Marcus hesitated. The brain electrodes identified the regions of the brain that hindered him from complying with the request immediately and the machine fired the dissolving impulse pattern into his brain. Marcus felt another shift of his perspective and answered “Uh, he mentioned that you are dangerous as you may be in the process of developing a technology to break people’s minds.”

That as another indicator that this client had to be Mr. T. He had not revealed to anyone where he was and what he was working on, except to Mr. T who was funding his work. He would have to find a reason to lure him to his island and then he would give him a demonstration of his machine. But for now, this was all he wanted to know from Marcus. It was time to proceed forward to shape Marcus into a sex slave. He decided to continue the chosen path - achieving absolute obedience by removing the concept of disobedience from Marcus’ mind.

The Doctor asked “Do you accept me as your master?”

“No, I do not have a Master!” Marcus responded. It took the machine only a brief moment to again identify the synapses causing this undesired response and to dissolve them.

“Do you accept me as your master?” the Doctor repeated his question.

“I, uh, accept Master” answered what was left of Marcus.

“What would you do if I asked you to slap your face?” the Doctor asked next and Marcus responded “Uh, I slap my face?” and was trying to do so, but couldn’t as he was restrained.

The Doctor was satisfied, but it was apparent that the treatment had had an impact on Marcus intellect. He knew that such a rough treatment dissolving large areas of synapses would impact Marcus’ intelligence, but in this case, this was a welcomed side effect. There was only one thing to do before Marcus could receive his reward - the sexual orientation setup. He got the VR headset from a stand next to the machine and put it over Marcus’ eyes. Next, he placed headphones over his ears and started the program.

wada sez: This is the first part of the “MonsterQuest” trilogy. Per a comment from the team on deviantART: “This is our version of how the three guys that will eventually become [the Decepticon] headmasters were created, they were already existing decepticons when we first saw them in "The Rebirth". They specifically cited a piece of fanart by James Cox, which depicted the trio as the Universal Monsters—see below for that—as being the main inspiration behind the storyline. To counter them, they introduce a G1 version of Crosswise, the monster hunter from Transformers: Cybertron (indeed, Prime’s line “that’s why I asked you to come from Cybertron” has a meta double-meaning to this effect). Crosswise’s character model (see below) was designed by Juan Pablo Osorio; the process was explained as follows: “He's mostly a Smokescreen repaint but with a new head, rocket lauchers and a leg transformation like the one Jazz had. [...] since the Crosswise toy has repainted into Smokescreen and Jazz, I thought if it'd have been the other way around the Smokescreen mold would have been used in G1, with a tough of Jazz transformation scheme just to add variety to the already overused Fairlady mold. By the way, his color scheme is based on the 10th Anniversary gold/black edition of the car”. Skullcruncher’s origin story is based on Frankenstein’s monster, with Scrapper reusing blueprints from when the Constructicons rebuilt Optimus Prime into an alligator in “City of Steel”. Warnings: Mentioned mind wipe, past conditioning.

A weapon that fired when wanted was a good weapon. That was why weapons from iron worked so well. They cut with a twist of wrist. Smashed with a little force. Fired when the trigger was pulled.

That was also why Whumpee was never going to be a good weapon. They failed to stay detached.

Whumpee wasn't a menace. They weren't defective. But they hesitated. Not on the field but training. Because missions were missions, against worse bad people. But trainings? They threw rokies into Whumpee's cage. For Whumpee to shred them into pieces. But Whumpee couldn't.

It brought only punishments. Endless talks about how they were resisting improvements. How they were being ungrateful. Arrogant. Whumpee was disposable. If they didn't show growth, maybe another weapon would. And they had no right to invade space when they didn't earn it.

So Whumpee took in the teachings. They avoided thinking by following patterns. They didn't let themselves to feel, to get attached enough to care. Because weapons didn't care. They didn't feel. But Whumpee did. Whumpee couldn't just follow orders. Whumpee couldn't just close their eyes and attack.

"We should reset this one," came a distant voice. Whumpee couldn't bring themselves to sit up. The private they spared had gotten them good. All because Whumpee wasn't a good weapon.

"Again? I think it earned itself a place at the recycling centre."

"Nah. Too expensive to make one from scratch. Just wipe it clean and I'll have them in training roll again," another voice answered. "It's not like we can wait for another two years for the production anyway. What about the soldier who injured it?"

"We'll test the new conditioning on them"
