Tom pulled the blanket over the baby carrier as the rest of the family settled into their seats; Tom turned on the speaker and pulled it into the car trying to find the best place for it and not wake up little Andrew. You lightly smacked him on the shoulder and pointed at the car radio. “We don’t need that old thing,” you reminded him.

Tom bristled, as if you were calling him old, instead of the speaker. “This is a piece of history. I was telling the children earlier…” Three little groans sounded from the rear seat; you chuckled to yourself. “Well, maybe we should just go home then,” Tom teased.

“No!” Lucas shouted. Andrew stirred and you frowned at Lucas who whispered “Sorry Mommy, but I wanna stay and watch da movie!”

“Daddy was just teasing us,” Amelia told him. “We’re gonna stay and eat our popcorn and candy and watch the movies!” Madeline cheered quietly and clapped her hands at this announcement.

Amelia whined. “I can’t see over you guys!”

You giggled and whispered back. “Lucas will be out first, just you watch.”

“Madeline,” came his sing-songy response.

And with that Andrew woke up with a loud cry.
