PREMISE

A spinoff of TNT’s three movies-and-four seasons franchise, The CW’s The Librarians: The Next Chapter centers on Vikram Chamberlin (played by Jamestown‘s Callum McGowan), a protean genius, swashbuckler and Librarian from the year 1847 who accidentally time-travels to present-day Central Europe and now finds himself stuck here. When Vikram returns to his castle, which is now a museum, he inadvertently releases magic across the continent. He in turn is given a team of talented young people to help him clean up the mess he made by reclaiming magical artifacts from those who would abuse them.

Jessica Green who previously played Talon in Dean Devlin's The Outpost plays Charlie Cornwall in The Librarians - The Next Chapter.

Jessica Green (The Outpost) has been cast as Charlie Cornwall — aka the Guardian. “Charlie, having been rejected by the Library to serve as a Guardian – essentially the bodyguard of The Librarian – was at a low point in her life when she got the call to be a ‘special guardian’ on a trial basis,” reads the official character breakdown. “Trained in the military, her dedication and martial art skills are unquestionable. If she can keep the powers that be in line, she can achieve her dream to become a permanent member of the Library.”

The Guardian is a pivotal role in the Librarians franchise. Characters who have previously served as the Guardian include Eve Baird (played by Rebecca Romijn), Charlene (Jane Curtin) and Nicole Noone (first portrayed by Sonya Walger in The Librarian: Quest for the Spear, and later by Rachel Nichols in The Librarians Season 4).

I don't recall if Armando Cox just randomly showed up, or if Isabella already knew him and rolled a Want to befriend him. Either way, he's visiting.

Roux comes home with her second promotion in as many days of work, unlocking the purple cat coat color in the process.

Damn, that's uh....certainly purple. I thought it'd be more like how "blue" fur is really just a cool-toned gray, not like they rolled around in grape juice.

Romeo also nets a promotion!

Burnt lobster again. Isabella may just have to accept that this dish isn't her forte.

Romeo knows he went into town for a reason, but he's too distracted by his conversation with the cashier, Nichole Thompson, to remember what it was. A rather long conversation at that, as once they found a topic of similar interest, they clicked hard.

A rather sweet bonding moment between grandfather and grandson before school. While cuisine may be Patrizio's true passion, he does have quite the appreciation for games as well.

Meanwhile, unable to get Nicole out of his head, Romeo calls her before school, and managing to build a pretty quick friendship.

Patrizio invites over his nearly friend, Olive Specter, who brings along her son-in-law, Pascal Curious. And not only is the chest pounding still spreading like wildfire, but Pascal introduces a new one into the mix, "hang loose".

These two should start a chess club or something, given this is how they met.

They're not the only ones bonding over the game, as Isabella and Pascal managed to get along quite well.

It looks like lobster duty is going to have to go to Patrizio, as he is the first to successfully attempt the dish.

Romeo invites Nichole over, hoping to ask her out. Juliette is nice, but she was wanting to make things serious between them before Romeo was really ready. Romeo wants to be able to explore his options, so to speak.

It looks like he's going to have to cast his net elsewhere, if Nicole repeatedly turning down his offer for a date is any indication.

It's a little uncertain how well she's getting along with Mercutio.

Dude, why? This feels completely out of nowhere. Fine, why not?

Back into town before school, Romeo gets himself a handheld game.

Nicole's here of course. Things were a little awkward after Romeo tried to ask her out. If they're both here, he might as well try to patch things up.

He also runs into is cousin, Beatrice, and decides to hang out with her for a bit before heading home. She...uh doesn't look like she's having fun there.

Poor Isabella got up to feed Abramo, only to find tragedy instead.

Determined to do birdkeeping right this time, Isabella brings Lorenzo into the family.

Romeo managed to earn $100 from relatives for good grades. Unfortunately, I know exactly where that $100 is going to go.

Mercutio become Romeo first test subject styling client. He has no clue how Romeo talked him into this, but Mercutio isn't sure he should be letting a kid who keeps his hair shoved under a beanie 24/7 to style him.

You know what? It's actually not that bad.

I attended the October 24th "Black Theatre Night" performance, which featured a spirited talk back with three dynamic Black women playwrights Dominique, Jocelyn Bioh @jjbioh and Mfoniso Udofia @mfudofia, moderated by Chris Berry @chris__berry.
