Do you plan on posting about any other Jewish hockey players?
I’m not quite sure what you mean so hopefully this answers your question:
This blog was started like a week ago, so there isn’t too much content on it yet. In addition to that, here is a list of all the current(ish) nhl players I am aware of that are Jewish: Mike Brown, Jeff Halpern, Jason Zucker, Eric Nystrom, Trevor Smith, Zach Hyman, Mike Cammalleri, Josh Ho-Sang, Brendan Leipsic, David Warsofsky, and Jason Demers (although I’m not sure if he considers himself Jewish or not, he only recently found out about his Jewish heritage but I think that’s pretty neat, especially when you consider that Judaism is uhhh dying out, for lack of a better phrase). So like..that’s not a ton of people.
I do intend to include women in hockey but gimme a little bit of time, if you think it’s hard to find relevant info about Jewish nhl players then man do I have some news for you about woho
There is always going to be more content of Zach Hyman just because of the sheer number of leafs fans on tumblr, plus he’s a super accomplished player and person in general. Uhh Brendan Leipsic is such a cutie and I think lgvk fans love him lots, Josh Ho-Sang is SUCH an amazing player who is really unapologetic about so many things and he represents something we don’t see a lot of in hockey (diversity lmao) so there’s a lot of content surrounding him too. Jason Zucker is in the same boat, he’s a fan fave and also I love him.
I’m aware that it’s a pretty small niche I got goin here but I hope to keep everyone interested and I definitely do want to post about as many Jewish hockey players (and fans!) as possible so if you (or anyone else for that matter) have any recommendations or even posts that you’ve made yourself, I would love to share them here!
Edit: Jakob Chychurn, Nick Schmaltz, and Luke Kunin are also Jewish I forgot to (or didn’t know to) include them oops

Edmonton Oilers Trade Jussi Jokinen to LA Kings for Michael Cammalleri
[ad_1] The Edmonton Oilers have traded ahead Jussi Jokinen to the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for ahead Michael Cammalleri, for each Nick Kypreos. Both equally Jokinen and Cammalleri signed one-year bargains with their respective teams this offseason, and in a unusual move, both the Oilers and Kings have deemed it worthwhile to swap the duo in hopes that a adjust of landscapes allows them out.

NHL free agent signings 2017: Tracking all the contracts
Keep track of all the free agency signings this offseason right here.
The NHL’s last big date of the offseason has passed — the start of free agency on July 1. While the news has slowed down after the rush to sign free agents on Saturday, there will likely be a lot of signings from here on out.
To help you keep track of everything this summer, we have put all the free agency signings in one place! So, when Kevin Shattenkirk inevitably goes home to New York — which he did —- or when Jarome Iginla goes to yet another contender to try to win a Stanley Cup — which has not happened yet — you can see all the deals made right in one spot.
Not only that, we’ll update this all summer long. Yes, even in the doldrums of the offseason we will have you covered.
Regardless, July 1 will likely have a plethora of signings to keep you on your toes. The expansion draft and entry draft were quite clinical, so someone’s got to make a big splash on Saturday, right?

How growth place a damper on cost-free agency

How growth place a damper on cost-free agency
While cost-free agency can often be explained as hockey’s Christmas in July, this 12 months some followers, groups and cost-free agents identified a lump of coal in their stockings.
The to start with growth draft in 17 a long time, an nearly flat income cap, a rather skinny cost-free-agent course and players picking competitiveness more than compensation all led to a reasonably tame July one.
“It truly is a distinctive situation. I’m not sure you happen to be heading to see too a great deal like that again,” mentioned Ryan Miller, a goaltender who signed with the Anaheim Ducks in portion to be closer to his spouse, actress Noureen DeWulf, who has been living in Los Angeles with their toddler son.
The Rangers landed the biggest fish when defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk agreed to a hometown low cost, and the Predators and Stars had amazing hauls, but foreseeable future Hall of Famer Jaromir Jagr is nonetheless on the lookout for a landing place.
With his new eight-12 months, $a hundred million contract that kicks in right after the 2017-eighteen time, Connor McDavid is the highest-compensated player in the NHL. How extended will he keep that title? Below are the candidates to choose the throne.
The to start with wave of NHL cost-free agency sent dozens of players to new homes, together with some on multiyear bargains that raised eyebrows.
2 Linked
Miller, a Vezina Trophy winner with the Buffalo Sabres, mentioned there was additional motion and uncertainty as a result of the growth draft, in which every single group shed at minimum one particular player. The latest in a sequence of extremely slight increases in the income cap — the ceiling rose just $2 million from 2016-17– also place groups in a bind, together with some leading franchises.
The Chicago Blackhawks, winners of 3 Stanley Cups because 2010, had to trade absent a star, winger Artemi Panarin, along with vital and dependable supporting players in an exertion to develop into cap-compliant. The Presidents’ Trophy-winning Washington Capitals parted strategies with 3 sizeable players throughout cost-free agency, together with “Mr. Game seven,” Justin Williams, and traded forward Marcus Johansson in a cap-dump deal. The Stanley Cup winner Pittsburgh Penguins sustained sizeable losses, such as defenseman Trevor Daley, centre Nick Bonino and 4-time Cup winner Chris Kunitz.
“We are earning a ton of changes. We have some great players — not only from a actively playing level of check out, but a character and management level of check out — who have absent off our group,” mentioned Penguins basic supervisor Jim Rutherford. “Some of those people changes have been dictated by [the] growth draft, by in which men are in their job [and by] cost-free agency.”
A 10 years ago, the Philadelphia Flyers by itself signed two players, Daniel Briere (for eight a long time, $52 million) and Kimmo Timonen (6 a long time, $37.eight million), to contracts that have been additional valuable and lengthier than any deal signed by an unrestricted cost-free agent so much this offseason. The Flyers also inked Scott Hartnell to a 6-12 months, $25.2 million deal.
Those large rate tags arrived throughout an offseason with a reduced cap ceiling. This summer season, winger Alexander Radulov‘s 5-12 months, $31.25 million contract with the Dallas Stars has been the richest for a cost-free agent. Defensemen Kevin Shattenkirk and Karl Alzner, equally previous Capitals, signed bargains spanning 4 and 5 a long time, respectively, every single with a total payout underneath $27 million.

Shattenkirk is extensively viewed as to be the most effective defenseman and maybe the most effective player to have transformed arms. The New York indigenous took a little bit of a hometown low cost to perform for the Rangers, but a huge deal may well not have been out there for him. Alzner, who landed with the Montreal Canadiens, was the subsequent most coveted defenseman on the market place. Though defensemen salaries have risen steadily — see, for case in point, the jaw-dropping bargains Shea Weber and Ryan Suter signed in 2012 — this 12 months they have been plainly curbed by growth.
Most groups went with a seven-three-one protection scheme — seven forwards, 3 defensemen and one particular goalie — that left defensemen such as Marc Methot, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Alexei Emelin and David Schlemko uncovered. All 4 of those people veterans have been drafted by the Vegas Golden Knights and then traded to other franchises, who took gain of a form of topic-to-financing arrangement. Instead than indicator blueliners on the open up market place, groups obtained them at modest trade costs even though retaining the realistic phrases of their existing contracts.
“Vegas had some wonderful chances to acquire some players and use some leverage, which I assume [Vegas GM] George McPhee did a wonderful work of,” mentioned San Jose Sharks GM Doug Wilson, whose group shed Schlemko.
Shattenkirk and Miller have been not the only players to opt for a appealing situation more than the most valuable payday, which further more affected the market place. Though some veterans have weighed significant features right after getting bought out, such as Vincent Lecavalier in 2013, Hartnell hopped on a one particular-12 months, $one million contract with the Nashville Predators. He had played in Nashville previously under GM David Poile and in Philadelphia for present-day Preds coach Peter Laviolette. Nashville utilised the remaining financial savings from the departure of winger James Neal in the growth draft to snatch Bonino absent from Pittsburgh, the Predators’ opponent in the 2017 Stanley Cup Final.
Stars GM Jim Nill — who snagged Radulov, Methot, goalie Ben Bishop and centre Martin Hanzal — mentioned that players are now recognizing cost-free agency as an prospect to figure out their future instead than their income.
“Do you want to go to a great group? Is it the town you want to go? Is it in which your loved ones needs to be? You’ve got got to make a choice for the reason that of every team’s cap situation. They may well have space for you, but it may well not be the most money,” Nill mentioned. “In the conclude, players discover the suitable healthy for in which they want to be and getting the money that they can live with.”
Executives also zeroed in on players who could fill certain roles and diminish positional requires in their lineup, some of which have been developed by the growth draft. Rob Blake — a Hall of Fame defenseman throughout his actively playing job — assumed command of the Los Angeles Kings‘ front office in April. His to start with obstacle was to flip a great possession group into a scoring group even though incorporating pace up front, but Blake was also compelled to glance for an added defenseman right after losing Brayden McNabb in the growth draft. The Kings signed previous Minnesota Wild rearguard Christian Folin to a one particular-12 months, $850,000 contract. They have been able to make only a slight investment decision in their forward corps, a one particular-12 months, $one million deal for veteran Mike Cammalleri.
Soon after losing James Neal in the growth draft and with captain Mike Fisher nonetheless in limbo, the Predators brought back again veteran winger Scott Hartnell on a modest one particular-12 months, $one million contract. AP Photograph/Mark Humphrey
“I you should not know if we would have been centered on a depth defenseman in cost-free agency hadn’t it been for the growth draft,” Blake mentioned. “I do assume that opened up some requires on other groups, for the reason that you get rid of a player off your roster, in our circumstance a really great player.”
A different issue was that a handful of groups created providing extensions to their franchise players who are headed for cost-free agency in 2018 their to start with buy of business enterprise. The Edmonton Oilers signed centre Connor McDavid to an eight-12 months, $a hundred million contract. The Montreal Canadiens locked up goalie Carey Price tag to the tune of $84 million more than eight seasons. The Ducks laid to relaxation any rumors surrounding defenseman Cam Fowler by doling out $52 million more than eight a long time.
Fowler, like Nill, regarded that the growth draft had an impression on past season’s maneuvers as effectively as this offseason’s, together with equally the entry draft, in which Vegas held additional selections than any other group, and cost-free agency. Though Fowler was happy to choose a main stage towards actively playing his full job with one particular group, he also recognized how quite a few of his contemporaries have been affected by the upheaval surrounding growth.
“You surely observed some groups earning some moves that they really a great deal just had to do in buy to safeguard the main of their group,” Fowler mentioned. “So, of course that’s heading to have type of a ripple influence during the league.”
