Lip Davenport

Last Updated: May 23, 2024
Early Life
Lip was born to Charlotte and Philip Davenport who named him Philip Fredric Davenport III, after both of their fathers. Charlotte often claimed that their family goes back to the Mayflower, though there is no evidence that they can trace back to anyone on the ship. Though both of his parents families come from old money. The nickname of Lip was bestowed on him by his older sister, Cordelia - who he lovingly calls Cordy. He hates when people call him Phil or Philip and prefers going by Lip outside of professional settings. His father was often absent in his life, missing milestones and a few birthdays "because of work". Growing up in Greenwich, CT in a wealthy family, he learned horseback riding after being gifted a horse he named Jerry from his grandfather.
Teen Years
Lip attended an all-boys private high school. Known for being the life of the party, he always managed to throw the party of the year with Cordy, whenever their parents were away. He quickly realized he was bisexual as a teenager, taking a liking to a few of his classmates. Coming out to his sister first before his parents, out of fear that they wouldn't be supportive of him, however, his parents took it better than either of their children expected. His family being part of various country and social clubs, he found himself popular among his mother's friends. While vacationing with his family in the Hamptons at 16, he lost his virginity to one of Charlotte's friends.
Life at University
After graduating high school, he attended Yale University as a fourth generation legacy student. Studying business law and psychology as a double major, he was on the path to take a job at his father's company, Davenport & Sons. He joined a fraternity on campus and was known for hosting the biggest raggers, continuing his legacy from high school. He got a job as a tutor during his semesters and did internships over the summer. Despite being known for his colorful social life and packed schedule, he managed to graduate with a 4.0 GPA, and was the first pick as his graduating class's Valedictorian. However, he turned it down stating, "People hear enough from legacy graduates who were born with a silver spoon. There's nothing I can say that hasn't already been said,".
Moving to New York
After graduation, he received several job offers on top of the guaranteed position at his Davenport & Sons. He moved to Brooklyn, New York with the money he earned while working in college, not wanting to rely on his family name or wealth. He wanted to make a name for himself. Which meant turning down the position at Davenport & Sons, and taking a financial analyst position for Dream World Financial. He eventually left his studio apartment in Brooklyn for a lush, beautifully furnished apartment in Manhattan where he currently resides.
Romantic and Social Life
Lip's romantic and sexual flings are just that: flings. He's never had a relationship last longer than six months. Charlotte has a tendency to get a little too involved in his dating life, often chasing people away she deems "beneath him". Known for his charm and as a flirt, he doesn't find it hard to go home with someone. Always known as the life of the party, he has a solid group of friends he's collected through the years from high school, to college, to the professional world. However, he considers Cordy to be his best friend. He prefers people get to know Lip, not Philip Davenport III.
Random Facts About Lip:
He only ever drinks Dunk's coffee - his coffee order is black with two sugars,
His style is always polished. He rarely if ever wears jeans. His fits are well thought out and he does have a tailor. You will never catch him dead in a thrift store.
He considers his ass his best asset. He's worked hard on it.

Note
from what you've said about him the Davenport family seems to be the type of New Yorker that was born and raised in Fancy Connecticut. I think he knows how to ride a horse and also sail. though tbf I would be his gf for the summer he slummed it.
Oh, DEFINITELY he was raised in Greenwich, CT. He does have a horse he visits and rides named Jerry.
He does go boating every summer. They have a house on the Cape.
He's never slummed it up as a "charitable" practice. He did have a studio apartment in Brooklyn for a minute when he first moved to New York on his own because he wanted to do things himself and not rely on his name or his family's money.
He takes earning things seriously. The only time he uses his name and wealth to his advantage is flirting with high society people. Or when he wants to make a reservation at an impossible to get in restaurant.
Sometimes he'll use his name to get into a club.
But other than that he likes people to get to know Lip not Philip Davenport III.

Philip "Lip" Davenport III
Lip comes from a family of old money. His mom, Charlotte, is very "our family came over on the Mayflower" stuck up.
His entire life was planned out for him. He took a boring job on Wall Street instead of a position at his father's company because he didn't want to feel completely trapped.
He has an older sister, Cordelia - who he calls Cordy - who he's grateful for because she will inherit their dad's business not him.
Speaking of his dad, Phil, the man was mostly always working through his childhood so they're not very close.
Despite his very formal stuck up upbringing he enjoys going out and having fun - as long as it's not too much fun to embarrass the family.
He doesn't have an issue making a fool of himself as long as he's having fun, but if he makes too much of a fool of himself his mother will intervene.
His mother is very involved in his dating life and has purposefully chased people away. She is known to pay people to stay away from her son. Much to his dismay.
Did I mention he's bi? And while his parents are snobs, they're very supportive of their queer son. But Charlotte also uses his queerness for her social status.
He is incredibly charming and has no trouble flirting and dating.
He is very close to Cordy and they both have a love/hate relationship with their parents.

2022 Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List Announced
Kansas City, MO – Small College Basketball and the National Awards Committee are excited to announce the Top 50 watch list for the 2022 Bevo Francis Award. The 2022 Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List consists of some of the top players from NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, NAIA, USCAA and NCCAA. John McCarthy had this to say about this year’s Top 50 watch list:
"Congratulations to every one of the 50 players on the Bevo Francis Award Watch List.  Each player is in the midst of a tremendous season, and has helped to lead their respective teams to tremendous success thus far.  This process is incredibly tough, as there are so, so many fantastic players within college basketball. I'm very grateful to our National Awards Committee for their time and insight."
The Clarence “Bevo” Francis Award is presented annually to the player who has had the finest overall season within Small College Basketball. Considerations will be season statistics and individual achievements, awards, personal character and team achievements. This is an incredibly prestigious award, as this award will only be given to one player within Small College Basketball per season.
2022 marks the sixth year of the Bevo Francis Award, after the award was not presented in 2021. Past winners include Dominez Burnett of Davenport University in 2016, Justin Pitts of Northwest Missouri State University in 2017, Emanuel Terry of Lincoln Memorial University in 2018, Aston Francis of Wheaton College in 2019 and Kyle Mangas of Indiana Wesleyan University in 2020.
On March 15th, the list will be reduced to the Top 25 players. On April 2nd, the finalists of this year’s award will be announced, followed by the Bevo Francis Award winner being crowned on April 4th.
The Bevo Francis Awards Committee consists of the following coaches: Tobin Anderson - St. Thomas Aquinas (N.Y.), Gary Stewart - Stevenson (Md.), Chris Briggs - Georgetown (Ky.), Bill Dreikosen - Rocky Mountain (Mont.), Ryan Kane - Ripon (Wisc.), Mark Berokoff – Oklahoma City, Mike Donnelly – Florida Southern, Rhett Soliday – Vanguard (Calif.), Sam Hargraves – Olivet (Mich.), Stacy Hollowell – Loyola (La.), Stephen Brennan – Babson, Richard Westerlund – Great Lakes Christian, Chase Tiechmann – Florida College, Bart Lundy – Queens (N.C.), Aaron Siebenthall – Ottawa (Kan.), Tae Norwood – Humboldt State, Justin Parnell – Oregon Tech, Mark Vanderslice – USC - Aiken and Grant Leep – Seattle Pacific.
