Tatreez Bookmarks, I have been inspired by the Palestinian style cross stitch and adapted these design to bookmarks. This tutorial is how I do the backs. You need to cut the aida twice as wide as you need. I have not had any trouble with using fabric glue (found in craft stores). Sometimes, I don't cut the aida wide enough and then I cut a piece of cloth and glue it on the back. These patterns were based on patterns from these websites: tirazain.com, palestinianembroider/tripod.com and a book: Palestinian Embroidery motifs by M. Skinner 2007.

Palestinian Tatreez stitched by Electronic_Gazelle_5.

Tatreez chest piece for child’s thobe. Pattern taken the book Tatreez and Tea by Wafa Ghnaim. I used DMC 99 and 94 on 18 count Aida. This is the first time I used variegated thread and I hated every second of it. 😂 The frame was heavily inspired by this post by user FrenchFryNotFrench. I’ve had this book for years and always planned to make something from it, but I felt now more than ever was the best time to honor this traditional Palestinian art form.
