Am I the only one hoping abraxos’s spirit is somehow related to the House of Wind/Bryaxis and that Nesta is actually a witch descended from Manon whose power was diluted by decades of interbreeding with humans and the cauldron didn’t just imbue her with its power but also awoke the power within her and that’s why she’s still powerful in CC after giving the cauldron’s power back at the end of ACOSF and that’s why the house loves Nesta and/or why Bryaxis was willing to bargain with Feyre for nothing but a window to see the sky where he used to fly, and Cassian is scared of bryaxis because it’s a witch thing and he’s scared of witches?
And the years of dilution cause the eldest daughter to be the only one carrying on the line at this point - like why else is Nesta such a big deal to her mother and grandmother but her sisters aren’t … for no reason? Manon was such a big deal to her elders in the same way because she was the heir. To the Ironteeth Witches and the Crochan Witches. If she had an heir via Diroan, their line would be the natural-born heir to 3 thrones (and SJM loves a good number 3). If Nesta, her mother, and her grandmother were of this line, it would explain their emphasis on not settling for less than a king and ensuring she was raised to rule.
I have yet to see a single theory on anything like this. Am I alone in this theory?

Has sjm ever written a romance that wasn’t a slow burn?
Rhysand x Feyre
Cassian x Nesta
Rowan x Aelin
Aedion x Lysandra
Lorcan x Elide
Chaol x Yrene
Dorian x Manon
Hunt x Bryce
Ruhn x Lidia
Sartaq x Nesryn
The first time we are given Azriel’s POV, he and Elain are already about to kiss. The romance is already burning. This would be the first time SJM has developed a romance between two main characters off page/from the outside looking in.

To celebrate Pride month I give you: SJM characters ranked by level of gayness (this is for fun I know some of these aren’t true but also yes they are)
THE GAYEST 🏳️‍🌈
Eris (gayyyy)
Helion (serving pansexual king)
Cassian (i’m convinced he doesn’t like women and is in love with Rhys and Az)
Amren (should have been a lesbian)
Lysandra (same as above, free her, good luck babe plays in her head when she sleeps next to Aedion and thinks of Aelin)
Dorian (bisexual king literally)
Elide (bi queen)
Mor (in the closet, still? for some reason? I think she’s a lesbian but also maybe bi, she’s lower bc i’m confused)
Chaol (very closeted but still into guys and in love with Dorian)
IT’S GIVING BI 🚲
Lorcan (definitely done some gay stuff, a little in love with Rowan )
Emerie (confirmed bi i’m pretty sure)
Elain (“I don’t want a male” OKAY THEN pick a girl [i’d love for her to run off with Mor] )
Aedion (canon bi boi but he gives such straight frat boy vibes)
Rhysand (I consider him being bi canon tbh he makes too many threesome jokes with Feyre)
Manon (her sexuality is women + Dorian FS)
Nesta (it’s giving Bi but leans towards men)
Bryce (can’t ever convince me her + Danika were just friends, was definitely crushing on Nesta)
Fenrys (he’s giving bi but leans towards gals)
Gwyn (giving vaguely bi curious IDK why)
THE STRAIGHTS 📏
Aelin (I love her but she’s serving up straight girl who makes out with her friends when she’s drunk *cough Ansel/Lysandra cough*)
Rowan (straight but definitely experimented when he was bored)
Ruhn (Straight boi but bi wife energy)
Tharion (such straight frat brother vibes but he’d kiss the homies if they asked)
Azriel (I know this is controversial and I have nothing against Azris but Azriel just gives me such straight vibes. I think he barely stands most men platonically JKWKDKW least gay of the bat boys FS)
Ithan (silly little straight guy)
Lucien (just Straight but ally always)
Lidia (I know I said Ruhn has bi wife energy but I think Lidia is just giving straight ally)
Yrene (straight but very sweet ally)
Feyre (has her moments with Mor but overall such a straight girlie)
Hunt (Idk why he’s just so potently straight to me)

acotar x tog things i love to imagine pt. 3
dorian would be OBSESSED with how cass and az and rhys look (illyrians) and he would shapeshift all the time to look like them. but then cassian would be like “are you BLIND? i do NOT look like that, first of all my wings are WAY bigger” and he would give him exact instructions to shapeshift like him and would tell him to shift to look like rhys but with tiny wings and they would become an absolute nightmare for everyone around.
and manon and nesta would be like “that’s your dumbass?” “yeah, that’s yours?” “yeah”
AND I LOVE IT 😭😭😭

If one person calls Cass, Dorian or Ruhn a himbo though, we’re fighting. As if Dorian isn’t canonically a genuis, Cass isn’t an expert strategist and Ruhn wasn’t raised to rule a kingdom

About Az and his sexual perversions.
I always imagined that I liked one or two different things, nothing much.
And Gwyn has her past, but it doesn't and shouldn't dictate the kind of sex she should have and can't have X because she can only do everything gently.
And the fact that Elain did her first time with her ex-fiancé doesn't make her too experienced or tempted by kinky sex, nor does it say that Az doesn't need to be gentle with her.
For me, Elain and Gwyn can move on from being nice to whatever they want to do with their partners when they feel ready.
They are characters from a book but this thing about She can't because she needs this and that and so on...
Sarah won't match anyone with anyone if they don't match and there's one in the other's way.
I confess that this speech about Az and his sex life and how people treat it makes me want Elain and Gwyn far away from him.
Giving the impression that he can't be kind to anyone and can only be with someone who doesn't even need kindness at any time and has to have a thousand sexual experiences.
I don't even know if you understand, but that's it.
I also think people are making assumptions about what him being a freak in bed means. We have no idea what SJM considers a freak in bed. She could simply mean he uses his shadows in the similar way Dorian used his magic on Manon and really, that's not that freaky. Maybe Az likes to be tied up and that leaves him at Gwyn's mercy. Maybe he's into toes. It's amusing that some automatically jump to Az being the Christian Grey of the ACOTAR series complete with his own red room of pain especially when that would be completely out of character for him in terms of how he treats women. When around Elain he speaks "softly, gently" and "carefully" takes her hand in his own. He was bothered by the treatment his mother received. Yet they assume he's going to get Elain behind closed doors and leave welts on her ass from his flogger? Also, I think some fail to realize that when you break it down, Gwyn and Elain's experiences somewhat parallel one another. Rape is a crime of violence, control and power. Elain was first kidnapped then thrown into the Cauldron: Kidnapping is described as a violent crime of taking away someone against their will, and normally involves holding them in false imprisonment or confining them against their will. Do you know what Cassian said of Nesta being thrown into the Cauldron? "I don't blame her," Cassian said, shrugging despite his words. "She was - violated. Her body stopped belonging wholly to her." Then she was kidnapped a second time (both times had her gagged and bound). Both Elain and Gwyn are victims of being held against their will and having their bodies violated. I realize that some don't relate to Elain's trauma because there is no cauldron in real life but there is kidnapping and having something done to you (regardless of there being a cauldron or not) that is against your will is a violation to your body. Gwyn's trauma was a sexual violation but it's still a violation to her person just as Elain's was. So I'm not sure why some E/riels are convinced that Elain would be fine being held down by someone when that could very well stir up memories of being held down then forced into the Cauldron which led to the loss of everything she loved while being certain that Gwyn wouldn't be alright with it. At the end of the day, we have no idea what preferences any of these characters have but I can guarantee that SJM is not going to write Az as being so insanely kinky that he can't respect the needs of his partner, that he can't be gentle for someone's first time after their trauma (if that's what they desire because again, maybe that's not what THEY want). I guarantee that SJM is not going to write either female as incapable of embracing her sexuality and exploring when it's with the right partner. There's a lot of ridiculous arguments in the fandom but claiming Elain is more suited to Az in bed than Gwyn would be is one of top ones. It's also hysterical how they'll use Gwyn's SA against her, claiming she could never be right for Az while ignoring how we're told cruelty bothers Elain then pairing her off with the IC's torturer who knows how to draw out his work in a "symphony of pain".

The fandom is so lucky to have you! We appreciate having you here and all that you contribute to it ❤️❤️
1. What brought you into the fandom?
2. What character(s) do you feel the most connected to and why?
3. Out of all of SJM’s books, which one means the most to you and why?
4. Out of all of the SJM couples (fanon, canon, endgame, etc) which one means the most to you and why?
Keep doing you ❤️
Aw, thanks anon! That’s really kind.
1. Reading all the amazing fan fic on AO3 brought me to the fandom. This fandom is so full of talent that it leaves me feeling so grateful! I was inspired to give something back and contribute to it 🩵
2. Eris is my favorite character. I also love Nesta and Lucien. I have a soft spot for Azriel and Cassian. And I need more Emerie and Gwyn— Valkyries up front! For TOG: Manon, Abraxos and the 13. Dorian.
3. Controversial choice, but for ACOTAR: I am going with Silver Flames. Did I agree with everything that went down? Absolutely not. I could write a lot about what I disliked, but I really appreciated getting a fresh POV after so many books in Feyre’s perspective. I loved getting Nesta’s story, and meeting the Valkyries. We got some great Eris moments too. As far as the entire Maasverse: a tie between Empire of Storms and Kingdom of Ash. The 13. Abraxos. Manon. Lysandra on that beach shifting from a sea serpent in EoS…damn.
4. I am a multi-shipper, but an Azris in my heart of hearts. They inspire me like no other, and I write them best. I think there’s something beautiful about two wounded characters healing each other. It’s messy and imperfect but it’s magical too. *Edit to add bc I JUST saw this is SJM and not just ACOTAR (yay reading!) Manon x Dorian are my very first Maasverse loves. Their dynamic is everything.
Thanks for the asks, anon🩵

🚨 Ok, I've got something to SAY about lightsingers!!! 🚨
I know the "are lightsingers evil?"... or even just an easter egg... debate has sent this fandom into a tizzy a few times over. We're not on the ship controversy (pun intended), we're on the SS Earnest & Nerdy Close Reader.
My fave part of my TOG/Complete SJMU reread has been zeroing in on two groups of women/females that have long since itched my brain - priestess and witches... I also yearn for a Manorian book after all these years and I have been waiting for their... "boat hangouts" since I started my TOG reread. IYKYK.
Imagine my surprise when this description of a half dead Manon - a witch, yes, but a half Blackbeak, half Cochran heir, and witch queen - paralleled the one fleeting description we get of Lightsingers from Cassian while he, Nesta, and Azriel hunt for the mask (gotta love Manon's beautiful face casually being referred to as a mask) in the Middle in ACOSF.
Both of these scenes warrant a longer close read with more screengrabs (but I'm tired and have a gnarly cold a I can't kick) because both essentially question what it means to be evil... this is an oversimplification, but whether evil is in your nature or if intent is the deciding factor. But here's the lowdown:
In the ACOSF scene, Cassian literally just described witches, "not the human kind," who live in the bog/Middle before describing Lightsingers. Wow, what a fun coincidence. And when Nesta asks why the Prythian powers that be let the Middle and its creatures live, Cassian basically says that it's not right, or their call, to punish something for doing what it was born to do... unlike the inhabitants of the Prison who earned their spot there and needed to be removed from society and have their considerable powers leashed.
In the EoS scene, Dorian asks Manon (after she makes it clear he looks tasty af) if witches are partially human, to which she replies, "Not in the ways that count." Ok, ominous. Then Dorian remembers that witches have human, Fae, and Valg parts, but that "Valg blood had shaped the witches." But when Dorian asks Manon if she feels more human or Valg, Manon immediately responds saying that both the Valg, and Erawan, are her enemies. Nuance!
Things I think are interesting? Many have brilliantly speculated about Nesta's potential witchiness and her being smack dab in the middle of this big parallel is both very fun and, I suppose, unsurprising. The Dread Trove Mask and the allusion to Manon's beauty being a mask has me 👀 Also for all this talk of "oh no a Lightsinger will lure you and control you against your will..." might some of that lore been wrapped up in what it is the mask can essentially do? Granted it can only raise/control the dead, but that would qualify as "horror" to me. I think Prythian, Midgard, and Erilea are victims of the worst game of telephone ever.
Big picture? Every time a character says "oh yeah, we were taught x was evil," pretty consistently we're learning that was some big ol' Asteri (or whatever they're calling themselves on that planet) propaganda. And Cassian being taught that Lightsingers are evil when, by this reading, they could be very important witches? Well, that would make a lot of sense for someone raised by Illyrians who infamously hate witches (and women). Cassian is, of course, our sweet evolved himbo, but he might not know some myths he's always believed were fake news.
Anyway, this deserves a nice, long investigation, but my brain is already succumbing to NyQuil and my IQ is dropping by the second.
I leave you with this moving quote from Manon #growth
