating task or a different one each day, a task to complete or a task to do for 30 minutes, etc.
Housework, schoolwork, fanworks, work work, brushing your teeth, completing one/two/five items on your to-do list, texting a friend, taking specific steps toward arriving somewhere/getting to bed on time...the sky space is the limit ;)
Pro tip from your local ADHDer who learned this the hard way: If you have a challenge like being on time that’s complicated and/or especially subject to forces outside your control, instead of a “succeed vs. fail,” result-focused goal like “be on time to class,” consider a “do vs. not do,” process-focused goal like “make breakfast the night before” or “get up 5 minutes earlier!”
THE BASICS
- Figure out what things you want to get done (or not, if you’d rather come up with your goals day by day). Make a post with your plan, if you like, and tag @getthingsdonetrek. Can be detailed, nothing but “I have a goal for each day this week!”, or anything in between.
- Make a daily post about your progress (detailed or not), and tag @getthingsdonetrek. Don’t worry about missing a day, and don’t feel you need to do this part at all if you don’t want to.
- Interact with/leave encouragement on other people’s posts, if you like!
- Enjoy the daily encouragement fanworks (see below).
- Make a post about your progress at the end of the week, if you like.
- Enjoy end-of-week celebration fanworks (see below)!
EXTRAS & OPTIONAL
- Answer the optional midweek reflection questions.
- Complete the optional midweek surprise challenge!
- Download the Get Things Done Trek star chart (to be posted) and move your tiny starship forward each time you get something done/rest and relax/prioritize something new that comes up. Post screencaps of your star chart at will.
- Community achievement art! Send the blog an ask (anon is fine for this!) with a tally of times you 1) get something done, 2) choose to rest or 3) prioritize what comes up, and at the end of the week, I will post a color-coded artwork based on how many times we’ve all done options 1, 2, and 3.
FANWORKS
- One or more congratulatory/encouragement fanworks (e.g. a sketch of a character captioned “___ is proud of you!”) will be posted/reblogged on the blog per day. If you want to contribute one, post it and tag @getthingsdonetrek.
You don’t need to contribute any fanworks to participate in the event! I’ll be making seven very simple ones so that we’ll have at least one per day, and anything else is extra.
To prevent event fanworks from derailing getting other things done, this event officially ~encourages~ giving yourself an under-an-hour or less time limit for any congratulatory/encouragement fanworks you make.
(Like, I know myself, and I know I could easily negate the purpose of the event for myself by getting sidetracked on fanworks, so mine will be ten minutes/each, y’all).
- For a thematic celebration at the end of the week, post optional fanworks (short or long!) about Trek characters achieving things and/or doing self care, to celebrate how we TOOK CARE OF OURSELVES and ACHIEVED THINGS!
✨🌌🖖
Tagging a blog (especially a new blog) can be dicey, so once the event starts, if you’ve tagged @getthingsdonetrek in a post and I haven’t reblogged it in a few hours, feel free to message it to the blog as well!
Boosts appreciated, and please ping me here or at the blog with any questions!

Howdy, midweek minor update time!
I start a new job next week, so I’ve been scurrying around getting my life back in order now that I’m done moving back in with my folks. And as my dad pointed out (hi dad), despite how much self-care content I put in MVSans I sometimes do a pretty lousy job of self-care for myself.
But I mean, that’s kinda why I’m building that content in the first place. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
This week I worked on writing MVSans phone story events, and that means I can’t really give any details due to spoilers. But!! I made leaps and bounds on a particular segment I’ve been struggling for months to get right so I’m pleased about that! The dev plan has been updated to reflect this progress.

It’s taking a long time because there’s just so much to write, and the next 6 events need to be released together. Keep in mind, there are currently 6 phone call story events released (The Papyrus Calls and Undyne’s intro) so when the patch finally drops it’ll double the amount of story cutscene! And man is it juicy.
Anyway,
Have more shots of the minecraft project I’ve been working on to relax. If any Patreon or Ko-Fi supporters want to check it out, DM me for the server IP and I’ll let you know when it’s online!
