Cooks Beach and Surrounds
After departing the campground at Haehei we looked at the NZMCA App for any other campgrounds that might be close and were also part of the camp saver scheme. We found a couple including the one at Cooks Beach which according to the reviews was a great place to stay. Getting there meant driving past the turn off to Hot Water Beach. I was there back in 2017 with two of my sons but Sarah hadn’t…

pairing: sebastian vettel x reader
summary: Sebastian came into your life in 2015 and left in 2020 - but you fell in love with him and he just wanted a championship.

read on ao3 https://archiveofourown.org/works/60713827
Sebastian joined Ferrari in 2015. The team were ecstatic to have the four time world champion join their ranks, determined to bring Ferrari back to its former glory.
You were working on the strategy team, fairly new but established enough to be listened to on the rare occasion.
You met Seb in the pre-season at his factory introduction. He made his speech, charming the floor with his near perfect Italian. He popped into the strategy meeting room during his tour, a war room that had become home for you with its laptops and papers spread out. Sebastian was the perfect gentleman, shaking hands with everyone, though you thought he may have held on a bit longer with you.
The season started soon after, the entire garage working overtime. You were given the opportunity to accompany the team at races, rather than being stuck at Maranello. This is how you became Sebastian’s favourite strategist.
You’re not exactly sure when it happened. You made a good strategy call in Malaysia, a well timed pit stop in Hungary and by Singapore, the lion knew your coffee order from the Ferrari cafeteria, ensuring to always pass you some before a long meeting.
Falling for Sebastian was drawn out, comprised of lingering greeting hugs, good conversation at team dinners, long nights at the factory and searing glances across foreign nightclubs.
You didn’t realise it for a while, and you wouldn’t realise it until it was too late. The attention you received was perhaps just part of Seb’s charm, and he had the whole motorsport world wrapped around his infamous finger.
2016 brought on a winless year for Ferrari, both Kimi and Sebastian unable to make it to that crucial top step.
You found Seb at the back of the Ferrari motorhome after a particularly tough race, hiding between tyre stacks. You overheard his PR team scrambling to find him - you slipped out to the back unnoticed, knowing exactly where he was.
The tyre stacks were sort of a shared place for you and Sebastian, free from the prying eyes of the world. The only person who knew about it was Sebastian’s head mechanic, who accidentally stumbled upon you two sharing champagne after a podium last year.
I’ll be there soon. Sebastian recognised your footsteps before even looking up.
You sat down beside him, trying to find the words while he absentmindedly played with his water bottle.
I’m sorr-
I don’t want to hear it.
Sebastian had never snapped at you. You knew the strategy calls were bad today, resulting in an ill timed pitstop and Sebastian falling through the other. This Seb, this was completely foreign to you.
Seb stood and left, sparing no further glance at you. It was a punch to your gut. Did he blame you? Drivers were always temperamental, that you knew, but Sebastian had always been nothing but kind and mature with you.
Your body went into autopilot mode, packing up what you can before the team debrief.
Sebastian barely spared you a glance as everyone settled in for the debrief. Perhaps a sign that he calmed down during media duties, but you knew better than to play detective with another man’s emotions.
Strategy seemed to be the biggest issue to tackle with your boss taking the lead. You half listened, taking notes occasionally until he mentioned your name.
One of the plans you brought up in pre-race meetings was bold and daring. It was entertained, but ultimately shoved aside for what ended up happening during the race. However after witnessing what happened in the race, it would have gained the team some higher positions.
Ferrari is a team, one where we win and lose together. Every aspect is just as important as each other. Admitting mistakes and learning for them is how the team gets stronger.
The strategy admission had Sebastian sneaking glances at you for the rest of the meeting. You felt it, but you weren’t exactly ready to forgive yet.
You returned to your home in Maranello without so much as another word to Sebastian. You were, however, greeted by a bouquet of peonies on your dining table, along with a note from the man you were so desperately trying not to think about.
By 7PM the same day, you and Seb were sharing a blanket on the couch and watching a romcom, having devoured pizza and now working your way through a giant bag of chocolate wafers.
Unfortunately, Seb knew the way to your heart. As you tucked yourself into bed that night, you realised that you never shared a conversation with him about Sunday and an even scarier thought, you had forgiven him.
2017 saw you and Sebastian grow even closer. Movie nights at your apartment became the norm and Seb often took you to dinner on race weekends, despite your protests that the dinners were too fancy. He had to spoil his favourite strategist would always be his response.
Sebastian returned to the top step of Monaco that year, the Italian anthem blaring across the track along with a chorus of devoted Tifosi. He sneaked off after the celebrations, pulling you with him to the tyre stacks, champagne bottle on the other hand.
Seb passed you the bottle and you took a large sip, pushing down the thought that his lips were on it mere moments ago.
Are you coming to the afterparty?
Yes, but I don’t have anything to wear?
No party dress packed? Ye of little faith.
You rolled your eyes and shoved the bottle back into his hands. The endless banter and teasing simultaneously made you forget about your feelings for Seb but also made you fall harder for him.
Don’t worry, I’ll take care of it. He kissed your cheek and walked away.
Cheek kisses weren’t new for Seb, having evolved from greeting hugs long ago. But “take care of it”? Well, he better not be doing what you were thinking.
You returned to your hotel room to a large black box on your bed, an extravagant red bow tied around it with a handwritten note, definitely scrawled on by a tipsy Seb.
The box revealed a red dress, and on top of it, another small box. You opened it and out dangled a small necklace with a heart charm. Engraved on one side was the number 5. Sebastian.
Sebastian knocked on your door two hours later, dressed sharp and ready for the night ahead. He took you in, the dress he picked out was the perfect fit against your skin. There was however, one missing detail.
The necklace?
It’s a bit much, no?
Nonsense.
Sebastian walked into your room and spotted the necklace on the bed. He took it out of its pouch and motioned for you to stand in front of the mirror. He stood behind, putting the necklace on you. His fingers ghosted over your neck, raising the tiny hairs on your skin.
Team number 5.
Sebastian kissed the side of your head and his fingers trailed down your arm to grab your hand. You followed him out in a daze to the elevator.
The dim light of the elevator and Sebastian’s intoxicating cologne enveloping the cramped box. The elevator dinged, letting in more people. The sound woke you from whatever spell Sebastian cast. You counted down the floors until you had to leave the warmth of Sebastian’s side and his calloused hand around yours.
Ground floor. The air was clearer as you exited the bubble - reality. Because despite everything, Sebastian wasn’t yours. He is Ferrari’s. You are Ferrari’s. For now, sharing a home would be enough.
You never left Sebastian’s line of sight all night. Between partying with your girlfriends, sharing a drink with your boss and a few dances with Seb, the clarity in the haze of the club was Sebastian.
As the night began winding down, Sebastian approached you at a booth. He was holding a mystery drink and his pupils were blown wide. He began blabbering about something Kimi did, the Finn possibly to blame for Sebastian’s current state. You took one look at him and began arranging a cab back to the hotel.
You managed to drag a half asleep Sebastian back to his room. You sat him on the edge of the bed while you filled up a water bottle. You came back and found him spread eagle on the bed. At least he took his shoes off.
Goodnight Seb.
You were halfway out the room when you heard it.
I love you.
You froze. Looking back, you saw Seb snoring peacefully, hugging a pillow to his chest. No, he’s drunk and sleeping. It wasn’t for you. It could’ve been for his bed for all you cared for. It didn’t matter, despite your heart wishing it was for you.
2018 was another successful year for Ferrari. Sebastian came home with five wins that year, placing second in the drivers standings and Kimi in third. All in all, you were quite proud of the team’s efforts that year and you knew you could unlock more of that potential.
However, you could feel something bothering Sebastian. An itch that had been present all season. You had asked a few times, but Seb always insisted it was nothing. You knew Sebastian well enough by this point. You could read him, to an extent. But if he truly wanted to hide something, you would be helpless at getting it out.
Sebastian invited you to stay at his farm in Switzerland for a week during the winter break. You happily obliged, having not seen him since wrapping up in Abu dhabi. You could use the tranquillity of farm life for a bit.
Your days there were spent helping Sebastian with the animals. He taught you horse riding and you taught him baking. You let yourself get lost in that life, if just for a mere moment. Perhaps in some alternate universe, this was your home with him, that you weren’t only playing house for a week.
You and Sebastian were laying on the carpet in front of the fireplace, sharing a bowl of attempted smores. It was your last night there before you had to jet off back to Maranello to begin pre season work.
Seb got quiet, not exactly rare but it was different when something was on his mind.
Would you ever leave?
Leave where?
Ferrari.
No. Ferrari is home.
Sebastian hummed, adding nothing more but deciding to bite into another smore. A bit of chocolate dripped onto his chin. You chuckled and wiped it off with your thumb.
Besides, you don’t need to worry about that new French kid. You’re still my favourite, world champion.
Sebastian laughed, but you missed the melancholy in his eyes and the smile not quite reaching his eyes.
Being a Tifosi came with many highs and lows - any balding Italian man can tell you that. It was felt even more within the team, especially for Sebastian this year.
2019 saw the meteoric rise of Charles Leclerc, the predestined. He cemented his place as not only the future of Ferrari itself, but of the sport as well.
Charles was full of energy and light. You grew fond of the kid and it was nice to have his company amidst the turmoil surrounding the team that year.
You went into that year determined to get Sebastian his championship he so desperately craved. You were instead met by cheating rumours, bad calls, power shifting and well, an increasingly frustrated Sebastian.
Sebastian who has been chasing that championship feeling for years. Sebastian who bleeds Ferrari red. Sebastian who is determined to bring the team back to the top. Sebastian, who is not quite yours, but you devoted your red heart to.
Perhaps that’s how you ended up in this position.
Sebastian pulled you into his driver’s room after a race. The habit has raised a few eyebrows from passing crew, but none have said a word.
Nothing ever happened anyways.
Seb would sit you on his couch and you’d listen. Listen as he rambled in a heinous mix of German, Italian and English. Listen as he let out his emotions after a race and all the lows he went through that weekend.
You’d bring up some of these points to relevant crew members. It would be worked on and by the following race, it would be better. But it was never enough for Sebastian.
You understood, he was supposed to bring Ferrari back, follow in the footsteps of his mentor and hero. It was an immense pressure and responsibility that has been carried for years. Now, the Italians have put their faith in his teammate, throwing him aside like an old toy.
It was draining for you too, being subjected to this almost every weekend. It wasn’t your burden to bear, but this was Sebastian. He is still Rosso Corsa, and you weren’t one to deny a cry for help.
Singapore rolled around, one of Sebastian’s favourites. He crossed the line in first place that night. You haven’t been so happy in months.
Sebastian found you at your desk after media duties. You were still on the adrenaline high, but the tiredness began seeping back into your bones. You knew you weren’t sleeping well, the stress of the season getting to you and your eyes looked darker than ever. For Ferrari, the pain was always worth it.
Come out tonight.
Seb, I feel dead.
And the race winner is personally inviting you.
You could never resist him, which is how you have an extremely plastered Seb on your arm as you walk back to the hotel. Apparently being part of Team 5 also meant babysitting when he’s had one too many.
I LOVE FERRARI! I NEVER WANT TO LEAVE! FORZA FERRARI!
Sempre.
May 2020. F1 was still on the break. The only place you went was your home in Maranello and occasionally the factory. You hadn’t seen Sebastian in months and to be honest, you haven’t heard from him as much as you wanted to.
Then, the announcement. Sebastian Vettel to leave Ferrari by the end of the 2020 season.
It came as a shock to you. Seb’s contract was up for renewal, you knew that. But he never said anything about leaving, at least, not to your face. And to find out from Instagram, rather than from the man himself, that was a whole other issue.
You left several messages on Seb’s number over the next week, all remained unanswered. You knew he was a bit of a recluse sometimes, preferring quiet company over the glitz and glamour other drivers seemed to surround themselves with. Ignoring you however, that was unheard of.
You asked some of Seb’s mechanics, but none have heard from him. You even asked Charles, but all he received was a polite thank you message.
After a while, you gave up on contacting him. You knew better than to beg for a man’s attention, even Sebastian’s. It broke your heart to walk away, but you had to keep pushing and Ferrari needed to keep pushing.
Red Bull Ring, Austria. The first race back was a much quieter environment than what you’ve been used to. Despite wanting to stay in Maranello, mainly to stay safe but also to avoid a certain German, your boss wanted you at the races. Who were you to deny the call of the Prancing Horse.
You ignored him all weekend, refusing to make eye contact or be in his general presence at all. It was perhaps a bit petty, but you deserved to be after the last two months.
Charles placed P2, a great result from the team for the first race back. You chatted to him at your desk after the race. Charles was a young man that had raw talent, immense passion and was wise beyond his years. You were lucky to call him a friend.
Mid conversation, Charles glanced behind you. You knew exactly who was standing there, but he could wait his turn.
You finished up with Charles, giving him a hug before he left.
You stared at Seb standing awkwardly in the doorway. He shifted on his feet, for once not knowing what to say to you.
Please say something.
I have nothing to say to you. You’re the one who went radio silent for months.
I’m sorry.
You shook your head and looked away, not wanting him to see how much this affected you.
I didn’t know how to tell you.
Seb moved closer, stepping into your space. He reached out a shaky hand to yours. You gripped his, you couldn’t help it. A silent sob escaped your body.
Come with me.
You whipped around, searching his pleading eyes.
Come with me. To Aston Martin.
His other hand came up to the side of your head, cupping your cheeks and wiping away the tears on your cheek.
Come with me. I need you.
His hand brushed down the side of your neck, fingers finding the necklace he gifted all those years ago.
Team 5. That’s our home. Please.
Sebastian fiddled with the charm. He found the engraved 5 turned around, no longer facing outward like how you’ve always worn it.
You took Sebastian’s hand and pressed a tender kiss to it.
Ferrari is my home. I can’t come with you.
You dropped his hand and looked anywhere else but him. You couldn’t bear to see the tears welling in his eyes.
Please leave.
Sebastian walked out, hesitating at the door. He took a last look at you and left.
You let the cries come out. Every emotion you’ve kept the last few years came out in a tidal wave.
You felt an arm wrapping around your shoulders, recognising Charles’ hand. He helped you to the floor and let you lean against him.
I’m sorry.
You requested to be transferred to Maranello for the rest of the season, citing health concerns. The team was sad to see you go, many of them enjoying your company on long race weekends.
You only saw Sebastian in passing for the rest of the year, heard about him from mechanics, through strategy feedback and once from Charles. He knew not to press, but you didn’t miss the occasional flicker of sympathy from his eyes.
Sebastian came by the factory after the season ended, a formal goodbye to Ferrari. There was food and drinks passed around and some quick speeches made.
Sebastian was the last to come forward.
It has been my dream to race for the Scuderia since I was a boy. Here I stand now, as a Ferrari driver for six incredible seasons. It still feels like cloud nine everytime I get to walk into this beautiful place and be greeted by the passion from every single one of you. I thank you all for the hard work you’ve put in all these years.
Sebastian took a breath, as if hesitating on what to say next. You found yourself waiting, a small part of you hoping for him to say something, anything that would allow you to forgive him.
I want to say a special thank you to those who have been by my side. You know who you are. I know I haven’t always made it easy, and I am sorry for that. But I am eternally grateful for you.
Sebastian’s eyes found yours in the crowd. You found yourself fiddling with the necklace for comfort, forcing your eyes to hold back tears.
Thank you all. Forza Ferrari sempre.
The crowd erupted in cheers, applauding Seb as he made his way back into the crowd.
Your ears were ringing, vision blurry and the swell of the crowd was suddenly too much. Your feet relief on instinct, turning you around and leading you towards the exit.
A hand found your arm as you reached the lobby. Charles. The youngster took one look at you and said something about a car and to wait. Your body curled into a ball as you heaved.
This was it. Sebastian was leaving. Leaving Ferrari and the home you built in it, with him. And neither of you could muster the courage for a proper goodbye. What an irony, Ferrari who creates heroes and legends but two of their best and brightest are cowards with each other.
A sleek black Ferrari pulled up to the front. The rumble of the engine was enough to push yourself to stand and stumble your way to Charles who had opened the door for you.
You turned, taking a look at the building. Ferrari is always going to be home, but the people in it give it meaning. Sebastian left, and your sun set, but it will rise again soon.
You were at the door and hesitated for the briefest moment. That was enough for Sebastian to come running into the lobby.
You stood in the moonlight with windswept hair and teary eyes. From the distance, Sebastian could just make out the glimmer of the necklace he gave you all those years ago and the most important thought - you were still the most beautiful woman he ever got the chance to know.
He loved you. Loves you. It was real all along, not some drunken stupor that he convinced himself it was all those years ago, hiding because it would be easier than to let himself fall.
He understood. You were always by his side, and he was too late to notice it, much less be grateful for it. You can't forgive him now, and he’s caused too much harm. It would be selfish of him to keep you tethered.
He needs to let you go.
Sebastian nodded at you from his frozen place in the lobby. This is the end. You touched your hand to your heart, where your necklace fell. In another life.

Postcards from Snagglepuss
Time to get the motorhome back up and ready
WISCONSIN DELLS, WI: "Getting marooned at the Sand Bar"--something of a coy slogan for a tourist-town bar bound to attract as much locals as tourists, and bound to recall in Crazy Claws' mind the time he was driving the Original Wisconsin Ducks tour, and pulled off a corny number about "crossing the [sand] bar" entering Dell Creek off the Wisconsin River heading towards Lake Delton. "Which I meant as a coy little plug," CC was quick to add, "in the spirit of the Ducks' corny narration."
"Explaining, no doubt, its popularity," Huckleberry Hound was quick to add.
"Is it any wonder that the Ducks have this 'must-see' sort of charm even before the waterparks came along?" was how Crazy Claws replied as all three of us were having the Sand Bar's celebrated steakburgers for lunch.
"Oh, and just as reminder, CC," remarked I, "we were going to get our motorhome out of storage after all this time--"
"Diving with Peter Potamus and crew; I couldn't help but resist just how irresistable the diving experience can get with such a likable-looking hippo." (Brief pause) "And believe you me, the dive videos he shared with me couldn't help but be IRRESISTABLY ADDICTING ... especially wearing just yourself in a coral reef off the Virgin Islands and trying not to look embarrassed!"
At any rate, it came down to the business at hand: Getting the motorhome out of storage, getting rid of any storage-related smells (such as mothballs) and getting such in readiness for the summer ahead. "Starting, I'll have you know," Huck remarked, "Easter Sunday as guests of the Cattanooga Cats in Gatlinburg."
"And let me guess," Crazy Claws asked, "the Easter Parade."
"Which the feline quartet who never purr or meow," remarked I, "will be laying on. Literally impromptu, mainly in some of the back alleys of downtown Gatlinburg and the Parkway towards the National Park Entrance ... and returning to Cattanooga Klatsche."
"Their coffeehouse," Crazy Claws chimed in. "I thought I knew as much."
It took a modest little drive through wet and borderline slushy streets of Wisconsin Dells to find the storage shed where our motorhome was in storage since fall, as turned out to be on the south side in a somewhat ratty-looking metal pole building some yokel hath for the sake of vehicular and camper storage over the winter, and it took about ten minutes to get the manager of the storage building over to assist in unlocking and reclaiming the motorhome. After having to endure quite the garage-in-winter smell and getting some paperwork out of the way, the motorhome--that which we now share these adventures moving forward since last spring--was ours again.
But not without the inevitable smell of mothballs, bound to require some airing out just to make it sane enough to drive in. After an hour and a half or so of having to open the doors of the motorhome in a municipal parking lot just to air things out, as well as get some initial provisions for a couple days' on the road--not to mention air freshener simulating a "new car" smell, and the obvious refuelling with diesel fuel accompanied by the legendary Kwik Trip chicken tenders--
"Why not stay a couple days with me?" was how Crazy Claws parsed it. "Then, we could be on our way ... but not before I find some comfort with a lady bobcat like myself."
"I take it that it's mating season with your kind," Huckleberry Hound remarked.
"How did you come to that conclusion?" Crazy Claws added.

Switzerland, Italy and beyond....
30th August 2023
Tumblr media
We're off on our next big adventure having travelled through Belgium, Luxembourg, France and into Switzerland as part of a 66-day tour of Northern Italy and back through the French Riviera. Our trip will take us to three of the Italian Lakes and some of the major cities including Milan, Venice and Florence before heading to Cannes and St Tropez.
We left the UK six days ago after spending the night before our Channel crossing in a favourite little pub campsite in Folkestone - the perfect place to relax over a glass of wine.
Tumblr media
The following day having crossed into France and driven down to a rustic campsite off the beaten track deep in the countryside in Belgium, we found ourselves parked up next to a Dutchman and his dog who were our neighbours in the pub all those hours earlier. In fact, we had actually followed his motorhome out of the pub car park to The Shuttle terminal. What are the chances? Thoughts crossed our minds that we might have a stalker!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We are now staying at a campsite on the River Aare, a stunning turquoise river which takes its colour from the rocks below and winds through beautiful Bern in Switzerland. Bern has the bear as its namesake and emblem and bear statues feature big here. We visited the family of brown bears that live in the bear pit and gardens in the centre of the city. We were lucky to see all three of them.
Tumblr media
At midday, we headed for the famous Zytglogge - clock tower - to watch the mechanical circus figures including a jester, parade of bears and golden rooster perform to mark the hour. But the clock was broken - well of course it was! If you have been following this blog you will know that this is a recurring theme on our trips.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Visits to the Cathedral, Parliament building, the Town Hall, Rose Garden for fabulous views across the city and a long walk by the river to the Botanical Gardens ensured that we saw more or less everything Bern had to offer. From one of the bridges in the city it is possible to see the Alps and the famous Matterhorn.
Tumblr media
We completed our two day visit with a trip to the Einstein Museum where Alex managed to have a conversation with Einstein's Avatar! Not sure what the famous physicist would have made of that.
Tumblr media
Our small taste of Switzerland has been brilliant but very expensive - there's only so many times the budget will stretch to a couple of coffees and the feeling that you've just been sold shares in the cafe!
Tomorrow we leave Bern and cross into Italy where we will be staying close to Lake Maggiore.

By motorcycle through New Zealand?
There are great hiking trails both around Arthur's Pass National Park and around the village of Moana on Lake Brunner. The TranzAlpine runs daily between Christchurch and Greymouth. It leaves Christchurch at 8.15am and arrives in Greymouth at 12.45pm. An hour later it goes back. Therefore, you can plan the trip as a day trip.
How many inhabitants does New Zealand have?
4.794 million (2017)
And the "must do's" are overcrowded. We also often asked ourselves whether this is really soooo great and worth seeing, as advertised. No, but they live it better than we do in Europe. I must clearly say so. However, if this was not issued in English, you also need a certified translation of the driver's license. You can obtain a certified translation either in New Zealand from the New Zealand National Transport Agency, at an embassy or consulate, or at the office where your driver's license was issued.
On the train: open observation car
Bluebridge uses the two modern ferries "Straitsman" and "Strait Feronia" on this route, while Interislander operates a fleet consisting of "Aratere", "Kaiarahi" and "Kaitaki". All ferries are state of the art and guarantee a relaxed and comfortable experience on board for the duration of the journey.
On a road trip with a camper, it is important to you that you can just stop and spend the night wherever you want?
Christchurch is still an exciting place after the earthquake that destroyed the city center City - there is a lot to discover and surprisingly a lot of street art.
The kiwis, as the locals call themselves, have their own special characteristics.
Hach.
I have to say that clearly.
Tumblr media
What is the population of Wellington?
Dangerous animals in New Zealand There are fewer or no dangerous animal species in the country or apart from the rare Katipo spider , In New Zealand there are over 1100 species of spiders out of the approximately 40,000 species known to date worldwide. Few are weakly toxic.
Queenstown is on the Southern Scenic Route. A particularly well-known tourist attraction is Milford Sound. The 14 km long body of water belongs to the Fiordland National Park and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You can even spot dolphins during a boat trip. • Almost all motorhome rental companies allow one-way rentals, so that you can start in Auckland and fly back in Christchurch. The surcharge outweighs the double ferry trip between North and South Island. • Once you get used to driving the slightly larger vehicle, there is nothing standing in the way of the New Zealand tour on your own. You don't want to miss any blog posts and take a look behind the scenes? Then sign up for the newsletter.
New Zealand: Vacationers will soon need an entry permit
However, numerous construction sites can cause delays in summer. In the hinterland there are also some unpaved roads, for which you usually need a four-wheel drive vehicle. It is usually not allowed to drive the rental car on unpaved roads. The best thing to do is to ask the car rental company in advance which Campervan camping park roads you are not allowed to drive on and mark them on the map. Even if you won't cover the same long distances in New Zealand as in some other Work & Travel countries, you shouldn't underestimate the travel times.

reading food for new zealand lovers
is Germany's largest running blog for women. Under the motto "Discover the world while running", it is all about running, travel, triathlon and all the topics that move us women. Is the ticket usually valid for a longer period of time, so that you can use it to explore New Zealand for several months. In New Zealand there are only three-pole flat connectors. You will need an adapter, which you can get locally in electrical and suitcase shops. Read more about campervan hire New Zealand here. Tourists with a tent or motorhome can also find more important information about and.
Tumblr media
In the Vulcanic Valley the crust is 3-4 km thick. This is thin enough to make the landscape above ground sustainable - Volcanic, that is. Just 200 km south of Auckland, there is a completely sleepy nest, Waitomo. The attraction is a cave system, the Waitomo Caves. For the time of restoration or new cathedral construction, a new spiritual centre was built near the old cathedral - partly out of cardboard.
What can you experience on a group tour for young people?
The "Tane Mahuta" juts out of the jungle at 51.20 metres. The green lung of New Zealand is now a protected nature reserve and another interesting destination for tourists. In the far north of New Zealand is the Aupouri Peninsula. Here there are also shorter hiking trails, in case the whole crossing is too much for you. If you prefer bikes, you can take an optional mountain bike tour or even go skiing in winter.
I find the New Zealand café culture very beautiful. You would think that espresso, cappuccino & co. were invented in New Zealand. Nobody drinks filter coffee here and even in the smallest village there is at least one professional espresso machine. However, the names of the coffee drinks are a little different than we are used to. An Americano here is called Long Black and then there is the Flat White, which is similar to a cappuccino.

route and costs in three weeks new zealand
If you are looking for the ultimate thrill, you will find it in Queenstown. Not only adventurers love the area around Lake Wakatipu, the surrounding Remarkables are also a dream for hikers & winter sports enthusiasts. Those who prefer a little quieter should continue on to Glenorchy. One of our absolute favourite cities in New Zealand is definitely Wanaka. Although it is very touristy - picturesque at Lake Wanaka and surrounded by the mountains of the Mount Aspiring National Park - it is much quieter here than in bustling Queenstown. The well-known beach is effectively almost 90 km long, but of course still very impressive. On the east coast, we dare to jump into the refreshing water at one of the many sandy beaches in beautiful weather. New Zealand unites an immense number of different landscapes.
Landscaped well situated
New Zealanders love BBQ and barbecue anytime and anywhere. In many parks you will find public BBQ grills that you can use for a small fee. The rental companies need their cars at different branches depending on demand. Read more about campervan hire New Zealand here. The best thing to do is to ask on the spot - in a café, restaurant, hotel, etc. What you should know for your road trip, I list here in my New Zealand road trip tips. And the founders of the Austrian travel blog Sommertage. We booked our rental car through sunnycars and had good experiences. Your report is already some years ago, but during the research for our planned trip in October/November I stumbled across it.
Category: New Zealand Travel Reports
A further highlight was the private albatross and whale watching tour, which was a complete success with wonderful experiences. We spent six days in Wanaka and after the cyclone we could enjoy the very best autumn weather. The bright yellow shining poplars and trees in their autumn dress inspired us as well as the quiet mornings at the lake with perfect reflections of the mountains and the steel blue lakes. After we had enjoyed the western part of the Catlins, we stayed for three days in the eastern part of Kaka Point. Before you leave for New Zealand you should know how you want to get around there. On the one hand with a rental car and the free choice of sleeping places or on the other hand with a campervan or a motorhome. Although it is also possible to travel by public bus or even hitchhike, we recommend for New Zealand an own vehicle to be flexible. We have four months time and the flights were expensive.

Road Trip around Kent
Hi, I am Marie and my husband is Drew. We hope you like our blog based on our recent visit to Kent. Welcome to Jenkins Journeys, cycling, and adventuring through life.
I had received a number of recommendations to visit Kent and as I had never been before, we decided to do it as a road trip to get the most out of the visit. We decided to hire a Motor Home and was delighted to pick up a spotless 6 berth Ford Chausson MotorHome from Motor Home Hire UK. It was a comfortable and easy drive especially as this was my first time hiring a motorhome. The vehicle came with all the extra’s you need, such as electric hook up, gas cylinder and kitchenware.
Tumblr media
Day 1
We decided to head towards Epping Forest for our first night, as we are keen cyclists we thought it would be great to explore the area and find a campsite that was close to the Forest. Once in the area, we came across Debden House Campsite. It is a conference centre and had 6 large fields for the use of campers and large groups. It cost us £32 for the night which is more than what we would usually pay for a pitch, but as it was on the edge of the Forest we decided to stay for the one night. After a cozy sleep in the double bed above the driver's cabin, we set off for Whitstable, which we decided would be our next overnight stop.
Day 2
We traveled across the Dartford Crossing along to Rochester,( it is important to note that you must log on to the website and pay your crossing charge before midnight on the day you travel), this was for a quick comfort break and I am glad we did as this was our first sightseeing stop, as there was lots of history in the area and an impressive Castle sitting proudly in the centre of the town. I especially liked the wonky buildings.
Tumblr media
We arrived in Whitstable mid-afternoon and after a drive along the seafront out of town we came across Sea View Holiday Park. It has lots of static caravans, but we were pleasantly surprised to find that they had a touring site and offered pods right next to the entertainment area and washing facilities.
As we wanted to explore the immediate area we decided to stop for the next 3 nights. The touring site was literally a stone’s throw (or pebble throw) on to the pebbly beach, with a long promenade. Once we had set up the motorhome, filling up the water tank and getting our set up right we headed out on our bikes back up the prom to Whitstable. It was a fantastic ride along a wide concrete prom passing lots of beach huts and bars and restaurants. As the area is famous for its Oyster Farm it was no surprise to learn that many of the restaurants offer wonderful seafood menu’s. As it was Sunday late afternoon most of the shops on the high street were shut, but it had lots of small independent shops and had a quaint feel to it.
Tumblr media
Day 3
We were up early because we wanted to get out on our bikes and cycle along to Margate. As it turned out we traveled a lot further and made it to Ramsgate, this was partly due to the fantastic prom that made cycling along the coastline so much easier. The trail along the prom is called the Oyster trail and it leads on to the Viking trail, it is well signposted but given that your following on one path it is easy to navigate anyway.
After leaving our campsite the first area we came in to was Herne Bay, we stuck to the trail but it seemed like a beautiful area. Just after the bay, the trail heads away from the beach, however, we decided to push our bikes along the pebbly beach to do some beachcombing. Once around the Bay, we rejoined the trail and came to Reculver Castle Towers, an interesting stop for a quick refreshment break.
Tumblr media
We continued on to Margate and popped into the town for a quick look around and then continued on the trail along the way we passed some stunning coastline, namely Botany Bay, Viking Bay, and Broadstairs. Due to the time of year, there was a number of tourists but we were able to cycle along at an easy pace without having to dismount.
We reached Ramsgate and this was a pleasant surprise, it had a lovely old fashion seaside feel to the town and we visited a wonderful Fish and Chip Shop that was a well-deserved treat after the 25 plus miles ride. After sitting on the beach to enjoy our fish supper and ushering the seagulls, we took the cycle back. Lucky for us the wind was behind us and we arrived back at the campsite early evening, after a full day cycling and sightseeing.
Day 4
The next day we headed inland and took the Crab and Winkle trail on our bikes to Canterbury. The ride from our site was approx 8-9 miles along a disused railway line through gorgeous countryside and woodland. We visited Canterbury Cathedral which we believe is a must to visit when you're in town. It is steeped in history and was undergoing major renovation work, and has masses to see and learn. The town itself had lots of mini shop fronts and they also have punt trips along the Great Stour from West Gate. Here the wonky shops continued.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After speaking with a lady on the gates of the Cathedral that lives in Whitstable we decided to stop off for a seafood lunch in Whitstable, at Wheelers Restaurant. It was a quaint restaurant, with a large selection on the menu. We chose a fishcake starter and a seafood Mezze. We were instructed that the restaurant only takes cash payments and if you want a glass of wine with your meal there is an Offy across the road with a large selection of local beers and ales. So plenty to try while enjoying your meal.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On our way back to the campsite we picked up some fresh Oysters from the Whitstable Oyster Company, we paid £10 for 6 super fresh Oysters. We took them away and had them for our evening meal. It was great to hear about the history of the Oysters in the area and it was interesting to learn that this farm has over 10 million Oysters just off the shoreline.
Day 5
After packing up and moving on, we had decided to head towards Hastings and we came across a sign for Bodiam Castle as a member of the National Trust and after seeing it in our book we decided to do a slight detour and visit the Medieval castle ruins, its a wonderful sight to see, surrounded by a motto. It is one of the most impressive picturesque castles to go and see.
Tumblr media
Due to our impromptu visit, we decided to find a campsite in the Royal Tunbridge Wells area, this was partly due to the fact that there is a number of National Trust sites to visit in the area that we wanted to visit. We had a quick google and found what we thought was a campsite called Sunninglye Farm. On arrival down a small lane, we were met by a lovely lady called Jill, she explained that they are a working farm but also have 7 stunning camping lodges or safari tents as we would call them. Although they are not set up as a campsite, she was kind enough to offer us the opportunity to park up our motorhome on their bottom sheep field close by to the communal shower block. We excepted graciously because it seemed like such a lovely location and we were not disappointed. We had two fabulous nights here and will definitely return in the future to stay in their lodges, it's a wonderful site and has lots to offer for families or groups. On this afternoon we cycled just a few miles into Royal Tunbridge Wells, the town had a number of architecturally interesting buildings but you could also see that the town is having a huge amount of upgrading and investment.
We had the privilege of cooking some of Jill’s home-reared pork in their pizza oven and it was great to make new friends of the farm animals. The chickens are free-range and would often wander around by where you sit. Take a look at their fantastic lodges. I particularly liked that the lighting was by gas lamps and you use a log burner as a stove. They had 3 bedrooms, 2 double and one was bunk beds. I think 2 of the lodges had ensuite showers but all lodges had their own toilet. Each lodge had stunning views of the countryside.
Tumblr media
Day 6
This was a final day so we headed out on our bikes to visit Scotney Castle which was approx 8 miles from our site, this stretch was a little hilly for novice cyclists but the effort is well worth it when you reach this National Trust site with a detour to the small village of Lamberhurst. This is by far my favorite NT site, there is so much to see here. The house which was lived in by Betty Hussey, right up to recent times 2006. Its a beautiful time capsule of how she used to live, but then you have the stunning old castle and folly which you can view from the library window and explore. It’s important to add that the cafe and walled garden are worth a visit too. We did want to visit Chatwell House the home of Winston Churchill while we were in the area but we just ran out of time. So great reason to return to the area.
Tumblr media
Day 7
Today we were heading home but on route, we decided to visit Waddesdon Manor in Aylesbury, which is a French-style Chateau, previously owned by the Rothchild Family. The restaurant was superior for this type of national trust site, but we chose a traditional English Cream Tea, which was a welcome snack before we explored the impressive interior rooms of this impressive building. Again this was a wonderful property with lots of magnificent artworks and sculptures. You could spend a full day at this site but we were heading home, so we could clean the van in readiness to return it in the morning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is our first time in the Kent area and we were blown away by the number of things to see and do and we know we only scratched the surface. The motorhome experience was one we would also do again without hesitation. We have had a fantastic holiday and we crammed lots in and we would say if you're considering a holiday to somewhere new this is an area of the UK that is definitely worth your consideration. The people we have met have been friendly and extremely helpful and the changing landscapes from Coastlines to woodlands have been a joy.  Right I'm off to plan our next journey, wild camping the southwest coast path in Cornwall in a few weeks.

Blog 9 – January in Andalusia and Portugal
Tumblr media
We left Jerez on the Three Kings public holiday and travelled down to Bolonia – close to Tarifa. We chose Bolonia primarily because we had a week to kill, as we had to return to Jerez on the 12th to have some work done to Toa, Toa, Toa but also because several friends recommended that we visited the village. Boy, were we glad we did – what an amazing place. Stunning coastal scenery, at night the light from Tangiers makes the horizon glow, the most amazingly well-kept remains of a Roman town (Baelo Claudia) that you’ll find on the Iberian Peninsula and a fantastic museum.
In total we spent 4 nights parked up in Bolonia overlooking the beach, just chilling. This included completing a jigsaw that Nancy (Vickie’s grandmother had loaned us). It’s probably 40 odd years since we last did a jigsaw but it was fun, despite the fact that it was fiendishly difficult and took us about 8 hours to complete. On one of the days that we were parked up at Bolonia, a young kite surfing couple, who happened to have a beautiful brown and white border collie (Lunar), parked alongside us – so we reached an agreement they could kite surf all day without worrying about Lunar and we’d have Lunar for the day. We loved walking Lunar on the beach – it bought back so many memories of our beautiful Toa.
After leaving Bolonia, we drove to El Puerto de Santa Maria, where we spent 24 hours doing domestic chores and buying the obligatory flagon of fino from the local bodega before we returned to Jerez, spending the night wild camping close to the motorhome repair shop.
On arrival at the repair shop the next day, we were advised that they wouldn’t undertake the work – which was bloody annoying. We had decided after Jerez that we would drive just beyond Sevilla, so had plumped for a village called Umbrete about 15 kms west of Sevilla.
We selected Umbrete randomly, and mainly because it had a free council run aire, which was beside an incredibly impressive sports village. Umbrete itself is a village/town with a population of just under 6,000 but it was where the Bishop of Sevilla chose to spend his summers, so contained a Bishops Palace and a most beautiful church in the main square. We spent two nights in Umbrete exploring the village/town, running, riding bikes and enjoying the warm sunshine during the day. However, during the night boy was it cold.
We left Umbrete on the Saturday morning, travelling the short distance to Sanlucar la Mayor where we intended to spend the night, After parking up and a whistle stop tour of the town (which was a little underwhelming) we decided to travel further west towards Ayamonte on the Spanish Portuguese border.
Driving out of Sanlucar we passed the world’s first solar power station, which was a sight to behold with sunlight being directed onto a tower by thousands of mirrors. We drove onto the Isla Canela, just outside of the town of Ayamonte, which overlooks Portugal.
We spent two nights on the Isla Canela running, walking and sitting on the beach watching the surf clam fishermen up to their waist in water collecting surf clams (that’s why they’re so expensive).
We then moved onto Portugal, crossing the road bridge which spans the Rio Guadiana and finding out that we moved time zone, because Portugal is on GMT. We couldn’t get on the Aire in Vila Real de San Antonio, so after a quick look around the town, we drove a few miles down the coast to Monto Gordo.
In Monto Gordo, we wild camped on what looked like the last development opportunity on the seafront. We enjoyed Monto Gordo spending two nights in the town, walking to the most south-easterly point in mainland Portugal (the end of the breakwater at the end of the Rio Guadiana.
We then moved further west towards Tavira but again the Aire in the town was full so we decided to try our luck on one of two campsites in the village of Moncarapacho. Camping Route 66 was great fun a shambling small holding where you could pitch up anywhere but needed to be aware of the livestock who also had the freedom to roam – we woke up the following morning to find a pig asleep beside Toa, Toa, Toa. We spent two nights at Moncarapacho.
Whilst there we walked around the lovely village of Fuseta and part of the Rio Formosa Park, seeing amongst all manner of bird life - storks, flamingo’s and a marsh harrier.
We then moved onto to Olhao – our favourite town on the Algarve. We spent 10 days in Olhao, mainly because my sister Sue and brother-in-law Paul had booked into the Real Marina Hotel in the town for a weeks’ holiday. The night before Sue & Paul’s arrival we joined about 60 or so other motorhomes parked up on a piece of land behind the hotel and we nabbed a spot in the front rank (that’s a prime spot) amongst a group of French motorhome owners. The next morning, we woke up to find that one of our front tyres was flat – so after putting on the spare and driving to a tyre garage we discovered that someone had kindly deflated our tyre for us. We thought that there were two potential culprits – either someone in the group of French motorhome owners who didn’t like the fact that we’d possibly hi-jacked the spot which may have been reserved for one of their number or the guy who came round on the Sunday evening trying to sell us what were clearly knocked off strawberries. We’ll never know.
During the 10 days we spent in Olhao we visited the Ilsa Culatra (twice), the Ilsa Tavira, Santa Catarina da Fonte do Bispo (to visit the site of Paul’s parents’ former family home and inspect the land that they still own). We also got to help Paul celebrate a landmark birthday. We had a lovely time with Sue & Paul, chatting, eating, drinking and playing cards – as Sue reminded me that was the most time we’d spent together since I was about 13, when Sue left home to get married. Sue and Paul kindly bought us a night in the Real Marina Hotel, as a wedding present which was lovely and we enjoyed our final night together with them before they returned to winter in the UK the following day.
After Sue and Paul left us, we returned to Moncarapacho to try out the other campsite (Camping Lagao). It was another fun and quirky campsite which we’ll definitely return to later in the year. Whilst we were camped in Camping Lagao we walked up to the top of Sao Miguel (the highest point on the eastern Algarve it’s just under 500m) but it gave stunning views back into Spain and right along the Algarve. A lovely walk.
The next day we returned to Spain.

Making The Most of the Day
After three wonderful nights in Pauanui including our last night at the well-located POP, it was time to move on. Our first thoughts were to drive to Tairua and look at some of the freedom camping spots with a view to staying there. One of the issues with a nine-metre motorhome is the lack of available spots for something our size. However the NZMCA App showed a spot located next to the dump…

Day 19 Tombstone AZ
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pictures don't capture the hugeness of the space we're in as we drive to Tombstone. It's a feeling of, hmmm... can't describe it in words either.
During the drive to Tombstone today we jokingly said "...guess we won't find a coffee place" (likely no towns much less one big enough for coffee place). But we found one listed on the web 10 miles out of the way. It looked so cute we decided to make the detour to Pearse - who'd have thought?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
All homemade scones and muffins (delicious!!), paninis, local beer, amazing coffee. The 1st pic is the shop and the 2nd is the view of the middle of nowhere across the road. Nearby there were a few rural house and further away some ranches. And people like us driving on AZ191 . But still? How could that be enough business? We're sure glad though, and we will go out of our way for it again!
Why are we driving to Tombstone? - astute readers of this blog remember that we went last year to see the historical sites (see 2022 Day 24 ). Why go again? A careful read of last year will net you the answer. Hint -
Tumblr media
We know that after all our talk about wanting to only park places where there are no humans in sight, parking in a huge area where RVs are allowed to park overnight seems out of character. And in fact making a choice to drive to Tombstone for the express purpose of sleeping in this RV area. We planned it initially because it would be cool to sleep just down the street from the historical buildings and activities of 150 years ago. Then we added that we should have paid the money last year to see the whole building (stage, gambling tables, brothel rooms) of the Birdcage Theater and Saloon. But a couple days ago in the land of no internet we knew this would be a way to watch the last Chiefs playoff game.
The Birdcage self-guided tour was a little disappointing - we thought we'd be seeing the space restored to how it looked then (a sea of gambling tables, the stage ready for use, brothel rooms) and there was of that. But in addition it was like a museum with old organs, desks, pianos, etc so it didn't feel like we were looking at the 1800s Birdcage. Everything we looked at was well described and very interesting. The coolest for Bill was seeing how the theater building had functioned (the catwalk where the "women of the night" could see who was making money - good customer - and they could show themselves off; the stage and it's position to the upstairs private booths and the gambling tables below). Carolyn's biggest surprise was reading about the women, seeing their licenses on the wall (prostitution was legal, you just had to have to pay $7.50 for a license) and seeing the brothel rooms. So - we did get a lot out of it even if it wasn't exactly what we expected.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After immersing ourselves in the culture of Wyatt Earp and the wild west, we left the dark, walked out into the sunshine and watched the Chiefs win in the last 20 seconds on a TV, using the intenet, in our motorhome (that wasn't a covered wagon with 2 horses).

Might this be seen as a little too much for rebuilding into The Cool Bus of The Banana Splits, essentially their hybrid tour bus and motorhome when the Banana Buggies may not quite cut it exactly?

Sinotruk Mobile Workshop Truck All Wheel Drive 4x4 For Sale Purchase Mobile Workshop Truck, howo Mobile Workshop Truck, sinotruk Mobile Workshop Truck Product On Alibaba Com
An Ifor Williams Retail Unit Trailer could be extremely versatile, from varying product strains to meeting your customer head to head. Operating a business from a trailer offers you the liberty to continually arrange shop in new lucrative places. Multi function trailer/ meals trailer/ mobile workshopmulti purpose trailer, is already roadworthy.
Another factor to assume about for batteries is the voltage. This relates extra to cabling as as a end result of as your voltage goes down your amperage goes as much as get the same energy. However its not that simple as higher voltages can bring larger prices and extra difficulty in sourcing components. For instance an inverter which runs off 12V is massively frequent as 12V is the traditional voltage for automobiles and motorhomes. Jump as much as 24V and it's mostly vehicles so there is fewer inverters. Jump up again to 48v and you might be into specialist inverters for offgrid energy supplies.
Those seem to be rotting everywhere simply outdoors my city. Milk/Bread truck with a fold up bunk and 19″ rack bolted to the top and bottom. I didn’t see a source of heat, maybe a woodstove should be added?
Instead we'll take different combos of vans and trailers on totally different journeys. For example, after we're touring with pals and internet hosting parties we'll bring our motorhomes and kitchen/dining trailers, showers, bunks, and so forth. Really all is dependent upon the place we're going, what we're doing, and who's coming with us.
Even when you don’t presently have area in your house or storage, it would be way cheaper to build a shed. I did something like this, although it was extra of a giant Chemistry set, and it was far more profitable. I suppose the mountain climber’s utility van featured a pair weeks ago must be linked to this article. Hehehe, ‘quite actually packed to the gills’… fairly literally, trailers don't have gills.
The Manufacturing numbers seem on this table, the place out there. Two two-axle tractors was offered, the Long Haul and, from 1981, a Leyland. Long Haul was most regularly seen, showing in no less than two colours, green and pink. The articulated trailer functioned as a flatbed trailer, able to hauling two first-generation transport containers. Different designs featured the articulated trailer fitted with a plastic field as a field trailer, or with plastic stakes for carrying pipes or timber.
We sell customized, bulk order & in-stock trailers; rent semi-trailers; present service on all forms of trailers; and supply trailer components. Many retailers will counsel you've your trucks and trailers towed to the workshop. Workshops are normally better tooled and prepared to deal with every mobile workshop trailers kind of repairs and diagnostics. At ARS Fleet Service, we've the most functionality out of a truck in the industry. As a commercial fleet proprietor, you have no time for downtime. So having a mobile fleet service partner who can convey their shop to you is sensible.
Please submit hyperlinks to how-to pages and movies, footage of beautiful and superb items you made for us to admire, or assist you to end. This entry was posted in Blog, Trailer Spotlight and tagged blog, Trailer Spotlight. It was a completely functional machine shop towed behind a 5 ton Deuce. Our trailers are all in pretty mobile workshop trailers good shape, but it was plenty of work simply to wash them out. In the V-nose of the trailer, they have a small workbench. This is a good place for small jobs or organizing job parts.
I designed it so the instruments would undergo the front instead of the highest, as a end result of these tools are lighter. I installed small hook and eyes to maintain them in place, FYI after you put in them if you bend within the hook slightly with a pair of pliers it's going to make the hook fit snugger. The complete level of this project was to optimize house so the trailer can mobile workshop trailers be multi-functional. By constructing your individual shelving you do that and make the way you need. If you have any questions about the project do not hesitate to ask. I modified this Catering trailer to use as a mobile workshop for the solar energy trade but can be used for any industrial application.

Pauanui Dharling!
First off, yes! I know I have spelt darling incorrectly but for those of us who lived in Auckland in the 80’s and 90’s Pauanui was, and to some extent still is the playground of the rich and famous. A familiar catch cry could be heard through the suburbs of Remuera and Herne Bay as the weekend drew closer “we are off to Pauanui Dharling” when asked what they were doing. Not being part of the rich…
