listen, i love cillian murphy, paul anderson, sophie rundle, joe cole, harry kirton and helen mccrory as much as the next person, but if you're going to make a show about a bunch of siblings (arthur, tommy, john, ada and finn) with a half romani father and a fully romani mother (+ half romani aunt, aka polly) who are called the g slur, marry into other romani families (esme lee and aberama gold), go to romani camps (?), have funerals in a romani family's home (john's funeral at the lee family home), are cursed by other romani people (grace and ruby), speak (theorically it should be) the romani language, go to romani fortune tellers and make it a point to say they're romani, the least they could do is hire romani actors, not white, blue eyed europeans.

So, the whole Karlach/Soap thing was actually born while I was having a conversation with my lovely online friends about my faves. And together we kinda found a pattern that is both hilarious and a little bit sad. If I got a nickel every time...

Me, getting into Baldur's Gate 3:

sees a mysterious, dark, fan favourite (Astarion) and gets hooked

finds out there is an ADHD sweetheart cinnamon roll with a little agressive streak (Karlach) that is less popular among fans but is much more dear to me

gets pleased with themselves since I didn't go mainstream

learns that Karlach is, like, the only one (or almost the only one) who doesn't get a happy-happy ending (especially in the earlier patches) and either is forced into a life of constant war or literally dies

Me, getting into Peaky Blinders:

sees a mysterious, dark, fan favourite (Thomas Shelby) and gets hooked

finds out there is an ADHD sweetheart cinnamon roll with a little agressive streak (John Shelby) that is less popular among fans but is much more dear to me

gets pleased with themselves since I didn't go mainstream

learns that John literally dies

Me, getting into Call of Duty:

sees a mysterious, dark, fan favourite (Ghost) and gets hooked

finds out there is an ADHD sweetheart cinnamon roll with a little agressive streak (Soap) that is less popular among fans but is much more dear to me

gets pleased with themselves since I didn't go mainstream

learns that Soap literally dies TWICE

Ever heard of the trope "bury your gays"? Forget it, it's "bury your ADHDers" (for the love of god, please, stop, my heart can't take it anymore)

*also yes, obviously the ADHD part is a headcanon, but it's still funny to me that I see a character that I like A LOT and then go on to find out that like half a fandom thinks they have ADHD

a/n: i'm currently getting rid of some of my drafts and in the process of touching up some unfinished fics to post them.

You stand still in front of the rising flames, silent as you stare blankly into the fire.

Your sobs have now subsided to simple tears, a seemingly endless supply of them spilling down your cheeks as the image of Michael's death repeats over and over again in your head.

The brutality of it.

The sound of your own scream as you fell to your knees and cradled his head, begging for him to 'wake up, stay with me'.

How Tommy walked away from the scene without a glance back.

Michael's lifeless body in your arms, his blood soaking your hands.

The deafening silence surrounding you is only broken by the sound of fire sparks consuming the wood, which pulls you out of your thoughts and reminds you of the equally painful present moment.

Michael is gone, and there's nothing you can do about it.

You let your gaze wander to the ground, your expression unchanging. The pain seems to have momentarily numbed your senses. The only thing you fail to control is your tears; they fall freely and you let them dry in the wind.

No one has bothered to show up. Not Ada, not Finn, not even Isaiah who was once a close friend of his. It's just you and your aching soul mourning your late husband — and you can't help but wonder if Polly's spirit is here as well, looking out for you.

"I'll find him, Michael." you swallow back a sob, choking up again. "I'll find the Devil and i'll make him pay. I'll put a bullet through his skull like it was meant to be."

which was the worst season of Peaky blinders? I personally didn’t like the whole Russian business directly after Grace died. That one was hard to watch

love watching peaky blinders bc i switch from 'this is the best television i've ever seen' to 'this makes no sense narratively' in a matter of seconds. under the cut is spoilers so beware

i'm on season 3 right now and i think its good and i love a lot of the characters - particularly polly - but i think that they fuck themselves over so incredibly by having characters like grace and tommy rush through their relationship. its only been three seasons and we've seen them: experience an entire forbidden lovers arc, her leave him for america and marry another man, come back and get pregnant by him, marry him, and then die. that's crazy! and i know three seasons seem like a lot but there are only six per season! and i know there's purpose to it: loving grace brought a lightness to tommy, and with the murder of grace, will inevitably bring more darkness. still i wish it went slower so we could get time to care about these characters

Everyone else ran.

Anyone who could hide, did. Then they watched him. What would he do?

They even watched from above.

The woman he summoned appeared. She and her husband were visibly frightened.

Fortunately, he only had a simple task for her. They left quickly.

Realizing that no one was in danger of being killed or harmed, the neighborhood residents returned to their normal day before Tommy was out of sight.

every time i look at the bottom of my backpack i think of tommy shelby's tuberculoma because that's what i was watching when i sewed more canvas on top of the fraying canvas. that won't happen if you don't mend your own stuff

Hello,thanks for posting Cillian's interview, love that he's Team Grace. The show ended and I still think that the perfect woman for him is still Grace, and only her did he truly love. What did you think of the last seasons of Peaky? Tommy fell in love with Lizzie in the end? Did you like that couple? Thank you.

Hey! So here’s the thing, I stopped watching after season 3 because of Grace’s death and the direction the show was going I wasn’t interested anymore. I loved her and Tommy’s dynamic and with that gone I didn’t have the motivation to continue watching. I’ve seen gifsets so I know he and Lizzie ended up having a child who they killed off just like Grace which honestly made me glad I didn’t keep watching. I got tired of the female characters being used as props for Tommy’s pain and also tbh got tired of this man never getting a break either.

So yeah all that to say I don’t have/can’t give much of an opinion having not actually watched past season 3.
