Krakus Mound (Kopiec Krakusa), also called the Krak Mound, is a tumulus located in the Podgórze district of Kraków, Poland; thought to be the resting place of Kraków's mythical founder, the legendary King Krakus. It is located on Lasota Hill, approximately 3 kilometres south of Kraków's city centre, at an altitude of 271 metres, with a base diameter of 60 metres and a height of 16 metres. Together with nearby Wanda Mound, it is one of Kraków's two prehistoric mounds as well as the oldest man-made structure in Kraków. Nearby are also two other non-prehistoric, man-made mounds, Kościuszko Mound, constructed in 1823, and Piłsudski's Mound, completed in 1937. These four make up Kraków's four memorial mounds. . @krakow_pl @visitkrakow @igerspoland @krakowcityguide @beautifuldestinations @bestvactions @ig_shotz @travelandlife @worldplaces @travelandleisure @awesome.earth @living_destinations @travelanddestinations @fantastic_earth @wonderfulplaces @travelawesome @passionpassport @awesomeglobe @travellingthroughtheworld @discoverearth @eclecticshotz @theglobewanderer @nakedplanet @earthpix @earthfocus @wanderlustinitative (at Kopiec Krakusa) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHkYJ_YgUim/?igshid=1vxsjhag4fncj

Mini-photo dump with a long post because I’m going to Berlin tomorrow (for the first time ever) (to hang out with one of my best friends) (!!!!!!!!) and will not be blogging over the weekend. These are all from yesterday and today, two very lovely days (except for the part of yesterday where I forgot to ate lunch and was stupidly hangry by dinnertime).
I learned the phrase “Złota Polska Jesień,” which means “Golden Polish Autumn” and is what this type of beautiful weather at this time of year is called. Yesterday I took advantage of the weather and climbed Krakus Mound, which was possibly the most amazing thing I’ve done yet here--the structure itself is so cool and has a really interesting history. That picture of me is atop Krakus Mound, with Kraków in the background.
The first photo is of a sign in the window of a cab; I was amused by it.
The two photos of trees were both around Krakus Mound.
The steak I ate last night, at an Argentinian steakhouse. I’ve been craving steak for days, and I walked around so much yesterday that I felt like I deserved a splurge. You might be surprised to hear of a quality Argentinian steakhouse in Kraków, but it was totally fantastic. I got a beautiful salad, a steak, and a baked potato all for about $28. A splurge on the złoty is barely a splurge.
The last three photos are from today. I didn’t do much in the morning, but then in the afternoon I felt like exploring a little. I came across this French patisserie online and decided to go there; it’s located next to Rynek Podgórski, the main square in Podgórze, a small district south of the river. The highlight of Rynek Podgórski is St. Joseph’s Church, in the next photo.
This patisserie was really the highlight for me, though. I mean, I like beautiful churches, but I love cheesecake, especially this cheesecake; it was incredibly light, and very slightly grapefruit-flavored, with a mint cream on top, mint leaves, and pieces of grapefruit. It was barely sweet and so delicious. And the woman who was working there (and who I presume is one of the owners) is actually French, and I got to speak a little French for the first time in years.
The last photo I just snapped on my walk home, this city is full of elegant buildings and everything looks particularly beautiful at dusk.
I promise a full download when I come back from Berlin! Until then!

The Podgórze district was the site of the Kraków Ghetto during the German occupation. It has a very sad history.

Equal Business Park in Krakow changes owner
The office complex Equal Business Park in Krakow, designed & developed by Cavatina Holding, will be transfered to a new owner. The developer has just signed a preliminary sale and purchase agreement for four buildings offering a total of over 60,000 sqm of Class-A office space. The buyer of the well-recognized project in Krakow is a JV managed by Apollo-Rida Poland. In recent years, Cavatina Holding’s projects, built in leading Polish cities, have aroused unflagging interest among prestigious tenants as well as new investors. The rapid pace of commercialization, highest quality of architecture and excellent locations are the distinguishing features of the company's projects that attract new owners. "The process of implementing the Company's investment assumptions is extremely dynamic. The huge interest in our Park as well as the leasing processes at the building D that’s still under construction is a reason to be proud. Equal Business Park is our flagship project in Krakow, which has met with great acceptance on the local market. That fact refers to attention of new investors. At the end of 2019, Cavatina has launched five new mixed-use projects, which will deliver over 235,000 sqm of Class-A office space to the Polish commercial real estate market,” said Daniel Draga, Member of the Board at Cavatina Holding. The new owner of the complex in Krakow will be the consortium managed by Apollo-Rida Poland, which has been present on the Polish commercial real estate market since the beginning of the 90s and was created by David Mitzner, an icon and pioneer of the real estate market in Poland. The company implements development and investment projects in the field of office, warehouse and commercial properties. "We are very pleased that Equal Business Park will become a part of our investment portfolio in Poland. It is one of the most attractive office complexes in Krakow, perfectly located and offering great standard of office space, unrivalled quality of internal and external common areas as well as comprehensive amenities for its occupiers,” commented Rafał Nowicki, President of the Board, Apollo-Rida Poland Equal Business Park is an investment consisting of four class-A office buildings. The complex is located in Kraków's Podgórze district at Wielicka St. In addition to access to comfortable office space, users has the numerous services present in the project: canteen, bookshop, kindergarten, beauty salon, cafe, grocery and green areas enriched with small architecture and art. The 4th stage of the investment is currently being implemented. Building D will provide over 11,300 sq m. of comfortable space for work In total, Equal Business Park delivers about 60,641 sq m. of office and retail space. Complex was chosen by the renowned companies such as: Integer (InPost), Sii, QVC, Kimberly Clark, Aptiv, Equiniti, Kingfisher, Delphi Technologies, Regus and Krakowskie Zakłady Automatyki. In 2016, building B of the Equal Business Park complex was honored with the title of Best Office Building in the capital of Malopolska in the „Atut Krakowa” plebiscite organized by the City Hall. Two years later, the same building was awarded for its architectural design in the „Property Design Awards 2018”. The seller was advised by CBRE and Dentons and the buyer by JLL, Penteris and Deloitte. "The sale of the Equal Business Park complex confirms that Cavatina Holding is currently one of the most significant developers in Poland, which perfectly prepares assets for the needs of demanding institutional investors in terms of the length and quality of lease agreements as well as the quality of delivered buildings. The transaction and its scale shows the unflagging interest of investors in Poland and investments in regional cities. The purchase of such a significant complex is also a preview of the continuation of the trend from the previous year, which was another record-breaking time at the commercial real estate market with a total transaction volume of around EUR 7 billion," added Przemysław Łachmaniuk, Director - Investment Properties, CBRE. Podgórze is a district of Kraków, Poland, situated on the right (southern) bank of the Vistula River, at the foot of Lasota Hill. The district was subdivided in 1990 into six new districts, see present-day districts of Krakówfor more details. The name Podgórze roughly translates as the base of a hill. Initially a small settlement, in the years following the First Partition of Poland the town's development was promoted by the Austria-Hungary Emperor Joseph II who in 1784 granted it the city status, as the Royal Free City of Podgórze. In the following years it was a self-governing administrative unit. After the Third Partition of Poland in 1795 and the takeover of the entire city by the Empire, Podgórze lost it political role of an independent suburb across the river from the Old Town. #discoverpolandwiththetwistedredladybug #discovercracow #magicalkrakow #everydaylifeinpoland #lifeinkrakow #krakowdaily #igerspoland #igerskrakow #podgorze #podgorzedistrict #lasotahill https://www.instagram.com/p/Bn0p8EYHdB2/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=18guw605j19dh
