Thunk.

You dropped the pallet down, stunning the creature.

“You should not do such things.” Its glitchy, monotone voice uttered.

You paused.

You didn't even really have time to run before it spoke.

And for some reason…

“S… Sorry.”

It paused.

Then its sleek, metal leg crushed the wooden planks under it.

And you didn't move.

And it didn't hurt you.

“Is this the part where I run?” You speak up, half jokingly.

“No.” It says plainly.

“Calibrating... Your refusal is futile.”

“I- Sorry…?” You say again.

“You are not fit for this experiment. I will be taking you now.”

“W-What?!” You cry out, trying to take a step back.

It quickly grabs you, clutching the back of your shirt with its claw.

“You should thank me for this.”

You tense.

“T-Thank you…?”

You're so confused.

“Good worm.”

Things just continued from there.

You stayed in its grasp as it brutalized the others in the trial, mangling their legs so they'd just bleed out.

And then, when the realm was about to collapse…

You just went unconscious.

Waking back up was a nightmare.

At least, you wished it was.

You were somewhere in its realm still- The Entity’s hand picked wreckage of whatever planet the Singularity had come from.

You were on the floor. It was cold. But on the bright side, there seemed to be… Some kind of fabric near you. Large enough to cover most of your body, if you curled up.

You start to stir more, pushing up before falling flat back down as your limbs buckle under you.

Yelping in pain, you can't help it but cry.

Your pain is only worsened when you feel… Something… Coiling around your ankle.

It's like the fleshy plants of this planet. Like the nasty growths of skin covering the Singularity’s robotic form.

You whimper and tug on it, panic setting in.

There's a few odd clunks- Getting closer.

But you're too terrified to process them.

“Stop struggling.” Its voice suddenly speaks up, shocking you out of your efforts. You scramble back, still laying on the ground.

“Refusal is futile. You are safe now.”

In what world was this safety?

"What are you talking about?"

“Your inferior mind was no match for future experiments.”

“Lemme go-” Your voice cracks and you break down into a sob. “Lemme- Lemme go!” You cry out louder, quivering as you do so.

“You are emotional. It is amusing.”

You shake as your fists ball up. Leaning back against the ruined barrels and such behind you, you simply break down sobbing.

It stares at you, motionless.

“You should not be crying.” There's… It almost sounds genuine. Like it can't understand why you'd be upset with it.

You don't respond. Just cry.

Shuffling closer, its scythe arm brushes against you.

Of course, you flinch away, whimpering. But…

Its head tilts slightly.

“Stop it.” It utters. “Your whines are irritating.”

You keep crying, curling up slightly.

“ . . . Analyzing situation.”

“Calibrating.”

“What is the problem?”

You scowl, glancing up at it.

“You took me.” You hiss.

“Incorrect. I have saved you.”

“You kidnapped me!"

“You were going to get yourself killed. I have saved you. You thanked me.”

You tense.

“Why are you acting up now?”

You tilt your head down, feeling just barely calmer.

“You scare me.” You mumble.

“A logical response.”

“So you'll-”

“You are never leaving.”

Shudder.

“Fuck you! I hate you!” You scream.

“Your emotional blabbering has lost its charm. I advise you to stop. Or I will make you.”

A harsh huff leaves you. “What? You'll kill me? Good. I don't want to be-”

You're slammed against the barrels behind you. A quick breath is forced out.

“It will be slow. Painful. You will not die.”

You're back to sobbing, completely hysterical.

“There. There. Be a good worm.” It's pressed closer to you… Oddly intimately. Its right arm is behind you, forcing you to lean into it or risk being cut.

“I hate you.” You whimper.

“Your emotional outburst…. Is valid. You will not be punished for them. If you stay put.”

You swallow, lower lip quivering. And… Hesitantly lean into him, nuzzling softly.

“There. Good…”

It seemed to stop itself from saying something.

“P… Please get- Get my leg out.. Out of th… Please?” You struggle to find the words. “I'll- I'll stay right here. I just… Don't like being tied up when I don't wanna be…”

“Beg for it.”

“ . . . I'm- I'm not gonna-” Your ears move in embarrassment.

“Then it stays.”

“ . . . Mh-” A weak sound escapes you. “Okay.” Your voice is so quiet.

“Little worm is deceptive. He stays until his superior can trust him.”

A little whine escapes you, and you nod.

It's not like you could do much else.

Maybe it would kill you. Maybe, like it said, it would just torture you. The Entity had already allowed it to take you. To remove you from Her trials. Maybe forever. Maybe just until it got bored of you. And by then, She'd likely be bored too. And you'd finally, truly die.

But no.

The Singularity would keep you.

Forever.

You were human.

Bound to have some reaction to anything it did.

The slightest change could spark a massive, brand new reaction.

And it would love to…

Study you.

That's all this was.

Right?

May I ask you some questions about your writing process for your Boondock Saints, The Walking Dead crossover? I’m curious how you approached something that you knew was going to be a long huge story that would take forever to write. Did you plot everything out from the beginning to end? And do you schedule yourself to write a goal each day?

Thanks for the ask! I really like this one.

Tbh, I don’t think I have a real writing process. When I first came up with my fic series, it was really just for fun bc I thought it would be interesting to imagine how things would be affected if the Saints were in TWD. Then, I decided to write my own series and it just exploded from there. It’s kinda the same thing with all my stories (that I’m still working on before I post). Adding my OC was basically me jumping in to the story as well bc why shouldn’t I have fun in all this? Lol.

As for the plot as a whole, it’s kind’ve a mix between plotting everything out and winging it. I did download a timeline app on my iPad specifically to track major stuff through the series as a whole. Specifically figuring out exactly how long each season lasted (timeline wise, not the show’s runtime). Like how long from the virus’s initial outbreak to when Rick was left behind in the hospital, where would all my characters go, who died when and where (and maybe how if the idea comes to me). Since as many of you have probably already read, there are several characters that I’ve kept alive who (at the point of my series) should already be dead. For a few of them, they’re still going to die, but I wanted to give them, I guess, better deaths?? It’s hard to explain as it’s been a while since I’ve actually looked at my story timeline.

Though, I’m gonna go back and make a bunch of new ones later one that follow the rest of the series that I haven’t gotten to yet. Hell, I still don’t entirely know how to finish off the last season. I know what I want, but I need to watch the last season to really see how it ended before I figure out how to work my way there. Though, that probably won’t be until much later. I’m still on season 4 of TWD, which isn’t new information since that’s where I’ve been since I first finished writing season 3 (part 6 which is currently being posted) like almost 2 years ago I wanna say??

If you’re interested in what stories I’m writing, I think I actually wrote it all out in a post long time ago. However, I have made additional stories that I’d like to post one day. Though, it won’t be until I’ve written up to certain points for each story. I like having a bunch already written out so that I have breathing room before I need to write more in case I let myself get caught up writing other stuff (like I am now lol).

As for your last question… I don’t really set a schedule. I just write when I wanna write whenever I can write (which was a lot of times now that I think about it). I don’t set a goal either. I don’t like adding unnecessary pressure that I don’t need. I write because I had a fun story idea that I wanted to make. I share my story online because I thought that there might be others who would enjoy it. And there had been bc I’ve been receiving nothing but love since I first started posting and have always appreciated the support and adored the comments that readers would leave in AO3.

For the following ships, explain what you love the most about them, ex: their dynamic, chemistry, etc: tododeku, sheith, and kinnporsche

Oh man. Idk if the incoming ramble will b coherent but here goes:

Tododeku: I love everything about them. I love that Midoriya is the first person Shouto opened up to and from then on, Todoroki literally became ride or die. He may be doing better about making friends but Izuku is first and thus will always have his unending loyalty. They are equals in a way and sort of balances each other out. They are just...they just fit. When I first began watching MHA, I did not go into with a ship in mind but came out of it shipping the two...and I do not regret that one bit 😄

Sheith: ok, I will admit that in some aspects, this ship can come off a bit on the unhealthy side but not worryingly so because it corrects itself. Keith loves Shiro and will come to his defense 100% even against others. To Keith, Shiro is everything. To Shiro, he has a partner who balances him out. Keith will always b Shiro's main supporter and vice versa but Keith will let Shiro make his own decisions and choices. Their chemistry is unparalleled. And despite what the show tried to end with, it's obvious they are for each other. Tbh, it was seeing fanart and gifs of them that made me interested in watching VLD and when I did, I got to learn more about them and the more I watched, just solidified why they should've been canon and why they belong together.

KinnPorsche: my God did I fall for this couple just like the above. They have started out roughly but their dynamic? Oooh. With Porsche, Kinn can be...free. he's still head of the main fam, but he can also be free in a way with Porsche. Porsche can take care of himself, but with Kinn, he has someone to share the load and to take care of him too. Again, same as with Sheith, it was seeing clips of them on here that made me curious and then I finally was able to see the show and I got it. Yes, they had a lot of things to overcome (trust issues on *both* sides) but they work. 🙂

I just...idk how to explain these couples because to me..they fit. They balance each other out and makes sense together. With them, it feels...right. none of them are perfect but they are perfect for each other. For each couple, each make the other stronger, make them want to be better and to do better. 😊

I will never not ship them. They are right up there with Tommy/Kimberly and Draco/Harry.

This account has reached 80 follwers in ten days and my main blog has also gained almost a hundred readers in that time. I currently have 3 requests in my ask box, one of them is practically done but I'm backed up with exam work.

Also, I'm in the middle of moving back to my home country and leaving Switzerland is almost as hard as moving there. As someone who has been writing for a good few years now, what are some of the hard truths you have learnt during your time?

Ok, I'll be the old granny sitting on her front porch in her old rocking chair for you kids. Now, sit close and listen to old grandmama's wisdom.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the word "said". Please, for the love of god, use it. It is far, far better than having a novel full of alternatives, trust me. You may feel like you're overusing it while writing, but you're not.

No matter how many herbal teas, walks in nature, relaxing music, or other gentle activities you do, the only way to break writer's block is to write. Grit your teeth and write something. Anything at all. You don't have to like it, but do it.

Doing something half-assed is better than not doing anything at all. You can always come back and edit it. Through the power of technology, editing is a whole lot easier. Inserting more detail into your novel is as easy as inserting your cursor into where you want to type and then start typing. No excuses.

Writing advice posts are nothing more than someone's personal preference. They are not written in stone. It is how they do things. It is their way of doing things. Do not follow their advice completely and fully. Find your own way of doing things. Find your own rhythm. Find your own pace. Follow the kind, friendly advice of others, but understand that they are only to lead you in the right direction, not to build the path for you.

Any advice post that is written aggressively or serves to insult, belittle, or guilt-trip other authors, or treat you like an idiot for not already knowing this information, are not someone who are worth listening to. If they cannot summon up the good manners or decency, they do not deserve the attention they so desperately crave. Ignore such people. The moment they issue out insults to authors who are "not like them" or are novices in the field, please disregard them. And know that they would not hesitate to turn on you should they feel the need. Do not give them air.

On that note, never give into the demands of others. It is rewarding bad/toxic behavior. They will never be satisfied, demanding more and more from you. Set your boundaries and adhere to them. No matter who is making these demands. I do not care how popular they are, I don't care if they are the most popular/important person in your fandom/genre, if they throw a temper tantrum because you have boundaries, they are not worth your time or effort. Block their asses and move on with your life. You have much, much better things to do.

And lastly, the most important person in this whole process is YOU. You are the author. You are the one providing your time, energy, effort, and resources to reveal your stories, your writings to the world. You don't have to, but you do. And that's a truly beautiful thing.

State of the Fic: Ashes and Stardust

As we close in on the one year anniversary, I thought I should update you all on some major changes to my plans.

You might have noticed that it's been a month+ since I've last updated. Truth is, I've kind of gotten bored of HotD. I fill the queue on this blog, but that's about it. I'm not the kind of person who drops out of a fandom the instant it's not fresh, but I've basically been eating, sleeping, and breathing this fic for a full year now, and I'm getting to the point where I really need a break.

That being said, this is the longest fic I've ever written, it holds a special place in my heart, and I'm not going to stop here without leaving a proper ending in case I hate S2 and decide not to pick it back up again. My original plan was for Book 1 to go through the start of the Dance, to about where Season 1 ends. We're scarcely halfway there. Not exactly a proper ending, is it?

So I've decided to split Book 1, which will end after Aegon and Rhaelle's wedding night in Chapter 36. It's actually a decent stopping point, all things considered. Ties up the main plot of Book 1 while leaving enough threads hanging for Book 2, and it's a happy ending before the tonal shift into conflict that would have filled the timeskip.

I'll be posting Chapter 30 in the next few days, then it's going to be mostly radio silence from me for the month of November. I'll be participating in NaNoWriMo, with the goal of finishing Book 1. Assuming I can actually meet the goal of 1k words a day, that should be enough words to do it. There won't actually be any chapter updates in November, because I edit things pretty thoroughly before posting and when I'm editing, I'm not writing. I'll be focused on getting my drafts finished rather than getting them cleaned up for you guys.

If all goes well, then December will be the month of editing and posting, and I'll finish Ashes and Stardust by the end of the year. After that, I'll be taking my break from House of the Dragon, though I'll be back around (at least for fandom purposes) by the time Season 2 starts airing.

Because I cannot praise the Death Before Dragons series enough, here’s my ramblings. 

I’ve currently gone through six of... eight/nine books (I forget the exact number) in the series and it is so much fun!

Lindsay Buroker is an indie author who writes fantasy. DBD is urban fantasy set in the Washington state area.

Badass female protagonist Val who is a half-elf and an assassin working for the government. She also has a tiger familiar who she can speak with telepathically. I really like their dynamic.

Even the side characters who help Val with her escapades are very entertaining. I really like Nin, her weapons maker.

The whole series has some engaging plots, dialogue, and worldbuilding as the characters explore various worlds belonging to other magical creatures.

Eventual romance.

The first seven books are FREE on youtube as audiobooks! That’s how I discovered them. Really glad I took the chance and clicked the video on a whim. I will put the link to the first book here. It has a really good narrator.
