Based in Bournemouth Phoebe is a young, self-taught artist with a particular passion for architecture and cityscapes and more recently, botanical illustration.

“I started sharing my art on Instagram at the age of 16. I received some really encouraging feedback and inspiration from other users, in particular from artists around the world. That is when I knew I wanted to pursue art as career”.

Architectural Studies by Phoebe Atkey

Cityscapes and architectural studies inspire her and her passion is reflected in each of her sublime illustrations, done in pen and Faber-Castell polychromos pencils. While she always loved painting as a kid, this young talent started creating elaborate building plans while pursuing her degree at Pasadena City College, and fell in love with gothic churches and their elegant designs ever since. Her illustrations revolve around the European architectural beauty, portraying majestic structures nestled in Lisbon, Monte Carlo, Budapest, Montreal, San Francisco and many others.

The young, self-taught artist has a deep found love for architecture, cityscape and fashion, her magnificent creations reflecting her passion for them. For this series, she limits her illustrations in small circles, highlighting a majestic pagoda inside, the Aurora Borealis atop a mountain scene, a picturesque rainforest with the tall trees standing proudly, waiting for someone to take the  winding path. Atkey seeks inspiration for her works from the exotic places she has the chance to visit, her idyllic paintings incorporating bits and pieces from her memory.

Phoebe Atkey Phoebe is a young, self-taught artist with a particular passion for architecture and cityscapes. A large part of her architectural and city work is inspired by places she has visited. Others are a result of commissions via her instagram page received from her many 'followers' in both the UK and overseas. Phoebe is frequently asked what tools she uses to produce her illustrations. Phoebe works primarily with pen and uses Faber-Castell polychromos pencils when colour is required. She inspired some of my drawings, I chose her to be one of the artists that I can respond to because we both have similar context of what we want to produce our work for. The places that we’ve been is like just creating an image of how we could depict something out of using some art crafts and turn it into something considerably satisfying.
