I once read somewhere. Work so hard everyone’s biggest brag is that they used to know you. That’s what these shows felt like. @stephtolev opened for @wilfredburr at @scotiabankarena then came and played 3 sold out shows @comedybarto This gesture alone is a testament to the duality that is ever present in her comedy. On stage she is ruthless,wild, unafraid to be uncomfortable and angry largely about the inconveniences of life and woman hood. Off stage she is a humble, driven person who never passes up a chance to work and loves her dog and sister with her whole heart. It was wild to see a comic actually on top of their game. Stadium level on top of their game. There is a Burr infused American brashness to this phase of Steph. She has traded in her Canadian Tuxedo for a leather dress. Yet there remains an endearing indelible quality. My first inclination Steph was going to be a very successful comic was when w I would talk to other non comedy girls in the wild. They always remembered her jokes even if they they couldn’t remember her name. I think that’s because Steph is a friend to people in her comedy. A humor that comes out of being exactly who you are no matter who is watching. #justforlewks - Day 5 The final day of everyone is running on fumes. I was very proud of how I had paced myself,planned in advance, kept hydrated made healthy choices (with a few treats.) I do not give into the sadness I don’t go to the hotel the final night I give people their space. I think more then a goodbye people remember how you’ve made them feel. There is always friends from far away I wish l could watch do their thing all the time. Meeting @paulrabliauskas after writing about him several times was lovely “You were a reviewer who finally got it right what you wrote stuck with me. Cause that’s how I see my comedy.” @co_christmas is a very unique talent I have followed for about 2 years and I was so happy to get to know him better. I joked I would trade 3 Toronto comics to for him. During the day at the @sonofacritch panel I opted for my very rare map print wind breaker made popular by #kurtcobain from @kingpin_chic and my trusty black jumpsuit from @fashionnova Then for the 40th anniversary gala I opted for a #LBD with custom Victor ( the retired mascot of JFL) Purse and earrings made my beloved @skriptzz Walking down St Catherine street wearing this outfit. My little Victor purse caught the eyes of people and they yelled and wanted to take photos. In a festival that was previously teeming with Victor people were happy to see three no matter how small. It was not lost on me looking around the press section of the gala how fortunate I had been so spend so much time doing my thing at @placedesarts over that week @jimmycarr plus 3 galas the 40th being the most star studded. #justforlewks Day3 Isabella Blow is always who I am trying to emulate. She was British fashion editor and a disruptor. She spotted talent and was a head of the wave of what was in style. She knew Alexander McQueen was a force and famously bought his graduation collection. It was very validating to see comics I’ve known and supported for years have real breakouts at this festival. My guys on Rad dads @re_reeset @walterlyng @bigp4h @co_christmas @allie_pearse @hishamkelati And @sophbuds who was a undeniable breakout star of the festival. I will admit this outfit is alot I will also admit if I had contrasting shoes I’d wear thoes too. Walking down the street from the nasty show I saw notorious roast comic Jimmy Carr coming towards me I braced myself for impact.
