Time to get fitter and trimmer before the Wakefield family arrives

Monday morning the scales were as scary as I expected so I took myself off for a walk run. I probably under cooked the running but in my current form I wasn’t sure. Meanwhile Jose went for a long swim. We met for coffee at the beach and then breakfast at home.

Monday was all about unpacking, washing and grocery shopping and a bit of admin. In the evening our lovely OzBrit friends Katharine and Stephen picked us up and we drove to Peratallada. I have never been to Peratallada but it is a beautiful old town about 4 times the size of Monells. As an indication there is a French movie being made here now.

We went for a stroll and up the tower before dinner at one of K&Ss favourite restaurants. As well as being a beautiful setting the food was very good. A lovely evening and hasta luego as they head back to the UK Tuesday evening for a month.

Tuesday morning it was time to get back on the bike. Jose headed out with the group for a long ride and I headed out solo to start getting myself into shape before John arrives. The morning looked iffy but turned into a beautiful morning. The first of the sunflowers are starting to raise their heads 🌻

We have a new doorbell, the neighbours dog. I knew Jose was home from his ride because I heard the barking. It sounds like it was quite a tough day for him on the bike, didn’t get much out of him this afternoon.

Late afternoon we met Marjolein at the beach. She and I swam out to the island and back while Jose had a drink in the sun. The fish were amazing this afternoon and we even saw really big fish (the size you’d see on your dinner plate) eating an octopus. I didn’t know fish ate octopus and I don’t know if they killed it or found it dead and took advantage 🤷‍♀️ ( sorry if that got a as bit Discovery Channel).

We had a drink and some tapas with Marjolein before saying hasta luego to her too as she’s about to take the boys back to Holland. School breaks up this week for the summer holidays which finish on 1 September, or thereabouts. We’ll see them again in a couple of weeks.

So now we’re home and watching the Tour de Swiss femme (replays). We were surprised and pleased that there are 3 Australian teams in the race 🎉
