Prologue & Epilogue

OOC: Dropping mun’s first fanfiction in a decade featuring Judai and Johan before and after the events of Bonds Beyond Time.

The former Osiris Red student had been traveling the globe alone for almost a year now and had fallen out of touch with most of his schoolmates. He texted occasionally with O'Brien and Jim, mainly because they both felt the need to look after Judai as if he was their youngest brother. Asuka checked in once and a while, providing updates on her and Manjyome's lives. Kenzan texted when he could to update Judai on how quiet life had gotten at the Academy. Edo had badgered Judai into downloading Snapchat and they kept up with each other's adventures through brief pictures. The last Judai heard from Edo was a couple videos of Ryou moving in with him a few weeks prior. They'd made Judai laugh especially when he heard Sho complaining in the background. Despite Judai leaving without really saying goodbye, Johan had never drifted away. It was like Judai and Johan hadn't separated. Johan ensured they texted and called each other regularly while he was at university. Judai loved hearing about Johan's path to getting a degree in the history of dueling with a focus on ancient Rome. Apparently, his university had a acquired a few artifacts from an old nameless kingdom. They consisted of some golden braces and a gold-platinum sword which eerily matched this old mask Johan's family had kept for generations.

Johan didn't mind staying up till odd hours just to talk depending on what time zone Judai was in. Judai didn't care about keeping odd hours either, especially if Johan needed to talk after a nightmare or a bad day. He'd found himself keeping a clock of Oslo's time zone on his home screen and sending postcards to Johan when he remembered to.

Regardless of the miles between them, the connection he had with Johan only grew. Judai admitted to himself he missed his best friend more than anyone else. He'd said multiple times that he wished Johan could travel with him.

Judai shouldn't have been surprised with what happened in Venice. He traveled there following a lead about someone who'd stolen Ryou's Cyber End Dragon.

He'd just finished asking a batch of local workers if they had seen or heard of a mysterious masked stranger stealing Duel Monster cards. Then Johan called and after a few minutes of talking, Johan asked Judai to describe his surroundings. "Well if you'd just video call me, I could just show you." Judai pouted. "Judai, I told you my camera isn't working after I dropped it. Come on, I wanna hear about it." Johan dragged out the syllables in his name teasingly. Judai sighed, signalling that he agreed to humour his best friend. The giggle he heard from Johan made him smile involuntarily. "Well, I just walked out of a big library and behind me are two very tall columns with different statues on them... They both have wings?" Judai trailed off as his description of his surroundings turned into a question. Johan laughed, "You're the one who's there! And that big library is called the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana." Judai smiled, he liked the sound of Johan's Italian. He noticed windy feedback on Johan's end. "Are you on your run or something?" Judai inquired, reminding himself how more than a few times they'd caught up while Johan was working out. "Yep, I called you right before I walked out of my place," Johan confirmed before adding, "now go on." Judai rolled his eyes, "There are plenty of tourists around and jeez these people like their fancy archways. I'll have to send you a picture." "Ha, please do. I love that there's all these religious details and then they just have four horses randomly on the centre arch." "I know, right?" Judai glanced up at them before asking, "Have you been here before?" "Not until today." Judai's brain didn't process that the source of Johan's voice had changed for a second. He'd opened his mouth to question his best friend and then his heart felt like it was going to burst out of his chest, his brain screaming at him to turn around.

So he did.

And his heart soared.

"Johan."

"Judai."

Closing the small distance between them, the two boys embraced each other. They both laughed joyfully, lost in their own little bubble. Judai even picked Johan up and twirled him around. They didn't realise the few kind looks they received from tourists and locals alike. Another couple was walking toward the water and looked knowingly at each other.

"What are you even- don't you have university or work?" Judai wondered, this was the last thing he'd expected to happen today. He was so thankful to see Johan in person instead of on a tiny screen! He was considerably taller than him now too! He held on to Johan's arms, not wanting to break their connection as if the bluenette would disappear. "I did this crazy thing called finishing a school year?" Johan teased before adding, "I was planning to come find you no matter where you were since I'd have the time. It's been too long and I... I really needed to see you." Judai smiled softly, he was so touched. He'd desperately missed having Johan by his side. As much as he appreciated Hane Kuriboh, his professor, Pharaoh, and the other duel spirits, Judai wanted to be with people that didn't exist on another plain of existence. Moreover, he missed getting lost in those emerald eyes. "I needed to see you too, Johan." Neither spoke for a beat, something unspoken shared between their souls. They were happy to just be in the moment with each other.

Johan would've been the first to break the silence had not Ruby Carbuncle and Hane Kuriboh appeared angrily looking in the direction of a plaza. Swooping over their heads with a piercing metal screech, was a darkened version of Cyber End Dragon. Its tail running through the central part of the library Judai was just in. Everyone in the streets began screaming and sprinting in directions away from the dragon. Within seconds Judai and Johan had dropped their respective bags. They loaded and activated their duel disks in sync before calling out their ace monsters. "Let's go Elemental Hero Neos!" "Come on out, Rainbow Dragon!" The two monsters shimmered into existence, Judai tapped into the powers given to him by the Supreme King to materialise the monsters into real beings.

Whoever was doing this had some serious power behind them.

Rainbow Dragon allowed Neos to fly near his head as the two sped towards Cyber End Dragon, their powers charging. However, before either could act, an unfamiliar pearly dragon appeared and rammed Rainbow Dragon into the ground in a flurry of stardust. The force sent Johan and Judai to the ground as Crystal Beasts and Elemental Heroes appeared around them.

"RAINBOW DRAGON!" Johan cried out. He pushed himself forcibly to his feet so he could run to his largest family member. Before he could sprint, Rainbow Dragon disappeared in a flash of light along with his respective card. The remaining dragons flew upwards and began circling the city. Neos barely had time to move out of danger's way and touched back down in the crater Rainbow Dragon was in.

"No... No. No! NO!" A chorus of denial sang from the Crystal Beasts and their Protector who fell to his knees.

Amethyst Cat roared alongside with Topaz Tiger before lying around Johan. Ruby Carbuncle cried as she climbed into Johan’s arm and he cradled her. Emerald Tortoise settled himself next to Topaz before shrinking into his shell in an effort to hide his tears. Cobalt Eagle landed atop Emerald with a strained call. Sapphire Pegasus and Amber Mammoth flanked their family closely, both crestfallen.

Judai watched the group mourn for a moment before moving to throw an arm around Johan. His best friend leaned into the touch and let his tears fall, his shoulders jerking. Judai had felt Rainbow Dragon disappear and couldn't sense him with any of his powers. He looked to his heroes and they shared looks of awe and disbelief. He could barely process what had just happened or how in the world something could defeat Rainbow Dragon that quickly. Where did the card go? Who was doing this and why?

A few minutes passed like this and Judai got the feeling there was more to Johan and his family's reaction. Something had been wrong as of late... Judai wondered if it related to the bad dreams Johan had that he hadn't even wanted to describe. Suddenly, Johan stood and turned, startling Judai and the duel spirits around them. "Sapphire. Cobalt. We're going up to get some answers. I’m not letting this happen again." His tone was firm as he made to mount Sapphire, Ruby hopping out of his arms and onto Sapphire's back. To Johan's shock Sapphire denied him, "You can't be reckless, we don't know what we're facing." "He's right," Amethyst chimed in, her voice painted with sadness, "we have to think about this." "We're not all being separated again." Amber added. Judai felt unknown guilt flood him at the idea of the Crystal Beasts being separated. Johan began to protest when Topaz growled back toward the sky. Everyone turned to witness a darkened Rainbow Dragon emerge from gathered clouds. A maniacal laugh echoed above. Emerald emerged, murmuring, "Judai Yuki..." His words carried more than a name. Emerald's tone and eyes asked Judai for an answer. For a hero.

Judai nodded and flashed a reassuring smile. “I'll bring Rainbow Dragon back! This guy won't know what hit him!”

Johan spun towards Judai, his face a conglomerate of incredulous, concerned anger.

“You're not going in there alone!”

Judai scoffed, rolling his eyes and taking a few backwards steps towards the chaos, “I won't be! I've got duel spirits too you know.”

“Judai! Whoever that is you can't duel them by yourself!”

“Watch me, Duel Academy prepared me for crises. Plus, if they're after rare spirits, you have to protect them and keep them away from the fight.” Judai motioned to the worried Crystal Beasts.

“Judai, I swear to- Fine! I'll use my Gem Knights then, that way their cards don't-”

"I CAN'T lose you again!" Judai implored and almost screamed, his eyes flashing gold.

Johan looked taken aback, his eyes, red and glassy from crying, widened. Judai followed his impulse to close the distance between Johan and him. He took Johan's face in his hands and pressed their foreheads together.

"Johan... You have to be safe, I can't duel, let alone think clearly at the thought of losing you, seeing you hurt like this..." Judai's eyes stared into Johan's emerald ones, willing him to understand.

Off in the distance, sounds of buildings crashing, dragon roars, and people screaming were heard. The two didn't have time to speak what their hearts yearned for.

Johan wrapped his arms around Judai's waist and squeezed him tight. They both shut their eyes for a beat.

“Go save Rainbow Dragon… and the world too while you're at it.” Johan relented, eliciting a chuckle from Judai.

“As you wish.” Judai joked, his eyes opening to see Johan's beautiful green eyes and a ghost of a smile. He was thankful to see those eyes.

“I'll wait for you here.” Johan loosened his grip so Judai could step away.

Judai smiled and made his “Gotcha” sign before sprinting towards the Piazza San Marco.

With a grin, Judai waved to Yusei as the latter started up his D-wheel and sped through a portal back to his time. Feeling the breeze pick up, Judai turned and observed his surroundings. He was back in Venice and the sun was setting, washing the buildings with shades of gold. His heart had settled after the intense duel with Paradox and once in a lifetime chance to tag duel with the King of Games. His smile wouldn't leave his face as he thought of all the incredible combos they pulled off to save their respective timelines. As Judai relived the duel, his thoughts were stolen by how Paradox had corrupted Rainbow Dragon also known as the reason Judai battled the villain in the first place. He pulled out his deck and flipped the top card. "It's good to see you, friend." Judai murmured to the card. He felt the dragon's gratitude channeled towards him before he heard what sounded like an ancient voice question him. "My protector, I am sure, is worried about both of us." The dragon ventured, echoing in his mind. At those words, Judai's heart started beating erratically and he clutched the cards in his hand tighter. Johan... With a quick movement, the cards were back in the deck box he kept clipped to his belt and Judai took off towards the place he'd last saw his best friend.

Gratefully, he admired how it seemed the destruction Paradox caused earlier disappeared because now he could appreciate the view. There weren’t many people lingering around. Judai wondered if anyone remembered how close they came to danger or if Time’s magic had interfered.

Either way, he could make out the silhouette of his best friend looking out over the water. Only Ruby sat on his shoulders now. Judai felt in his soul that he’d made this walk to Johan many times in this life and the one previous. He didn’t know very much about his past as the Supreme King besides the dreams he sometimes had. Once in a while, something might trigger a memory, but those moments were few and far between in this past year.

This was one of those moments. It was brief, but as the sunset shifted from golds to reds, Judai swore he saw Johan in glittering armour complete with a cape billowing in the wind.

As quick as it came, the illusion faded away as Ruby turned his way, alerting Johan of Judai’s return.

“What is it, Ruby?” Johan murmured, inclining his head towards her.

She chirped happily before disappearing to the plane duel spirits existed on. Judai assumed that’s where the other Crystal Beasts were along with his own duel spirits. He could hardly feel any of their presences, he wasn’t even sure Pharaoh was nearby?

They were purposefully leaving Judai alone with Johan.

Judai was good with that.

Johan turned to him, his eyes full of concern, doubt, hope, and something else Judai couldn’t decipher.

“Judai…”

Judai stopped an arm’s distance from Johan, trying his best to keep a straight face. Ultimately, he failed the second he reached back for his deck and pulled out Rainbow Dragon’s card. He smiled reassuringly and held it out for Johan.

“You did it!” Johan carefully took the card and held it to his heart. “I knew you would, but I was- we were all so worried, but when the buildings went back to normal I- How did you do it? What happened? I...I don’t know how to thank you.” Johan rushed through his words, his bright smile making Judai smile even bigger.

“It was no problem, I’d do anything for you!” Judai admitted happily as he watched Johan return the precious card to his deck. A dim rainbow halo emit briefly from the deck and the duelists knew things were back to normal.

They looked back at each other and laughed, pulling one another in for a victory hug. Johan’s arms wrapped around Judai’s neck while Judai’s went round Johan’s waist.

“You’re my best friend.” Johan said softly after a minute, making no move to end the embrace.

Judai responded by holding Johan a little tighter. His heartbeat pounded as something in his mind clicked into place. Judai couldn’t help but smile as he realised what he was about to do. This was something his heart and soul had known longer than his brain. Now, Judai wouldn’t let himself leave this spot without putting it into words.

“You’re mine…” Judai said finally, matching Johan’s tone. “Hey, I have an idea on how you could thank me.” He added playfully.

Johan pulled back and suspicion was etched on his face along with an unknowing smile. “What did you have in mind?”

Johan withdrew his arms from their hug only to have Judai take both of his hands into his. Judai loved seeing the blush which crept on Johan’s cheeks. Judai could feel his own cheeks burn at the what he was about to do.

“Just listen for a second, okay?” Judai asked.

Johan gave him a small nod. His emerald eyes were wide and his pupils dilated as he searched Judai’s face for a hint.

Taking a deep breath, Judai started, “I got to tag duel with Yugi Mutou and my new friend from the future Yusei against the jerk who stole Rainbow Dragon. It was incredible that we got to work together and meet up despite being from different times. Afterward we talked about how, somehow, we’d meet again because the friendship we made defies time.”

Johan reacted to everything Judai said and clearly had tons of questions from the way his jaw dropped. At the mention of defying time, Johan’s expression grew more serious, as if he was remembering something.

“And it’s just… such a cool thought that people can do that. No matter the adversity or what the world throws at us, people find their way back to each other.” Judai interlaced their fingers together at that and held his gaze on them.

“Johan, you’re… I’m sorry for yelling at you earlier, I realised in that moment… No I think I’ve known for a while that I… I’ve learned so much this past year being on my own. Most of all I learned how important you are to me. I care about everyone else from school too and our duel spirits. But you and I go through so much together and you’ve always been here for me even with continents and evil between us.”

Judai paused and looked back into Johan’s eyes, “I wish I had the words sooner and no matter what you say, I just hope you can let me stay in your life. I want to protect you and be by your side for as long as you’ll let me because... I’m in love with you. I have been a long time, so long that-”

“You don’t remember when you started?” Johan finished for Judai. The look on his face was one Judai will never forget because he knew that the love he felt for Johan was reflecting back at him. Their faces were a couple inches away.

Judai grinned, “Exactly...”

With that, they both leaned in and kissed each other tenderly. Johan disentangled one of his hands to cradle Judai’s face while Judai’s free hand found its way around Johan’s waist. They both smiled into their series of kisses, breathless and happy.

“I love you, Judai.”

“I love you too, Johan.”

Day 5- RP Advent Calendar

Original credit goes to this RP Advent Calendar for the format and idea. In an effort to spread a little holiday cheer I will be posting little some personal RP tidbits on a whole range of topics from now until Christmas! If anyone wants to join in on the holiday fun feel free to follow along, edit it however you’d like or come up with some of your own prompts!

By far two of the most outstanding male character’s I’ve had the pleasure of writing with are DARYL DIXON and JACK McMASTER. (and for the record -no- it’s not because they both have Norman Reedus faceclaims).

Let’s begin with JACK McMASTER, the first ever character I wrote with on tumblr. So naturally I have a major soft spot in my heart for this beautiful Mun and Muse. During our time in an RPG he was the mischievous younger brother of IAN McMASTER. And the only one in the group who inherently distrusted MAYSILEE, an interesting dynamic and one that I haven’t had the pleasure of writing with anyone else. Since the division of the RPG Jack has become a multi-ship/verse muse with an affinity to wander. And yes that’s super vague so feel free to check this out for more info because I tried and failed to explain how intricate he really is! Always the observer, I find it extremely hard to pin point this character (even after all these years) -which makes him fascinating to me.

Now I haven’t had the pleasure of actually writing with DARYL DIXON a lot (due to the fact that none of my muses overlapped with his until I created VINCE.) But that hasn’t stopped me from reading most of Daryl’s threads when they came across my dash. See for anyone that doesn’t know the Mun behind the mask deserve’s a goddamn medal in my opinion for the dedication to her canon-muse. Not only does she write him to a T, but she takes her time in replies so that no detail is overlooked. quiet frankly she can paint a better picture with words than Bob Ross could ever dream of. Daryl’s personality, looks and headcannon’s all fit perfectly to TWD canon character. Or rather the canon character we all love and see on TV fits perfectly within her Daryl. But check out his verses and you’ll see him blend just as seamlessly into a number of other worlds, check them out here!

...Yeah, in the end I guess you could say I’m pretty obsessed with these two dorks. (but I definitely love the Mun's just as much)

hc; velka + the gods

This is an edited version of a post sent to sosayethlight as part of our “let’s shoot the shit about gods” discussion, and it is massive. Don’t embark on this if you’re not ready for an extensive description of Velka’s presence as a religious figure. All headcanon, as usual, because we’re supposed to be doing the fun here, not creating a wiki.

G-mun’s original question, in summary, was “What do Velka’s holidays look? What gifts are left at her shrines, or simply placed out for her; if such things are done? What do her worshippers expect from her? What do these worshippers look like, when they aren’t pardoners… And are they worshippers, or propitators?”

The thing that underpins my entire interpretation of the gods is my pre-existing knowledge of the norse pantheon and my inability not to match them up to one another. Solaire is an obvious Thor character, a well meaning, headstrong warrior with a love of fun, wine and bashing stuff; selfless to a fault but also somehow really kind of tunnel-vision in how he goes about things. Gwyn is my Odin, self sacrificing father-figure, though Gwyn sacrificed his whole being rather than his eye. They’re both equally ominous, you can never be quite sure of his reasoning or whether he’d put his love for his family over his own power. Gwynevere is my Idun, not a fighter, but no less important - she’s a mellow, sunny kind of gal who looks after things, in Idun’s case it would be her apples, and by extension, her family, in Gwynevere’s case, it would be her people - and also her family. Gwyndolin, oh man, I love to picture Gwyndolin as a twisted Baldr, bitter and blind to his own beauty, fragile in comparison to other gods, but still a god himself. Let’s throw in an honourable mention to Sif, who is named after one norse god, but who bears a striking resemblance to the Fenris-wolf.

So, where does Velka fit in here?

Velka is my Loki. I cannot even begin to explain my thoughts on Loki - but Velka is controversial, misunderstood, indifferent to people’s petty emotional struggles, a true neutral with no time for niceties. She is a spy, not a fighter; a joker, an overlooked observer who is rarely taken as seriously as she should be. She could rival Gwyn if she had the mind to, but as Loki owes much to Odin, so does Velka feel a sense of loyalty to Gwyn - so that wouldn’t happen, despite any trouble she might cause. She is balance, justice and truth at all costs. Like Loki, she has two aspects; one is the judge, and if she were only this aspect, she’d be a respected patron deity. This aspect is all about justice and fairness, an ideal patron for anyone interested in law or charity work. But her second aspect overshadows the first by miles, and that is her equivalent world-breaker aspect. This is what I meant by “at all costs”. Do not pray to her for help in overcoming an enemy if you hold a shred of blame yourself. Do not ask her to fix anything for you unless you’re prepared for her to burn down your current life and rebuild it. You should, as one of her followers, aspire to possess the self-assurance to objectively judge and fix your own life. Ask her to remove one harmful influence for you, and she will destroy it to remove them all at once. She is not a believer in painting over damaged walls. Her destruction is always in the name of fairness, though - she will never put you through more than she believes you are capable of taking. Stay with her and follow her guidance, and the result will be better than you could have imagined. You will go through hell - but keep going.

Because she is not a god you can just ask for things from, less clever newcomers to her service have often been burned by unexpected side effects of her influence. Their outrage and displeasure spreads like wildfire and by now, her worshippers are a handful of invisible, understanding individuals, who respect the good and the damage she can do. To the wider population, Velka is the patron of stupid edgy teenagers. If you imagine slightly ignorant old people irl who think satan worship is about being vocally alternative and goth and cool, this is pretty much how Velka and her followers are seen. Most see no reason to admire her when there are more accessible, “family friendly” gods to turn their attention to, so they dismiss anyone who does as either a fool or potentially dangerous. In reality, they’re a group of misfits - their lives have taken turns that led to her, and there are as many examples of events that might cause that as there are people. They tend to be highly individualistic, non-traditional and are often, but certainly not always, “undesirables”. So, to return to what you actually asked, Velka’s holidays are near-invisible. More social events are organised quietly - not in secret, anyone is welcome to join, though few dare approach to find out how, which doesn’t help their reputation for secrecy. Often, they will take the form of masked balls or similar, since your face and status aren’t as important as your actions and intent. Velka is an admirer of anything extravagant, so costumes, food and copious amounts of wine are often involved. As long as her followers’ personal freedoms don’t impinge on anyone else’s, they are free to do whatever they like, provided it doesn’t do undeserved harm - so these parties are in no way over-formal or sober. The timing would likely be somewhere around Halloween, for the likeness of the longer nights, clear autumn skies and full moons to her Carim home. It bears a few more similarities as well, in that she finds graveyards and places with links to death to be ideal settings due to their constant background reminder that all of those present will die - none are above one another in that regard, death is the ultimate equaliser. The gathering itself is a dedication to her, so no additional offering is required, so long as they acknowledge that their way of life and their presence there is granted by her and approved by no one else. Whether or not they are worshippers is entirely down to them - if they see themselves as such, then they are. If they prefer to think of themselves as followers, or something else, that’s fine, too. Her heavy emphasis on freedom and personal choice means they are comfortable with each others’ differences, and there’s very little infighting over who does it “right”. She would never say it because she truly believes all her followers equal, but she finds her solitary followers to be a little more equal than the others; these are the ones who might join in with the festivities, but they feel closest to her when alone. These are the ones who are likely to become full time pardoners, and only the best of them are brought to her and given control of a regional church of hers. Their private rituals don’t follow a set pattern, but always have an emphasis on cleansing (rock salt and sage are common choices). Their shrines to her are often unmarked, as it started off as a safety measure to hide from less tolerant objectors and became a tradition that fit in nicely with the reasoning behind the masks. The colours associated with her are deep reds (courage and vitality - the darker shades another reminder of mortality in their resemblance to blood) and purples (mystery, royalty, spirituality, connection with intuition), though mostly black (death, stealth, stability) and silver (an opposite to Gwyn and the sun-gods’ gold). These can be incorporated in any number of ways, but are commonly added using candles of one or all of those colours, altar cloths or gemstones. Typically, any rituals in her name are done after dark and are meditative in purpose. This is why these followers are so valuable to her - their introspection and focus on applying her ideals to themselves before trying to project them outwardly makes them perfect candidates for the inner circle that makes up her “official” covenant. Their private rituals might be simply as described, or they might intensify them by fasting beforehand or using any other method they find improves it for them personally. It’s typically a much, much more intimate experience than the organised gatherings. This intimacy is reinforced for anyone who makes it to pardoner rank, as their confessionals are off-limits to other pardoners and to anyone else they don’t choose to admit, meaning their space is theirs alone and dedicated to her. Because of her rejection of specified gender roles, she’s a popular choice among “rebellious” women, “frail” men and anyone who unashamedly enjoys sex, so some of them will include sex magic in their rituals, which provides absolutely no practical value, but Velka quite likes the idea. It’s nice that they’re enjoying themselves, isn’t it?

Things left at her shrine are small, usually - silver jewellery, crow feathers, magpie feathers if they know her well enough to know that her personal pet is one of these. The meaning is more important than the item, so a shiny pebble is perfectly fine if it happens to remind the giver of her for some reason. Those who come from more mainstream backgrounds often mistakenly assume that actual sacrifices are common, but they aren’t. The act of a human or animal sacrifice is an offence to her in itself, as the individual has effectively stolen a life and given it to her, though it’s not theirs to give. The last thing I can think of to mention is that most of her followers don’t realise she was human herself once, but those that do don’t see it as all that important. It’s because she was one of them that there’s a general sense of her being closer to them than the greater Anor Londo gods. Velka personally visits the confessionals of her higher ranked pardoners herself, though their lifetimes pass her by so quickly, she doesn’t always get to see each one. Still though, it’s common enough for them to encounter her in person, especially if they’re closer to the city walls. That adds to the view that she’s not a “real” god and isn’t worth being treated as one, despite the fact she is.

SAMSUNG COMMERCIAL AD SHOOTING SCHEDULE!

The two new Sphere trainees, Joo Minhee and Song Jieun, have been added to #BEKIND and #BEBOLD teams respectively. The original post has already been edited to reflect the change. The two females will also be expected to have their hair dyed according to the instructions listed, and they're allowed to claim all points from February evals if they meet the requirements in time as well.

Other new trainees signed after them will not be able to participate in this month’s evaluation.

Shooting will begin on Sunday, March 12th, and last until Saturday, March 25th. The first team of each concept will shoot during the first week, while the second team will shoot throughout the second week. Shooting might last overnight, depending on the circumstances. Transportation to and from the locations will be provided by the staff.

Everyone was informed March 8th of their concepts, and they are expected to show up on set with a general idea of what they’re meant to do. They’ll be given some freedom to act out the scenario as they wish. They’re free to enact dialogue if they want, but keep in mind that their voices will be deleted off the files and there will only be music playing in the final cut. Remember that the point of the commercial is to promote the new Galaxy A7 series, so make sure to include the phones given to you on set in your plots. For every scenario, muns get to choose how their muse’s hair will be styled outside of any specifics given.

Each team receives the details about their concept secretly, and trainees are forbidden from sharing this information with the public, which includes posting photos of the set on SNS profiles or even vaguely boasting about the opportunity online.

In order to earn +4 SKILL POINTS TO DISTRIBUTE AS YOU WISH, +2 DEBUT POINTS and +2WK ACTING OR MODELING ACHIEVEMENT, write two four-post threads with teammates, two 250+ solos or one thread and one solo about the shooting process.

FIRST TEAM — SHOOTING MARCH 12TH

Concept: Members Ricky and Sohee are in love with each other, but are too shy to confess their attraction. Members Baekhyun and Jieqiong are the friends in charge of convincing the couple to get together.

The confession is set to happen in a coffee shop. There will also be scenes outside, showing the friends plotting a blind date, and using their phones to arrange it and talk the main couple into it.

Everyone will be styled in casual clothing: Sohee wearing a dress and Jieqiong wearing a tank top and jeans; Ricky wearing a classic shirt and jeans combo and Baekhyun wearing a polo shirt with black pants.

[ The shoot will take place in the actual settings described, and not on a set Samsung made. ]

They'll be taken to a back alley and to a park with benches and railing, and are expected to make full use of the scenery. The phones will be used to take photos and videos.

Everyone will be dressed in street style clothing, with things like flannel shirts, ripped jeans and combat boots. Seokjin will also be given a beanie to wear.

Concept: Members will have a party at an indoor beach set made specifically for the commercial, complete with sand and water and a green screen to provide a starry night sky the entire shooting.

They’ll gather around a campfire and roast marshmallows, take pictures of each other to commemorate the occasion, and also be expected to run into the water and take pictures to demonstrate the phone’s waterproof capabilities.

Everyone will be dressed in swimwear and other beachwear. They’ll also all have flower lei necklaces of varying colors, and KT’s Sunyoung will wear a matching lei flower crown.

Concept: friends on a road trip.

Members will pile into an SUV and will be shown driving through various areas with different scenery that constantly changes, as does the time of day, to demonstrate the passing of time. The friends will also be shown in different seats in the car, all of them alternating between driving and sleeping as the days go on.

Throughout it all, they’ll also alternate between filming the world passing outside the car (and each other) on their phones to document the trip.

Eventually, they’ll arrive at their destination, get out of the car, and all pose for a selfie together in front of the Grand Canyon.

Everyone will be dressed in casual, comfortable clothing suitable for travel, such as t-shirts, hoodies, sweatpants and jeans. They’ll also have blankets, pillows and snacks for props (and actually eat at their own risk.)

[ Sadly, Samsung will not be flying the team to the Grand Canyon to shoot the commercial; it will be CGI. The entire shooting will take place on a set with a green screen, and most of the commercial will be shot from a perspective inside the car. ]

FIRST TEAM — SHOOTING MARCH 13TH

Concept: Creative people of different kinds will be shown practicing their craft in different locations and sending pictures and excerpts to the other members over text for feedback.

Heegun will be working on a sculpture, Yubin will be working on a splatter painting, Jinri will be shown writing poetry in a notebook, and Seulgi will be sketching in a sketchbook. At different times, they’ll look stumped, then take a picture of what they’re working on, and one of the other members will stop what they’re doing to check their phone and send an encouraging response back. The recipient will smile, and return to their work with renewed inspiration and energy.

They’ll be styled in a way that matches the image of each project they’ll work on. Jinri will wear thick-rimmed glasses, a sweater, and floral skirt. Heegun will wear a long-sleeved shirt and old jeans. Yubin will wear a tie-dyed t-shirt and frayed shorts, while Seulgi will wear a cardigan, white t-shirt, and dark jeans.

Concept: All members will be shown preparing for a spontaneous rooftop party, decorating the empty rooftop from top to bottom.

They’ll move recycled furniture into the venue, and hang up white Christmas lights and paper lanterns. They’ll all step back to look at the finished product and it’ll seem a little bare, so they’ll gather around Chorong as she Googles ‘DIY decoration ideas’ on her phone.

A quick montage of them gathering the necessary supplies and following the directions for the ideas later, and they’ll step back again to admire the full and complete setting of the party, now including their newly-made decorations.

The party will be full of guests for the last scene, Jinwook on a keyboard and Chorong on tambourine in one corner of the rooftop. They’ll try to encourage party-guests to come up and sing spontaneously with them, and Aron will oblige. Sooyoung and Rose watch on in the audience, laughing and filming the entire thing.

They will be styled casually but stylishly, in jeans and t-shirts for the guys, and jeans and blouses for the girls, each outfit different in style and color. Jinwook will be given a leather anchor necklace to wear.

[ All scenes will be shot in sets made specifically by Samsung for the commercial, including the main set for the rooftop party, and a smaller set to mimic a store in order to film the quick ‘getting supplies’ montage. ]

FIRST TEAM — SHOOTING MARCH 14TH

Concept: Members are co-workers in a high class business, working hard and proving that Samsung’s new phones are suitable for more than just play.

They’ll all be seated at a table in a conference room except Jonghyun, their boss, who will stand at the front of the room, going over several diagrams on a projector screen with the other employees. He’ll give Jongsuk instructions, and Jongsuk will then reach for the phone at the center of the table, and demonstrate the new phone’s conference call feature. Jonghyun will then sit down at the head of the table, and they’ll be shown continuing the conference call, all contributing their ideas.

In the final scene, the call will end, and Jonghyun will dismiss all of the employees from the meeting with some final instructions. He’ll reach for the phone in the center of the table, and use it to dial one of his private business calls as he walks out of the room like a true boss.

The other team members will also all be shown standing, going their separate ways to continue their business day, all referring to their phones to help them carry out the instructions given to them.

They will be styled in dark, professional business attire with white shirts underneath. Chaerin will wear a pencil skirt, while the others will wear pantsuits. All of the men will wear differing ties, except for Jonghyun, who will be without one and have his jacket unbuttoned. They will also have any piercings removed for the shoot to aid in accomplishing a professional image.

Concept: Members are at a gathering for high-class families taking place in a large and extravagant ballroom, surrounded by other wealthy people, most of which are older than them.

They’ll all be shown in different parts of the gathering at first: Seolhyun seated on a chaise lounge, Sehun sitting at one of the tables, Soyeon by a pair of double doors that lead to a balcony, and Woohyun mingling with other guests. They’ll all look a little absent-minded, clearly still on the lookout for someone or something (each other!)

They’ll check their phones and message each other periodically, with Woohyun and Seolhyun corresponding the most with each other, and the same for Sehun and Soyeon. Woohyun and Seolhyun will find each other first, and they’ll eventually meet up as an entire group and take a picture together.

Seolhyun will eventually talk Sehun into dancing with her at the end of the commercial, following the ballroom style to suit the setting, and Soyeon and Woohyun will laugh and take video of it on Woohyun’s phone.

They will be styled in high-class, expensive suits and ties for the males, and dresses for the females. Seolhyun’s dress will be red, and Soyeon’s will be a dark teal. Sehun’s tie will match Soyeon’s dress, and Woohyun’s will match Seolhyun’s dress, but their suits will both be dark in color.

She’ll be shown arriving back in Seoul and making her way through Incheon Airport. She’ll pick up her bags, and look around, expecting her friends to greet her, but will be disappointed to see that they aren’t there, thinking they’ve forgotten.

The other members will then be shown in different locations around Seoul, messaging and calling each other to properly plan to meet up and surprise her, and eventually they’ll all pop out from behind a column at the airport and Yerim will be surprised and smile.

They’ll have a group hug at the end.

They’ll wear casual clothing suited for the winter, with a peacoat for Yerim, puffer coat for Seungyoun, varsity jacket for Yixing, and sweater for Bora.

Concept: Members will be shown inside a log cabin in the woods in the winter, hanging out together and trying to make the most of the cold weather.

They’ll all be in the same room, trying to get comfortable on the wooden furniture, each wrapped up in blankets, but they won’t have too much success, so they’ll eventually all move to huddle by the fire and look more satisfied.

Myungsoo will then take out his phone and set it in front of them, and play music for them, and they’ll all smile at each other.

For styling, think cozy: sweaters of all kinds and patterns, jeans, thermal shirts, boots, hats, scarves, and plaid prints, all in warm colors (aside from the jeans.)

Concept: Yien and Yifan are soccer players on opposing teams, while Huidong is the coach for Yien’s team, and Gunhee is an aspiring sports photographer.

The players will be shown going head to head on the field in a game that’s tight, exciting, and highly competitive. Huidong will react dramatically to each play Yien makes, offering both criticism and encouragement throughout.

Gunhee will be on the sidelines with his phone, capturing amazing action photos of the game, and the emotional reactions of the other members invested in the game.

Yien’s team will come out with the victory, and Yien and Huidong will celebrate. Yien and Kris will shake hands as a show of good sportsmanship, and Gunhee will snap a picture of that moment, too.

Yien will be styled in a red soccer uniform, and Kris in a blue one. Huidong will wear a red pullover sweatshirt and grey sweatpants, and Gunhee will be in a t-shirt and cargo shorts.

[ The shoot will actually take place on location at Kookmin University’s soccer field. ]

Concept: Members will be shown dancing in different locations and in different styles around the city, each either propping their phones up somewhere to record video of themselves as they dance, or being filmed on someone else’s phone.

Bomi will be shown in a studio that looks more like a dojo, showing off both her martial arts and dancing skills, and Hoseok will show off his street dancing in an alleyway in the city. Jieun will be shown in a classic dance studio, demonstrating her contemporary dance abilities, and Sooyoung will be shown in another studio, dancing in a unique style that mixes hip hop and contemporary.

They’ll all be dressed in typical practice attire for their style of dance.

[ All scenes but Hoseok’s will be shot in sets made specifically by Samsung for the commercial, or in practice rooms in the Seocho facility. Hoseok’s will be shot in the city itself. ]

Concept: Members will be shown camping, with the boys sharing one tent and the girls sharing another.

Each pair will wake up and slowly emerge from the tents in the early morning to the beautiful nature around them, and Kibum will take out his phone to take some artistic pictures of the scenery.

He’ll eventually get a call from someone back home to ask how the trip is going, and he’ll wander away from the group to have a short conversation and demonstrate the new phone’s great reception, even in the wilderness.

As night sets in, they’ll all build a campfire and sit around it. Tiffany will play the guitar, and they’ll enjoy being one with nature, but will eventually take a picture together next to the campfire on Tiffany’s phone.

Their clothing will be suitable for the outdoors, in earthy tones and will include worn jeans, backpacks, vests, windbreakers, hats, flannel and long-sleeved shirts.

[ Trainees won’t actually be camping for this; the shoot will take place on a set built for the commercial by Samsung, and the scenery and time of day will largely be created by a green screen, CGI effects, and different lighting. ]

Concept: Members will be shown living a healthy lifestyle-- their phone alarms helping them to rise early in the morning.

They’ll then refer to apps on their phone to help them put together a balanced breakfast and continue on with their morning routine enthusiastically. Bambam will make himself a green smoothie and check his messages on his phone. Cheng Xiao will do some early morning yoga with the help of a yoga app on her phone. Dawon will be preparing for a run, and Jonghyun will water his plants.

By the end of the commercial, they’ll all be ready to face the day, and the final scene will show them shutting the door to their respective apartments.

This team will have two different sets of clothing: sleepwear for one, and then casual clothing such as shorts, leggings, yoga pants, zip-up jackets, and anything promoting an image of fitness.

Concept: Yulhee has lost her phone, and the members of the group all band together to get it back to her.

Yulhee is first shown looking for it, and Minyoung, in a different part of the city, finds it at a table in a restaurant. She brings it to the attention of Minhee-- a waitress at the restaurant-- but she doesn’t remember who the owner is. They go through the contacts of the phone and dial a promising number, and Hyojin picks up in a different location.

Hyojin meets the two girls, picks up the phone, then finds Yulhee and returns her phone to her, and Yulhee is overjoyed.

They’ll be styled in casual clothing, except for Minhee, who will be in a waitress uniform. Yulhee will wear a sweater and black skirt, Minyoung, a leather jacket and stonewashed jeans, and Hyojin, in black jeans and a striped shirt.

[ The scenes taking place in the city will be shot there, as will the scene in the restaurant. Hyojin answering her call and returning Yulhee’s phone to her will be shot in a room set made specifically by Samsung for the commercial. ]

SECOND TEAM — SHOOTING MARCH 25TH Concept: Members meet up with an old lady in an assisted living facility and teach her how to use a smartphone.

They’ll all sit at a table with her in the parlor, Taeyeon sitting closest to her and showing her features on the phone most often, though they’ll all pitch in and offer their help. At one point, she’ll call one of the other team members to demonstrate, and they’ll pick up their own phone and answer.

Eventually, they’ll garner the attention of other old people in the area, and Barom will take out his own phone and search up classical music to play for them, and they’ll all be amazed by the phone’s capabilities and the kindness of the young people that came to visit.

They’ll wear comfortable, simple clothes in light colors to emphasize a soft and subdued style.
