Heading to the rooftop vineyards. Bargino, Tuscany, Italy

I shot this in September at an incredible gem of a family-owned winery in Tuscany between Florence and Siena called Antinori Winery where the vineyards and the architecture fold into each other, and you’d never guess that they are hiding terracotta vaults underground where their wine is produced. Their Chianti Classico wine is divine!

Doha officially became the capital of Qatar in 1971. The city is in an astonishing period of fast growth, partly in preparation for the 2022 FIFA World Cup. I’m really looking forward to seeing more of the beautiful development!!

Back to the 1920s. Erfurt, Germany

Erfurt, the biggest city in the region of Thuringia, boasts one of the best preserved medieval city centers in Germany. What makes it even more interesting is this: Nestled right amidst the colorful richness are some Bauhaus-inspired architectural gems. Thanks to Erfurt’s proximity to Weimar, people at the heart of the Bauhaus movement, like Walter Gropius, were often found socializing in this city. Margaretha Reichardt, the weaver and textile designer who received the 54th Bauhaus University degree, lived and taught in Erfurt.

I went on a night walk in Erfurt with Germany Tourism and was seriously inspired by the lively cultural heritage in the city. The modern, curved lines of the Bauhaus-inspired building in this shot caught my eye, and I couldn’t resist trying to capture a bit of the nighttime mood at this unique spot. Designed by Heinrich Herrling, the building was completed in 1929.
