Charles specifically says “i can’t really say i’m in love with you back” and that they “have forever to figure out what the rest means.” He doesn’t say he isn’t in love with Edwin because he truly doesn’t know.

It’s stated that Charles has always lived his life (and afterlife) based on how he feels in the moment. When Edwin confesses to him, he hadn’t ever thought about them being together. He didn’t need to because he knew no matter what that him and Edwin would be together, so why bother thinking about it when he has everything he needs.

But Edwin’s confession makes him think about it for a second, but they’re in hell and they don’t have time so he settles on saying what he knows to be true; That he loves Edwin, that the love he feels for Edwin is more than he’ll ever feel for anyone else.

They’re bond goes deeper than friends or lovers, they are bound to each other, you can’t have Edwin without Charles and vice versa. So no he can’t say he’s in love with Edwin because what he feels for Edwin is so strong being in love with him doesn’t feel like it’s enough, how could that possibly encompass everything he feels for Edwin?

Theory for Season 2 of Dead Boy Detectives

Steve Yockey said Desire of the endless would make a tempting appearance in season 2 of dbda where the boys build relationships beyond friendship.

What if Despair of the endless is calling for Edwin and there he also meets Desire? Despair wants something from Edwin he is uncomfortable with and maybe desire offers Edwin a deal. Maybe desire the endless is interested in Edwin because of his repressed upbringing and denial of his own desires? The deal could contain that Edwin has to give in to 1-3 Desires in exchange for his freedom of Despair. And there are at least 2 (romantic ) desires of Edwin we know: kissing the cat king & being romantically involved with Charles. That could be really interesting 🧐

Edited: AND MAYBE Desire the endless appears in front of Charles (because we know Desire likes to play games) and hints at the hidden desire Charles has for Edwin while Charles builds a romantic relationship with crystal 🫢 And this could be one of the steps Charles has to take to realize his romantic feelings for Edwin 🧐

It’s one of many possibilities 🤓

See THIS is why I trust the writers because the whole point of the deadline passing was so we could SEE Poseidon surrendering for Percy. The show has given Poseidon a more active and loving role in Percys life. The gods pride would never let them surrender to one another. But Poseidon knew his brother wouldn’t spare his son’s life. And he knew the only thing that would spare his son’s life was him surrendering. ALSO FURTHER CEMENTING THAT PERCY IS HIS FAVORITE CHILD! The writers pens this episode>>>

One of my favorite trope for Steddie is Steve hunting down Eddie when the kids join Hellfire and giving him a long list of dos and donts.

At first Eddie thinks he’s just being a prick, and worried he’s going to turn the nerds into freaks like him. Especially when he says not to mention drugs in front of Dustin.

But then he starts pulling out lists of monsters that can’t be in campaigns. And like what??? Why can’t he use demagorgons? They were gonna be in the next combat! He’s tempted to ignore the warnings, in fact he’s all set to, but something about Steve’s face when he was laying it all out haunts him. Something so deadly serious about it. So first he decides to test the waters to see if he’s full of shit.

When the session starts, he makes a throwaway comment, “you’re acting like there’s a mindflayer around the corner.”

All the kids freeze but Wheeler especially looks like he’s going to be sick. He even grabs at the bracelet around his wrist. The one he always said his best friend made him before he moved.

Eddie curses himself for even trying to test it out after that, and immediately bullshits the whole session so he can scrap any hint of demogorgans from the campaign.

After that session he drives straight to Harringtons house and demands they go over all the things he can’t include again, in detail, while he takes notes.

He doesn’t know what’s going on with these freshmen, but he knows trauma when he sees it and well he’d gotten attached to the gremlins.

When he leaves that night, he thinks Steve is looking at him with approval. Like he trusts him with their well-being now.
