Traditional Oxford shirts are made from thick yarns
Benefits of Oxford Fabric Oxford Fabric has several benefits over other fabrics. It ages good, resists wrinkling, as well as dries quickly. Additionally Polyester Taffeta Fabrics Suppliers In China it is resistant to abrasion and chemical providers. It is machine-washable, and it retains its form after washing. In contrast to some fabrics, oxford textile requires little ironing. Thus, it is a great choice for outdoor clothing and fixtures and lamps. The following are other sorts of benefits of Oxford Cloth. Traditional Oxford shirts are made from thick yarns. These yarns employ a varying appearance. While cotton will be preferred fabric intended for casual shirts, polyester and rayon are sometimes employed to make a mixed fabric. These materials are both comfortable and soft, as well as weight will soften as time passes. Oxford shirts have a very traditional button-down scruff of the neck, and they are ideal for dressier shirts in addition to polo shirts. Then again, a shirt created from a blend involving synthetic and cotton materials may have a more casual feel as well as a longer life. One of the appealing features connected with Oxford Fabric can be its durability. Made of man-made fibers, it is easy to care for and remains in form better than various fabrics. Oxford fabric is very affordable, and tailored oxford shirts are an indispensable wardrobe item. Oxford Fabric can be highly versatile in addition to durable, making it one of the versatile and timeless fabrics you'll be able to buy. The history of this fabric is useful, as it was developed in a materials mill in Scotland inside the late nineteenth one hundred year. Royal Oxford can be a variation of typical Oxford fabric. It can be smoother and carries a characteristic shine. It's more insulating compared to regular Oxford cloth. The Royal Oxford is perfect for dressy occasions plus brumous seasons. This fabric is resistant to abrasion, long lasting, and breathable. Dissimilar to regular Oxford, Royal Oxford is perfect for French cuff costume shirts and broad spread collar shirts. They look classy and elegant, so are also great for formal settings. One more variation of Oxford Textile is Pinpoint Oxford. Your difference between most of these two fabrics is definitely their yarn kind. Pinpoint Oxford can be a finer-weave fabric made from finer yarn as compared to regular Oxford pads. Pinpoint Oxford is known for a smoother finish, even though regular Oxford is actually heavier. Pinpoint Oxford is a versatile fabric that is effective in formal situations but just isn't as versatile since pinpoint or Royal Oxford. It might be less costly when compared with pinpoint fabric and it is suitable for informal settings. Oxford cloth is a popular shirting fabric since it is naturally immune to wrinkles and it is durable. There are usually Polyester Taffeta-Text several qualities regarding Oxford cloth, nevertheless the best quality will be soft and would not wrinkle easily. Oxford textile is comfortable for you to wear, even if you are a little wrinkly. It'll only get greater with age. Hence, if you want a quality Oxford cloth, look no more. You'll be happy you did.

got in a weird stressed out place with wanting to make new and fancy garb for a faire trip in less than a month.
Ordered 3 colors in a total of 5 yards of polyester taffeta in hopes of matching my moresca vest (purple)
Got so stressed trying to decide exactly what to make that I couldn't even start any of it even the pieces using fabric I already have.
Realized some of it was just hunger. Had lunch AND TOOK MY ADHD MEDS
Thought more about what I actually want to do at this faire. Decided to wear a shirt and bodice I already have. But I would like to have a red or pink skirt. Ideally a similar color to what can be achieved with madder because I LOVE madder pink/red

Trying to find something close enough online to order, but the yardage I want would be at least $60 and I already bought fabric today. Hmmmm.
I have dye left over from past cosplays...
So now I'm preparing a to dye a thrifted linen tablecloth, thereby saving myself a significant amount of money XD

My mothers wedding dress… going to turn this into a removable over skirt for my wedding dress, so I can have a lovely voluminous taffeta skirt but won’t have to sweat in polyester all day lol I’m going to take off the sequins and clean it somehow

Hi!
I desperately want to make myself a waistcoat (or ten), but where I live doesn't have a lot of the more traditional materials I see listed for waistcoats. I was wondering if you might be able to either give me a guide for what qualities to look for in materials for the parts (i.e. lining, back, front) or just say what materials should be used for each part as a rule so I can gear up for an expensive overseas purchase.
Thank you so much, I hope you have a glorious day!
Hi!
I very much support you in your wish to make yourself many waistcoats. And there's fewer barriers here than you think. Sure, wool suiting and silk and horsehair canvas make a beautiful tailored waistcoat, but if you don't have access to that it's fine! (I've never managed to get my hands on horsehair canvas... someday...)
There are a few guidelines, more for your sanity than anything else:
Nothing too light or delicate, it will tear
Stretchy makes it a vest and will give a very different look
Nothing too prone to fraying unless you have access to and patience for anti-fraying methods
So, within those guidelines there's a lot of space. Historically, the backs were generally white linen, in modern times I see a lot of black polyester.
I’ve used old sheets and curtains for my waistcoats:
Tumblr media
The front is a very fancy curtain I got secondhand, the back is cheap synthetic polyester and the inner lining is an old sheet.
If you have money to spend on this, lightweight fusible interfacing (here it’s called vlieseline but I don’t know if that translates) is a good investment. You just iron it on your front fabric to give the whole thing more body. It allows you to use much lighter fabrics for your front.
So, for the back: anything goes, but old sheets are particularly suitable. Polyester satin works fine for a shiny modern look, i think one of my old ones has my dad's jeans under the thin polyester to give it durability. (Not exactly a recommended method, but It'll do in a pinch)
for the interlining: fusible interfacing if you can get it, but the same fabric as the back sewn to the front fabric works as well. I use the back fabric as lining too.
For the front: something pretty that can take a bit of strain in the buttons. Silk and wool are great, but I’ve made some nice ones with polyester taffeta or cotton-polyester mixes. You don’t need a whole lot of this fabric, especially if you’re thrifty with only using a litttle bit of it on the lining, just so the part that falls open only shows the pretty fabric:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This top was only a size or two above mine, but i could just about get a waistcoat out of it. Might be an option for you too, if fabric is hard to come by but clothing isn't.
I hope this was helpful to you, sorry it got so long. I hope you get to make many lovely waistcoats!

Tips for people new to sewing.
Iron, iron, iron. Iron everything.
Iron your pattern pieces before you use them. Even those flimsy paper patterns can be ironed. Do it.
Iron your fabric before you cut out your patterns.
Iron your garment as you sew it.
Iron your hems and seams.
The finished product will look a million times better if you iron it.
Make sure you've got the right heat setting for your fabric.
Higher heat settings will melt and/or burn certain fabrics.
100% cotton fabrics can be ironed on the highest setting with or without steam. Unless they have glitter, then iron them on medium heat from the back.
Poly-cotton blends will melt on high.
Polyester, silks, satins and wools can be ironed on medium heat. NO steam. Never steam with them. They will shrink or discolor.
Satin, wool, and silk should be ironed from the reverse side. Or on the front side with a 100% cotton bath towel between the iron and fabric. So like lay a towel over the fabric and then iron it.
I see so many beautiful garments people spend literal hours on that have never seen an iron. It adds time and effort but trust me; it is worth it. You don't even need a fancy iron. Get a cheap one from satan-mart. (Wal-Mart)
(Also if you want to play with fire, a quick and easy way to tell if a fabric is 100% dupioni silk vs a poly-silk blend like some taffetas and dupioni, is find the selvage edge, (that's the bit that's not been cut on when they cut your fabric) and hold a small flame to it.* If it burns/melts it has plastic in it.
*Don't set your house on fire and if you do I'm not responsible for it.

Custom Woven Labels 💯
Woven labels have emerged as powerful branding tools and information carriers across various industries. These small yet significant fabric labels not only provide essential details about a product but also serve as visual representations of a brand’s identity and quality.
Damask Woven Labels: Damask woven labels are renowned for their intricate designs, superior craftsmanship, and luxurious appearance. These labels are created using a specialized weaving technique that produces a tight weave with a raised texture, enabling intricate details, logos, and typography. Damask labels are commonly preferred by high-end fashion brands and luxury products, as they exude elegance and sophistication.
Satin Woven Labels: Satin woven labels offer a smooth and lustrous finish, adding a touch of luxury to garments and accessories. Typically made from polyester or acetate materials, satin labels provide durability and a refined appearance. The soft and silky texture of satin enhances the visual appeal of labels, making them ideal for displaying intricate designs, delicate lettering, and brand emblems. Satin labels are commonly used in high-end fashion items, including lingerie, bridal wear, and upscale clothing lines.
Taffeta Woven Labels: Taffeta woven labels are known for their lightweight and crisp texture. Made from polyester yarns, these labels feature a smooth surface that lends itself well to a variety of applications. Taffeta labels are durable and can withstand regular use and washing. They offer versatility in terms of customization, allowing businesses to incorporate bold colors and fonts to create eye-catching labels. Taffeta labels find applications in clothing items, accessories, and home goods.

The Burnt Out Gown by Robert Wun
SS23 Couture
'Black silk taffeta quilted coat, sewed in with 500 3D-printed feather based, inserted with 4000 stripped coque feathers.
Styled with an incense holder ring made in sterling silver.'
Love how the feathers mimic the fluffy polyester filling of the puffer coat bursting out through cigarette burn holes.

I fitted the toile (practice "prototype," if you will) of the bodice lining using an old floral bedsheet, to work out any fitting issues before cutting into my nice fabric, but now the time has come! I found a really lovely, crisp, rayon taffeta for the lining (rayon is cheaper than silk, stronger than acetate, and more breathable-and biodegradable- than polyester. It was called "Art silk" in the early 20th century). Like most complicated Edwardian evening gowns, this ballgown bodice has a separate, boned foundation layer underneath to support the outside fabric, which can then appear to float airily and effortlessly over the body.

It’s strange to read that the designer felt faint when she saw the creases in Diana’s dress. For me it was always an integral feature and did not detract from the magnificence at all. It was a Taffeta gown squeezed into a tiny carriage. It was not polyester! There is no more thrilling memory of Diana than when she emerged from the carriage and walked up the steps.  It looked natural and old-fashioned and the crumpled dress was part of it! Yes I watched the wedding live and I remember the part they never show anymore - The Emanuels steaming the dress as Diana stood there just before her walk down the aisle. So unnecessary!
If you use taffeta it is going to wrinkle….it was beautiful….❤️
