I love Team Canada's relationship so much!

Pause said he only ever opens MineCraft whenever Etho and Beef ask him if he wants to play with them and he's always down to play. And seeing the three of them constantly laugh at each other is so wholesome.

I'm so glad they're doing CTM maps together again.

oh my goodness tango-with-a-sausage-cold being on one heart at around the end of the session has really got my brain gears going.

this server is a game of attrition. it doesn't matter that tango had been playing the long game so carefully for the first act, the damage WILL catch up one way or another. 10 hearts will get you up and running for a bit, but only on the condition of you being able to complete increasingly convoluted and expensive tasks (time or resource-wise, same thing really).

and it's very funny to see the evolution in value of the gapple, because at this point most of the heart-loss seems to be erratic or unpredictable chip-damage that you would barely have time to prepare for with a shield. and consuming an item takes time.

so you'd either stockpile to have a guaranteed continued absorption for – if not the whole episode (because that would be like a stack and a half? guessing 3 hour sessions?) – either whole social interaction or gruelling tasks like travelling in the dark or mining or tense moments.

but who's got that kind of time and resources really.

So, I keep seeing Bdubs' clock addiction get sourced back to 3rd Life, and while he certainly has made it a more exaggerated part of his character since then, that's not when it started.

I've been casually poking through some older content, mostly old ctms, and I was surprised to see this in the Kaizo Caverns series OOGE did in 2012 a whole decade ago. (Episode link).

I'm extremely, and I really cannot stress this enough, extremely new to hermitcraft and I'm sure this clip has been brought up before. But, I'm really curious, does anyone have a source for when the clock thing became a known fact about Bdubs? Google has just brought be back to 3rd life haha.

I actually have one other question for those who are familiar with the mindcrack era, I'm interested in knowing when "Bdubs" became his default nickname. I've noticed it was used in text posts about him from way back, but even then it looked like Boo (or B00) was the preferred shorthand, and I haven't seen anyone around then actually verbally call him Bdubs. Mostly just Bdoubleo or the occasional use of his first name.

Sorry for the wordy post, I'm just very curious about all the little things and I unfortunately do not have the time to watch a years worth of 10-12yo minecraft content haha.

anti unpopular opinion ask meme: mined craft

I mean where to even start. it is the greatest game of all time. it is the only game of all time. every criticism of minecraft or minecraft modding i have is couched in that they are probably the best game and best mod ecosystem of all time.

It's also just a pretty impressive infrastructure thing like.... A naive estimate of a chunk's data is >30kb (16*16*128*1byte/block) and w/ elytra you can easily be loading >32 chunks/second. which puts you in the range for streaming video. (Obviously clever optimization and standard DEFLATE reduce that by a lot but it's very clever). So the fact that minecraft performs pretty well on crappy connections and old machines is a real achievement.

i don't even know where to start with some of it! there's a whole generation of people who know what a d-latch is because minecraft redstone has made digital logic more popular than ever.

it's also like... Because it's a game i grew up with it's impossible to overstate how impactful it is when there's a good minecraft update. Caves and cliffs generation or the ocean update or the nether update hits on just such a base level when ravines still feel kinda new to you.

i also gotta find my ctm post but like. i sincerely believe if you want to find the ideas that will be used in people's game-of-the-year in a decade, you should watch what people are doing right now with minecraft CTMs and adventure maps and modpacks.
