Raptors guard Gary Trent Jr. nearing multi-year “lucrative” contract extension
The Toronto Raptors are reportedly working on a multi-year contract extension with shooting guard Gary Trent Jr.
Tumblr media
After finding his place in Canada, Gary Trent Jr. informed the Raptors that he will exercise his $18.5 million player option for the 2023–2024 season. And it looks like the adventure that awaits him with the Raptors could continue for a while.
Per Bleacher Report’s Chris Haynes, the Raptors and Gary Trent Jr. are working on a “lucrative” multi-year extension that could keep the 24-year-old shooting guard in Toronto for more than just a couple years.
Trent Jr. had an up-and-down season with the Raptors this year, bouncing between the starting lineup and the bench. He started in 44 of the 66 games he played this season, primarily in the first half of the season before the Raptors acquired Jakob Poeltl at the trade deadline. Trent averaged 17.4 PTS on 43.3% shooting with a 36.9 three-point stroke, and an impressive 1.6 steals per game.
Vanvleet’s departure will likely see a bigger role for Trent. He’ll be asked to take on more catch-and-shoot responsibilities as well as working off-the-ball in Toronto’s offense. Despite losing Vanvleet, the Raptors still believe they can compete with the top teams in the East, and were not willing to get rid of the star guard.
Gary Trent Jr. will be entering his sixth year in the league and is eligible for a four-year contract extension worth $113.6 million.

LeBron James Is Defying Time—And the Lakers Just Became a Nightmare for the NBA
Is This the Right Move? Do you think the Lakers made the right call moving on from AD? Will LeBron and Luka be a championship duo, or did LA mortgage its future? Drop your thoughts in the comments, or if you’ve got a hot take, tweet me @supercomafrica. Let’s debate.
A lot has changed for the Los Angeles Lakers in recent days, but one thing has remained constant—LeBron James refuses to bow to time. At 40 years and 38 days old, he just became the oldest player in NBA history to drop 40 points in a game, leading the Lakers to a thrilling 120-112 victory over the Golden State Warriors. And honestly, we need to stop acting surprised. This isn’t just another…

There's a Shootout in the Wild, Wild West!!!
Watch out, folks, and keep your heads down; for there’s a kill-or-be-killed, lose-and-you’re-gone shootout in the NBA’s wild Western Conference. The defending champions Denver Nuggets have been dragged into a mad and messy maulfest against a disrespecting young team from the Minnesota Timberwolves, with their 2nd round playoff series heading for a climactic Game 7. It has been an epic battle of…
