Yeah, Robo-Dog is great and I'm glad you have so much passion in developing it, but I have to say, hearing you talk so much about Robo-Dog and his abilities makes me worry a little about the pups.

Due to the progress that Robo-Dog is on right now, it may come to a point where you don't need the pups at all, and just replace them with a whole team of Robo-Dog's.

That legitimately scares me

"I would never do that! As great as Robo-Dog is, he will never be a replacement for my pups, be it the current ones or any others I might adopt in the future."

"Robo-Dog is a robot, he can malfunction, and it already happened quite a few times before. It's not impossible to hack into his system and operate him remotely, communication can be jammed to prevent him from operating at all, he's not indestructible, his batteries can go out or get damaged, magnetic fields can disrupt his systems, the list goes on and on."

"Not to mention I can't possibly program him for virtually any situation that might happen ever for him to know how to respond and act when things go different than planned. He can assess situations and find something alike to try and adapt, but he can't really improvise, which is an essential skill that's needed for a Search & Rescue team."

"If I were to have a team made only of programmed robots, even with an advanced adapting AI such as Robo-Dog's, one single issue could put the entire team down. It hardly can happen with the pups all at once. We might use Robo-Dog for driving so we can focus on our missions and rescues, we can send him to dangerous missions where we can't go, exactly on the goal of keeping my pups safe, but I will never replace them like that. Robo-Dog is here to be our helper, maybe our last resource when we can't act for whatever reason, but he's not a replacement, he's just a member of our team like any other, with his own special tasks, duties and job."

"And on a last note, the very pups know I won't replace them with robots. They accepted Robo-Dog from the very start as a member of the team, Rocky himself helped me to build him. There was no uneasiness, no jealousy, none of them felt not even slightly wary. They supported me on developing Robo-Dog for our team and now they care for him just as much as me. I've even seem some of them whimpering sometimes, like they're mourning somehow when he was taken down, and they wouldn't be back to normal until I'd fix him back up."

When the Roboverlords took over, those who cooperated or volunteered were allowed to choose their role in the new world. They were allowed to customize their chassis, given rights above the other humans that resisted, who would be converted or used as the Roboverlords saw fit.

When you explained what you wanted to become, there was no judgement from the assignment councilor, though perhaps you could hear some surprise in their synthesized voice.

Nonetheless, they told you that what you wanted to become would be simple.

After all, the robo-patrols hunting down the remaining humans needed attack dogs. Even better to have one as enthusiastic as you.

Now, just a few weeks later, here you were, on your first hunt. You'd had time to get used to your new frame, now was the time to put it to real use.

A pair of humans are running, far ahead of your capture party, stumbling through the brush of the woods as they sprint for their lives. Even so, you sit obediently on your stainless steel haunches, not daring to pull against your leash until you are permitted.

Your handler, sharing a grin with the other synths in the capture party, reaches down toward your neck. With a click that sounds as loud as a thunderclap, your leash comes unclicked.

"Get 'em." Your handler commands.

You spring forward in a flash, and you're already barreling through the bushes on all fours. Plants and tree stumps zoom past your periphery, a low, metallic barking already coming from your external speakers.

You are the size of a direwolf, but even those are a pale comparison to what you can do. Powerful metallic canine legs propel you forward, each paw adorned with steel claws sharpened to an atomic point.

The buzzsaw blades in your mouth scream into life as the runners come into view, and in the span of a heartbeat, you are upon them.

The sawblades dig into the ankle of the one on the left. He screams in agony as he falls to the ground, blood and viscera spraying from his mangled, barely-attached foot. You press your muzzle further, the intoxicating scents and tastes of iron and copper filling your synthetic senses of smell and taste with a heady rush like you'd never felt before.

The other runner, just a little ahead, curses as she shifts her weight backward, raising the bat she was carrying in an attempt to rescue her partner.

It's not even a metal bat. Adorable.

The thick wood bounces off your chassis harmlessly. She might as well be attacking a concrete wall. Without even looking at her, your long, bladed tail shoots toward her side.

She falls to the ground, screaming in pain, more and more lovely crimson blood trickling down. Her screams meld with your other victim, and you'd be able to feel your heart racing, if you still had one.

You'd love to just keep going, mangling and mauling the two of them until there were not even bones left to be licked clean... but you have your orders. They're to be brought in alive, for conversion and brainwashing, or for biomass. Whichever your masters decide.

And you are nothing if not a loyal attack dog.

The one's leg is barely attached by a string of sinew. He's not going anywhere. The other is in pain, but comparatively less injured. Your tail mostly stabbed through her meat.

Your choice made, you turn to face her. Long cables shoot from your mouth, around your now-still sawblades, embedding in her body. Her cries of pain are cut silent by the stream of volts you send through her. She shakes violently on the ground, until she at last falls still and silently.

You leave her companion where he is as you begin to stalk back toward your masters, dragging her unconscious form behind you by the cables. He calls for her as you drag her away. Let him. They'll be reunited soon enough anyway.

As it turns out, you don't have to go far. The capture party comes striding through the brush, meeting you halfway. One peels off from the rest to go retrieve the other runner.

Your handler smiles down at you with pearly white synthetic teeth. You retract the taser cables back into your mouth and sit on your haunches, panting happily.

Your handler scratches you behind the ears, pride in his eyes at the job you've done.

"Good dog."

Hey Ryder! Big fan. I've got to ask, what gadget or equipment that you are most proud of inventing or developing?

"I have invented and built so many things in my life already, it wouldn't be a surprise if I couldn't answer this question, but in fact I do have something I'm very proud of! Or rather, someone... And that's the Robo-Dog!"

"Most people seem to think he's just the PAW Patrol's driver and pilot for big vehicles, but he's much more than that. I worked really hard, along with Rocky, to build and program him to be our companion and helper for just about anything we might need! Robo-Dog is constantly being upgraded to keep up with the team's missions and due to the AI I programmed for him, sometimes he picks up on clues, understands situations and learns new things even on his own! It's safe to say he's the invention I'm proud the most so far and I have my doubts if anything else will ever be more amazing than he is!"

Do you think any of the PAW Patrol members are on the spectrum? Because I HC Ryder and Rocky as both being Autistic (it's why Rocky hates water and Ryder hates brussel sprouts, bad sensory experience)

Particularly I think the brussel sprouts thing might be more of a combo of sensory and taste, if it was only sensory, Ryder would hate a bunch of vegetables altogether. What would tell me Ryder is autistic is mostly how his knowledge on engineering for his age is just-- Miles Tails Prower level of spawning new buildings and vehicles overnight. It's canon he's the one projecting, building and maintaining all their vehicles, we see him doing maintenance on his ATV pretty regularly and he taught the pups to inspect their own vehicles and do basic maintenance as well. Not to mention he projected, programmed (and regrogrammed several times) and built the Robo-dog from scratch. That implies he not only knows engineering but also has plenty knowledge in the field of Artificial Intelligence! And he's TEN.

But for Rocky I agree! It could very well be an autistic trait. He's also extra passionate about his stuff and both his creativity and ability to learn things of his interest are off the charts. I also picture him into the ADHD part of the thing, mostly on the HD part of it. He's one of the pups we get to see doing things on their own sometimes, outside of missions. Tbh Rocky only stops moving when he sleeps, and maybe not even then XD

Personally, I headcanon Ryder, Chase, Rocky and Zuma as autistic to some degree each in different ways. As for Marshall, my headcanon on him has nothing to do with any spectrum but with genetic health. Skye, Rubble, Everest, Tracker, Rex and Liberty (the other pups I know so far), I don't have anything on them.

With Ryder and Rocky explained already, let's go to Chase and Zuma, under the cut, post's getting long again, omg.

Chase would be this one "kind" of autistic person I've met at least a couple autistic kids like him before: They get one subject to hyperfocus on and it LASTS LONG, they just don't change interests. They might go and also focus on something that's very alike to the main subject too, but they won't switch their focus target. They're also extremely perfectionists, very hard on themselves, failure when working on something is NOT an option.

Chase is pretty much like that. We know he's intensely passionate about his job as their Police and Spy pup, he follows the rules, he enforces the rules, he does all he can to make sure the task will be complete and always gets extremely upset and/or worried with the possibility of failing or disappointing Ryder (or anyone else for that matter, but it's to a personal level when it's with Ryder), to the point it makes him lose his ground, driving him into anxiety and panic attacks on the most extreme cases.

As for Zuma, I think he's one of those cases in which the person also has this hyperfocus on something and sticks with it, but to him it's less intense than Chase, I mean, to be a cop you gotta study and learn a lot of stuff. Zuma's case is that one that looks more like a very intense hobby. Getting his natural passion for water as a Labrador Retriever and adding it to a greater level of interest on water related stuff, Zuma just put together the fun and the usefulness in his life. So, not only Zuma does the aquatic rescues for the Patrol out of convenience on being the pup whose breed actually doesn't mind getting wet, he also has fun and enjoys it all.

"But that's expected from a Labrador, isn't it?" you ask me. Well, I raise you the fact that Labradors are also usually extremely hyperactive dogs, but then we have Zuma who's... Totally chill. He's there in his spot, content, just enjoying himself. He's not constantly running or jumping around unless prompted to do so, he's playful but only when the others go out to play as well. Otherwise, he's just there, just vibing. Zuma is literally that pup who's there in his corner, vibing, minding his business, until someone else interacts with him or invites him to go do something.

He's literally the chill dude who will go out to surf on his own because he enjoys it and doesn't feel the need to interact with others unless necessary - doesn't mean he's rude, it only means he's vibing his own vibes and will gladly interact if prompted to do so, but doesn't usually takes the initiative because he's already happy in his world.

JUST A REMINDER, IT'S ALL MY PERSONAL TAKE on watching these characters and thinking way too much about their behaviors outside of missions and the vibes I get from them. Mind you, I might be autistic myself but I'm not diagnosed and most I know about it comes from research I've done years ago up to nowadays, the first time being when I wanted to create an autistic OC and didn't know much about it and didn't want to get it wrong to not be attacked over it.

On This Day in PAW Patrol: May 3

On this day in 2016, Rubble dreams about saving his favorite superhero Apollo and the bunnies, and he and the PAW Patrol stop Spider King, with web balls, tennis balls, water cannons, and a big tar pit. In another segment, Zuma, Ryder, and Rubble find the hippos who were dancing away from the circus with Alex.

In 2018, the Air Patrol pups figure out why the butterflies are around Adventure Bay causing chaos. Also, Ryder and Zuma find Mayor Humdinger underground, who stole the golden Chickaletta statue.

And in 2019, the PAW Patrol find a way to stop the stinky bubbles from spreading through the jungle. In another segment, they save Olivia the Ostrich from the canyon and Robo-Dog is in charge of protecting the eggs, until it goes wrong when the baby ostriches go, "Arf, arf!"

Okay, here we go, six episodes, all premiered in the US. Pups Save Apollo, Pups Save the Hippos, Pups Save the Butterflies, Pups Save an Underground Chicken, Pups and the Stinky Bubble Trouble, and Pups Save the Baby Ostriches premiered today.
