Like my shining counterpart would have done. But here I see you, 'Your Majesty," hale and healthy and without a single thought behind those blue eyes of yours and the blood in my veins begins pumping like it does before battle and I can't stop myself from thinking...

...I fought for Him. I fought every hour of every day for Him. The rivers of the Mirror World ran red with my affection for Him but in the end, all I did was leave him vulnerable during my many absences...

Your knight thinks YOUR people are lazy? To me, it's my counterpart who doesn't do enough! If he did, he'd know to be here right now, protecting you from ME. You'll be my reflection again, Meta Knight...once I'm finished evening the sides...!

Good thing his minions aren’t the brightest bulbs in the bunch - otherwise they’d’ve found out about all the friendly hugs he’s been getting in his off-time.

(… this isn’t too much, is it? Stars, I hope not. I tried to keep it vague enough that it doesn’t have to mean anything spicy. Maybe it was just a very competitive game of tag. Or maybe DMK couldn’t quite reach an itch between his wings and Daroach got a bit overenthusiastic trying to help. Basically anything that could ruin his “big scary cool toughguy” reputation. As long as DMK is too embarrassed to admit to it in front of his crew, they’re all viable options, haha.)

just in advance I’ll apply my Transfem Meta Knight headcanon to this, so I’ll refer to her by she/her pronouns

Okay, get ready for a ramble

Easily one of the most interesting and consistent parts of Kirby lore. When Meta was introduced and given a piece of the star rod, that implies she and King Dedede already knew each other and were on some friendly level. Then Meta tried to take over Dreamland, so it’s possible Meta was faking a friendship to get closer to DDD and then try to take the throne. But of course that fails, and then Meta taps out for the entire Dark Matter trilogy, so it’s unknown what happened during that time. Meta next shows up in The Amazon Mirror, working to protect Dreamland from evil, already showing a change in heart and moved to behaving more like an actual knight and protecting the kingdom. And from there, DDD and Meta are seen more on the same side, doing their best to rule and protect the kingdom in their respective ways, as well as being goofy idiots. Then it all seems to come to a head in Kirby Fighters 2, where the officially fight together on the same side(and against Kirby)

Anyway, they have a great king x knight dynamic, with lots of flaws, room for plenty of sappy idiot moments, and I love my powerful trans woman x powerful bird himbo ships. You can tell they are about each other more then a normal king and knight relationship, more then just the average friendship you see in the series, and I will die for them👍

9.5/10 - they just need to can only kiss or show obvious signs of romantic affection and I will raise it to a 10/q0

Also also, I headcannon that shadow dedede is king-d mind and that he has a special connection with dmk so that's partially the reason why one of kdm's eyes change apon seeing dark meta knight.
