Like many avid campers, I know that the way to beat the heat when camping in summer is to go coastal. It’s great to catch that beautiful afternoon sea breeze in the tent while looking at the waves break on the shore. In a last-minute bid to feel that friday freedom, I jumped on Google Maps. I have been north of Sydney many times and have many wonderful memories of my trips there. But what lay south that I could get to within a few hours?
I ran my finger down the coast and stumbled across North Head Beach. A tiny cove just north of Batemans Bay, surrounded by Murramarang National Park. This place immediately ticked the boxes for a young adventurous family.
About three hours south of Sydney, this place is close to the small town of Durras and can be accessed by any 2 wheel drive car.
Camping at North Head Campground meant we were just 100m from the beach.
Camping at Murramarang National Park
North Head Beach is part of the Murramarang National Park and entry is free. We stayed at the North Head Beach campsite, which has allocated camping that varies in size. This means if you get there early enough, you can fit up to 3 families in one plot. Spaces are also capable of allowing camper trailers and small caravans (though going there mid-week will offer more choice). Toilets are also available at the site just a short walk away. But most importantly, access to the beach is less than 100m away.
I chose to leave a little earlier on Friday to beat the traffic and arrive at the campsite early afternoon. After a quick setup, the kids and I chose a bush access track direct from our camp to the beach.
Our camp all set up for our stay.
Wildlife in the area
I was pleased to see that the wildlife was abundant and seemed to be flourishing in the area. There were many different varieties of birds and insects for the kids to see. We also spotted several lace monitors in the distance, and schools of Australian salmon busting up on the ocean’s surface. The evenings at the campsite brought out other nocturnal critters as well, such as possums and tawny frogmouth owls.
Swimming at the beach
The beach itself was paradise, like something out of a David Attenborough film. The place was nearly deserted with only a couple on the far end of the beach. There was only a small swell, which was perfect for my two young children – all the swimming, body boarding and sand castles you could throw a stick at. After we watched the sun dip over the horizon, we headed back for dinner.
Because we are a modern family, I brought our battery powered outdoor theatre projector for some evening entertainment. The kids were treated to a campfire and a movie, which was the perfect end to our day at the beach.
There are so many things to do at the beach, making it perfect for a young family.
Walks and other activities
Phone service is available and after some more investigation from the comfort of my swag, I learned there was a beautiful walk from the top of the campsite, which took us to some northern cliff lines. After breakfast, we walked up and were treated to a sunrise I would never forget. I was lucky to capture all this beauty on my drone and now we have another little family video we can look back on.
More swimming and body boarding as the day wore on, and we all had a relaxing afternoon nap thanks to the cool coastal breeze in the area.
I discovered that there were some scenic walks to do in the area.
Heading to Batemans Bay for fishing
Now, you should know the actual area is a marine park and you would need to head north or south if you wanted to fish. But that is only ever a short drive away. So we headed into Batemans so my eldest son and I could wet a line. South coast NSW has always been able to boast great fishing. You might be able to catch everything from offshore marlin and tuna right through to massive flathead.
We nipped down to Batemans Bay a short distance away for some fishing.
Evenings at the campsite
As this place is a national park, people tend to be more respectful of each other, so the evenings that we spent in the area were very peaceful. The campsites were also quite well spaced, which allowed plenty of privacy for our family. The tracks in and out are well worn and the walking trails are maintained and in good condition. If you are just looking for a day pass for a shorter trip, there is also parking at the main beach access point.
Campfires and firewood
There is plenty of fallen timber available for firewood. Just remember to check for local fire bans. I always take a good quality bush saw for wood collection, as you are not permitted to use chainsaws or generators in national parks.
We set up a little outdoor cinema with a campfire at our campsite as a treat for the kids.
Packing for your trip & supplies in the area
To maximise your enjoyment I’d recommend packing light and simple. If you forget to bring something it’s only a short drive to South Durras or Batemans Bay to pick up supplies for the weekend. Personally, I pre-pack the car Thursday night soon after I finish work, so all I have to do is pick up the family and some goods for the fridge and we can hit the road.
For a weekend away, this place ticks all the boxes.
Why this spot should be on your list
Places like this are ideal as they are far enough away from Sydney’s hustle and bustle, but not too far that the children complain about “how long before we get there?”
Murramarang National Park is just a stone’s throw away from secluded spots like North Head Beach, making it perfect for a refreshing weekend getaway. There are tracks to explore, rocks to climb and the most beautiful waters in which to swim.
So, check the weather, pack your swimmers and I promise you’ll be congratulating yourself on visiting this little gem.
What’s your favourite secluded getaway? Let us know in the comments.

Here in Victoria we are again necessarily forced to be in another state lockdown in this increasingly infectious and deadly COVID-19 Global Pandemic. However this time in Victoria we are in a necessary state lockdown to quickly and completely contain the severity of the extremely strong COVID-19 Coronavirus Lineage B1.617.1 Variant, that has already horrifyingly and so quickly caused so many COVID-19 Coronavirus infections and deaths in India alone. As the extremely strong mutating COVID-19 Coronavirus Lineage B1.617.1 Variant in India, has rapidly infected more people in India now than the population of Australia. With over 27 million people in India now being infected with the deadly COVID-19 Coronavirus, and an average of more than 250,000 new COVID-19 Coronavirus cases occurring in India every day, with a contact infection rate of 90% now frightfully occurring from this extremely strong COVID-19 Coronavirus Lineage B1.617.1 Variant. And the COVID-19 Coronavirus Lineage B1.617.1 Variant has an unprecedented rapid death rate. With two people dying in India every minute from this specific and extremely deadly COVID-19 Coronavirus Lineage B1.617.1 Variant, that has now quickly killed more than 300,000 people in India. And now that extremely infectious and deadly COVID-19 Coronavirus Lineage B1.617.1 Variant is here in Victoria, where it has already rapidly spread to over 150 exposure sites, and where if it is not stopped it will continue to spread and infect, and also terrifyingly mutate into an even more stronger strain of the already extremely infectious and deadly COVID-19 Coronavirus Lineage B1.617.1 Variant here in Victoria , and then spread and infect people nationally and then globally, unless it is now necessarily contained and stopped here in the State Of Victoria. So we now need to completely necessarily close Australia's international borders, as we unfortunately now necessarily have to temporarily suspend all repatriation flights of returning Australians coming to Australia. Until here in each Australian state and territory, we can now necessarily quickly build purpose built quarantine facilities for repatriating Australians. And the temporary suspension of repatriation flights into Australia is a difficult decision to now have to make. But it is a necessary decision that must be made in order to protect the health and safety and lives of Australians, and to prevent continually reoccurring lockdowns, like Victoria is now once again back in. And at the start of last year when the COVID-19 Global Pandemic was declared, many countries globally told their citizens that they had to either return immediately, or they would have to wait until the COVID-19 Global Pandemic ended. For example the Melbourne CBD apartment I am now living in only became available because the previous tenant had to break their lease and leave here at the start of the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. Because at the start of last year, their Asian country of origin gave them the necessary ultimatum, where they were told by their Asian country of citizenship, that they would have to return immediately to their Asian country of citizenship, or they would have to wait until the COVID-19 Global Pandemic ended. So now as an example, making this necessary decision to tell citizens globally that are living overseas, that they need to immediately return to their country of citizenship if they want to, or they will have to otherwise wait until a global pandemic ends, now needs to become part of both a national and global rule book in the outbreak of any future global pandemics. And unfortunately Australian international borders must remain closed until mid-2022. And obviously it would be great if Australia could open its international borders at the start of 2022, including to allow international students back into Australia, so they can start studying again here in Australia at the beginning of next year. Thank-You From Adam Shane Lawes.

These are the 2020 World Press Photo nominees
World Press Photo has announced the nominees for its 63rd annual photography contest. Started in 1955, this annual contest celebrates the most powerful stories from the world of visual journalism. The contest received entries from 4,282 photographers from 125 countries who entered a total of 73,996 images this year.
Entries were judged by an independent jury of 17 photo professionals who are charged with selecting the best pictures from the year. It’s no surprise that this year protest photography and environmental stories played a large role. Ultimately, the judges selected 44 photographers from 24 countries to become nominees. In 2019 World Press Photo debuted a new category called Story of the Year which focuses on a sequence of images about a single issue or event, rather than a single frame.
The nominees for Story of the Year are:

Six photographers have been shortlisted for Photo of the Year, they are:

The winners of World Press Photo will be announced in April during the World Press Photo Festival in Amsterdam. Winners of Story of the Year and Photo of the Year will be awarded a 10,000 euro prize. In addition to these top nominations, the jury has nominated three single images and three stories across eight categories: Contemporary Issues, General News, Environment, Nature, Long-Term Projects, Portraits, Spot News and Sports. We’ve highlighted some of our favorites below, more work from the nominees can be found on the World Press Photo site.

Top 10 Ultimate Camping Escapes near Sydney!
New Post has been published on https://www.4wdsupacentre.com.au/news/top-10-ultimate-camping-escapes-near-sydney/
Top 10 Ultimate Camping Escapes near Sydney!
If you are looking for somewhere amazing to go camping this weekend, here are the top 10 campsites within a couple of hours from Sydney. From family friendly camping to cracking boys trips. Campsites on the blacktop to hardcore 4WD destinations. Every single one of these campsites can be found on the VMS Touring700HDX.
  #10 Burralow Creek Camping Ground
Incredible free campsite less than an hour from home!
Search for ‘Burralow Creek Camping Area’ near Lithgow on VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
Open Sprawling, grassy campground makes the list as it is less than an hour from home offers Sydney based campers a huge amount of wide-open space, and clean and tidy facilities like drop toilets and permanent fire pits.
Leave the caravan at home for this campsite location though, the track in is rough, rocky and steep 4WDing tracks, standard 4WD vehicles driven with care will easily gain access, but LOW range gearing is a must for the climb out, particularly when the conditions are damp. This spot is perfect for larger groups thanks to its sprawling open grassy campsites under the gumtrees, but because it is in the national park there are no dogs allowed and collecting firewood is prohibited.
  #9 Tattersall’s Camping Area (Karuah)
Cracking boys fishing trip campsite!
Search for ‘Tattersall’s Camping Area’ near Newcastle in VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
This has to be the perfect boys trip destination, it is isolated and rugged bush camping with heaps of room for a campfire and big groups along with sensational fishing right on the edge of your Adventure Kings Swag, located just 30 minutes north of Newcastle, it is a rippa of a bush campsite, with only basic facilities, you might want to bring your own amenities, like a Kings 20L Portable Camping Toilet.
Access is off ‘The Buckets Way” with approximately 5km of gravel roads, but be aware it can get boggy after a bit of rain, so don’t forget your recovery gear.
What this destination lacks in facilities it makes up for in isolation, if you want to crank your music and get the fire roaring with your mates, then this is the place for your next camp, plenty of space to spread out, and even a high tide dirt boat ramp for dropping in the tinny!
    #8 Gap Creek Camping Area
Camp amongst a genuine freshwater waterfall just outside of Newcastle!
Search for ‘Gap Creek Camping Area’ near Newcastle in VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
The perfect place to take the family for an incredible experience of the best the Aussie bush has to offer.
A couple of hours out of Sydney & about 45 mins out the back of Newcastle, and you are in  the middle of a proper rainforest, how EPIC is that. With easy access via 2WD friendly graded dirt roads, the only issue with access would be smaller campsites with tight access ways which are unsuitable for larger caravans.
With excellent toilet blocks, a couple of concrete pads for caravanners, permanent fire pits, and FREE gas Barbeques, you would expect to pay for the privilege of staying here, but the best part is that there are NO CAMPING FEES here. Amazing facilities, incredible views and some of the most rewarding bushwalks you will ever do, directly from your campsite, it’s the perfect campsite to escape with your family, you are going to love it!
  #7 Blacksmiths Beach (Belmont)
A full blown beach camping you can’t miss, only half an hour south of Newcastle!
Enter a waypoint at E151°41’12.5” S33°01’13.6” into VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions to entry gate.
4WD’s ONLY, You will need to air your 4WD tyres all way down to 16psi to avoid getting bogged on the notoriously soft sand.
You can actually drive nearly the whole length of the beach, from Swansea in the south, to Belmont in the north, for a bit of fun on the way to camp and leave the camper trailer at home unless you are a highly experienced 4WDer. Just two hours from Sydney and you are camping right on the beach, the only downside is there are NO FACILITIES HERE, and you are exposed to the brunt of a storm if a strong southerly hits, but when the weather is good, camping at Blacksmiths beach is simply UNMATCHED!
You do require a permit for access to beach driving and camping but these can be bought from a local service station, this is one location that should be experienced by EVERY 4WDer at some stage!
  #6 Wild Bull Camping Area
This location is further away from Sydney but is worth making a long weekend trip out of it.
Search for ‘Wild bull Camping Area’ near Port Macquarie in VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
Wild bull Campgrounds are located in Kippara, which is out the back of Wauchope, and is one of the best fresh water swimming holes you will find anywhere, plus it has excellent clean facilities that wont cost you a cent.
The fresh water swimming here, rivals ANYTHING in the Northern Territory, this spot has been a local secret for years, and thanks to sustainable logging in the area there are plenty of funds to maintain these grounds without costing you a cent in camping fees. The campgrounds here do have bollards blocking them in, meaning this location is ideal for swags and tents, as camping is forbidden in the carpark. A warm weekend will see you swimming in the crystal clear water for hours, plan your visit for a couple of weeks after a good rain has flushed out the swimming holes, and remember to bring your snorkel! #5 Ganyamalbaa Camping Area – Stockton Beach
Stockton beach is world famous for being a coastal beach driving location, right in the heart of Newcastle, but back in 2012 camping was banned seemingly ending decades of travel. Enter a waypoint at E151°50’37.5” S32°49’02.3” into VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions to entry gate.
Stockton Beach has earned its reputation for some of the best sand driving in Oz and the ability to get up close and personal with some of the biggest dunes in Australia in your 4WD.
Happily we can report that you can now camp back on Stockton beach again! Ganyamalbaa Camping Area is a stretch of 26 predefined camping areas, nestled right in the forward dunes in the southern section of Stockton Beach.
You can drive the 32Km length of the beach from top to bottom, chuck in a fishing line or kick back and enjoy the sunset over the dunes.
These campsites area rigidly controlled, with a maximum of 2 cars and 8 people for each site, with online prebooking being essential, and you MUST bring your own camping toilet like the Adventure Kings 20L Portable Camping Toilet. Whilst these might seem like a minor inconvenience to some, it doesn’t really matter because now we can all still get out and camp right on Stockton beach again!
  #4 Coorongooba Campground    6:21-
This gem takes us out west, about one hour out the back of Lithgow, with only one word to describe this spot in Wollomi National Park…. Stunning!
Enter a waypoint at E150°19’11.2” S33°07’20.6” into VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
This Beautiful massive open grassy campsite has impressive amounts of space to spread out, some of the best camping facilities we’ve ever seen at any campsite, and breathtaking scenery. You will be camping amongst all the locals with plenty of friendly kangaroo’s eager to say G’day at happy hour! Coupled with plenty of easy bushwalks offering incredible scenery, and a shallow river nearby, perfect for paddling in after a bit of rain! All of this is located just a couple of hours out of Sydney, and is truly a next level campsite you MUST visit this camping season, and thanks to its slightly further proximity from Sydney, it’s often much more quiet when other sites are packed!
#3 Swans Crossing Camping & Picnic Area
3 hours north of Sydney, this is one of the most family friendly campsites we’ve ever camped at.
Search for ‘Swans Crossing’ near Port Macquarie in VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
This well kept location is another forestry NSW maintained campsite, and features massive sprawling green grass campgrounds, and boasts amazing facilities such as toilet blocks, rainwater tanks, undercover picnic areas, permanent fire pits, and a fully fledged kids playground. Only 20 minutes off the highway, and you have the best family campsite you will ever come across and it is entirely FREE, and sits approximately half way between Sydney and Brisbane, making it the perfect stopover point to break up the drive!
There is a beautiful creek just by the campsite, perfect for a dip on those scorching days, and access is easy even for 2WD’s along the regularly graded roads, earning 3rd place on our list!
#2 Newnes Campground. The perfect campground to take the family to, this campsite has excellent facilities, EPIC scenery and plenty of things to see and do and only just north west of Lithgow.
Search for ‘Newnes Camping Area’ near Lithgow in VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
The camping here is superb, with plenty of space, abundant wildlife, but the Newnes area is dripping with history and even a bush museum in the middle nowhere, that will keep the whole family, young and old entertained for hours.
For hot days, there is even a freshwater creek with sandy riverbanks perfect for taking the edge off!
Access is via Lithgow on easy graded roads, with plenty of room for camper trailers and caravans. No dogs or collecting firewood, as it is part of the beautiful Wollomi National park, but the best thing about it is that it is 100% free to stay here!
#1 Mungo Brush Camping & Picnic Area The single best bit of summer camping we have ever done – Just a couple of hours north of Sydney this spectacular location has EVERYTHING!
Enter a waypoint at E152°18’37.3” S32°32’38.2” into VMS On-Road Navigation for turn by turn directions.
It doesn’t get much better than this, Mungo Brush has toilet blocks, free gas barbeques, and sheltered picnic areas, and a concrete boat ramp offering instant access to the stunning Myall Lakes. This spot does get busy, so definitely book ahead to secure a space. But it is certainly worth it with the lake lapping at your campsite and the beach just 500m away, you don’t even need to leave the blacktop to get to Mungo Brush! A family of 5 would expect to pay up to around $40 a night, it certainly isnt the cheapest site around, but this is a true bucket list campsite, offering life long memories, and has earned our #1 spot on the top 10 Ultimate camping escapes from Sydney!

Building a House in the Hunter Region
Life in the Hunter region can be great. Land prices are in line with regional real estate, but it offers a delicate balance of city traits – wine bars, concerts, a world-class university, excellent coffee, multiple art galleries and some fantastic restaurants.
Building in the Hunter
Purchasing land in the Hunter is a wise investment. But what sort of land have you got? Knowing your block will help you determine what kind of home you should build on it.
Study a topographic map of your property and get to know what you’ve bought. Identify flat areas that may be good for laying the foundation, as well as areas that will need to be cleared of rocks or debris. Establish your boundaries, have your land evaluated and clear the land if it needs clearing.
There are several factors you need to consider before building a house in the Hunter:
Climate
Hunter weather is generally different to that of coastal areas. Temperatures can be higher during day, but cooler and drier at night, with greater risk of frost. This makes the Hunter a hot and dry region, requiring shading, especially on east and west-facing blocks. That said, the more coastal and lower parts of the Upper Hunter region experience a mild subtropical climate with 700mm to 950mm of rainfall on average. This makes some parts of the region hottest and wettest in Australia.
You can learn more about building for climate here.
It’s important your home meets current climate needs to ensure your comfort for years to come. Kitome uses passive design options so that you can take advantage of the climate and not only stay comfortable but reduce heating and cooling bills. Work with your team to survey your land and you can make use of prevalent breezes and the path of the sun.
Slope
The Hunter sub-region is primarily defined by geological features and ridge lines associated with the Hunter, Liverpool and Great Dividing ranges. Several mountain ranges ring the subregion and land surface elevation ranges from sea level to 1241m in East Bluff. Land surface slopes are flat to moderate in the northern parts and relatively rugged in the southern parts.
Soil
The soils of the Hunter region vary widely, from sandy alluvial flats to deep friable loam and friable red duplex soils. In the Upper Hunter, the rivers and creeks of the region contribute to the area’s black loam soils that are often overlaid on top of alkaline clay loam. Among the hills of the Brokenback range are strips of volcanic basalt.
Soil information is important for a number of reasons, such as climate change, soil erosion, acidification and dryland salinity. Soil can make or break a construction project. Soil that changes shape or shifts may not bear the weight of some structures.
Flooding
Floods occur frequently in the region. In fact, according to SES data the Hunter makes up 10% of NSW’s total storm insurance claims.
In an ideal world, no one would build or rebuild in a flood zone, but competition for land means this can’t always be avoided. If building in a flood zone, use resilient materials like steel to minimise potential damage and design your home so that it can dry out quickly in the event of a flood.
Fires
The threat of bushfires is the price to pay for a beautiful bushland location. Maps of fire-prone areas are updated by council periodically and are certified by the NSW Rural Fire Service. If you are lodging your development application after January 2018 you are encouraged to check the latest Bush Fire Prone Map which has changed quite significantly from previous years.
It’s important to remember that bush fire prone land isn’t restricted to land that’s surrounded by bush. Your land may be near grassland, paddocks, a vineyard or near the coast.
Trees and bushland
Urban bushland provides food and habitat for native fauna species. Being sensitive to bushland and trees helps conserve Australian native plants and gives you the chance to be close to flora and fauna.
But you need to consider the impacts of falling branches or even whole trees on your home. This is of particular importance in regions of the Hunter that are prone to storms. If your land has trees you’d like removed, refer to your council’s standards for removing and restricting trees before taking any action.
Water
Water is a precious commodity and it pays to know where it’s coming from. Check to see what water regulations are set by Hunter Water, as well as who is responsible for approving the installation of all new water and sewer services. A development assessment application is not required if you are planning a single residential dwelling on a serviced vacant lot, however assessment of your home plans is still required. When planning a subdivision, flats or units, or if planning a duplex, commercial or industrial building you will need a development assessment.
Local council regulations
Through Local Environmental Plans, Development Control Plans and other policies, councils regulate building and development within the Hunter community. Development Applications can be for land subdivision, commercial, industrial, residential and agricultural land uses.
By seeking approval for your development, council is able to assess each development application on its merits and can:
Implement environmental and community safety objectives
Provide the opportunity for community input
Provide an independent, impartial and objective framework for decision making
Acts in the public interest, at arms lengths from the parties involved.
Having acquired your Development Consent you will then need to get a Construction Certificate to:
Ensure your plans and specifications comply with the requirements of the Building Code of Australia (BCA) and any relevant standard
Certify that the plans are consistent with Development Consent
Certify that all required contributions and fees have been paid
You will need to lodge a Notice of Commencement at least two days prior to commencing works and having appointed a Principal Certifying Authority.
To learn more about local council regulations speak directly with your local council.

TIP! Noisy pipes that make squeaking or hammering sounds are an easy problem to fix. Anchor exposed pipes to get rid of noises.
Once in a while, everyone has a question about plumbing. It is important to have the necessary knowledge to fix plumbing issues yourself instead of calling a professional. This article will give you the information that you need for when those plumbing emergencies arise.
Septic Tank
TIP! Keep your bathtub in good shape by using a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar down its drain monthly. Use a plug or rag to cover the drain, because there will be a chemical reaction in the pipes.
A great tip to use to stop your septic tank from backing up is to make sure you have it pumped at least every five years. Regular maintenance will keep sediment from backing up inside of the tank. Sediment can not only cause the sewage in the tank to back up into your house, but it can cause the tank to fail completely. Pumping a septic tank might cost a lot of money, but it will cost your more money to clean any back up in sewage you may have had, and replacing your septic tank costs even more!!
TIP! If you run your garbage disposal after working in the kitchen, use a large quantity of cold water. The cold water keeps your blades sharp, which helps your disposal run smooth.
If a plunger is ineffective, you might be able to do the trick with a bucket of warm water. You can repeat this procedure once the water returns to a low level.
TIP! Swapping out old shower heads for energy-efficient ones can save you money on the energy bill. Most of your water bills comes from the water you use to shower.
Never try to fix a garbage disposal by putting your hand down into it. Your garbage disposal is a dangerous device, even when turned off. Search online for a troubleshooting manual for your disposal.
TIP! Trash should go in the trash basket, not the toilet. Use the toilet for what it is designed for, and it won’t give you a lot of problems.
To ensure garbage disposal lasts long in your home, be sure you keep it cleaned regularly. Keep your garbage disposal fresh and running by using dish soap, cherry pits and lemon rinds regularly.
TIP! Enzyme-based products are often superior to other options when your drains are clogged. These cleaners turn the sludge into a liquid using natural bacteria, and then the liquid flows out of the pipes.
When replacing your shower head, spend the money on a high-quality model. People usually opt for a cheap shower head instead of a quality product. While it may be cheap, chances are you will have to replace it sooner, as it’s more likely to break sooner.
Enzyme Based
TIP! Frozen pipes can do very extensive and expensive damage. Fortunately, it’s usually an avoidable problem.
Use a cleaner that is enzyme based if you want to clean clogged pipes. Enzyme based cleaners use “good” bacteria to transform the clog into a liquid, which will remove it from pipes. Enzyme cleaners are efficient and will not damage your pipes.
TIP! If there’s grout stuck inside your line, it’s most likely will be a losing cause if you try to fix it all by yourself. You can try to break up the grout and send it further down.
Be sure to clean your dryer’s lint trap. This is a good idea for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is fire safety. Be sure you inspect your lint trap for tears or holes that could mean lint is going into your pipes, which can cause clogs and issues.
TIP! Don’t run the water while putting food through your garbage disposal. Many people make the mistake of thinking that a disposal can handle anything as long as they have water running when they turn it on.
If you have frozen pipes that can be a very costly repair. However, this problem can be prevented. The first step is to check your outside pipes and ensure they are well insulated. Before winter hits, turn off the water to the outside faucet and drain and store all of your hoses. Be proactive about this and save on future repair bills.
TIP! Sometimes, the plumber is chosen by an insurance company without your input, but you can look them up online anyway. Even if your insurer determines your plumber, you should go to their website and read any available consumer reviews to reinforce your faith in their abilities.
When you have to take out the clean out plug, but it is not coming out, you can remove it using one of two ways. One way is to make the fitting looser with a hammer and chisel. If the plug itself is expendable, chiseling it into pieces and extracting them can work, too.
TIP! Thoroughly check out a plumber’s skills, licensing and references before hiring them. A plumber that is not skilled in a particular task could actually aggravate the problem.
As the weather is becoming colder due to the coming of winter, be sure that your external faucets do not have leaks or drips. If you find a problem, you need to move quickly to repair it, lest the faucet crack. Pipes that are made of copper, steel, or plastic are vulnerable to cracking when water freezes and increases the pressure. Even a small crack can cause a lot of damages to your home.
TIP! Be certain that your toilet does not leak. To check, squeeze a few food coloring drops in the toilet tank.
Plumbing can be a nightmare, because it can cause a lot of damage to a home. By only knowing one thing, this nightmare can be avoided. The secret to sparing your home damage from it’s own water, is being aware of just where you can find the water register, and have the knowledge required to cut it off with haste.
You need to be educated before something happens. Regular maintenance can also prevent small plumbing issues from becoming serious emergencies. Use this advice for any future plumbing needs.

BREAKING: Bushfire Emergency Near Kurri Kurri | RFS
Crews are working to get control of the fire at Cessnock. NSW RFS advised those whose properties were under threat to seek shelter and protect themselves from the heat. The findings: Patients with stage IIIb/IIIc or stage IV melanoma at high risk of recurrence following complete surgical resection had greater recurrence-free survival with adjuvant nivolumab compared to adjuvant ipilimumab. Firefighters had back-burned overnight but strong winds and hot weather has forced the RFS to upgrade the severity of the blaze.
The RFS has ensured lower fuel prices, a stronger rural America, and cleaner air. NSW Rural Fire Service recommends the following. The NSW Rural Fire Service has said properties around Leggetts Drive, Orchid Road, Whitebridge Road and Richmond Vale Road may be at risk.To continue this progress, we need Congress behind us. The fire has been burning at Richmond Vale, between Mulbring and Kurri Kurri, since Tuesday.
The RFS is a national policy requiring a certain volume of renewable fuel to replace or reduce the quality of petroleum-based transportation fuel, heating oil or jet fuel. After a median follow-up of 2.8 years, the three-year relapse-free survival rate with dabrafenib and trametinib was 58 percent, compared with 39 percent for placebo.Crews from the RFS and Fire & Rescue NSW will be ready to respond to any new outbreaks should they occur, including calling in aircraft assistance. Total fire bans are in place across large swathes of northern and eastern NSW as hot and windy conditions keep firefighters on alert. People in the area of Stanford Merthyr were asked to monitor conditions, and if planning to leave were urged to leave immediately. Under severe and very high fire conditions, well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety during a fire.

As America's gun massacres, with 316 people being shot every day in gun crimes in America, and the extreme difficulty in changing their gun laws, is because of the inherent problem that is inherited from the extreme difficulty in not being able to when necessary continually be able to update a country's constitution. For as the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution states: "A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." However the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution stating the right of Americans to own guns for a "well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State" has been used to do the exact opposite this year in the armed storming of the United States Capitol in an armed insurrection by Donald Trump's American political supporters to prevent the democratically elected President Joe Biden from becoming the President Of The United States Of America. And the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution has also resulted in 316 people being shot in gun crime in America daily. So after the Port Arthur Gun Massacre in Tasmania, lets make sure our strict gun laws that are now necessarily in place in Australia, are not relaxed and undone, as we do not want to end up with the same crisis as the United States Of America's gun control problem. And after the Port Arthur Massacre in Tasmania happened, where I had been holidaying for three months, and then I booked my Spirit Of Tasmania boat ticket to leave to live here in Melbourne, Victoria the week before the Port Arthur Massacre in Tasmania happened, and I left that following week after the Port Arthur Gun Massacre to live here in Melbourne, Victoria, then that same year the genesis of the Melbourne Mafia Gangland War then happened. And as I stated and now emphasise, we do not want organised crime in Australia's largest corporation, which is Woolworths Group Australia. And the corporate criminal fraud of Woolworths Group Australia is also the cause of so many health and safety violations, including making me work three hours a day unpaid, and 10 hour to 12 hour shifts without meal breaks or toilet breaks, and also being illegally made to work unpaid shifts on my nights off, when I worked for Australia's largest corporation Woolworths Group Australia. And when I tried to stop the drunken violent alcoholic staff when I worked for Woolworths Group Australia, including after being continually verbally and physically assaulted by them. The Woolworths Group Australia alcoholic employees lied about me, including by using an illegal phone voice recording that they had made, where they twisted the legal soft drink coke/coca-cola that I was legally drinking at work, to the illegal drug coke/cocaine, so I was forcefully physically escorted out of the store and permanently banned from the Woolworths Group Australia store and terminated. And the Woolworths Group Australia alcoholics also got a female employee to say I threw a heavy wooden pallet at her to try discredit me and have me criminally charged, however I was fortunately saved by a recently fixed surveillance camera that they had broken, and that they were going to try frame me with, which if it had not of been fixed without the Woolworths Group Australia alcoholics knowing, I would have been criminally charged for a crime that I did not commit. And then Australia's largest corporation Woolworths Group Australia then tried to frame me for being involved with a physically dead organised crime hitman murderer who was shot and killed at La Porchella restaurant near their Woolworths Group Australia Carlton store at a time when I was working in the city for the government as a public servant. And Woolworths Group Australia and whoever criminally assisted them, then tried to physically murder me with a poisoned vegetarian pizza that I ate at work. Thank-You From Adam Shane Lawes.

TIP! Check your floors for softness around toilets, so that you can ascertain if there is any floor damage. Straddle your toilet and gently rock foot to foot to see if your floor feels a little weak or soft.
When you are trying to do plumbing repairs yourself, you need to know how to start. There are a lot of things to think about, including which tools to buy and what regulations you need to follow. This article can show you what is needed to get the job done and how to do it properly.
TIP! If your home runs on well water and you notice any orange or pink stains in your fixtures or tub, this is because of iron in your water. This is something that needs to be taken care of by water softener, which you can buy at a store, or have a company come out to your house and take care of it for you.
Water hammer problems, pipe noise due to water hitting the back of the pipe, can be easily repaired. Anchor any easily-accessible loose pipes. If these pipes on the ceiling, or in the floors or walls, it might be a good idea to hire a professional to help you finish the project.
TIP! To keep your garbage disposal lasting for a long time, make sure you clean it on a daily basis. By utilizing a routine on a regular basis, using the combination of lemon rinds, cherry pits, and dish soap, you can maintain a disposal that runs great and smells like new.
Never pay a plumber until the job is complete. Some plumbers may require a deposit, but don’t fork over all the dough until the job is completed to spec. It will make you feel better knowing that your problem has been solved before parting with a large sum of money.
TIP! Look at the overflow holes to ensure they aren’t clogged up. Overflow holes catch the excess water from an overflowing sink.
Get the appropriate tools, and know exactly how to use them before you start working on your plumbing. Read the instructions, which many people overlook, and check out the internet which has many resources to help with plumbing issues. When planning on repairs, plan on having a plan.
TIP! If you have frozen pipes that can be a very costly repair. Fortunately, you can generally prevent your pipes from freezing.
Don’t use bleach tablets, odor removers or those blue tablets in your toilet. While these tablets may be an easy way to clean your toilet and hide odors, they also contain chemicals that can break down the rubber fixtures in your toilet. Long-term use of these products can slow or even stop the functioning of your toilet.
Garbage Disposal
TIP! If grout has gotten stuck in the line, trying to clean it out yourself is probably not the best idea. Do your best to break it up and flush it down.
Never put your hands in your garbage disposal to fix a problem. Garbage disposals are not healthy places for hands to be, even if they are not running. Locate your garbage disposal manual, or do an Internet search for troubleshooting advice and a diagram that illustrates your model.
TIP! Don’t run the water while putting food through your garbage disposal. It seems like water would help make the disposal function more smoothly, and many people simply assume that this is so, but it is not really the case.
Keep the garbage disposal clean to make sure it will last as many years as your house does. Cleaning can be done with a variety of things you may already have in your home, such as dish-washing soap, the rinds of lemons, or the pits of cherries. When you create a regular cleaning schedule, you can make sure your garbage disposal runs in tip-top shape and smells fresh and like new.
TIP! Before you have a plumber come out to your house, research their history with your local government consumer affairs department or agency. You can look at their track record, looking to see whether their license is valid and if they have any complaints lodged against them.
Should you spot unexpected water draining inside the dishwasher, you will probably need to check that the hose from the kitchen sink has been installed correctly. The hose connecting the kitchen sink and the dishwasher has to go up and then down in order for the water of both locations to not mix.
TIP! Take the time to ensure that everyone in your family knows how to cut off the water from the valve in your home. You can locate a water meter close to it.
If you have clogged pipes and thinking about using a pipe cleaner, one that is enzyme based is highly recommended. These cleaners have natural bacteria in them, which turn sludge into liquid form that can be easily removed from your pipes. The enzyme cleaners are the best on the market.
TIP! A competent plumber will need many skills in addition to knowing the basics of water and pipes. One of the most common things that a plumber works on is fixing water lines.
You should always clean your dryer’s lint trap. This can prevent troubles, including fires. Be sure to check the trap for tears and rips, because this can cause bigger problems as it may mean that lint is escaping into your pipes.
TIP! To be efficient about the water heater, you have to figure out what size tank is required by your household. If you know how much hot water you will use in your household, you will know how big your heater has to be.
Frozen pipes can cause you to incur expensive plumbing repair bills. It can also be easily prevented. Pipes in crawlspaces or outside your home should be thoroughly insulated. Secondly, when the temperature begins to drop, you want to drain and disconnect the hoses, then make sure you turn the outside faucet off. A bit of prevention prevents a costly plumbing bill.
TIP! If your washing machine’s drain pipe backs up, the first step is to snake it with a regular pipe snake. Lint can build up in the washing machine and cause a clog, which will lead to overflowing.
You may not have a choice when selecting a plumber for your residence, but you can look them up and view their credentials. You can use customer feedback to prepare for the plumber that the insurance company has assigned you.
TIP! Avoid the chemical drain cleaners if you need to unclog any drains. These products are so dangerous to your skin and eyes that it is simply not worth the risk using them poses.
It is important to know where your cut-off valve is for the water on your property. There will be a water meter there or nearby. Additionally, certain fixtures in your home, including sinks and toilets, may have individual cut-off valves. Show everyone where these valves are, and make sure they know how to switch them off in the case of a crisis.
TIP! Shut off the water immediately and then call a plumber when you find a leak inside your walls. This type of leak is not something to play around with, as it can cause numerous serious problems.
You now know that while plumbing may seem intimidating, it is really not that complicated. There are many basics that you should know first. All it takes to decide where to begin is some research, work, and common sense to find the best and most effective method for your specific job.

TIP! If your pipes freeze, turn on the water from the faucet nearest them to let water out when they start to thaw. This will relieve pressure and might prevent the pipe from bursting, preventing further damage.
Lots of things can go bad in regards to plumbing. Some mishaps are easily correctable, while others are not. Regardless of the exact issue, it is critical that you understand at least the basics of plumbing so that you can fix the problem or get it fixed in a very timely fashion.
TIP! Learning the basics is important with plumbing problems, including how to use the common plumbing tools. Read your manuals and books, either online or at the library, to teach yourself do it yourself plumbing.
If you have a water pipe that freezes, have the tap closest to it turned on so the water can exit while the pipe thaws. This reduces pressure to keep the pipe from bursting, which could prevent a big mess in your home.
TIP! You can unclog a toilet by pouring warm water in the bowl from waist level. Repeat this procedure if necessary as the water returns back to a lower level.
While various toilet tablets and odor removers may be tempting, it’s best not to use them in your toilet. While they are good at removing odors, they have a detrimental effect on the parts of the toilet that are rubber. This can make it not function correctly and may even break it.
TIP! If your garbage disposal is having problems, don’t give in to the desire to attempt a fix by reaching down into the disposal. Even when in the off position, garbage disposals are dangerous.
Feel the floors around the toilets to see if they are soft; this will help you know if you have any damage. Sit on your toilet and sway across both feet to feel if there are any spots less firm than the others. As with many problems, early detection can save you a lot of money.
TIP! Check carefully around the base of your toilet for any damage caused by leaks. Another great way to check is to actually sit on the toilet and move in a rocking motion, going back and forth from right to left to see how much give you feel.
Have all your plumbing needs scheduled all at once. Of course, our natural inclination is to handle problems as they arise, but it helps to get everything done at once. Even if you only have one noticeable problem, you can still get a plumber to inspect other areas. Because plumbers generally round up to the nearest hour, this also allows you to save money. The time only gets rounded up once, rather than multiple times.
TIP! A strainer positioned over a drain can prevent stoppage by collecting food particles as they try to enter the drain. Your kitchen sink strainer must be cleaned whenever it catches anything.
It is important to always run cold water while using your garbage disposal. The blades on the unit will remain sharper and disposal will proceed with few glitches. When you use hot water, any grease that is in the garbage will melt and be more prone to stopping up your drain.
TIP! If your home runs on well water and you notice any orange or pink stains in your fixtures or tub, this is because of iron in your water. This is something that needs to be taken care of by water softener, which you can buy at a store, or have a company come out to your house and take care of it for you.
You can save a lot of money in your energy bills by putting in efficient shower heads. Most of our hot water is used in the shower. When you install energy-efficient heads in each bathroom, you will save around 100 dollars or more per shower.
TIP! Each month, treat your drains by pouring one cup of baking soda down it, and then follow that with a cup of regular white vinegar. Plug the drain afterwards or cover it with a washcloth, as the two chemicals are going to react with each other.
If your home has low water pressure, you can often fix the problem by cleaning out the aerators on your fixtures. Take apart the faucet, and clean the aerator with vinegar and a small brush. Then simply rinse and reattach the aerator. Cleaning the aerator in this manner removes obstacles clogging it, which then allows it to regulate the water pressure properly.
Drain Cleaners
TIP! Do not use your toilet to get rid of garbage. You should never flush cotton balls, sanitary pads, tissues, paper towels, diapers, or certain other materials, because these things don’t dissolve and could clog up your toilet.
Keep from using harsh drain cleaners. If you utilize them too often you can damage your pipes. Rather than using drain cleaners, hire a plumber to fix your blockage problems.
TIP! If you need to replace your shower head, make sure that you buy a new one that is high quality. Choosing the cheapest shower head in the store can end up costing you more in the long run.
There are two ways to remove clean out plugs. One way is to make the fitting looser with a hammer and chisel. The only other option is to chisel right through the clean out plug.
TIP! Be sure to check your dryer and clear your lint trap of any debris. This can prevent fires and malfunctions.
