🎶✨when u get this, list 5 songs u like to listen to, and publish. then, send this ask to 10 of your favourite followers (positivity is cool)🎶✨
Only 5? 🥺
*shrugs* Okay then!
In no particular order, we have:
1. Running Up That Hill by Placebo (2003)
I adore this song SO MUCH and (this might be an unpopular opinion, so sorry in advance!) I enjoy listening to this version more than the original Kate Bush version. It’s incredibly moody and cinematic, and it brings a whole new meaning to the song because of that. It sounds like something you'd hear in a James Bond film or in a romantic drama. 😍😍😍😍 I also like the little detail of the thumping percussion representing a heart beating in time with the song, which is a nice touch.
2. Imagine by A Perfect Circle (2004)
This is yet another cover I absolutely adore over the original. I love both versions equally, but there’s just something about A Perfect Circle’s version compared to John Lennon’s that sends shivers down my spine every time I listen to it.
Like Placebo’s cover of Running Up That Hill, A Perfect Circle’s cover of Imagine brings a whole new meaning to the song simply by changing the chords, mostly in a minor key, which changes the tone of the song completely as a result. Instead of a song about peace and love and hopefulness, this version sounds more like an evil authority figure planning to take over the world or a serial killer about to kidnap and murder some people or something sinister like that.
3. Personal Jesus by Depeche Mode (1990)
This wouldn’t be a favourite songs list without the mention of Depeche Mode in it! I love them that much! They are my most listened-to artist on my Spotify and Last.fm accounts for a reason.
Anyway, Personal Jesus is a banger! I don’t think I need to elaborate on why, apart from the fact that it’s catchy as hell thanks to the thumping percussion and the repetitive guitar chords. You all know the song. It’s one of the band’s best known songs in their entire discography, and for a good reason. Master And Servant and Lie To Me are a close 2nd and 3rd for me, but I don’t want to clog this list up with nothing but Depeche Mode songs. We’d be here all day otherwise! 😂
4. Slowly by Susanne Sundfør (2015)
You all know I love my synth music. Synthwave, synth pop, new wave, retrowave, you name it! Old and now! This one in particular is a modern synth pop song by a female singer from Norway and I LOVE IT TO PIECES!!!!! 😍😍😍😍😍
I came across this song while listening to the Sanctuary AU playlist, and the first thing I was drawn to was Susanne’s voice. She has the voice of an angel! 😍🥰 It made me check out a load of her other songs, including ones she’s collaborated with Röyksopp. The songs featured on her Ten Love Songs album sound very poppy but also nostalgic at the same time as if it came straight out of the 80’s, and that’s why I love this song and the album as a whole.
5. Modern Fears - Pilotpriest Come True Version by Electric Youth (2020)
This is a synthwave song and, like with Slowly, it has a very nostalgic feel to it. 🥰
I discovered this song after watching the psychological horror film Come True (2020), which was featured as the film’s theme tune. I haven’t got much to say on this one. It’s a very recent discovery and I love the nostalgic synth sounds. That’s pretty much it!
Thank you for the ask, Hannah! 💙

Tagging game compilation post
thanks for @earthly-apples for tagging!
Five Current Favorite Songs: (Order isn’t of significance)
behind the drapery by ludvig forssell (ost from mgs 5) - i found this track completely by accident, what then what now i still don’t know anything about mgs but this track is very cool
run by iamthekidyouknowwhatimean (also known as ost from hlm2) - i have a weakness for all tracks from hlm, but especially for this one and i think it would be ideal for an animation about the game
parallel by overwerk & pilotpriest - in 20-21 i found artist named pilotpriest, i really like some of his tracks, they are very atmospheric for a story about space or cyberpunk horror
don't forget to breathe by pilotpriest - look at prev description xp
dowbusz by joryj kłoc - i don’t remember in what year i found one song by this group it was called lis that i really liked for it's cheerful sound, similar to a holiday one. last year i decided to look for their other songs and this one just blew my mind. i'm not very sure about translation and historical context of the song but it sounds really cool! tension, danger, viscosity, a horror story that frightens children and adults
_____________________________
Last Song: black hole orbit by musicformessier & dan caine - like most of songs in my playlist i found it accidentally and liked for the vibe i feel in this case it is a viscous and melancholy flow into nothing and nowhere
Last Watched (Movie/TV Show): last time i watched fnaf movie with my friend on discord and terrorized her with my screams about the fact that matt patt was there
Currently Reading: yesterday i finished reading the lady of the lake and started reading season of storms and still by pan sapkowski
Currently Obsessed with: still thronebreaker the witcher tales :p
Relationship status : i uuuh... i'm aroace.......

Come True

Come True | 2020
Written and Directed by Anthony Scott Burns
What do you dream about? What if someone created technology to watch your dreams in real time AND potentially explain what it all means? That is the main premise of Come True, a sci-fi horror flick about a sleep study that goes awry.
Our main character is Sarah Dunn, an 18-year-old who is avoiding home and all while experiencing disturbing nightmares. She isn't alone in the study; the others seem connected somehow through their nightmares.
This film dives deeply into the subconscious and provides a cerebral landscape filled with soothing synth music and disturbing imagery. The final plot twist leaves the audience breathless and provides that final piece of the puzzle.
Come True has received mixed reviews and from my perspective, it might be because the dream sequences aren't in color, and if you don't allow yourself to get pulled in; the experience will be lost on you.
I highly recommend the following (if you dare and actually want to experience this amazing story):
turn off the lights
silence the outside world ( don't get distracted! )
headphones; the music has a panning effect and the theme song Modern Fears by Electric Youth + Pilot Priest (in fact the score is written by the same folks) adds to the story telling.
I give Come True 4/5 stars because I do wish the dream sequences were in color, however, it is intentional and I won't spoil it for any who hasn’t seen the film yet. There's also the tiniest bit of romance and it hits the soul just right.

FITC Tokyo 2015 Titles from FITC on Vimeo.
Now in its sixth year, FITC Tokyo 2015 consists of presentations from some of the most interesting and engaging digital creators from all around the world. To commemorate FITC Tokyo’s inaugural title sequence we sought to encapsulate the city itself—distilled to graphic form. Aiming to contrast the harmonies of traditional Japanese culture against the backdrop and sensory overload of present-day Tokyo, we meticulously crafted elegant typographic forms to collide with abrasive, overstimulating glitch—giving way to a progressive journey where moments of extreme chaos fold into temporary tranquility.
