Creatinine clearance pcalc
Tumblr media
Clearance is a ratio of the mass generation and concentration at a steady state.Ĭreatinine clearance (C Cr) can be calculated if values for creatinine's urine concentration (U Cr), urine flow rate (V), and creatinine's plasma concentration (P Cr) are known. Physiologically, these quantities (volumetric blood flow and mass removal) are only related loosely. It is commonly believed to be the amount of liquid filtered out of the blood that gets processed by the kidneys. For example grading of chronic renal insufficiency and dosage of drugs that are primarily excreted via urine are based on GFR (creatinine clearance). The result of this test is an important gauge used in assessing excretory function of the kidneys. Since creatinine is already at a steady-state concentration in the blood, measuring creatinine clearance is much less cumbersome. Other more precise GFR measurements involve constant infusions of inulin or another compound, to maintain a steady state in the blood. This margin of error is acceptable considering the ease with which creatinine clearance is measured. It is actively secreted by the kidneys such that creatinine clearance overestimates actual GFR by 10-20%. Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) can be calculated by measuring any chemical that has a steady level in the blood, and is freely filtered but neither reabsorbed nor secreted by the kidneys.Ĭreatinine is used because it fulfills these requirements (though not perfectly) and it is produced naturally by the body ( creatinine is a metabolite of creatine, which is found in muscle). Clinically, creatinine clearance is a useful measure for estimating the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of the kidneys. In renal physiology, creatinine clearance (C Cr) is the volume of blood plasma that is cleared of creatinine per unit time. In general, creatinine clearance is the removal of creatinine from the body. List of terms related to Creatinine clearanceĮditor-In-Chief: C. #PCALC ALTERNATIVE MAC#
If you’re doing long strands of calculations where you need the partial results along the way, it’s much easier to use.)Īnother interesting feature is the tape. The result is the same, it’s just different, and some people think that way. (For those who don’t know, here’s a brief idea of RPN entry: a standard equation (3×4=12) would be entered like this on a regular calculator: 3, the “x” key, 4, and the “=” key. Reverse Polish Notation (RPN) entry is supported, as well. You can also customize the background tint of your display, the color of the numerals, and the actual font that is shown, in addition to padding the numbers to always show a certain number of decimal places. With changeable themes, you can “skin” the app to meet your aesthetic requirements (white on blue to look like a blueprint, or “high powered” – shiny black with white markings and the reverse for numerals) or for better selection of keys (functions in blue, “clear” keys in red, numerals in white, operators in yellow, and a large, green “=” key).
#PCALC ALTERNATIVE MAC#
I’m going to specifically cover the iPhone versions here, but encourage you to look at the Mac version if you’re of the numerical bent. Available for the Mac and for iPhone (in two flavors – more on that later), it’s an amazing amalgam of tool, reference list, and study in great interface design. Well, James Thomson, a former Apple employee and the developer of DragThing, has created just the thing for you: pCalc. And what if you needed more or fewer decimal places, or a better font or color for reading in your environment? Would you just carry along your trusty HP or TI scientific programmable, or would you keep a list of these bits of information and write it down from your notes, then tap it in when needed? For many of those in the scientific community, this is a constant necessity (no pun intended). Or if you need to plug in large numbers regularly, such as the Newtonian Constant of Gravitation (6.6742e-11, if you’re interested), or the speed of light in a vacuum (299792458 metres per second), or pi, or the Golden Ratio (phi), or the Faraday constant. But what if you’re involved in alternate number systems (binary, hexadecimal, or octal, for instance)? It would help if your calculator did some of the work for you. That should do it, right? Yes, the built-in calculator is pretty powerful. What more could you want? Well, if you’re the scientific kind, you’d want to turn it to landscape and get all those trigonometric function keys, log functions, square, cube, square roots, percentage, and a few other keys. Why would you want to add a calculator to your iPhone/iPod touch? You can’t remove the standard one, and it does most of what normal people use a calculator for all ready: add, subtract, multiply, divide, hold a number in memory and let you use it in an operation. If you buy something through the links on this page, we may earn a commission at no cost to you.

Pcalc apple watch

#PCALC APPLE WATCH UPGRADE#
#PCALC APPLE WATCH SERIES#
It costs €10.99, but if all you want is to add a simple calculator to your wrist, we suggest the free PCalc Lite. PCalc is our favourite advanced calculator app for iOS, and it comes with a great Apple Watch app. Your iPhone has one, and calculator watches were sort of the first “smart watches.” It is almost weird that there is no calculator app built into the Apple Watch. PCalc Lite How weird is it that the Apple Watch has no built-in calculator app? Having the ability to identify songs on your wrist makes you use it a lot more than having to pull your phone out. You can use the iPhone app to go through the history of songs you have found and add them to Apple Music or Spotify. Just tap that Shazam complication and the app immediately loads up and starts listening. We figure the company has big plans for the Shazam technology, but in the meantime, it is an excellent app for your Apple Watch. It is so associated with being able to “name that tune” that there is even a game show with Jamie Foxx.Īpple bought Shazam in September and did not do anything other than remove ads from the app, which just makes it better. Shazam is the number one name in identifying music. Shazam Apple hasn’t done much with Shazam, but it’s still the best song-ID service around. The cost is to cover the increased API usage of its data sources for features like precipitation warnings. The only downside is that the app costs €5.49, and then for certain features you have subscribe to a Premium Club membership for a monthly or yearly fee.
#PCALC APPLE WATCH SERIES#
Carrot Weather was one of the first third-party apps to make use of the new corner complications on Apple Watch Series 4, and it gives you a card on the Siri watch face, too. The snarky evil robot voice helps make weather fun.Īpple Watch support is especially robust, with several different complications available and the ability to customise them in the app. It combines excellent weather forecasting (with data from Weather Underground or Dark Sky), lots of customisation, a funky augmented reality mode, and even achievements. There are plenty of good weather apps out there, many of which support Apple Watch, but Carrot Weather may be our favourite. Just three bucks to add quality sleep automatic sleep tracking to your Apple Watch.Ĭarrot Weather Carrot Weather isn’t free, but it’s great.
#PCALC APPLE WATCH UPGRADE#
No hidden upgrade in-app-purchases, no subscriptions. Not only does it work well and give you lots of great data, it is just one up-front (and reasonable) price. There are now several good sleep-tracking apps to choose from, but most require either a substantial in-app purchase to make proper use of, or a subscription that can really add up. Fortunately, it is not that hard to add with an app like AutoSleep, Sleep Watch, Sleep++, or Pillow. Rumours persist about Apple adding the capability, but year after year, we are disappointed when it does not. If there is one major feature missing from the Apple Watch, it is automatic sleep tracking. AutoSleep is our favorite app for adding automatic sleep tracking to the Apple Watch.

PCalc Crack MAC With Full License Key 2020 Since 9 is greater than 8, 9/12 is greater than 8/12 - therefore 3/4 is greater than 2/3. Finally, since both denominators are now the same, you compare the numerators (8 and 9) to determine which fraction is greater. Next, since 4 goes into 12 a total of 3 times, you would multiply the top and bottom of 3/4 by 3, which results in 9/12. 3 ' 777 0x309 0y $ pcalc sqrt 2 1.73095 0x1 0y1 # Note: The single quotes are to keep the shell happy with the characters. $ pcalc 0x300 768 0x300 0y # Note: Shell expansion on the '.' char requires the single quotes. But when you want the best, the absolute top of the category, PCalc ($9.99) from TLA Systems claims that it's the one to beat. Hundreds of alternative calculator apps, both free and paid, are available from the App Store. The calculator app that comes bundled in iOS is adequate for basic, quick calculations, but it lacks even a simple memory function or running history of operations.

A more serious knock on the built-in calculator is that its scientific layout is available only in landscape mode. So I’m predisposed to prefer PCalc over the iPhone’s built-in calculator. Spending my twenties and early thirties using HP’s great 15C tilted me that way. I’m not an RPN fanatic, but I do prefer it to algebraic input. Let me start by saying that I use PCalc in RPN mode, so my screenshots and discussion will be biased in that direction.

But the little improvements have accumulated, so it’s time to discuss it once again. A person with knowledge of the situation claims that Apple intends to release a calculator app for the iPad, over 14 years after the device's first release.
Given that the calculator is a necessary tool, the lack of an official iPad software has long been the target of jokes and memes on social media. iPad users were previously limited to using third-party calculator apps from the App Store, such PCalc and Calcbot.

Saturday Morning Coffee
Good morning! It’s Christmas Eve – for those who celebrate!
Look, I’m a native California boy. It’s mostly sunshine and warm weather year round. Sure we’d get down in the high 20s overnight on rare occasion, but nothing like we’ve experienced in Virginia this week. It’s been pretty darned frigid. The temperature at the moment is a balmy 8 degrees outside, with a feels like of -7. That’s just wild!
Anywho, first cup of coffee is in the mug. Time to compose the post. ☕️
Tumblr media
Mike Hurley
Many people using PCalc on their shiny devices today don’t realise that the app has been around for a lot longer than they think. In some cases, a lot longer than they’ve been thinking.
Happy Birthday PCalc! 🎂
It’s impressive to have an active 30 year run with a piece of software. Congratulations on 30 years and counting James Thomson!
Craig Hockenberry
By now, you probably know where this is going: yes, I wrote my own utility and call it SimBuddy. It’s a FREE download from the Iconfactory.
Craig Hockenberry is a long time Mac and iOS Developer. He’s best known as the creator of the first Twitter client, Twitterrific, but he’s also developed many fun and useful apps for the Iconfactory.
If Apple gave out lifetime achievement awards, Craig would be deserving of one.
Thanks for another great development tool, Craig!
Joel Spolsky
Well, yes. They did. They did it by making the single worst strategic mistake that any software company can make: They decided to rewrite the code from scratch.
This is an oldie-but-goodie. The Joel on Software piece above is from 2000 and touches on something that can destroy a company quicker than anything: rewriting software.
The article was brought up somewhere this week because Musk is reportedly looking to rewrite Twitter.
I mean, dang, dude! Maybe try to understand how all the things work together before jumping to that conclusion. A lot of cool stuff was happening before you blew the place up.
Randomly thinking back to my time at Apple. In 2013 when the iOS side of iTunes U, Podcasts, App Store, and Remote were owned by a team of 7 engineers. Each app source in a different source control. I was lead for iTunes U. I was told a few things by my new manager 1) Don't …
— @[email protected] the new Taquitos (@taquitos) December 5, 2022
I’ve been trying to stay away from linking to Twitter but I couldn’t resist this tweet because it captures something a lot of modern devs should hear.
Basically the tweet thread goes on to explain how broken Apple’s development process was broken on a particular team.
I’m not saying alternate forms of development are necessarily bad but grinding devs into the ground is not good, at all. People need time to live, and sleep.
Futurism
It’s not just Tesla investors who are at their wit’s end with CEO Elon Musk, who has been making a huge mess of his Twitter takeover.
Ah, yes, The Musk Effect. He’s dragging Tesla down with Twitter and I’m shocked the Tesla Board hasn’t fired him.
Tech Dirt
But, really, after all this, I cannot fathom how anyone can possibly get all that excited about joining yet another centralized social media site. Perhaps I’m biased (note: I am biased) because it was my frustration with the problems of these big, centralized social media services that made me write my Protocols, Not Platforms paper a few years ago. But, after all of that, the big question that kept coming up about it was “sure, but how would you get anyone to actually use it.”
Here’s to the Open Web making a comeback! We now have Mastodon and Micro.blog to fill our Twitter mojo and both run on open standards like ActivityPub and RSS.
Dare Obasanjo
A friend asked what I think will happen to Twitter. Here’s my assessment
Nice little Mastodon thread from Dare sharing his thoughts on the Twitter mess.
Denise Yu
You’d like to have time to code, but nobody else is onboarding the junior engineers, updating the roadmap, talking to the users, noticing the things that got dropped, asking questions on design documents, and making sure that everyone’s going roughly in the same direction.
This piece from Denice is required reading for any Software Developer. It explores the position know as Staff Engineer or Principle Engineer in many companies today.
At WillowTree was have a dual track for Software Developers after the Senior level; Staff Engineer or Associate Engineering Director.
I personally reached a point where I decided it was time to change direction and focus on building teams instead of coding, so I became an Associate Engineering Director.
It is interesting to note the Staff and Director positions overlap in significant ways but also have very unique traits. The Director position is a people management and team building position, the Staff position does deep dives into technology and can master just about anything.
Anywho, go read Denise’s piece, it’s very good.
Alexandre Colucci
Tumblr media
Like in the past years, I will try to answer a couple of questions: How many binaries are in iOS 16? Which programming languages are used to develop these apps? How many apps are written with Swift? What is the percentage of apps using SwiftUI versus UIKit?
I had to share this because I too find it interesting to know how much Apple is eating their own dog food when it comes to their developer technologies.
Swift seems to be making real inroads and SwiftUI (worst name ever) is starting to show itself.
I’ve been thinking about doing Stream for Mac with SwiftUI. It is the future of development on the Mac and iOS. All devs need to learn it at some point.
Dan Sinker
Newsrooms should not spin up instances for their reporters partially because this is too new to dedicate strapped staff to
I’ve been pushing the idea of news companies spinning up their own Mastodon servers. Dan does make a good point about not doing that. If Mastodon could be enhanced to export all posts to another instance I have a feeling Dan wouldn’t be as opposed to the idea. As it stands you can move instances but it only keeps your followers, you lose your posts. That’s no bueno.
Adam Davidson
We want the field of journalism to take ownership of the ways stories are distributed and audiences are engaged.
With the most recent flight of users from Twitter Mr. Davidson spun up an instance of Mastodon for journalists. That was a brilliant idea and provides a bit of distance from the journalist to their organization. It’s a great alternative to news orgs spinning up their own.
The Atlantic
There has never been any mystery about what happened on January 6, 2021. As Senator Mitch McConnell said at Trump’s second impeachment trial, “There’s no question—none—that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.”
In many ways I’ve lost confidence in our Justice system because it treats the rich, politicians, and white people differently than everyone else. Combine more than one of those traits and you’re likely to walk away unscathed where someone who works at the coffee shop, is poor, and dark skinned is totally screwed.
It’s not right. TFG must be brought to Justice. Our system requires it if our democracy is to survive.

Lodsys Warns IOS Devs, Alleges In-app Purchases Infringe Its Patent
Lodsys Warns IOS Devs, Alleges In-app Purchases Infringe Its Patent
Several builders posted on Twitter after receiving the letters, including Patrick McCarron (Shanghai for iPad), James Thomson (PCalc), and Matt Braun (MASH). They’re understandably unwilling to share too many details at this level — despite the fact that Apple developed the framework, developers might still be liable.
