im thinking about TV show eddie and how he’s both different from his book counterpart but still similar. cause book eddie is the worst (says daisy would make a good aunt and not a mom). but show eddie is a lot more soft around the edges. but something that bothers me about this is that people are misreading him.

i’ll see people say they wish camilla left billy for eddie and how eddie would’ve worshiped her but that’s not true and even the show says it. like billy says eddie “always wants to be slighted” and you see that as the band deteriorates more and more. like yes, he is into camila (i don’t want to necessarily say love but he does care for her deeply) but i don’t think he’d worship her. like, eddie wanted to be a big rockstar and he WAS! like even warren says that they’re the biggest band in the world and are super rich. like eddie was so caught up with himself and his fued with billy he couldn’t like ENJOY life.

but even after the six breaks up you’d think he’d be happy. like he’s finally free of billy so he can go make the real rock music he wants. except he doesn’t achieve the same the success. and while that is disheartening he is still living as a rock star and making music he wants, yet he’s still miserable, something is always missing.

so back to camila, while i do think he would’ve treated her better than billy did during the aurora album, over all he’d still be upset over something. something wouldn’t be quite right.

like billy literally says he wants to be slighted, he wants something to complain about. so it’s easier for him to blame billy who was mr popular in high school and got the girl eddie had a crush on in childhood and then even after billy leaves the band eddie wants to take over his spot but can’t do they get billy back and then was later upset with the music they were making as it wasn’t rock enough, and then even after the fall out he’s still upset years later. like he always wanted something to blame i feel and i really like that the show added more depth to his hatred and issues with billy but i don’t think he’s now this perfect guy. like if anything he’s giving me nice guy ™️ vibes.

anyway, those are my late night thoughts. ✌️out i’m going to bed now

i need to tell yall about my band teacher. he is an absolute entity

he has this big soundboard on his computer that he uses during warmups or just to be Silly Goofy

theres this whole legend he made up about the band room about an irish wolfhound named fido

more on fido: he has a prosthetic tail and eats sixth graders. SPECIFICALLY sixth graders

the day after every big concert/general performance we have, he hosts a Youtube Party™️, where ppl can suggest videos to watch as long as theyre appropriate and short enough

that previous thing has spawned a bunch of jokes, such as “SCOTLAND FOREVAH” and the fact that the one SPECIFIC video the band teacher wont allow is the crayon song (quote “i do NOT like the crayon song…….”)

theres also a SEPARATE legend he made up about a SEPARATE ghost- this time of some dude just called The Maestro who likes to insult us over the phone

whenever its starting to get close to the end of the year, we all watch fantastic mr fox together

im gonna have to leave him pretty soon which is gonna be RLY hard, so just take this post as an appreciation post for him

Litourgiya by Batushka

This is fucking amazing. The chanting mixes will with the harsh vocals and the atmospheric choir gives it all breathing room even when the blast beats are going full force. Each track holds up on their own but ultimately should be listened to front to back. As someone that doesn't listen to much black metal, I was pleased that each track was varied enough that they all didn't blend together. Track 7: Istina stood out for is slower tempo and big riffs. 7/10

Mezzanine by Massive Attack

Happy (almost) Anniversary to this album. I put this on after Litourgiya so it was a nice change of pace and palette cleanser. Really dug this one, big chill out vibes 😎. Feels very appropriate for a dystopian cyberpunk game or space club. Kind of reminds me of Trent Reznor's compositions. Overall 8/10

Deliverance by Corrosion of Conformity

This is one of my favorite CoC albums! Corrosion is one of my top 10 bands ever and their whole discography has so much variety but this and Wiseblood are my favorites. An album that makes you feel like you need a cigarette/joint hanging out the side of your mouth(doesnt even need to be lit). Gotta love a song about Mr Clean. 9/10

Demanufacture by Fear Factory

Fucking love this album. One of my favorites from the year I was born. Essential listening for anyone getting into metal at some point in their journey. Burton C Bell's vocals are amazing and his ability to switch between clean and his bark was unrivaled for the longest time. Dino is a motherfucking RIFF BEAST™️. Replica is obviously the big song from this album but my favs are dog day sunrise and body hammer. Absolute CRUSHER 9.5/10

Boomer and Buttercup

Initially, Boomer and Buttercup's relationship was a one-sided one of envy and hatred, due to Boomer joining No Neck Joe. She felt he stole her place, her band - a large, important part of her life. On the other side, he was more or less entirely unconcerned with her.

As the story moves from the first few chapters, they develop an improved, yet still tenuous relationship. Buttercup kind of moves on with Butch, from her grief over her relationship and the loss of the band, significantly smoothing over her resentment. But after Bubbles' break-up with Will, Boomer cranks up the cheese factor and her second-hand embarassment and irritation start to climb again, and even moreso once they start dating. When he sang "Hot" to Bubbles, when she tried to feed him at lunch, basically any time they share moments of PDA in the group, it's like a mild form of torture. His fondness for Avril doesn't help either.

By the time the later chapters come around, Buttercup and he are pretty similar to actual siblings in their dynamics. Typically Buttercup fills the role as an older sibling. Boomer primarily has a neutral-positive attitude towards her, punctuated by bouts of fear for his physical safety. Buttercup is usually pretty tolerant and neutral about him, but occasionally wants to lightly eviscerate him. The conflict usually arises when he does something that annoys her (usually via sappy gestures/rambles), and either continues or commits an infraction so bad that she goes straight to whoopass mode.

One example includes when he starts to talk about what he and Bubbles do on dates, and thinking it would be TMI, Buttercup warns him to stop. He plows right on through, though, and she throws a set of kitchen knives at him in retaliation. Another, was the morning after the Boys all had their Dreams™️. After Boomer woke up from his dream in the middle of the night, he calls Bubbles, waking all the Girls and invoking Buttercup's wrath. The next morning, at first greeting, she sees him and he immediately knows to run. Somehow remniscent of that scene in Lilo and Stitch after the social worker leaves. Nani turns to glare at Lilo, there's a half-second pause, and Lilo shrieks and bolts out the room cuz she knows.

But they also have the occasional moment of casual kindness (not exactly the word, but it'll do). They're usually quite brief and mundane, but I think they speak to a sort of quiet, subtle fondness. Like in "Hey There Mr Blue", Buttercup and Butch had snow cones and Butch refused to let Boomer even ask to try his, after Buttercup shared hers with Bubbles. A second later, Buttercup spots the coil and casually tosses the rest of her snow cone to Boomer. It wasn't a big deal or a show of deep intimacy or anything, but it was a nice gesture that to me, seemed like a sort of big sister thing to do. She shared with Boomer just as she shared with Bubbles, when normally she's pretty stingy with her share of food.

One thing can be said about his understanding of how Buttercup's mind works tho. At the open mic, where they dragged Buttercup on stage, he knew exactly what to do and how to play to make her put effort into the performance. Perhaps from seeing Butch's over-competitive spirit all these years, or just an intuitive knowing which buttons to push, he plays her like... well, literally any instrument he's ever encountered. They're def not the closest but considering it's Boomer Bubbles-is-my-entire-life JoJo, they're pretty close. Other than his brothers and Bubbles, I think she's the closest person to him in terms of how familiar they act with each other. Hes pretty open with most of the people he hangs out with, but doesn't have the same kind of relationship with them. Aside from the fact that he's superhuman, I doubt any of his other friends have both wanted to share their snack with him and actually beat the shit out of him. Idk about anyone else, but I gotta feel pretty comfortable with someone to do that. I also gotta feel pretty comfortable to both enjoy someone's company and fear their retribution to my antics.
