A mural in Nairobi which is part of a triptych created by a team of six Kenyan and Ukrainian artists. 🇰🇪🇺🇦
The Kenyan news site Tuko reports:
Kenyan and Ukrainian artists worked together on a beautiful triptych mural that symbolises a beautiful partnership between the two countries
According to one of the Ukrainian artists this wall project signifies the start of relations between the nations
This project dubbed Grains of Culture explores three themes: the colonial past and post-colonial roles, the collapse of empires, and national identity
Vladimir Putin views Ukraine as a colony which never should have become independent. In that respect, the invasion of Ukraine is an echo of some of the imperialist colonial wars of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Just as Kampala is known as "the city that never sleeps" and Nairobi as "the city with a national park full," Rwandans worked hard to have their city recognized, making it exceptionally clean, orderly, and safe until it was dubbed "Africa's Switzerland." You might choose solely city trips in Africa, and you will be shocked at how unique the cities of Nairobi, Kampala, Kigali, and Dar es Salaam are. Kigali is a vibrant city known for its cleanliness, order, and hospitality. It provides travelers with some of the greatest city tours available on the African continent. Many visitors have had nothing to say about their experiences here.

Kigali Genocide Memorial
Rwanda's 1994 genocide was unquestionably awful, and the Kigali Genocide Memorial does a superb job of remembering it during your Kigali city tour. A visit to the monument is unforgettable because tourists learn about the events leading up to, during, and following the 1994 genocide against the Tutsi, which resulted in the loss of over 250,000 lives. One Single Rose®
Tumblr media
Rosemarie Wilson a.k.a. One Single Rose® is an award-winning poet and playwright, spoken word artist, singer, actress, filmmaker, author of three self-published poetry collections,  and nice and naughty chapbooks. Rosemarie is the first poet to be filmed in Motown’s infamous Studio A and the first Motown Mic Performance Artist of the Year.
Debuting in Detroit as an actor, she has performed nationally, and internationally, in a few amazing productions. Her notable performances include singing the National Anthem at a Detroit Piston’s game, TMZ Live commentary cast member, SoFar Detroit performing artist, the Floacist’s Flovertex and Sidewalk Festivals of the Performing Arts in Detroit, MI, Kistrech Poetry Festival in Kisii and Nairobi, Kenya, Piton International Film Festival in St. Lucia, International Videopoetry Festival in Athens, Greece as well as a one-year tour in Europe.
She is currently a featured artist and songwriter dubbed “Queen Rose” with Defected Records, the United Kingdom’s #1 house music record label. Find her streaming on all platforms as One Single RoseTM or Queen Rose. She is also the first poet published under the Broadside-Lotus Press merger; two of the oldest African-American presses in the United States.  As a poetry host, she has hosted various open mics as well as performed for local and international dignitaries.
Author Name: One Single Rose®
How long have you been writing? I’ve been writing officially since the second grade many moons ago when I won my very first poetry contest.
Did you ever imagine that you would be published one day? I had no idea that I would pen anything, but have been following the word as it leads ever since I relinquished my life to the word.
What made you want to become an author? I didn’t know I’d become an author.  Heartache brought me to pen poetry as an adult.  Before I knew it, I had a full collection.
How long have you been published? I’ve been published since 2009.
How does it feel to be published? It’s a huge accomplishment to have anything published.  I feel very excited for my path and honored that the word chose me as a vessel for delivery.
Are you self-published or did you go through a publishing company? Why? I self-published my first two collections and appear in quite a few collections.  As a result of winning a poetry slam, I am the first poet published under the Broadside/Lotus Press merger; two of the first African-American presses in the United States.  I chose to self-publish my work for profits sakes.  A 60/40 split for my intellectual property and hard work just don’t work for me.
How many books have you written? I have penned two full poetry collections, one erotic chapbook and one chapbook featuring poems about my great city of Detroit.
What is/are the name of your book(s)?
One Single Rose…Poetry Blossomed from a Rose Core
One Single Rose Out of Darkness Into Light
Pearl’s Plays
Miss Detroit®
What genre is it/are they in?
Lyrical Poetry
Spoken Word
Erotic Poetry
Inspirational Poetry
What do you feel will inspire others to never forget when they read your story(ies)? Stay true to yourself.  Remember that can’t = won’t.  You can do whatever you set your mind to.
What's the hardest part about writing a book? Getting started…
What's the easiest part about writing a book? Creating a storyline.
What do you enjoy most about being an author? It’s fulfilling to see my ideas on the page.  The words become real when they’re staring you right in the face.
What do you enjoy least about being an author? I can’t say that I don’t enjoy anything about being an author.
What is your favorite genre to read? Is it different than the one that you write in? I enjoy reading horror stories.  It’s different watching a horror story than reading one, using my imagination to show me what the author intended in lieu of seeing images on screen then having nightmares.
Where can interested readers purchase their copy of your book(s)? My work can be purchased on my website.
Do you have any future projects in the works? Is there a tentative release date? I am currently compiling a new collection from a special activity that I do at events on an old-school typewriter.  I don’t want to give the idea away just yet, but it is in the works.  I hope to release the book on my birthday (3-13-2024).
Do you have any social media sites that you would like to share with my readers? My website, Instagram, Facebook, and Spotify.

Over 150 content moderators working for social media giants Facebook, TikTok, and Open AI’s ChatGPT on Monday resolved to register a workers union dubbed the Content Moderators Union. This is in the backdrop of an ongoing legal battle between workers of Facebook parent company Meta’s moderation partner Sama and over poor working conditions in the Nairobi moderation hub.
from billy perrigo, who posted this thread summarizing content moderation work of the kind done by Sama & other companies earlier this year:
The current and former workers, all employed by third party outsourcing companies, have provided content moderation services for AI tools used by Meta, Bytedance, and OpenAI—the respective owners of Facebook, TikTok and the breakout AI chatbot ChatGPT. Despite the mental toll of the work, which has left many content moderators suffering from PTSD, their jobs are some of the lowest-paid in the global tech industry, with some workers earning as little as $1.50 per hour.

Death toll in Kenya starvation cult case climbs to 73
MALINDI: The death toll in a case involving a Kenyan cult that practiced starvation climbed to 73 Monday, police sources told AFP as investigators unearthed more corpses from mass graves in a forest near the coast. A major search is underway near the coastal town of Malindi where dozens of bodies were exhumed over the weekend, sending shockwaves through the country as President William Ruto vowed to crack down on "unacceptable" religious movements. A full-scale investigation has been launched into the Good News International Church and its leader, named in court documents as Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, who preached that death by starvation delivered followers to God. Police had previously named the suspect as Makenzie Nthenge. It is believed some of his devotees could still be hiding in the bush around Shakahola, which was raided by police earlier this month after a tip-off from a local non-profit group. Since then, a number of people have been rescued and dozens of bodies unearthed in mass graves dug in shallow pits. "We have 73 bodies from the forest by this evening and the exercise will continue tomorrow," a police officer involved in the probe told AFP on condition of anonymity. "It is a very sad state of affairs on how these people died and were buried in shallow graves because we found six bodies squeezed in one grave today," he said. Another senior police official also confirmed the death toll, saying: "Some of the bodies were just in the forest and had not even been buried." The toll had earlier stood at 58, according to police chief Japhet Koome who visited the site on Monday. A 325-hectare (800-acre) area of woodland has been declared a crime scene as teams clad in overalls search for more burial sites and possible cult survivors. Ruto, speaking in Kiambu county neighbouring Nairobi, said there was "no difference" between rogue pastors like Nthenge -- who has been arrested and is awaiting trial -- and terrorists. "Terrorists use religion to advance their heinous acts. People like Mr Mackenzie are using religion to do exactly the same thing." "I have instructed the agencies responsible to take up the matter and to get to the root cause and to the bottom of the activities of... people who want to use religion to advance weird, unacceptable ideology." - 'Unfolding horror' - As authorities try to uncover the true scale of what is being dubbed the "Shakahola Forest Massacre", questions have emerged about how the cult was able to operate undetected despite Nthenge attracting police attention six years earlier. "The unfolding horror that is the Shakahola cult deaths should and must be a wake-up call to the nation, more particularly the National Intelligence Service (NIS) and our community policing programme," Amason Jeffah Kingi, the speaker of the senate, said in a statement. "How did such a heinous crime, organized and executed over a considerable period of time, escape the radar of our intelligence system?" Nthenge was arrested in 2017 on charges of "radicalisation" after urging families not to send their children to school, saying education was not recognised by the Bible.

New York Post : Mountains of trashed, trendy clothes overflow landfills, hurt environment: report
I don't understand why people feel so good buying cheap disposable clothes. do you not see the cost to the environment?
Take a look at this and see for yourself how fast fashion retailers like shein, h&m and many others; are contributing to a global problem.
fast fashion is overwhelming the environment and its ability to recycle this often unrecyclable trash
think twice before you purchase that cute $5 top that you know cost more than that to make.
