The subway platform was crowded as always, but one tall, blonde mop of hair stood out to you just a few feet away. He looked as smug as ever, even while glancing down at his watch in what appeared to be exasperation.

"Thompson?" you called out in confirmation before you could stop yourself.

His ears perked up and his eyes widened as he identified your voice, taking a few steps towards you. "y/l/n." he addressed, but quickly flinched. It was then you noticed the two figures that flanked him; in particular, how the woman swatted her hand at his shoulder.

"Jack! Is that anyway to address a lady?" she exclaimed, shaking her head.

"Sorry, Ma." he spoke over his shoulder. "Uh, y/n, h-how are you?" he asked, somewhat taken aback. "Ma, Pa, this is y/n y/l/n, we work together. y/n, these are my parents."

"It's really nice to meet you Mr. and Mrs. Thompson." you said, reaching your hand out to shake hands with his parents.

As she shook your hand tightly, Jack's mother's face lit up with recognition. "Oh, y/n! Jack has told us so much about you!"

You couldn't help but chuckle, knowing your tense work relationship with their son. "I'm sure all bad things."

"On the contrary, dear." she laughed herself. "All we hear is 'y/n this, y/n that.' How smart you are, talented as agent, how you've saved his skin on a number of occasions."

"Really now?" you preened, crossing your arms across your chest, unable to hold back your smirk.

Jack's face burned a bright red as he tried to take a calming breath. "No, Ma, don't tell her I said that about her." he ground out.

"No, no, please continue, Mrs. Thompson." you said.

This was a side of Jack you never thought you'd see, and you didn't want it to end now. Sadly, before she could continue you saw your train approaching. Your shoulders sagged in disappointment, but you noticed that the Thompsons also looked ready to board the same train.

"Are you heading uptown as well?" Mrs. Thompson asked, a hint of excitement and scheming in her eyes. "Would you like to join us for dinner, dear?"

Off to the side you could see Jack's jaw drop in shock, his face just returning to its normal shade. But despite that, you quickly nodded your head and linked arms with his mother. "I would love to!"

Well, this would be interesting.

Why I ship it or not: Hmm, if they had some more character development in canon then I'd like jamikali more. But anyway I prefer both Jamil and Kalim with other characters much more.

My opinion on their canon potential: OH ANGST GALORE! I like discussing jamikali, but ultimately the power imbalance and unresolved bitterness and resentment between them makes me feel disinclined to ship them.

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it: I like the cute and fluffy art of them. And angsty stuff as well but I don't actively go looking for jamikali.

Why I ship it or not: Because Azul has seen Jamil at his worst and despite everything genuinely wants to help him. I also think Azul's fondness for Jamil is a bit different from other Azul dynamics because Jamil's support won't actually help Azul much, since ultimately Jamil is still tied to the Asim family (for now), so Azul's persistence seems to run deeper than simply making contacts (imo at least)

My opinion on their canon potential: SO MUCH POTENTIAL BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH SUCH SNEAKY BITCHES. They'd be the nrc power couple. They're on the same wavelength and I am sure together they will be unstoppable as they rage against the world that wronged them. ;w; i love them so much aaaahh

My opinion on fanon interpretations/fandom around it: Hmm since it's a rarepair, I greedily eat everything anyone puts out. Mysterious Anon Mutual I'll be honest I don't remember what I said in a post or tags recently to bring on this confession but it was a nice surprise to receive a message to remind me I'm not the only one who has to live with the burden of having been a Hetalia fan in the past.

Because my anime journey began in like 2008/2009 (as in, moving past growing up on Pokemon, and seeing Dragon Ball Z on Nicktoons all the time and being introduced to like 4 parts of a show on Youtube subbed), Hetalia was of course one of the series I found since the anime came out at that time. I don't engage with the fandom at all anymore, and although I consumed every bit of it as a third or fourth grader I wasn't like contributing to the fandom at all. I loved the character songs, I read all the fanfics, but I consider myself not attached to the more majorly problematic parts of the fandom since I only cared about the Nordics, lol. It's really sad for me to think about the series tbh, and I've brought this up before, because cosplayers are doing "glow ups" or showing their first cosplay vs now and I can't do that because 1) I don't have any photos of mine because it was all on flip phones lost to time and 2) I was Iceland from Hetalia so if I do ever decide to just remake my Iceland cosplay to show my own growth as a cosplayer (even if I can't show old photos to compare to) I would have to attach a massive disclaimer to any post I make about it.

In terms of MysMe, I don't actually consider that to be cringey? I was engaged in the fandom at the time and remember when reset theory was first proposed but I didn't really contribute outside of one or two pieces of fan art. I'm more into Dandelion and kind of want Cheritz to release a new game already but they're still riding the MysMe money I guess.

As for Brother's Conflict, UNFORTUNATELY I AM WITH YOU. I watched Brother's Conflict around the time I was diving through a ton of otome game based anime, like Diabolik Lovers and Kamigami no Asobi (so like 2014 when KnA aired). I think the anime of Brother's Conflict is good because it doesn't end on any romantic route, although the opening visuals and the lyrics of both OP and ED are questionable. I just have to laugh at any series that has stepparents getting married without ever having their kids meet, because like WHO WOULD DO THAT, and especially in these shows because the like Ema's dad was close to her??? So why would he like SURPRISE HER and not tell her about the brothers in advance or have her meet the other half of the family??? Contrivances all of it. My favorite was Louis, since he was like the most put together and could speak to Juli, although I will admit I also looked into the game briefly and liked one of his CGs don't look at me if you know what I'm talking about. Semi would really like you because you're both really artistic and you're able to share that passion with him. I think he would be so inspired by your writing skills, he might even want to write songs with/for you.
