More Chill Season 2023 coming at you today, and this time we're coming out the door swinging with the reveal of the Seasonal Catalog!
Like the previous Season, the second half of the catalog's gear rewards is all old stuff from Chill Season 2022, as such, there's 16 new gear pieces in this one, and while that is not a lot I am pretty impressed by the offerings on display this time around.
Additionally, we've got a whooping one (1) kit revealed, as well!
Painbrush Nouveau comes equipped with Point Sensor and Tenta Missiles, which certainly makes it live up to that first part of its name.
✨️WHY THE GRAND SPLATLANDS BOWL WAS A GREAT MAP FOR PAINBRUSH✨️
(as an almost 5☆ painbrush main)
-> as attacking team: the spawn area had a high ground great for inking the base and charging special (note: not if your teamate has a more useful special than yours, i barely inked base when i had a n-zap on my team). the walls near the lower area were good for squid surging into someone attacing from mid, and the perch was good for covering a large mid area.
further in spawn was an inkrail leading directly into the signal, providing a mid-fall rain of ink on whatever opponent was too near the edge. the signal area was also small enough that a wave breaker combo (or just some quick reflexes) could kill whoever was up there and get the signal. the elevation of the signal was very good for ink surges, too.
-> as defending team: base was okay. unfortunately easy to invade, but in general i just beelined straight to the signal. that's where the action was all in. once again: high ground. you could ink all the way to the entrance of both attacking team's bases, kill someone on the perch, ink in mid and kill someone who's ink surging into the signal. the area was also wide enough for me to dodge any surging attackers i wasnt imediately prepared to fight.
i'd only really leave that area when i was confident that my team could defend there or it was the last few seconds and we were winning.
wave breaker also covered there + the lower areas, so that was nice too, and fizzbangs could reach into enemy base from there.
-> in general: lots of high ground = destruction time yipee >:)
OG Painbrush for the outfit challenge c: [if it's already been suggested, go with the Nouveau one instead!]
This is my favourite Brush by an enormous margin, because it is the only one I can play and not feel like I am doing lasting damage to my hands.
Painbrush is fun, though it feels a bit on the weaker side to me at the moment, but it's also a bit of a pubstomper weapon in the sense that the Main Weapon is really strong in low-level lobbies, so it's hard to buff as a result.
