Weekly Test

obvious warning for dehumanizing and stuff like that. also blood being drawn is mentioned, but not described. also also not a warning but reminder that PS-05-01 is Shadow's designation on the ARK.

“Shadow,” he heard Professor Gerald gently call from the doorway, flicking the lights on. “it’s time for your weekly testing.”

The hedgehog grumbled a little bit, rubbing at his eyes to coax the sleep out of them. He was quite comfortable where he was, but by this point he knew better than to try and stay put. The weekly testing was very important; the scientists needed to monitor him for both his sake and Maria’s.

…At least, that was according to what little the professor had explained to him. Shadow had asked plenty of questions, but he more often than not didn’t receive any more answers.

He nudged his covers aside, casting a brief glance at Maria. She was still fast sleep, silent, breathing evenly. Maybe today would be a good day for her. Shadow’s ear twitched as he heard someone clear their throat, making the tag attached to it flutter. He hurried along toward the doorway.

“Good morning. I’m a little busy today, Shadow,” Gerald said, a warm smile just visible under his mustache. “so Doctor Thomas will be handling your test.”

With that, the professor left them alone, and Shadow redirected his gaze from his retreating form and up to the doctor. Dr. Thomas narrowed his eyes for a moment before quickly turning away, heading in the other direction. 

Shadow didn’t move. Dr. Thomas stopped once he took notice, throwing a glare over his shoulder.

“Hurry up, 05-01.” he nudged, “We don’t have all day.”

The hedgehog nodded briskly, rushing to catch up with the doctor.

By the time they finally reached the examination room, PS-05-01 was a lot more awake. That made it significantly harder to stay still as the monitors attached to him were removed, but he managed. It felt nice to not have them weighing him down, even if he knew the relief was only temporary.

From there, the room was silent, save for the hum of machinery and the sound of a keyboard.

PS-05-01 idly kicked his legs for a moment before stopping himself. He didn’t want to drop his feet hard enough to hit the table with his ankles; not because it hurt all that much, but because someone else—Dr. Moore—had snapped at him the first (and last) time he’d done it. He had no idea if Dr. Thomas was the same, and he didn’t really want to find out.

So he just sat there, wiggling his toes instead. Then his tail. Then his ears. When that got boring, he reached up and rubbed his ear tag between his forefinger and his thumb.

“Leave it,” the doctor snipped, not looking up. PS-05-01 obeyed and dropped his hand back into his lap.

Another minute crawled by. He rubbed at his other ear. Dr. Thomas didn’t say anything to that.

“What’s it for?” PS-05-01 blurted out, spurred on by boredom. The typing stopped.

“What?”

“The tag on my ear. What’s it for? No one else has one.”

To his surprise, the doctor actually sat back from his computer, though not without breathing a heavy sigh. “It’s like our name tags. It tells everyone else who you are and what you’re here for.”

That made sense.

At the same time, his tag was too different for that explanation to work; it was attached to his ear, not his chest, and when Maria read it aloud to him, it apparently had a warning on the back. It didn’t say what he was here for, either.

“But-” PS-05-01 started, wanting to ask more now that one of his questions had been answered, but Dr. Thomas glowered at him again. The words died in his throat.

“Look— the less you talk, the less time this will take. So keep quiet, okay?”

The hedgehog nodded.

“Great.”

As the doctor turned back to his work, silence draped back over them like a thick, uncomfortable, and agonizingly itchy blanket.

PS-05-01 frowned at the back of Dr. Thomas’ head. This was so incredibly boring. Why couldn’t he at least walk around during this part? He considered asking, but ultimately decided boredom was better than being yelled at.

Finally, after what felt like an agonizingly long half hour, the doctor turned toward the hedgehog once again and dragged his wheeled chair over to the table’s side. PS-05-01 laid down, having been through this enough to know each step by heart.

Over the next hour, the doctor poked and prodded at him, occasionally asking him to turn over, open his mouth, flex his fingers, or other small movements

At some point, he was told to open his mouth. A sheet was placed inside, which he cracked and then broke with minimal effort. Dr. Thomas wrote something down, fished it out of his mouth, then handed him a thick cylinder. With significantly more effort, PS-05-01 managed to crumple it in his hand, then a second one with his other hand.

The familiar exercises quickly blended together, and he obeyed each command—new or old—with little thought, his mind seeming to shut off like a machine left idle for too long.

By the time the door slid open again, PS-05-01 was flat on his back, eyes staring distantly at the ceiling. Dr. Thomas had just taken his blood, and he was feeling rather dizzy.

“Professor Robotnik. You're back rather early.” Dr. Thomas noted from somewhere to his left, and he heard the doctor stand. “You know I've got it handled, and the subject is being just as obedient as usual. You don't need to check on me.”

“Yes, of course! I mean no offense; it's Maria who wanted me to check on Shadow and see how he’s doing.”

The hedgehog in question stirred slightly, having barely caught Maria’s name through the haze.

“Maria…?” He willed himself to sit upright, ignoring the way the motion made his head swim. “Is she here?”

Gerald frowned at him, an emotion behind his glasses that Shadow didn't see often enough to recognize. Was he… sad? What was he sad about?

“I'm afraid not, my boy. She’s still going through her own series of tests.” He seemed to want to say more, but Dr. Thomas cleared his throat again, staring at the professor almost expectantly. Gerald instead nodded at both of them.

“...Right. I’ll be on my way.” He started for the door. “You take care now.”

Shadow slowly laid back down, and Dr. Thomas swiveled back to his computer.

“Crazy old coot…” He heard the doctor mutter under his breath. His ear flicked.

“Why?” the hedgehog asked, watching the back of his head again.

“Because he talks to you. Now please shut up before I become a crazy old coot too.”

“But Gerald is-”

“For fuck’s sake,” Dr. Thomas hissed. “don’t you know how to listen? Be quiet.”

PS-05-01 obeyed.

The mystery of that random magenta-haired Sonic woman: solved?

For almost three years now, there's been a little mystery in the Sonic franchise: who the hell is this lady?

Well, it seems like fans have collectively pieced together the answer. And it's more interesting than I expected.

For those who don't keep up with Sonic lore minutia like I do, this is a screenshot from the very first episode of TailsTube, released on YouTube back in March 2022. When Sonic and Tails were explaining the basics of their Earth and the fact that humans and anthropomorphic animals coexist, Tails showed a slide of some human NPCs from Sonic Unleashed. But the slide also included this never-before-seen character design, drawn in a conspicuously different, more anime-influenced art style from the Pixar-esque Unleashed characters. So... where's she from?

At the time, it was assumed that she was probably from an upcoming project. She looks like she could be an explorer of some sort, so maybe she's just an NPC from Frontiers, I thought. And then she wasn't in Frontiers. Sonic Prime, maybe? Nope, no humans in Prime. Okay, well maybe the IDW comics are going to start incorporating humans, now that the "two worlds" thing has been undone and humans once again canonically exist on the same planet as Sonic and friends. Well, if she's gonna show up in the comics, it's been almost three years and we still haven't seen her. That'd be a hell of a lead time for comics, where production cycles are typically a matter of months, not years. Time continued to pass, and we still hadn't seen her. We just had Ian Flynn teasing us with a #KnowingSmile, assuring us that she existed for some reason, just one that he couldn't talk about yet.

Fast forward to late 2024, and she suddenly makes an appearance in the last place anyone would have expected: the third live action movie, via an electronic billboard in Shibuya.

At this point it almost felt like the lore team was trolling us. Is this just a scrapped character design that's become fodder for inside joke cameos or something? Surely all of this teasing couldn't have been for a throwaway character design on a billboard in the background of a movie.

But actually, this billboard gives us an important piece of information: her name! She's labeled here as "Professor Tori." This is important because it connects her to a previous release. In Shadow Generations, Gerald's journal is prefaced with a note from the person who recovered it, addressed to the GUN Commander. In the English version, it's simply signed "T," but in the Japanese version... it's signed "Tori"!

This gives us some actual info about Professor Tori. For one, she seems to work for GUN in their Archival and Requisitions Department. She's apparently also interested in learning about Gerald and Maria's lives, like their old friend Abe is.

Jump forward again to the New Year's episode of TailsTube, and this appears in the background.

Her full name is officially given as Professor Victoria, and she's a historian. So, that seems to confirm everything we've pieced together so far.

As far as things we can reasonably assume to be correct go, this is everything we know for certain about Victoria. She's a historian working for GUN. Cool! But that's not what really fascinates me about her. For that, we have to do a little more speculation based on conjecture.

See, Shadow Generations also establishes information about the Robotnik family tree. Gerald had two sons. One of them took after Gerald's love of technology and became an expert in the field of robotics, and would go on to be Eggman's father. The other son took after Gerald's love of archaeology. This man would go on to be Maria's father. But, as Maria mentions in Shadow Generations... she also happens to have a little sister we've never met before.

So now, the question is: is this Maria's sister, Victoria Robotnik?!

We can't be 100% certain right now, but honestly, until proven otherwise I'm assuming that Victoria is Maria's little sister, now all grown up and working for GUN. It all lines up too neatly. The conspicuous reveal that Maria has an unseen and unnamed little sister, in the same game that establishes her dad was a history guy and also that there's this new historian working for GUN who just so happens to be really interested in her life. And also their names both end in "-ria." Come on!! Putting her in the Robotnik family would also explain all these cryptic clues about her identity. If she was just some random GUN agent, why be so coy and make fans piece it together?

I guess the most odd part here would be, y'know, Victoria working for the organization that killed her sister and grandpa. But Sega's been pushing the idea that GUN is trying to do better for 20 years now, ever since they established that the GUN Commander was Maria's childhood friend on the ARK and had him make amends with Shadow. Hearing that Maria's sister had joined GUN to try and gain access to information about her family history and undo the elaborate coverup of the previous administration would make sense to me, personally. And lest we forget, this would also make Victoria Eggman's cousin, giving him a family member in GUN. And that's a pretty cool storytelling tool to have on hand!

So, that's where we're at now. We have no idea where Victoria will pop up next, whether it's a game or a comic or another TailsTube episode or something else entirely. But it seems like she's fairly important, even if this speculation about her being a Robotnik somehow ends up being wrong. (But I'm pretty damn sold on this theory, personally.) Either way, it's exciting to see the human cast get fleshed out in fun ways again. If we're gonna have humans in Sonic stories, I'd rather they have anime-style designs and interesting connections to the narrative, rather than just being generic humans for the sake of having humans. I'm looking forward to seeing whatever the lore team's been cooking up here.

Professor Tori (aka "pink-haired lady") and everything we know about her

i havent seen any posts compiling everything about Tori yet, so consider this a masterpost of sorts for her.

march 24th, 2022, Tailstube #4 released with this graphic, showing a handful of npcs from Sonic Unleashed (and explaining how mobians/anthros/whatever usually live on islands and humans usually live on continents). one person stuck out, being the pink-haired lady behind Professor Pickle

as far as i know, this is all we knew about her for over two years. there was some speculation she was going to be in Frontiers, but obviously that wasnt true.

flash forward to december 10th, 2024 -- a clip of Shadow's introduction for Sonic Movie 3 is released, with a familiar face in the background...

yep, there she is! interestingly, she wasnt in this shot in the trailer that had this exact scene in it. they mustve added her in later for... some reason...? additionally, you can see text on the screen shes on.

the english text reads "12.30.24.START!" (tomorrows date, at the time of writing this), and the japanese text; プロフェッサートリィ, reads "Professor Tori" (or Torii, or Tory... ive heard there are a lot of different ways to translate it)

a name that starts with a T, with no additional context behind the character themself? well, that sounds an awful lot like --

the... note?? inside the front cover of Gerald Robotnik's journal???? sure enough checking the japanese translation of this note its explicitly signed by Tori (or Tory, depending on who you ask)

this is just about where the clues abruptly stop. anything else beyond here gets more into the speculation category. its also worth mentioning that Ian Flynn stated around the time she was first seen that "her inclusion is a tease" (source), so it wasnt a case of accidentally throwing old concept art in somewhere, it was a deliberate teaser for something coming in the future. apparently something coming tomorrow, if the movie clip is to be believed.

Self-indulgent reference sheet of my OC Gregor; a little old man that I kept on the shelf of my mindscape for a few years.

OC ramble under the cut:

Quick Bio: Dr. Gregor is a mobian historian and archeologist who can never quite put his adventuring days behind him. With plenty of wisdom to share from a lifetime of adventures, Dr. Gregor is always eager to help and lend advice to those who need it whether in the classroom setting, or to a young adventurer.

I like to imagine that if Gregor ever where a character in the sonic series, he'd probably be a Gandalf-esque character or a knowledgeable NPC like professor pickle. His younger self on the other hand, would be quite a bit different. I've played around the idea of a younger Gregor helping Gerald Robotnik in his initial studies and interest in echidna technology and history, though their friendship soon soured. Might tell that story one day, or not. Who knows?

Reasons why YOU should be suspicious of O'Connor

(contains spoilers to the princess event and slight Clarence's white day event) (it's also written from the prespective of an EN only player)

I believe O'Connor is in cahoots with Cael somehow and have alot of delusional reaching - that I and @smudgedvolt come up with in our secret lbc basement - to back me up

for one, he's the art TA for the school, and while Cael isn't the only art professor in the school, he was never specified to be anyone else's assistant, for all we know he may have been handpicked by Cael himself (i told you this had alot of delusional reaching)

he also just straight up didnt graduate, which is more of an indicator that Cael may have pulled some strings to get him to work in ST. Shelter

secondly, he's the only NPC that appears everywhere at all times on the map

he's the only NPC that does this as IL are the only ones that change location once per day, and NPCS like gerald and william are usually bound to where they are everyday

so how come he's the only one who can change location multiple times per day? and specifically going where YOU are?

what if he's specifically watching you?

he also gives MC alot of assignments,

Do you think he's maybe trying to keep her busy?

In his introduction, MC describes him as something that doesn't belong

it's not like its the first time she's seen tourists or older people at ST. Shelters?

later we learn that he was the council president, before he suddenly disappeared and came back unannounced

the only other people described by Clarence to have disappeared are MC and Cael and you obviously know what's up with them (this actually makes Clarence's relationship with MC a bit sadder bc this means he's used to people close to him like O'Connor suddenly disappearing without an explaination and this could be why he documented everything in his notebook)

and even if he didn't mean "fled" as in "disappeared", fled is still a strange choice of words, was he running away from something? someone?

he also seemed to know that she's missing points; he explains that, of course he knows as he was an art student as well, but would he be able to guess that she's behind all the other art students bc she missed a few activities?

next is the list he made during princess event, i haven't played princess event myself though so forgive me if any of this is explained at some point but

Clarence ruled out Cael because he also disappeared, although Cael has freaky time travelling powers but we cant rule out the possibility of someone else helping him

O'Connor is the only NPC with a card higher than R

i can't be the only one who finds it weird that Some Weird Art Guy™ just has an SR while lore important NPCS like Amelia and Naledi's counterparts are stuck as Rs and Ns?

although I can technically use this along with other points to point out how william is even MORE suspicious than O'Connor but thats a post for another day

"SXSG is meant to draw in new fans before they go into the third movie fully knowing Shadow's backstory!" Um, from what I've been hearing, the game still kinda requires you to already know the events of SA2 and Shadow's game, in order to understand SXSG's plot. A new fan won't know why Shadow is so adamant about Black Doom returning, or why Shadow is more in disbelief and not happy to see both Maria and Gerald alive. Ironically, both the manga and Dark Beginnings were meant to fulfill that purpose before SXSG's release, but whoops, apparently neither are canon because they each had continuity snarls that didn't match up. And that's not even getting into how the movie *clearly* made changes to fit that different continuity. Thus potentially confusing more new fans about Shadow than his backstory did back then. SXSG was just shallow synergy with the movie from the get-go and because ST had extra money to spend to make side-content for a 10+ year-old game. The fact that there had to be a 'Year of Shadow' for a movie that already was going to sell itself because the movies have done well so far, is bizarre to me.

Yeah, I heard this argument too. The intro kind of speedruns through the key events of Shadow's life, which is not the best way to fully understand his character - the very summary of Shadow's trauma, "a series of tragedy befell the ARK, GUN took the lives of Gerald and Maria", is incredibly vague and misses key details like Gerald's manipulation of Shadow to turn him into a tool of destruction.

You know what this reminds me of? The way Ace Attorney summarizes past events. For example, in the second game, Phoenix says that Manfred von Karma is no longer in this world, but he doesn't tell us that he was accused of murder and probably sentenced to death. Why? Because it expects newcomers to pick up the first game, so it won't spoil the big twists.

This is why I say that SXSG is meant for newcomers. It gives them the quickest recap of Shadow's character, without spoilers, so that in theory they can still find the older games and experience them... except for Black Doom and his genetic ties to Shadow, which if you think about it it's weird. Why is Black Doom treated like a late-arrival spoiler, but Gerald's descent into evil isn't? Even though SA2 is wayyyy more infamous than ShTH?

But yeah. If SXSG isn't for newcomers, then I don't know the point of the game.

Let me put it this way. The original Gens was a love letter to Sonic's history as a whole until then. You kinda have to know it to fully appreciate it. The plot is paper-thin, because it doesn't matter: what matters is going through the levels with new gameplay styles. Sure, new fans can still find it fun because it's a good game, but they're gonna miss all the references, or the significance of redesigning Crisis City. Gens and Mania are not entry-games: they're games specifically for old-time fans who have stuck with Sonic for years.

SXSG isn't the same. Sure, the game itself is a good homage to Shadow's story, with all the levels that represent key moments in his arc (except for Chaos Island which is just there). But this game has a story. And what does this story say? ... well, nothing that hasn't been established already. If you have played SA2, ShTH and '06 (especially ShTH), then the plot of "BD wants to awaken Shadow's alien biology to suit his needs, Shadow thinks it's a load of crap because he's his own person" can only be stretched so thin to be interesting. His relationship with Maria is hardly more fleshed out than it already was in ShTH: she gets some nice personal details in her NPC dialogue, but she is still the kind selfless girl who wants Shadow to be happy, and Shadow wants to make her happy, and we know this. He barely talks with Gerald, even though he too is supposed to be important, and in fact Shadow could have been torn between the kind professor he remembers, and the knowledge of what he'll do to him in the future. Shadow's character doesn't move in any direction: he's still in the same place he has been since '06, except that this game hasn't erased itself from the timeline.

This is why I compared it with Frontiers: it just all feels like a recap and a "re-railment" at the same time. It's for people who want to know Shadow, and this is the entry point before redirecting them to previous games, or even the movie. And older fans... well, they get to say "WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK", right? Because we are in the "WE ARE SO FUCKING BACK" era, I suppose :)

Sonic is probably the only game series where fatphobia is largely absent. You'd think Eggman's weight would make him an easy target for mockery, but aside from "giant talking egg" and perhaps laughing a little too loudly at "Baldy McNosehair," Sonic refrains from mocking his foe's physical appearance.

I like to think the implication is that Sonic regards a person's character more than their appearance. It's actually kind of funny too since he's likelier to make fun of Eggman being old or loud than fat. In Battle he remarks "the old guy sure seems excited about something."

I suppose... there are a few moments in the Pontaff era where he skirts the line, but they're not really anything more than fleeting moments. He rubs his stomach when looking at his Classic self in Generations and recommends "diet and exercise" to Zomom. I think that's one of the few times he actually mocked someone for their appearance. While getting hit with a huge sandwich. Lol though I thought we don't talk about LW anyway.

As a matter of fact, I'd argue Eggman acts as positive fat representation. He subverts the trope of fat men being portrayed in media as unintelligent and lazy by serving a role as the series' villain. By being the most cunning, persistent, and intelligent character in the cast. That's a part of the reason why this insistence on downplaying his intelligence via his supposed inability to plan bugs me. Why are you in favor of taking away that which makes him unique?

I usually mention Eggman in this regard, but we mustn't neglect his grandfather. Gerald is not treated like a buffoon for his physique, but a brilliant and tragic figure in his own right, responsible for some of the greatest and most terrifying advancements in his world. The games rightfully grant him the gravitas he deserves. He was a deep thinker and a philanthropist, with a surprisingly more complex character than other series would probably have afforded him. The games have Shadow's respect for the Professor extend even as far as continuing to call his grandson by his title of "Doctor." ShTH pays his memory further respect when the Commander and President agree to work toward a brighter future. I love it.

Unleashed features NPCs of all skin colors and body types. Fat characters are presented without fanfare, simply existing as ordinary human beings alongside their thin counterparts.

In addition, there's a sidequest where you can get a Spagonia student, Dora, with her crush, David, who reciprocates her attraction. The situation is not treated like a punchline or a joke. Dora looks like this:

Sonic Wishlist: NPCs I’d Like to Play As/Crossovers

Uhhhh yesterday I thought this would be a fun list to put to hehehe so I left Infinite and Mephiles for it…only to realize that there are precious few other characters left in this franchise they haven’t been playable in any form, and even those two are at least in the phone game. Vanilla the Rabbit is probably the biggest other one and I’m not even sure there’s a canon 3D model of her.

Uhhhh, the president? The GUN commander from shadow? Gerald robotnik? Omochao? Professor Pickle and the strange little creature from Unleashed? The sketchy black market chao salesman? Cubot and orbot?

I suppose boss fights are the closest source of unplayed characters but even then…the biolizard? Hard boiled heavies? The motobug?

I think maybe the funniest one would be Princess Elise without a doubt.

As for crossover characters I’d like to see in a sonic game, I already listed the obvious NiGHTS and Samba De Amigo but I’d love to see Hatsune Miku and Danica Patrick since she was in that one sonic racing game, I just think it would be funny. House of the Dead references always crack me up too. I’m kind of surprised we haven’t gotten Kiryu from Yakuza in any crossover capacity yet.

We’ve gotten sonic in monkey ball but the reverse could be fun, especially in 2D sonic.

Besides that, I’ll just have to hold out for a Vectorman or Comix Zone reference.

IRENE MINJUNG PARK ( FC: SUZY BAE. )

a friend of mana and a close friend and roommate of calum. outspoken and friendly, irene grew up in a loving family and learned early on to hold on to her korean roots. back in college, she was the psychology major known for both her looks and her brilliant mind and was well-loved ( and still is to this day ) by her peers and professors. considered the golden girl of her grade, she was also the secretary of KSA and the president of an asian interest sorority. an ardent advocate for mental health and se*xual assault awareness and accessible mental health services. formerly one to think in absolute terms and to humble-brag, she's learned especially during her time working as a therapist that in order to help people one must listen first before making any assumptions. her attempts at the very beginning were often short-sighted, performative at best and egocentric at worst. although she was not nearly as close to daniel as mana and calum were, she too was profoundly changed by daniel's passing and decided to go into counselling for grad school as a result.

today, she's a therapist for survivors of domestic and/or se*xual a*buse and though having a mini crush on calum herself, likes to tease both him and mana about their relationship. also had a major crush on daniel. and despite being envious/annoyed with her, mana also had a crush on irene back in college as well.

DARREN DUC HUYNH ( FC: JOHNNY TRI NGUYEN. )

a maternal second cousin of mana. viewing hong as family, he feels that it is his duty to look out for both her and her granddaughter despite only meeting them very recently. a prosecutor well respected in his field, darren worked very hard to get to where he is now and often gives advice regardless of if it is asked of him or not. mana's main description of him is 'well-intentioned but doesn't know when the hell to shut up'. visits hong and mana at least three times every month.

lives in the manhattan area with his husband and their two kids.

PHUOC TRAN ( FC: DUSTIN NYUGEN. )

mana's father, who has only recently reached out to her and hong. formerly argumentative and hot-headed, starting a family with his second wife helped him mellow out and become more reliable over the years. the death of his first wife weighs heavily on him along with the abandonment of his oldest daughter. he walked out on mana six months following mai's death, out of the belief that he could not properly take care of her alone.

with his second wife, he's a father to their three kids ( two sons and a daughter ) and he hopes one day mana might be able to let him back into her life as her dad.

a regular patron at the library. mana named him 'bird man' in her head because of his very intense friendship with his pet partner bird, gerald, who is a barred parakeet. right now, he's looking up all the information he'll need to take gerald back to its native land in mexico. occasionally will give mana boiled eggs.

SETH JIN ( FC: JOHN CHO. )

librarian of the university that mana, calum, and daniel attended and the advisor for ksa. generally easygoing and helpful, he could be very snippy when students interrupted the quiet hours. acted as mana's work-study supervisor and wrote her a recommendation letter when she was applying for grad school. was very concerned about her health thru out her four years and is relieved to know she is recovering. mana keeps in touch with him via email.

Characters In My Nexus Series

In order not to limit myself on potential plots and story ideas, I’m just throwing all my favourite characters into this series. I’m being very ambitious with my said series, I know, but eh what you gonna do? Also, if you see don’t see a particular character on this list and wonder why, the answer is one of two things; I forgot or I didn’t want to add them :’D But I think I got everyone. I’m just adding my favourites because I’m a writer and I’m going to enjoy writing this series :’3

Now, for my series and for the sake of simplicity, Arcania/Iorys is an isolated island on earth. Think New Zealand or Australia even. Somewhere cut off from the majority of the world. Just work with me here.

Secondly, there are no Arkens in this series. No special ~Aliens~ that are the overseers of the universe. No. Why? Because I think that’s stupid and undermines the plots/stories of the previous entries. Besides, as supposedly powerful and all-wise race, they’re extremely useless :/

Moving on; since Maginia is indeed a flying city, I’m envisioning that it stops by all the previous cities/towns in order to restock their supplies and to pick up anyone who wishes to help in the expedition. It is during this time that Villard (war magus and important professor and private investigator) reaches out to some old associates and ask them to join the expedition. The mysteries and legends surrounding Lemuria are as vast as the island itself. So he needs all the help he can get.

Etria/EO1/Untold1;

Class/Guild: Remedy (another orange-haired medic) and Zircon (another red-haired landsknecht). They’re partners and look just like Axel and Lynus, and I want them to interact because they look so alike :’3 Simon and Lindis (maybe they agreed to join Shilleka in order to watch over her while the others take care of her shop temporarily??)

NPCs: Quinn (Remedy’s older brother who is very protective~) Guildmaster (who I named Jemella and is Quinn’s partner) Austin (he’s a detective as well so would likely know of Villard)

Lagaard/EO2/Untold2:

Class/Guild: Guardians – Lynus, Axel, Jhon, Tobyn, Macerio, Lirit, Rahas, Magnus, Shen, Chi-hung, Hamza, Cedric, Mahogany, Zeryn, Topaz Cosmos: Shiki, Gerald, Simmons, Ghali, Benedict, Farley Others: Ryker, Darrell, Avith, Zalaph, Sardonyx, Rubell, Gage Flavio, Fafnir, and Bertrand (Chloe can either be staying with Arianna for a while or made a guild with the other pinkettes and are just ruling over Lagaard now. Hana is SO proud)

NPCs: Hrothgar and Wulfgar, and Wulfgar Jr (honorary members of the Guardians) Cass (replacing Kvasir, most likely) Dr Stiles (asked to join to help in the opening/running of the hospital in Maginia)

He hummed, taking in the anonymous stranger's words. While he ultimately was proud of the powerful life he'd managed to create, Gerald couldn't help being wary of the deal he'd made with Black Doom.

Would the Eclipse Cannon be used against the Black Arms as intended, or would they get their claws on the Chaos Emeralds? Maybe G.U.N. would even seize the Eclipse Cannon for themselves before then.

There was just no telling what the future held.

He cleared his throat, moving on. "My grandson- yes. I think if I had to tell him something right this very moment, I'd say... Hm."

A beat.

"No matter how many times others may call you 'eccentric' or 'strange', remember that you would not be as brilliant of a young man without those qualities. Even if no one else believes in you, never give up, my boy!"

"Shadow has given Maria many things she would not have otherwise. A friend, a brother, a glimpse of a normal life, and... hope. For herself, and for humanity. No matter what may happen next, I can't even begin to imagine taking all that away from her."

Gerald sighed through his nose, staring tiredly through his dark glasses as he reread the question. "Shadow... Or as it's known more formally, PS-05-01, has had a very odd effect on me. Not necessarily a positive or a negative one, but..." He sighed again, politely folding his hands together, his voice lowering as he continued.

"PS-05-01's behavior--the way it interacts with my granddaughter--has certainly made me rethink certain things."

It was so much like a child. A real child- human. It had only been half a month, but Maria already seemed to consider it the little brother she'd never had.

"...But I'm afraid I can't stop now. I must see Project Shadow to its completion; or at least as close as I may possibly get."

"But I'm sure you'll be happy to know that we exchange letters during our monthly supply shipments. They're doing quite well, all things considered. Sometimes their youngest even pitches in a little letter of her own! Oh-ho-ho!"
