CREDIBLE OR NOT?
When I googled "winter 2023-2024 predictions", I found a Google image from an Instagram post that stated "2023-2024 Weather Forecast: Winter Wonderland!"
Tumblr media
I clicked on the post to get more details and it took me to the official page of the Old Farmer's Almanac. I scrolled down just a little to find a video posted by meteorologist Cyrena Arnold. She was explaining whether or not Hurricanes can cause earthquakes. She cited research by the Georgia Institute of Technology, information from the USGS, and previous weather occurrences. However, I wanted to see if we could trust her conclusion that we can't say Hurricanes cause earthquakes but we can't say that they don't either.
I proceeded to click on her Instagram handle that was linked and I saw in her Bio that she is a Meteorologist, Mother, STEM Advocate, Author of "The Weather Story", StormFrontFreaks podcast host, and Former TV Meteorologist, & Mt Washington Obs Director.
Tumblr media
This all sounded pretty legit to me and so did her content but to do some of my own research outside of her own page, I googled "meteorologist Cyrena Arnold" and the first link that appeared was her personal website.
The website itself was very professional and one of the first things I noticed was her appearances on Good Morning America, Insider, and USA Today. I continued by clicking her career tab which gave me more insight into everything she accomplished. She has been employed as a meteorologist for AirDat LLC, McVehil-Monnett Associates, and NH1 News. She also sat as the vice president for Athenium Analytics and currently sits as the Chief Marketing Officer for reThought Insurance and more!
Although I felt confident that the information I gathered was enough to prove her credibility, I went to YouTube and searched a second time for "meteorologist Cyrena Arnold". I found clips uploaded to a channel which I assume is hers, of her on the NH1 News as a meteorologist.
In conclusion, I think we can trust her weather judgments including this one where she explains if there is any relation between Hurricanes and earthquakes. Her extensive career, awards, and appearances solidify her credibility.

Monnett Memorial M. E. Chapel
999 State Route 98, southwest
Bucyrus, Ohio
Monnett Memorial M. E. Chapel (or Monnett Chapel) is a historic church at 999 OH 98 in Bucyrus Township, Crawford County, near Bucyrus, Ohio. It was built in 1901-1904. The congregation traces its history back to 1828, when Issac Monnett held services in his own home. The original chapel was built in 1849 by Jeremiah Monnett, a relative of Mary Monnett Bain. It had between 12 and 17 members during the 1890s. That number dropped to 6 in the year prior to the completion of the new chapel.
Construction on the new building was begun in 1902. Its main floor seating capacity was 300, and featured an organ-loft. It was built of blue limestone and the pulpit was oak. The new, heated chapel was dedicated on August 28, 1904 and featured a "Sunday School Room."  The cost for structure was $8,500, much of the cost was funded by a gift from the late Placidia Shaw, a granddaughter of Jeremiah Monnett. By 1908, its membership had grown to 53. The Monnett Chapel was added to the National Register of Historic Places on December 29, 1986.

Monnette Sudler – In My Own Way (Steeplechase)
Tumblr media
youtube
A vital participant in Philadelphia’s creative music communities for over fifty-years, guitarist/vocalist Monnette Sudler was also a pioneer in melding jazz, pop, and folk influences into a warmly personal alloy of improvisation-inclusive expression. Despite a lengthy career, her efforts didn’t yield more than modest discography, with a handful of credits as a leader joining contributions to projects by vibraphonist Khan Jamal and the Sounds of Liberation collective as the sum of her catalog. Sudler’s most prolific label association was with the Steeplechase imprint in the 1970s, resulting in two studio albums and a Danish concert date released over a two-year time span. In My Own Way is something of a long-lost companion to those dates. Recorded in a studio two days prior to the live album in June of 1978, it features the same band augmented by percussionist Mohamed Al-Jabry.
Sudler and producer Nils Winther strangely decided to shelve the session, and both forgot about it for the better part of forty years. Pandemic downtime precipitated renewed interest and Winther decided to add an unreleased performance from the contemporaneous concert to take advantage of CD capacity. The result is both companion piece and time machine, visiting Sudler in her youthful prime with colleagues who are dialed in to her designs. Pianist Oliver Collins, electric bassist Kenny Kellem and drummer Newman Taylor Baker evince collective commitment from the jump. Sudler’s cleanly amplified picking bobs and weaves with the Collins’ bright chording on the opening “Thoughts,” the first of five compositions by the leader. There’s a flanging bite to her ringing octaves and serrated runs that contrasts exhilaratingly with Collins’ more conventional comping.
“Easy Living” introduces Al-Jabry’s percussion instruments and gives Kellem and Baker the chance to roam around a revolving Caribbean rhythm. Once again, Sudler’s strings balance sharpness and sweetness and while the piece errs to the slightly drawn out, it’s still a worthy entry in terms of the colors and textures explored. A pair of torch songs, the title piece and “Message to My Love” showcase Sudler’s pipes. The lyrics traffic in amorous affirmations and attentions with Sudler tempering her guitar tone to match sentiment-saturated moods. “Fire and Air,” a smoldering blues shuffle, and Miles Davis’ “All Blues,” the only standard of the session and a feature for Kellem’s percolating strings, are the other ensemble vehicles. “Libra Rising,” the closing concert cut, sprawls past twenty-one-minutes and it’s a welcome counterpart to the half-hour version long available on the band’s live album. Sudler’s still active on the Philly scene and this previously sequestered session should hopefully raise her profile.
