Edie's backstory:

Edie and her parents had been living in England for quite some time, but at home, they always spoke German. This meant that Edie grew up bilingual. Back when she lived with her "parents," she was constantly busy cleaning the house and trying to keep up with her parents. From a very young age, Edie had to take care of many household chores. Her father was sent off to war when it began, leaving Edie to live alone with her mother.

However, her mother didn't like Edie. She called her lazy and cheeky and regularly physically abused her, despite Edie doing her best for her age. Since her mother didn't work, they quickly ran out of money for food. Her mother usually ate everything, leaving Edie with very little to eat. She became emaciated, and when she did have something to eat, she had to ration it throughout the day and hide it.

Her mother was a neglectful parent. When the war reached their area, Edie hid in the house. When a bomb struck nearby, their house collapsed. Her mother died instantly, but Edie managed to hide somehow. She was trapped under the rubble, and a piece of wall hit her, knocking her unconscious.

The family of her friend George-Daniel , who lived nearby, knew each other well. They knew her father was away at war, so they searched the rubble for Edie and her mother. George-Daniel's father, who couldn't join the war due to illness, found Edie's mother dead. Meanwhile, little George and his mother continued to search for Edie until they found her trapped under the rubble. They carefully removed the debris and lifted her gently. They took her to a relief camp set up for survivors, where Edie received proper care. George-Daniel never left her side during her recovery.

From that point on, the Pride family decided to adopt Edie. During her recovery, doctors mentioned that she would likely have significant head injuries, leading to some of her memory loss.
