Ms. Rin, I recently noticed that Ootori Kanae has clothing style similar to Watatsuki no Toyohime. Do you think Namaniku ATK was inspired by Toyohime when designing Kanae?

I don't think so, mainly because Cage in Lunatic Runagate (where the design with the dress you're thinking of first appeared) came out in 2009

we have a pretty good outline of the design process of kanae's outfit, so we can trace design elements like the belt along it. note the equivalent belt in the uniform designs!

one interesting example of this is namaniku mentioning the open front of kanae's skirt being a choice influenced by the medium, since he wanted to show her legs but knew they'd be offscreen with a long skirt

happy femslash february here's a 30 page oneshot about a barista and a customer. it's a nice and fluffy pre-relationship story that dares to ask: what if a tired office lady ordered the worst coffee every day until her barista went Okay She Needs Help I Have To Intervene.

this oneshot is actually getting expanded and serialized as room for honeys, which will no doubt go into the relationship more, but I also like seeing the original concept. the artist apparently drew the original oneshot in 3 days lmao. I respect that.

Love Only The Body

about | love only the body (lotb) is a yuri manga series, drawn/written by namaniku and published by yurihub. it's established as a manga with r18 themes, though explicit nsfw content is produced as a separate set of pages. the story follows the interactions of togou (left) and sayama (right), two office workers who work at the same company and subsequently became friends w/ benefits due to a natural compatibility.

ship dynamics | tougou as sub, sayama as dom. the entire focus of the story is between how these two navigate life around each other as friends, co-workers and sex partners.

history | lotb originally started out as a set of manga pages on namaniku's twitter that quickly picked up popularity due to the presented dynamic between the two characters. during this time period, the series ran under the name 'a yuri story about a junior i can't stand'; written in japanese, it was subsequently translated by fan translators to english, growing its notoriety on an international basis as well. additional sketches between the couple would also be published by namaniku on twitter over time.

when the concept finally settled on licensing and publishing details, fan translators were asked to stop their work on the project. the series was then translated and published internationally with the aid of yurihub, with a pixiv fanbox created on namaniku's behalf to facilitate sale of the series.

notability | one would think that the concept of love vs lust would be a core theme of the series; if it is so, the manga approaches it rather subtly than pitching our heroines as direct opposites constantly on the issue. there is an acknowledgement between the two characters (and likely hence between the reader and namaniku themselves) that the subject would not be broached with regards to giving parties with either perspectives a comfortable and safe fantasy to enjoy. and while the personalities of either character contrast against each other (foils, anyone?) there is an acceptance of the other's behaviour and mannerisms on the basis of self-values and independency of the individual despite their co-dependent relationship. similar to how queer themes are accepted in variance in recent jp media despite their societal deviances, this manga is willing to give a nod to the same aspect, commentating on the way these queer relationships are forged, developed and maintained.

... so it's good is what i'm saying.
