And so with the Holy Spirit’s lead, I took the first step in pursuing it. I started reading articles and watching vlogs online on how to get there. In times of confusion, when I didn’t know what career to pursue and what pathway would best work for me, I ask God for signs. 

August 2022 - I made another history with God by taking my PTE exam and  passing it, by His grace. ;( Huhuh. I told Him that if He wills for me to pursue teaching as my pathway to live in NZ, then I would pass it. And yes, He wants it. :( I know that there are still many phases that I will go through in fully achieving this dream, but I also know that God will walk me through it all victoriously. At this moment, I am currently waiting for the perfect time to have my requirements assessed by the NZ council. 

September 2022 - I've finally had the courage to lodge my IQA requirements. This is def the 2nd step to reaching my NZ dream. 🛩 #Waiting ✋

Taking the leap

I finally had the courage to take the PTE exam for the first time. I was really nervous waiting for the exam day. However, when I received my results about an hour after taking the exam, I was relieved I managed to achieve my desired scores that will meet the Superior English standard. 

Here are some tips I want to share to anyone planning to take the PTE:

1. Practice daily - I signed up for an account at ptesuccess.com.au and practiced each component of the exam everyday. The account I paid for had 6 free mock tests. So, 5 days before my scheduled test, I did one 1 mock test every day to prepare myself for the actual exam. It really helped a lot because when I did the exam, I felt like I was just doing another mock test. LOL.

2. Use templates - this is the key for me to getting a 90! There are heaps of templates that you can find on the internet, especially on YouTube. However, I would suggest just following one PTE coach. Personally, the easiest for me to follow were the tips and tricks from PTE Jimmyssem. I used his templates for Describe Image, Retell Lecture, and Essay writing. It helps in organizing your ideas and thoughts. 

3. Take the leap - this statement does hold water to some extent. It means to take one’s chance on something. I decided to book my PTE 2 days after making the decision of just giving it a try. 

If you feel scared to take the exam, just take the leap. I’m glad I did.
