Errol Flynn (1909-1959).
Australian actor.
.
He was an Australian-born American actor during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Considered the natural successor to Douglas Fairbanks, he achieved worldwide fame for his romantic swashbuckler roles in Hollywood films. Flynn also stirred controversy for his reputation as a womaniser and hedonistic personal life.
.
When Robert Donat dropped out of the title role in the expensive adventure film Captain Blood (1935), Warner took a chance on Flynn, thereby assuring stardom for him. The film also featured newcomer Olivia de Havilland, and the two actors subsequently made a number of popular films together.
.
Typecast as a dashing fearless adventurer, Flynn went on to star in colourful costume dramas. The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938) was arguably his most successful film and the one for which he is best known.
.
Almost as soon as he arrived in Hollywood, Flynn established a reputation as an irrepressible drinker, carouser, and womanizer. In 1942 he was charged with the statutory rape of two teenaged girls, but he was acquitted as a result of the flamboyant legal maneuvers of his attorneys. Nevertheless, his image was severely tarnished.
.
In his later Hollywood films he appeared haggard, distracted, and far older than his years. He also lost a great deal of money in a variety of ill-advised business ventures and headed to Europe in hopes of revitalizing his career.
.
Returning to America in 1956, he enjoyed a brief resurgence of movie popularity. In these films he played a wasted self-destructive drunkard, and some critics suggested that he was not acting.
He also hosted an Anglo-American television anthology, The Errol Flynn Theater (1956–57), the nature of which allowed him to display a hitherto untapped versatility.
.
He was married 3 times: Lili Damita (1935); Nora Eddington (1943); Patrice Wymore (1950). He had 4 children.
In poor health after years of hard living, Flynn died at the age of 50.
.
Famous movies:
Captain Blood
The Adventures of Robin Hood
The Sea Hawk
The Charge of the Light Brigade
The Prince and the Pauper

Mid-Year Book Freak Out Tag 2021
I keep seeing this tag being done on YouTube, I wanted to try it on Tumblr (dunno why but enjoy)
1. Best book you've read so far in 2021:
Native Tongue by Suzette Haden Elgin- I cannot describe how much I love this book
2. Best sequel you've read so far in 2021:
At first, I was like ...no... I haven't read any sequels... but I have in fact read many sequels. I don't think any particular sequel was really good but here is a list of sequels I read, to prove I did in fact read sequels:
Mistress Pat - Sequel to Pat of Silver Bush by L.M. Montgomery
Siege and Storm - sequel to Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo
Dragons in the Water - sequel to The Arm of the Starfish by Madeleine L'Engle (ACTUALLY this is defiantly the best sequel I've read)
Crossed - sequel to Matched by Ally Condie
Emily Climbs - sequel to Emily of New Moon by L.M. Montgomery (this may be a close second to best sequel)
3. New Release you haven't read yet, but want to:
Girl One by Sara Flannery Murphy
4. Most anticipated release for the 2nd half of the year:
I don't know..... I think the only release I know about is The Becoming by Nora Roberts which is a sequel to The Awakening which I was pretty indifferent about. I might read it if it has good reviews tho
5. Biggest disappointment:
The Giver of Stars - This was a gift from someone and I really wanted to enjoy it because of that but when I was finished I just couldn't understand why they thought I would like it.
6. Biggest surprise:
I honestly can't think of any
7. Favourite new author (to you or debut):
Suzette Haden Elgin, Josephine Tey, and/or Leigh Bardugo
8. Newest fictional crush:
Adam Eddington from the Austin Family Chronicles and O'Keefe Trilogy by Madeleine L'Engle- dude, I think I don't have a type until I look at the fictional crushes, and then it incredifeakingly obvious I do in fact have a type
9. Newest favorite character:
Emily Starr from the Emily of New Moon Trilogy by L.M. Montgomery - idk if this really counts because I read Emily of New Moon in December 2020... but I read the rest of the trilogy in 2021!!
10. Book that made you cry:
A Ring of Endless Light by Madeleine L'Engle - I don't think I actually shed tears but it made me sad
11. Book that made you happy:
Sanditon and The Watsons -These were just all around good vibes
12. Most beautiful book you've bought so far this year (or received):
Death on the Nile by Agatha Christie - I've already read this and literally only bought it cause the book was GORGEOUS
13. What books do you need to read by the end of the year?
Hoo boy that is a list in of itself to be continued I guess

“In like Flynn” part 2 One ironic detail which should be mentioned is during the trial, Flynn had spent court recesses flirting with Nora Eddington, age 18, who worked at a snack bar within the municipal building. Flynn, who was never shy about expressing himself, explained: “I carefully checked her age. She was eighteen, safe ground. Her name, it turned out, was Nora Eddington. What I didn’t know was that her father was Captain Jack Eddington of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office.” After getting her pregnant and fearing further scandal, Flynn married Nora in August, 1943. She was age 19 to his 34. But Errol, ever the rapscallion, had to go out with an inappropriately younger bang: at the age of 50, he met and fell in love with a fifteen year old whom he planned to marry and with whom he planned to move to Jamaica. Very, very unfortunately, Errol died of a heart attack in 1959 before this plan could come to fruition. Although moralists may despise Errol Flynn for his caddish, inappropriate and downright sexist behavior, he never expressed any regrets for his many flaws. As Flynn was fond of saying, “I like my scotch old and my woman young.” #destroytheday (throwback post from 6/8/14)
