YOU WERE A NERVOUS WRECK.

Ten and Giselle were so adamant on riding a Disco Pang-Pang ever since they saw a TikTok about it, but you were not interested in potentially falling all over a bunch of strangers. Ten, on the other hand, was ready to see you eat shit. He had an iron grip, and you knew he was going to be recording you and Giselle humiliating yourselves.

Your friends had dragged you all the way to an amusement park just for the ride, but you were able to convince them to put it off until the end. For the entire day, you were trying to convince yourself the ride was harmless, but you had seen far too many TikToks, and you didn’t want to end up being the laughingstock of one. These were rides that you found fun to watch on a screen, but you weren’t very happy about going on one. Plus, you were already feeling queasy from the last few roller coasters, so a ride that spun you around didn’t sound too appealing.

In a measly five minutes, you would be riding the human death trap, clinging on like nothing else mattered and fighting to keep your lunch down. You could hear the ride’s operator shouting over the 1980s playlist he had running. He was sending people hurtling across the floor while laughing at their misery.

Nevertheless, you steeled your nerves. One little ride wasn’t going to take you out. You were determined to hold on for dear life and brave through the experience.

Of course, all this bravado fizzled away once you realized you were going to be part of the next batch of riders.

“Y/N, you look like you’ve seen a ghost,” Giselle pointed out.

“Not yet,” you replied, dazed. “After this, though, I’m gonna be seeing many ghosts.”

A note: The list of readings is not exhaustive. It is only an introduction to the history of the occupation. I know annoying "Desis" are going to see this and bitch and moan about how Kashmir is actually integral to their country out of a sense of colonial entitlement. Kashmir belongs to Kashmiris, the natives, no matter what religion they belong to. Neither Pakistan nor India get to decide the matter of Kashmiri sovereignty. The reasons given by both parties as to why Kashmir should be a part of either nation are bullshit. The United Nations itself recognises Kashmir as a disputed region, so I will entertain neither dumbfuckery nor whataboutism. I highly encourage fellow Indians especially to take the time to go through and properly understand the violence the state enacts on Kashmiris. Na Jaemin and Lee Donghyuck, his housemates, were still bickering behind Jeno about a pact they had made in the beginning of the year. It was a tradition the residents of the Bitch Hunters household carried out, in which they would get a girlfriend in their fourth year of college. Since their other housemate, Huang Renjun, had already accomplished a successful bitch hunting season, Jaemin and Donghyuck were arguing who would get a girlfriend between the two of them.

Jeno honestly didn’t care when it happened; he just knew he was ready for a relationship, but he was planning on waiting for the perfect girl to come along.

Jeno had flings here and there. He hooked up with Kim Minjeong for a long time before she got a boyfriend. He was a great guy and Jeno truly was happy for them, but he felt a strange feeling in his chest when he realized she was tied down.

No, it wasn’t jealousy in any sense. Jeno was on good terms with Minjeong, but he didn’t like her to the point of wanting to be in a relationship. The reason he felt so strange was because he felt left behind. Once Minjeong picked herself up and found someone that made her happy, Jeno felt like he was stuck in a rut.

That, or he just felt embarrassed to be lumped with Donghyuck and Jaemin.

THIS WAS A BAD IDEA.

In fact, this was a terrible idea.

Jisung didn’t seem to think too much of it, but you felt completely out-of-place among the crowd of sweaty males. It wasn’t like you were left in the dark about your best friend’s hobbies, but you didn’t expect to see him beating up a bulkier man in a dingy, low-light warehouse.

It was hard to wrap your head around the shocking realization that Park Jisung was a good fighter. He was soft-spoken and gentle most of the time, so seeing your best friend punching another man with all his might was throwing you off. Jisung didn’t look like much compared to the other man, but he was swift enough to pin the man down and twist his arm at a dangerous angle behind his back.

“Alright, ‘Sung,” someone called when it was clear Jisung’s opponent wasn’t getting up. “I think it’s safe to say he tapped out.”

Another scoffed in response. “Did he say that, Jaemin?”

“He’s practically gone limp, Chenle. Just call it already,” Jaemin responded flatly.
