Another OC of mine for the AU! Apologies if his design looks a tad bit inconsistent, I was tired when I drew this.
Anyways, this is Eli Peterson, Xeno’s love interest. He can be a bit of a dummy at times, but he has a good heart. :)
Tumblr media
Also little bonus doodle lol.

Nindroid’s First New Year’s
Look, I know I’m a few days late for a New Year’s one shot, okay? But here it is anyway. Some X OC fluff for myself because... screw you. Sticky note shipping? I think is what we’re calling this? Whatever, read my shame.
~600 words
She had spent so much time wandering around looking for him, that she hadn’t looked in the one place she should have. When her eyes finally caught sight of him, she sighed, disappointed that she hadn’t realize he would always be one step ahead of her.
“I’ve been looking for you,” she laughed, moving to join him on the balcony.
“Looking for me?” Cryptor asked, glancing back at her. “What are you even doing still here? Don’t you have like, friends and family to be celebrating with?”
“Not really,” Drew shrugged, reaching the railing next to him. “Plus, everyone knows the view of the fireworks is best from up here.”
“Still doesn’t explain why you were looking for me,” he shook his head.
“I want to make sure your first New Year’s goes well,” she nudged him.
“You know, I have had other New Year’s Eve’s before.”
“Yeah, but this will be your first one not in prison,” she pressed.
“That’s fair, that’s fair,” he chuckled. “Either way though, the holiday where everyone gets drunk and wears stupid hats is not one I’ve been particularly looking forward to.”
“I get it,” she shrugged. “I’ve got no alcohol, no stupid hats, I don’t even have a clock on me, we don’t even have to do a countdown.”
“How will we know when it’s midnight, isn’t that the whole point?”
She smiled, looking out at the spattering of fireworks starting to scatter the skyline. “Trust me, we’ll know.”
“So,” he sighed. “Do you have any resolutions you're inevitably going to give up on?”
“Not this year, no,” Drew grinned. “But I have been thinking a lot about everything that’s happened this year and I just wanted to tell you… thanks.”
“For what?”
“For making things fun,” she shrugged. “I never thought I’d love coming to work as much as I do now, but you showed up and suddenly I can’t wait to wake up at 5am every morning. Even though we’ve been through some absolutely insane stuff, it’s totally worth it because I’ve never been so… happy, you know?”
“I don’t know if I deserve credit for that,” he mumbled. “If anything, I owe you some thanks. You’re the only one who makes all of this feel remotely normal.”
“What do you mean?” she glanced at him.
“Everything. Just everything. Having a job, living in an apartment, having friendships, being a sentient piece of metal in a world of normal people. None of it makes any sense, but you made me feel like... maybe I could actually pull off being a decent person.”
“You are a decent person,” she corrected him. “You need to quit thinking of yourself like you’re not.”
Both of their attentions were ripped away by a sudden and simultaneous burst of sound and light filling sky in a kaleidoscope of color, almost as bright as the day itself. Cryptor’s eyes were glued to the light, stunned at the sheer number of explosions illuminating the sky at once.
“Wow…” Cryptor whispered.
“I told you we’d know.” Drew’s eyes had strayed from the commotion itself, instead soaking in his awed reaction.
Cryptor leaned just further over the edge of the balcony, caught in a daze, clearly more infatuated than either of them ever thought he would be. “There’s just… there’s so many. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
Drew could feel her heart swell, a sort of longing compassion filling her. She inched closer to him, placing a gentle kiss on his cheek.
“Happy New Year, Cry.”

Eventually got cursed by Janus in BotL when she insulted his name and it resulted in a permanent, painful and giant scar on her back during the Battle of New York. A lot of people see her as carless and irresponsible due to it. Please do not trust this woman with valuable objects; they can and will break. "Let me singlehandedly destroy these stereotypes. Mara, the hammer, please."
"They told me to pick my battles. And you know? I wanted all of the battles."

Hello neighbor the stepmother: It's all starts with Mya waking up from a bad dream she had of her falling down to death but it's was just a dream, Aaron gets out of bed and give her doll back, and apologised to her the way how he behave she accept the apology, so they were good now but then they're father Theodore called to come down, did they and Theodore told them that the good news, that I found a new stepmother for them, at first both Aaron and Mya got confused but then Theodore called his new wife, and she comes in and it's introduce herself, her name is "Valentina" Of course Aaron and Mya were happy to see her, at first Mya thought she was nice but, whenever she looks at her, she always give her not happy look until one day Mya found out the truth about her new stepmother... Her dad Theodore... Was married to a serial killer.

Q: How much do I know about sports off the top of my head? I’m bored, so let’s find out.
NFL:
NFC West (one of the strongest divisions ever):
Seattle Seahawks. Key (and less-key) players: Russell Wilson (QB), DK Metcalf (WR), Tyler Lockett (WR), Freddie Swain (WR), Greg Olsen (TE), Colby Parkinson (TE), Damien Lewis (G), Duane Brown (T), Ethan Pocic (C, I think?), Chris Carson (RB), Rashaad Penny (RB), Travis Homer (RB), Michael Dickson (P), help what’s the kicker’s name, Jamal Adams (S), Quandre Diggs (S), Bobby Wagner (LB), KJ Wright (LB), Jordyn Brooks (LB), Poona Ford (DI), Jarran Reed (defensive... line somewhere), Shaquill Griffon (CB), Quinton Jefferson (CB), Tre Flowers (CB), Benson Mayowa (DE), Carlos Dunlap (DE), Alton Robinson (DE), Shaquem Griffon (DE), god I can’t remember the new slot corner but he’s pretty good I think. Coach: Pete Carroll. OC: Brian Schottenheimer. DC: Ken Norton, Jr. GM: John Schneider. Owner: Jody Allen. Notes: Every game is close. Used to always run, but this year always throws. Quarterback is basically magic. Defense is severely lacking. My home team, obviously.
San Francisco 49ers. Key players: Jimmy Garoppolo (QB), George Kittle (TE), many fast running backs, Raheem Mostert is one of them, Trent Williams (T), Richard Sherman (CB), Nick Bosa (DE). Coach: Kyle Shanahan. Notes: Running game scheme is a work of staggering genius. Best player is a tight end for some reason. Went to the Super Bowl last year.
Arizona Cardinals. Key players: Kyler Murray (QB), Larry Fitzgerald (WR), DeAndre Hopkins (WR), Christian Kirk (WR), Budda Baker (S), Patrick Peterson (CB). Coach: Kliff Kingsbury. Notes: Runs many wide receivers, in scheme Kingsbury got from coaching college. Used to be bad, but getting better each year. Kyler is very small.
Los Angeles Rams. Key players: Jared Goff (QB), Cooper Kupp (WR), Andrew Whitworth (T), Darrell Henderson (RB), Aaron Donald (DI), Johnny Hekker (P). Coach: Sean McVay. DC: Used to be Wade Phillips, but not anymore. Notes: Runs a lot of plays from the same formation. Coach is very smart. Made the Super Bowl two years ago. Best player is a defensive tackle, for some reason.
NFC East (the worst division in NFL history):
New York Giants. Key players: Daniel Jones (QB), Saquon Barkley (RB). Coach: Joe, uh... Douglas. GM: Dave Gettleman. Notes: Spent a huge amount of draft capital on players the numbers said weren’t worth it. Seems accurate.
Philadelphia Eagles. Key players: Carson Wentz (QB), Jalen Hurts (backup QB), literally everyone else is injured. Oh, Jason Peters (T). Coach: Doug Peterson. GM: Howie Roseman. Notes: Everyone is injured. Everyone. Went to the Super Bowl 3 years ago and won with their backup QB.
Dallas Cowboys. Key players: Dak Prescott (QB, injured), Andy Dalton (backup QB, injured), No one of note (third-string QB), Amari Cooper (WR), CeeDee Lamb (WR), Ezekiel Elliott (RB), Leighton Vander Esch (LB), Greg Zuerlein (K), I could probably name more if I tried hard enough. Coach: Mike McCarthy. GM: Jerry Jones. Owner: Also Jerry Jones. Notes: Every year they have good players and lose anyway. Paid their running back instead of their quarterback. Also, now they have no healthy quarterback.
Washington [used to have a racist name]. Key players: Dwayne Haskins (benched QB), Alex Smith (QB... whose leg does not work), Kyle Allen (QB), Terry McLaurin (WR), Chase Young (DE), Montez Sweat (DE). Coach: Ron Rivera. Owner: Dan Snyder, who is the worst human being in the NFL, and that is saying a lot. Notes: No one cares about the football, Dan Snyder should be in jail. Also, Ron Rivera has cancer and Alex Smith’s leg injury almost killed him, so those guys deserve better.
NFC North:
Detroit Lions. Key Players: Matthew Stafford (QB), um, I should remember some more. Jeff Okudah (CB). Coach: Matt Patricia. Notes: Stafford deserves better. Patricia keeps signing ex-Patriots players, and it doesn’t work, presumably because the good ones are current-Patriots-players.
Minnesota Vikings. Key players: Kirk Cousins (QB), Adam Thielen (WR), Justin Jefferson (WR), Dalvin Cook (RB), many good defensive players whose names I don’t know. Coach: Mike Zimmer. Notes: Historically a good defense and just missing a competent QB. Paid a lot for an average QB; defense sucks now for some reason. Also, runs a lot.
Chicago Bears. Key Players: Mitchell Trubisky (QB), Nick Foles (QB), Allen Robinson (WR), Khalil Mack (DE). Coach: Matt Nagy. Notes: Has been wasting great defensive performances with poor to average quarterback play since World War II.
Green Bay Packers. Key Players: Aaron Rodgers (QB), Davante Adams (WR), Allan Lazard (WR), Aaron Jones (RB), Jamaal Williams (RB), Robert Tonyan (TE), David Bakhtiari (T), Za’Darius Smith (DE), Preston Smith (DE). Coach: Matt LaFleur. GM: Brian Gutekunst. Owner: “The fans.” Notes: Has started a hall-of-famer at quarterback every season since before you were born. Winning big but the analytics say they’re getting a bit lucky lately.
NFC South:
Atlanta Falcons. Key players: Matt Ryan (QB), Julio Jones (WR), I forgot the new WR’s name but he looks legit, Todd Gurley (RB). Coach that was recently fired: Dan Quinn. Notes: Have become known for inexplicably blowing enormous leads late in games. It’s quite funny, at this point.
New Orleans Saints. Key players: Drew Brees (QB), Michael Thomas (WR), Alvin Kamara (RB), Taysom Hill (listed as backup QB but just kinda does weird shit on offense), Jameis Winston (backup QB), Cam Jordan (DE), I should remember the cornerback’s name. Coach: Sean Payton. Notes: Known for having tons of talent every year, salary cap be damned, and then losing in heartbreaking fashion in the playoffs. Brees is getting old.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Key players: Tom Brady (QB), Mike Evans (WR), Chris Godwin (WR), this one WR who can go eat shit, Rob Gronkowski (TE), Antoine Winfield Jr (S), Vita Vea (DI). Coach: Bruce Arians. Notes: Signed Tom Brady. It’s working pretty well. Defense is top-tier. The most balanced team.
god, who is the other NFC south team, uh...  hold on, lemme get back to you.
AFC North:
Baltimore Ravens
Pittsburgh Steelers
Cleveland Browns
um... Cincinnati Bengals? Maybe?
AFC East:
New York Jets
New England Patriots
Miami Dolphins
Buffalo Bills
AFC South:
Houston Texans
Jacksonville Jaguars
Tennessee Titans
uhh... Indianapolis Colts.
AFC West:
Denver Broncos
Kansas City (I think this name should be changed too, honestly)
Las Vegas Raiders
I guess this must be the Los Angeles Chargers?
Oh, so the other NFC South team is the Carolina Panthers. Of course. Key players: Teddy Bridgewater (QB), Christian McCaffrey (RB and also arguably their best receiver), Yetur Gross-Matos (DE). Coach: Matt Rhule. Notes: Rebuilding their team this year, but quietly doing pretty well, considering.
Alright, I’m gonna stop there. Didn’t even get to the other half of the NFL, let alone started to try and list NBA/MLB/NHL teams, which would have gone extremely poorly. Story for another day.
Also, uh, yeah, this is a normal amount to know about football as someone who doesn’t watch football, oooobviously...

2017 Week 1 Preview
Welcome to the NFL season. Maybe it can keep your mind off the fact that the world is burning and drowning at the same time and nazis are everywhere and there is a racist sexual predator in charge of America and North Korea didn’t watch War Games as a kid and the bees are disappearing.
Teams on Bye: MIA, TB
KC 24 - 31 NE -- Game to Watch -- I’m choosing to view this as a good thing because one of my least favorite teams has to lose. Some people are pointing out that Andy Reid has a great record when he has more than a week to prep, but y’all, so does Belichick. There is precedent for the Chiefs kicking the living shit out of the Pats, but I don’t see it this time, not on the night where those jackasses get to bathe in their own self-importance and Super Bowl “highlights.”
JAX 20 - 27 HOU -- Lock It Up -- I’m by no means high on the Texans this year, and I don’t fancy their offense against the Jags D. But this is gonna feel like that Gleason game in the Superdome, and the Jaguars are good at fucking things up even when they are not astounding emotional underdogs. JJ Watt and Jadeveon Clowney will both be waiting to make Leonard Fournette’s NFL welcome not so welcoming. Maybe they’ll injure Bortles and Jacksonville will have to start an actual QB... If you can call Chad Henne that...
PHI 30 - 28 WSH -- Game to Watch -- -- Unpopular Opinion -- I spent the last year playing the Eagles on Madden franchise so you’ll have to forgive me if I’m a bit bullish on them. I may forget that in real life they don’t have 2,000-yard rusher and 3-time MVP Melvin Jolly in the backfield, or that Fletcher Cox has yet to be enshrined in the Pre Football Hall of Fame. In fact, Carson Wentz has zero Super Bowl rings, as opposed to the six he has garnered on my xbox! Still, the biggest factor for the Eagles last year was Lane Johnson. Before his injury they were 4-1, after they were like 3-8. That combined with Washington’s lack of pass rush means we might not yet have to worry about whether Philly can run the ball. The reverse is true on the other side: Washington’s stout o-line and the Eagles’ strong front seven cancel each other out, leaving Kirk Cousins throwing into an admittedly patchy secondary with no help from the ground game. I like the rivalry game, and I’ll give it to the up-and-comers.
NYJ 21 - 18 BUF -- Unpopular Opinion -- I know Tyrod Taylor technically cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol, but you can’t convince me he’s at 100%, or that the debut of the Rick Dennison offense in Buffalo won’t be a nightmare. This is exactly the kind of game the Josh McCown Browns would win, and it’s one I think his Jets will too. I just don’t see a lot of movement from Buffalo, whose list of weapons has been whittled down to two.
OAK 24 - 28 TEN -- Unpopular Opinion -- -- Game to Watch -- Time for Tennessee to Prove It. There’s no defense I would rather go against in a Prove It game than Oakland. I could easily see Marcus Mariota shredding them. If I wasn't a total whip I would be starting him this week in fantasy instead of Aaron Rodgers. Both of these QBs are young and coming off of injuries. I am excited by this. They also have aging runners trying to stave off younger bucks. I think if Marshawn is gonna be good, it’s gonna be early in the season. In the end, despite being outcoached, I think the Titans watch up great against Oakland and extract an important, top-shelf win at home.
BAL 23 - 27 CIN Such a close game I predict and yet I am not too interested in this game. We’ll see if Flacco is better, but anything else this game reveals could easily be a fluke. In the end, Cincy has dominated the Ravens at home for awhile, and I don’t like where Baltimore is at the moment. If the Bengals can find even one small area of leverage, they’ll find the win.
ARI 31 - 21 DET -- Game to Watch -- -- Lock It Up -- Low-key important game featuring two potential NFC Wild Card teams. The difference will be that one is a team and the other is Matt Stafford gunning his way to an exhausted .500+ despite having to max out the potential of the rest of the roster to get there. I think we might see a big game from Larry Fitzgerald. The Lions don’t seem to be set up to cover him.
ATL 26 - 20 CHI -- Survivor -- Some smart people think this is gonna be a tough out for Atlanta, and yet I give them my highest confidence Survivor designation. Am I stupid? Or am I just banking on Julio Jones making quick work of Chicago’s iffy secondary and Mike Glennon coming back to earth after an excellent preseason?
PIT 35 - 20 CLE -- Lock It Up -- Gonna add a name to the Cleveland QB Jersey of Doom! Kizer, your time on the clock starts now. We get a Joe Hayden revenge game in quick turnaround, and unfairly it will come against a Browns team that will be missing #1 overall pick Myles Garrett. That just bites for football in general. This will be LeVeon Bell’s first-ever Week 1 start, thanks to injuries and a league system that still for some reason punishes players for pot use. Who runs this thing, Jeff Sessions? Anyway, Bell might pass 100 yards by halftime. Something to watch, though, is that Roethlisberger historically struggles in Cleveland. I mean not as much as Cleveland’s quarterbacks do, but he does struggle.
IND 12 - 21 LAR -- NFL Title Belt (IND) -- The NFL Title Belt enters the season on inauspicious terms, ready to be wrested from Scott Tolzien’s hands by the Aaron Donald-less Rams defense. I will be shocked if Indy pulls this off, the only reason I don’t have it as a lock is that I don’t trust the Rams as far as I can throw them, or as far as Jared Goff could throw the ball last season without getting intercepted.
SEA 36 - 28 GB -- Unpopular Opinion -- -- Game to Watch -- I’m fucking excited for this game. You get the Bennett Brothers facing off in the middle of an emotional situation for Michael. You get Sheldon Richardson’s debut. You get Eddie Lacy’s revenge(?). You get the revenge game for the Packers’ stomping that was itself revenge for the NFC title game comeback AND the failed revenge for the Final Mary AND the Fail Mary itself. You get Aaron Rodgers facing an LoB that has no significant injuries for the first time since said NFC title game. Y’all, be pumped. The Seahawks will play passionate because of the Bennett stuff, they will refuse to let GB run, and they will execute their defensive scheme which we know can disrupt Rodgers when it’s done right.
CAR 29 - 27 SF This is a worrisome game, and if it’s SF’s I will be kicking myself. Cam is coming off an injury that lasted all offseason, their secondary sucks, Kyle Shanahan gets to debut his career at home, and the Niners have a weird streak of winning on kickoff weekend. The Panthers have to travel all the way across the country, and on top of that, don’t underestimate the memory of SB50. We saw how pumped the Broncos got playing here in the preseason. But just look at the names of the players and tell me again how San Fran pulls this one off, eh? If nothing else, Christian McCaffrey and Greg Olsen can blow this one open.
NYG 23 - 26 DAL Again? Yo, NFL, stop it with this shit. Look, I want to believe that the Giants will stymie the Cowboys AGAIN and Eli will take advantage of his new weapons and the Cowboys will be exposed, but I don’t think so. Mostly I just dread the coverage of Zeke. Can this just... Not? If Odell doesn’t play I might not even watch, even though it’s the only game today that I’ll be home for.
NO 31 - 27 MIN -- Game to Watch -- The return of Adrian Peterson! Which means he’s good for at least one devastating fumble and at least one run with 5+ broken tackles, along with something stupid he says to the media after the game. This is strength on strength for sure: the Saints offense against the Vikings defense should excite. It may be on the road but the indoor vibe of the Vikings’ stadium is Drew Bree's-Friendly. On the other side, both units have to be improved from last year to make any impact. I like the Saints’ multiple layers of defensive improvement better than the Vikings’ strategy of “throw Dalvin Book at the wall and see if he sticks” so... Whodat!
LAC 16 - 19 DEN -- Game to Watch -- So get this: Not only is this the first game to feature two black head coaches in their debut games, but those coaches GREW UP AS NEIGHBORS IN AURORA COLORADO and then were TEAMMATES ON THE BRONCOS. How on earth does that happen!?!?!? Anyway, usually I would pick a loss for either of these teams since they are new coaches who I don’t honestly have a ton of faith in, but they can’t both lose so I’m kinda gonna go with the It’s Easier To Coach At Home In Denver Than Away At Denver. As you can probably guess, that is one CJ Anderson TD and then four Brandon McManus FGs I have for Denver on the board, not exactly a runaway game. This is a low-key Mike McCoy re-revenge game, as he was stolen from DEN to HC in SD but then had to come back to OC for us after LA showed him the door. I’ll be interested to see how this whole team looks under new coaching, especially since I would at this point consider the Chargers more talented across the board. If we can’t stop the run (like last year) it’ll be tough to squeak one out. I know we have a lot of guys injured up front, but somehow I still like the pieces we’re gonna put out there, and by the time we’re running out of depth the Chargers will be gassed from the altitude. Either way, should be an interesting start (in primetime, no less) to both the Vance Joseph and Anthony Lynn eras.

Good Morning, Mr. Borg
My goodness, it’s been a while. Good to get back into it though.
The whole thing was feeling more and more like a horrifically elaborate escape room. We had been dropped into a Borg Tower on full lockdown and given no clues as to how to get out again. Even though we hadn’t been given a time limit, every second that ticked by seemed to get progressively more urgent- And none of us wanted to know what would happen if that urgency caught up with us.
“It can’t be that easy, can it?” Cryptor insisted. “A reset button just seems too obvious.”
“Technically, it’s a reset switch,” I corrected him.
“Cutting all of building power seems dangerous, especially during this storm,” Mr. Borg shook his head.
“Yeah, well, so is whatever is in control of the tower right now,” Cryptor shrugged.
“It’s the only option I could find in all of the notes. Cutting the power would force the security system into a hard reset. Whatever is in the system would be gone in an instant, and we’d get control back within a few minutes.”
Cyrus still seemed unconvinced. We had been pouring over blueprints and building documents for a few hours now. We had fallen into the trap of false hope a few times before. Everything we found seemed to be a dead end. I didn’t blame him for being skeptical. We were all getting antsy. It was already late afternoon. If we couldn’t even figure out what the problem was at this point, how long would it take us to actually get out? “Well, where is it?” He asked, his eyes still frantically studying the blueprints.
“There’s one on each maintenance floor. The closest one to us would be on the 93rd,” I explained.
“How sure are we that this will work?” Cryptor asked.
“I don’t know, how much do you trust Pixal’s understanding? They’re her notes.”
His face soured as he looked down at the table, taking in all the factors. “Well, I guess at this point it’s the only option we’ve got,” he sighed.
“You two will have to go down without me. I’m not risking using the elevator again.” Cyrus shook his head.
“Why even two of us?” Cryptor countered. “It only takes one person to flip the switch, right?”
Mr. Borg stared pensively down at the blueprints, his nerves obviously catching up with him a bit. “I’d feel better if you didn’t go alone.”
“Well, I don’t exactly feel good about leaving you alone,” I returned.
“Look,” he sighed. “We know that this level is safe, at least for now. But the switch is seven floors down. We don’t know what’s down there.”
Cryptor and I glanced at each other, his implication striking both of us.
“You could monitor up here to see if system status changes or anything,” I suggested.
“And then we could just use some hand radios to communicate.” My. Borg agreed. “But first, we should fit you up with your arm,” he turned to Cryptor.
“Yeah, I guess that might help,” Cryptor chuckled, looking down at his stub.
“I’ll go get our supplies,” I offered.
And with that we split up. I was off to a storage room to find radios, flashlights and anything else we might need on our journey downstairs. As I found myself alone for the first time that day I caught myself thinking of my new companion. It was strange. Strange that a man that caused so much destruction would act the way he did. Everything about him seemed more subdued and lighthearted than I could have imagined just yesterday. It didn’t make sense. Had they done something to him in prison to make him act this way? Some sort of reprogramming? It didn’t seem like an act. He seemed to genuinely be this decent person. I got along with him so easily. Maybe that says something about me. The most boring girl on earth and one of Ninjago’s most infamous war criminals certainly doesn’t seem like a natural match up. And yet there we were, about to venture down to the depths of an unstable building together and the one thing I wasn’t worried about… was him.
After finding what we needed I made my way back to the main room, meeting them on the production floor.
“How’s the new arm?” I asked, grabbing Cryptor’s attention.
“It actually works this time.” He smiled, wiggling it a bit.
“Well, I’ve got flashlights for the two of us.” I tossed him one, his new arm moving to catch it quite effortlessly. “And coms for everyone.” I placed the carrier down on the desk, disconnecting them and handing them out.
“Is this thing working?” Cryptor tested the radio, the sound echoing on the other coms as I attached mine to my belt.
“No messing around while you're down there,” Borg pressed. “Just get in and get out.”
“And no stupid horror movie stuff either,” I added. “No splitting up or anything, I will freak out.”
“Yeah, yeah, don’t worry about it,” Cryptor flipped on his flashlight, shining it around the room.
“This is serious, I don’t want to get abandoned down there.”
Cryptor clicked his flashlight off again, his eyes returning to me. “And neither do I.”
“Here,” I switched my flashlight to my other hand, extending my free one. “I pinky promise.”
He raised an eyebrow, now officially skeptical.
“Come on, it’s a very solemn swear as long as both of us respect it. I won’t abandon you, and you won’t abandon me.”
He looked at it a moment, still hesitant, but reluctantly raised his hand to meet mine, our fingers interlocking.
“There,” I smiled. “Now, lets go flip a switch.”
“Remember,” Borg chimed in as we started towards the stairs. “93rd floor, second left.”
“Got it.” I nodded.
“Best of luck to you.”
I gave him a shy smile, my mind already fixed on the dark corridor awaiting me.
A soft click came from behind me, my eyes still fixed on Mr. Borg.
“You ready for this sticky note?”
My eyes narrowed as I spun around. “I don’t know, marshmallow, are you ready?” I clicked on my own flashlight, joining his in illuminating the hallway.
He glanced at me, sighing. “Well, there’s no point in just standing here looking at it.” He took a tentative step forward into the darkness, my own footsteps shortly following behind.
“Borg tower is so… different with the lights off.”
“You mean creepy.” He corrected me. “It’s creepy with the lights out.”
“Not necessarily.” I shook my head as we reached the first landing. “It’s just so empty and lifeless. The whole point of the building is to be this sort of lighthouse in the middle of the city. When the lights are out it just feels… wrong.”
Cryptor continued down the steps, my words hanging unresponded in the air for a moment.
“You know, most technology still at least has a warning light activated when it’s broken. The only time it ever goes dark is when it’s completely dead."
His words echoed through the corridors, soon fading into the walls, the space filling only with the continued click of my heals as we continued down the hypnotically repetitive stairways.

The floor numbers counted down to our eventual destination, a chill running up my back as we got closer. Perhaps it was the cold seeping in from the storm outside, or maybe just the spirit of whatever it was that was keeping us here rushing past. My eyes turned up to see the increasing number of flights we had descended down stretching up into the darkness- fading away as if our path back no longer existed.
“I get the strange feeling we’re being lured into something.” I murmured as we reached the last landing. “And the only way to escape it is going to be running up a dozen flights of stairs.”
Cryptor turned around, his light shifting towards me. “Or down a hundred,” he countered.
I lifted my radio, clicking it on for the first time. “We’ve made it to the 93rd floor,” I told Mr. Borg.
“The switch will be in the main control room.” He answered back. “Take your second left, and it should be at the end of the hall,” He directed us.
Even with our directions, we both stood frozen, neither of us willing to open the door.
“You ready for whatever’s behind there?” I asked.
“I mean... assuming what’s behind there is probably nothing.”
“...I don’t love those odds.”
Cryptor’s flashlight shifted, landing on the emergency fire axe sitting in a conveniently marked box next to the door. He glanced at me, questioningly.
“I’m not sure how much safer I’d feel with you swinging an axe around.”
“You could take the axe,” he offered.
“I’m not sure that’d make it any better.”
His light turned again to the door. “Let’s just hope there’s nothing behind the door then.”
And with that, he pushed open the door, our eyes gracing the other side. Our first few steps came with more caution than I think I’ve ever given anything. There were no lights left on in the hall, but nothing seemed off aside from that. If something else was on this floor with us, it certainly hadn’t touched anything.
“See, nothing here,” Cryptor sighed. “Second left he said?”
“...yeah,” I answered, both of us moving down the corridor a touch quicker now. “We just have to get in, flip the switch, and get out. That’s it.”
“Exactly. Like I said, we didn’t even need two of us to do this.” Cryptor mused as we passed the first left.
“You can’t blame Borg for wanting to be cautious.” I countered as we rounded the next corner. “I mean last time what was down here was-”
And there it was. Right in front of me. As if my words had willed them into existence, there they were. At least a dozen pairs of unflinching red eyes, staring through the darkness back at us.
“...the Overlord.”
Something about them was almost hypnotic in a way. Magnetic. They drew me to them in a dreamlike trance, only my subconscious really in control. I started towards them, my feet moving beneath me in an unspoken need to know more, perhaps drunk on the shock of standing in front of my possible death.
It was only a few steps more before my light could reach the end of the hall, finally illuminating the phantom nindroids.
“They’re just screens,” I sighed. “From inside the lab, they’re not real.”
I glanced over my shoulder, trying to find Cryptor, but he wasn’t behind me. I turned around, finding him stuck at the beginning of the hallway. He hadn’t moved since we had rounded the corner.
“Cryptor?” His stare went straight through me to the displays behind me. He was lost.
“Whatever it is must have replaced the security camera feeds.” I moved my flashlight to better illuminate them to try and bring him back. The two large double doors to the control room were wide open, exposing the whole area. Although, the fact that our mystery bug had already hacked this control room shed some doubt on our plan. “You think it means anything?”
“...I-” Cryptor glanced around, snapping out of his trance. “I don’t know.” His steps moved to join me as I again turned my attention to the room.
“We just need to find the switch,” I reasserted. “Let’s not get distracted.”
“Right.” Cryptor sighed, finally catching up with me. “Just flip the switch and get out of here.”
I took a few more steps into the room, scanning for any other evidence of our mystery intruder.
“I don’t like that it knew we were coming here,” Cryptor muttered.
“I just don’t understand how it got into the system to begin with,” I pondered. “It must have entered between yesterday and this morning, and the tower’s been closed that whole time, no one’s had access to the system besides us. I mean, what’s changed since then?”
I could hear Cryptor’s footsteps stop behind me. “...me.”
“What? Are you self-admitting to having a secret evil agenda?” I chuckled.
“No,” he sighed. “But the day I get back, the tower goes back into Overlord mode, projecting those nindroid eyes everywhere… that’s not a coincidence.”
“Well, I don’t think-”
I was stopped by a sudden and loud burst of music from behind me, startling us both. We both turned to the source of the sound, one of the monitors now showing an extremely familiar video.
“Welcome to Borg Industries,” Pixal’s voice echoed through the room as her image faded onto screen. “Where the future-”
           CRASH!
She was cut short by Cryptor, violently smashing the screen with his flashlight. We both stood in silence for a moment, his reaction surprising the both of us. “…I can’t stand that video,” he sighed. “Her voice is so annoying.” He brushed it off, turning to continue the search.
I felt a smile slip onto my face as I followed him. “I swear, that video will always be ingrained in my head, I must have listened to it a thousand times.”
“Maybe it really is the Overlord back again, because only he could truly appreciate how agonizing that video is to use it against us like that.” He glanced back at me, smirking.
I chuckled a bit, deadening my voice a bit, “Where the future is what you make it,”
“Let me be your guide as we step into that future together!” Cryptor joined me in reciting the line, our cadences matching as we continued to wander past the monitors.
“Woah, is this it?” Cryptor’s light landed on a large lever sticking up from the floor.
I crouched down, examining the handle. Large capital letters spelling out POWER were printed on the side. “I think so.”
“I was imaging something a little smaller,” He mused as I stood again.
“You want to do the honors?” I offered.
“Why not?” he shrugged, placing down his flashlight.
I pulled my com from my belt as he approached the lever. “We’re ready to flip the switch,” I announced.
“You should be clear to go,” Mr. Borg responded.
I looked up at Cryptor as he nodded, gripping the handle, and beginning to move it. It let out a large groan, as if never before been used, struggling to move into position before-
THUD
Everything stopped. The monitors were blank. The humming had ceased. And for a moment it seemed as if the entire world had halted. Cryptor and I glanced at each other, neither of us breathing.
“Looks like it worked.” Mr. Borg’s voice came over the radio. “Hopefully that took care of the problem. Flip it back so we can get things moving again.”
“Got it,” I sighed, letting out my breath.
Cryptor began to switch the lever, it again letting out a nasty creek as it switched. But once it got to the other side…
Nothing.
We both stood there a moment, waiting for the lights to buzz on or the monitors to start up… but nothing.
“Well, this isn’t good,” Cryptor picked up his flashlight again, taking a few steps through the room.
“Are you getting anything upstairs?” I asked Mr. Borg, hoping that everything was simply on a bit of a delay.
“No, nothing.” He responded.
“Well, should we try again?” I asked.
I waited a moment for a response, all of us at a loss of what to do.
“Well, at least we know my arm works,” Cryptor shrugged, finally resigning to one of the seats by the monitors.
“I’m glad the second one is working for you.”
“Me too,” he smiled. “Even if the first one did work, I’d probably be a bit suspicious. The first one never works right.”
“Drew, why don’t you wait a few minutes before trying again,” Mr. Borg’s response came. “As long as the power’s off, we should be safe, and we don’t want to over trigger the system.”
“Got it.” I responded, moving to join Cryptor as we waited.
“I just don’t get why we would be able to turn the power off, but not back on.”
“It means we’re not in control,” Cryptor concluded. “Which means whatever it is is still in control.”
“But we turned off the power,” I countered, sitting down.
“We don’t know that,” he shook his head. “We turned off the power on this floor and the top floor, that’s all we know for sure.”
“You don’t think we turned off the power?”
“I think it let us turn off the power.”
I sighed, still stumped at our situation. “But what would have such complete autonomy over the tower like that? To override the overrides?”
“I did,” he shrugged. “I don’t anymore, obviously, but when I was first built, I had complete access to every function in Borg Tower, final override authority. Which is obviously insane, no one should have that amount of control, but… I guess that’s the responsibility the Overlord gives you when you’re the first one off his factory line.”
His words stirred with me for a moment as I thought. What could be doing this to us? What would want to do this to us? And now? My eyes trailed off as I thought, eventually catching hold of Cryptor’s new arm.
“...Maybe it’s you.” I sat up, the pieces falling into place in my head.
“Me?” He asked.
“You said you were the first one off the factory line, right?”
“Right,” He nodded.
“But we know that can’t be right,” I continued.
“Why not?”
“...Because the first one never works right.” I grabbed my com. “Mr. Borg, were there any nindroids manufactured before the main line?” I asked.
“Um… yes, actually,” he responded. “We made one test droid before starting on the rest. Good thing too, it had some issues. We couldn’t get the vocal transmission to work, everything always came out all garbled. Fixed it for the main line though. Why?”
I turned to Cryptor, now convinced. “A malfunctioning nindroid who had all the same programming and accesses as you, and was likely disposed of in the basement furnace-”
“When I plugged in to the tower’s system for the diagnostic, that’s when everything started acting up, that’s what probably activated his code.”
“Drew?” Borg’s voice came again. “Did you two flip the switch down there?”
Cryptor and I looked at each other in panic for a moment.
“No why? What’s happening?” I stood up, moving towards the door.
“Well, I think things may have just taken a moment to start up, the production line at least seems to be working.”
“No. No, this is bad.” Cryptor stood as well, starting for the door.
“Why, what’s happening?” I could feel myself growing more panicked by the moment.
“He’s making himself a body.”
“How do you know?” I asked, following after him.
“...Because it’s exactly what I would do.”

NFL Mock Draft — 2020
Feel the rhythm! Feel the rhyme! Get on up, it’s mock draft time!
That’s right ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for my annual mock of the 1st Round in the 2020 NFL Draft.
I’m going to start off my article with a little additional information; I will be listing out my top players for each position.
Lets just jump in, shall we…
Quarterback 1. Tua Tagovailoa 2. Joe Burrow 3. Justin Herbert 4. Jalen Hurts 5. Jordan Love
Running Back 1. D’Andre Swift 2. Jonathan Taylor 3. Clyde Edwards-Helaire 4. J.K. Dobbins 5. Cam Akers
Wideout 1. Jerry Jeudy 2. CeeDee Lamb 3. Justin Jefferson 4. Henry Ruggs III 5. Tee Higgins
Tight End 1. Cole Kmet 2. Thaddeus Moss 3. Albert Okwuegbunam 4. Hunter Bryant 5. Harrison Bryant
Offensive Tackle 1. Tristan Wirfs 2. Jedrick Wills Jr. 3. Andrew Thomas 4. Mekhi Becton 5. Austin Jackson
Interior Offensive Lineman 1. Cesar Ruiz 2. Lloyd Cushenberry 3. Netane Muti 4.Nick Harris 5. Joan Jackson
Defensive Line 1. Chase Young 2. Derrick Brown 3. Javon Kinlaw 4. K’Lavon Chaisson 5. Yetur Gross-Matos
Linebacker 1. Isaiah Simmons 2. Patrick Queen 3. Kenneth Murray 4. Zack Baun 5. Willie Gay Jr.
Cornerback 1. Jeff Okudah 2. CJ Henderson 3. Kristian Fulton 4. Trevon Diggs 5. A.J. Terrell
Safety 1. Xavier McKinney 2. Grant Delpit 3. Antoine Winfield Jr. 4. Jeremy Chinn 5. Ashtyn Davis
And kickers and punters obviously don’t matter.
Now, before I jump into the actual picks I know that there are some debatable rankings, mainly at the quarterback and the wideout position.
I ranked Tagovailoa over Burrow because Tagovailoa is a more proven player; he had been a star with Alabama for a few years, while Burrow had one season of greatness, though yes, it may have been the greatest collegiate quarterback season ever it was still only one. It’s also worth noting that he (Burrow) transferred from Ohio State to be the starter at LSU, not compete for the starting position at Ohio State had he stayed. Lastly, is the age; Burrow will be 24 this year, while Tagovailoa has just turned 22.
The other ranking that may catch people off guard is the ranking of Ruggs III being my fourth wideout. To most there is a top tier at the position, that being Jeudy, Lamb and Ruggs III in whatever order. My top tier is Jeudy and Lamb and then the second tier would be Jefferson and Ruggs III. I have Jefferson ahead of Ruggs III solely because I trust the size of a player like Jefferson more than the speed from Ruggs III. Speed is sometimes deceptive; look around at the NFL landscape, how many of the fastest players (at their respective positions) are the best or at the top? Now of course that is an even bigger debate, but for me I’ll trust a guy who is only 0.1sec slower but is a bigger human being.
Now, now is the time!
Let’s get this baby rolling!
Please note, I will not be predicting trades in this mock. Trades are inevitable, though with everything going on in the world this time around I wouldn’t be surprised if there are less trades than typically. My prediction, because that’s what this article is all about, is 5 trades.
Cincinnati Bengals — Joe Burrow, Quarterback Remember what I said about the Tagovailoa comparison above? Forget it! Cincinnati is going all in on the former Heisman, National Champion. Burrow has the ideal size that you want in a quarterback, and though he may be a touch older than the front office would like, with age comes maturity, and Cincinnati needs that and a vocal leader to bring them back to relevancy.
Washington Redskins — Chase Young, Defensive End Arguably the best player in the draft, and if it wasn’t for his (questionable) suspension in the middle of the Buckeyes season he would have set the NCAA sack record. Young is a generational edge rusher and adding him to an already loaded front in Washington will give you 2019 San Francisco vibes when the 49ers added Nick Bosa.
Detroit Lions — Jeff Okudah, Cornerback How does Matt Patrica want to build his team? All signs point to him chasing the successes he had in New England, and though that hasn’t worked for him, he’ll still keep trying… It’s unfortunate for Okudah as he is head and shoulders the top cornerback in this years class with a good combination of length, speed and aggressiveness. Just pull a Jalen Ramsey in a few years, Jeff!
New York Giants — Tristan Wirfs, Offensive Tackle As badly as the Giants need defensive playmakers, taking Wirfs, the most complete offensive tackle in the draft as well as an Iowa alum, seriously, check the track record of Iowa offensive lineman - they are tremendous! Wirfs will help solidify the picks of Saquon and Daniel Jones in the previous two drafts, Dave Gettleman’s job depends on it.
Miami Dolphins — Tua Tagovailoa, Quarterback The last time Miami passed on a shorter quarterback with a major injury the year prior was Drew Brees. Not this time. Tagovailoa is the player that Miami essentially set their sights on WAY back in September when they were getting blown out. Tank for Tua exists solely because of Miami. This is their guy, and if you think some late chatter is going to change their minds then you are dead wrong. Tagovailoa brings excitement and hope back to a Dolphins franchise that hasn’t had it since another Dolphin dawned #13.
Los Angeles Chargers — Justin Herbert, Quarterback Herbert is a calm, cool and collective guy. He’s not a rah-rah guy. I guess what I’m trying to say is, he’s a California guy. He fits the LA market to a T and aside from quarterback, that is exactly what the Chargers need, a market(able franchise quarterback). Herbert has all the intangibles that you want in a quarterback; I would compare him to a more accurate Josh Allen.
Carolina Panthers — Isaiah Simmons, Linebacker Out is Kuechly. In is Simmons. I don’t want to say that Simmons can replace Kuechly right off the bat, but he brings the sideline-to-sideline and passion to the game that is eerily similar. On top of that Simmons has the athleticism to play both safety spots as well as slot corner. Simmons is one of the few can’t-miss-prospects in this years draft. But just to throw some doubt (shade?) in your mind, remember that Seattle thought linebacker Aaron Curry was a can’t-miss-prospect in ’09.
Arizona Cardinals — Derrick Brown, Defensive Tackle First surprise of the draft! Most, if not all, have Arizona taking an offensive tackle to further protect Kyler Murray. I believe that the current offensive line that Arizona has put together is average, but there have been plenty of great offences, Super Bowl winning offences that win with an average o-line. Kyler has the escapability to make an average line good, just look within their division, Russell Wilson has had (at best) an average o-line his entire career. I give the nod to Brown here as it’s the defence of Arizona that needs to step up; aside from Chandler Jones and Patrick Peterson, Arizona needs an infusion of talent on the defensive side to truly soar.
Jacksonville Jaguars — Xavier McKinney, Safety The Jags are an interesting team in this years draft, as they are clearly rebuilding though there are so many positions that need to be filled/upgraded. I want to go offensive tackle here, but going with a pick that makes sense isn’t Jacksonville’s style. Under the Caldwell/Marrone regime defence has been there go-to in the 1st round. McKinney has the ability to play both safety spots as well as corner, he’s a player that can be thrust into the starting lineup and would feel seamless.
Cleveland Browns — Jedrick Wills Jr., Offensive Tackle Cleveland is the biggest beneficiary of Arizona and Jacksonville going against the grain as it’s been no secret that they are in desperate need for o-line help. New head coach Kevin Stefanski knows the difference what a good offensive line can do for a quarterback - just ask Kirk Cousins when he was the OC for Minnesota. Wills Jr. provides Cleveland with a winners mentality and is in the mix for the best tackle in this years draft. It’s a no-brainer.
New York Jets — Henry Ruggs III, Wideout The most glaring needs for the Jets have been offensive tackle and wideout, I went with the latter on this one, but not necessarily the name you thought. Ruggs III gets the nod here as New York and Darnold need a game changer at the wideout position, a true home run hitter. Ruggs III is what Robby Anderson could never develop to be. Adam Gase has a tendency to take risks in the 1st round, he has to hit eventually, right?
Las Vegas Raiders — Jerry Jeudy, Wideout It’s almost poetic that Jon Gruden selects a true number one receiver from Alabama after having a true number one receiver from… Alabama. Look, Gruden just wants to a build a team his way… I don’t want to say that Jeudy is an Amari Cooper clone, but… This is what I wrote about Cooper in 2015 “…Cooper is the best wideout in the draft and has the better hands and route running…”, now I know that wasn’t groundbreaking stuff, but it still holds true for Jeudy.
San Francisco 49ers — CJ Henderson, Cornerback There’s a reason San Francisco made the trade for a premium pick, my guess is that they know how good their defensive line is (plus how expensive it’s getting) but also know how their corners were exposed in the Super Bowl. As good of a corner Richard Sherman is, he’s never been a fast guy and with his speed starting to slip it’s time to find a successor. Enter Henderson who is a well sized corner with the only real issue being his tackling, but on a 49ers defense with their GM being a former DB with impeccable tackling skills, I think he’ll pick it up just fine.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers — Mekhi Becton, Offensive Tackle Easy, easy pick. Tampa needs to protect Brady at all costs. With Becton they easily get the highest ceiling lineman in the draft. Brady has a knack for making his tackles look elite, but with Becton, I don’t think he’ll need to try very hard.
Denver Broncos — CeeDee Lamb, Wideout Denver has been a good landing spot for a wideout, and the chips fall in that direction as well. Lamb is arguably the best wideout in this years class with great hands, route running and body control. He’ll be added to an offensive that could be sneaky good with a ton of young talent; add in Lamb alongside Sutton, Fant and the big arm of Lock and they could be building something special in Denver.
Atlanta Falcons — Andrew Thomas, Offensive Tackle Atlanta is in limbo with this pick, do they go along the defensive line which they have swung and missed too many times, or do they go along the offensive line where they’ve dealt with injuries the last few seasons? Here I’m going with the local Georgia Bulldogs kid, Andrew Thomas. In him, Atlanta finally finds a bookend tackle to pair with Jake Matthews. Atlanta was at it’s best when they were scoring a ton of points, and signing Todd Gurley to a 1-year deal tells me that that is the direction they want to go.
Dallas Cowboys — Cesar Ruiz, Centre Even with a ton of defensive linemen still on the board, Dallas stays true to themselves and drafts the best centre in the draft to replace Travis Frederick to his shockingly but unsurprising retirement. Similar to Tyron Smith back in 2011, Ruiz is a young player at just 20, but with Dallas’ elite offensive line, Ruiz will fit right in and learn from some of the absolute best.
Miami Dolphins — Javon Kinlaw, Defensive Line Miami adds a gem at the 18th spot with Kinlaw, who has outstanding length, size and explosiveness for a man his size. For as bad as Miami was last year, they are building something special down there in South Beach. With the free agent acquisitions and adding game changer draft picks, maybe Flores was right in selling the farm last year to restock in this years draft.
Las Vegas Raiders — Yetur Gross-Matos, Defensive End Mike Mayock loves the potential and the versatility, Gross-Matos (underrated name) gets the nod as he has tremendous upside with the ability to add to his already 6’5 frame. Playing him opposite last years picks in Ferrell and Crosby, Oaklan…uhh Las Vegas starts to build depth along a defensive line that can match up against a trending upward division that is the AFC West.
Jacksonville Jaguars — Kenneth Murray, Linebacker Despite the addition of Joe Schobert, the Jags look to further strengthen their linebacking core. Murray needs development in coverage, though that is typically anchored by Myles Jack. Murray has the potential to develop into a hybrid of Schobert and Jack as he is the perfect blend of athleticism and instincts.
Philadelphia Eagles — Justin Jefferson, Wideout Philadelphia may have shown their hand a little bit in addressing the cornerback position through free agency and acquiring Slay, so it’s no secret (or surprise) that they target a wideout in the 1st round. Jefferson exploded this past year for LSU as he provides the perfect blend of speed, size and hands. He will finally provide Wentz with a reliable, healthy target that he has needed throughout his entire tenure of being an Eagle.
Minnesota Vikings — K’Lavon Chaisson, Defensive Line Out with the old and in with the new! Minnesota and Everson Griffen opted to mutually part ways this off-season and though corner and wideout may be a bigger priority, they are pleasantly surprised to see Chaisson still available this late in the draft. Chaisson already has the move and explosion to excel at the d-end position, the one thing he needs is a bit more mass. The challenge is accept by head coach Mike Zimmer who has a knack in getting the most out of his front seven.
New England Patriots — Zack Baun, Linebacker Baun is the typical do-everything-player that Belichick absolutely loves (though you’d never know). Baun plays best as an outside backer with experience rushing off the edge, think Mike Vrabel in his prime and to a lesser extent, Tedy Bruschi. I know some are thinking Jordan Love here, but I suspect that Belichick is holding on with his belief in Jarrett Stidham; I also believe that if Jalen Hurts is available in the second that’s when New England would give thoughts to upgrading their quarterback position.
New Orleans Saints — Jordan Love, Quarterback Drew Brees is done after this year, right? I mean, how much more heartbreak can this man sustain… Sean Payton finally finds the real successor to Brees (sorry Taysom) in Love. Love has the potential and the raw ability to be great in this league, though I do feel he needs a little seasoning, and who better to learn from then one of the all-time greats. Patrick Mahomes has been the lazy comparison for Love, to me I feel he fits more of a Cam Newton mold; time will tell.
Minnesota Vikings — Josh Jones, Offensive Tackle Minnesota has been trying to revamp their line for what feels like a few years now. Jones gives them a potential impact blocker for the future. The knock on him is that he is a raw player that needs to improve in the running game, which can be viewed as a knock as Minnesota loves to run the ball, but with an elusive back like Cook and a more statuesque quarterback in Cousins, Minnesota opts for improvement in the pass game.
Miami Dolphins — Lucas Niang, Offensive Tackle Miami wisely invests in an offensive tackle after securing their quarterback of the future in Tagovailoa. Niang is one of the most well-rounded tackle prospects in the draft, though he doesn’t have eye-popping measurements he has the ability to grow and be a day one starter for the Dolphins.
Seattle Seahawks — Trevon Diggs, Cornerback Seattle is always a hard team to predict, as they either, by an analysts standpoint, reach for a guy that would have been available in later rounds (see Bruce Irvin, James Carpenter, Rashaad Penny…) or they trade out of the spot all together. This year however they take a corner with a ton of upside and can be a bit of hothead and/or vocal (like his brother, Stefon). Diggs brings a ton of athleticism, which is perfect as sometimes his aggressiveness gets in the way.
Baltimore Ravens — Patrick Queen, Linebacker Baltimore missed more than they thought when CJ Mosley cashed in a year ago. Queen has a winning pedigree and will give Baltimore exactly what they were missing when they got gashed continuously by Derrick Henry in the playoffs. Queen isn’t at the Ray Lewis level of linebacker, though I can see him easily matching (if not passing) the level that was Mosley.
Tennessee Titans — Austin Jackson, Offensive Tackle Sometimes it’s as easy as addition from subtraction. Tennessee didn’t want to shell out top dollar for Jack Conklin who, in his own right is a very good tackle, but the price tag was out of reach. Jackson fills the void, and though he has some deficiencies; he has room to bulk and add strength, he won’t be asked to take the premier left tackle spot as Taylor Lewan has that position locked down.
Green Bay Packers — Tee Higgins, Wideout Aaron Rodgers needs another receiver. Aaron Rodgers can’t do it all himself. Aaron Rodgers expresses frustration with his receiving core… There are dozens of these statements and all showcase the same thing, Aaron Rodgers needs help, and that’s ok! Who doesn’t?! Higgins give Rodgers a big-bodied redzone threat that he has never had (at the wideout position). He won’t light you up with his speed, however his catch radius is phenomenal. He reminds me of another former Clemson Tiger, Mike Williams.
San Francisco 49ers — Jeremy Chinn, Safety It was a coin flip between Jeremy Chinn and Grant Delpit. Both are two of the bigger safeties in the draft, and both can play multiple positions, the difference is what those other positions are; where Delpit is more finesse, Chinn brings the hammer as he can play the hybrid safety/linebacker position. Infuse Chinn into a Robert Saleh defence and the potential is endless.
Kansas City Chiefs — Kristian Fulton, Cornerback The lone weakness working against Kansas City is their secondary, they have elite and depth at almost all positions aside from cornerback, nothing close to a lockdown corner. Fulton sticks to his receivers like glue; press coverage is unbelievable. His only real knock is he has above-average speed and was suspended for a year, que the Marcus Peters comparisons. Andy Reid has never been wavered by character issues.
Well there you have it!
Thank you for taking the time to read my prediction for the 1st Round in this years 2020 NFL Draft. If you have been reading since the start back in 2013, thank you for the support.
This year should definitely be an interesting year, as we will be witnessing the first every virtual draft. How will it go down? Will it get hacked? Did the NFL really need to announce that Roger Goodell will be making the picks from his basement which is probably a palace? Tune in!
Enjoy the draft next Thursday ladies and gentlemen! There is literally no excuse seeing as we are all locked inside, and unless Netflix releases Tiger King: The Exotic Return, we’ll all be tuning in #ratings
