I'm just about done with the constant power outages so today I got the first few pieces of my backup system. I still need the big inverter and the batteries but I'm well on my way and I'm so excited. I've wanted to add solar since I bought this place but something else was always more important. Until now, because now I'm losing power in winter and even though my home is well insulated eventually it gets cold. I really don't like the cold. The goal is to get some lights and my furnace blower operational until United Electric plugs the hamster wheel back in. Once I figure this out on my house I have to go and do the same for my parents. This is just what you have to do when the grid is unreliable. Wish me luck! #poverty_hill #homestead #solar #solarpanels #solarenergy #gridtiedsolar #powersecurity #backupsystems #darknomore #suckituec #thehamsterdied #newadvertures #ruralpa #myhappyplace #myhappylife (at Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5gdA8Cg2af/?igshid=srvzllv3i8wy

There are a variety of reasons that people choose to make use of battery storage. In the domestic market the most common ones are to reduce the price they are paying for ever increasing electricity costs by shifting power from their solar panels collected during the day to when it is needed at night. 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏 This take-up of energy storage will only increase as its usage increases, similar to the take-up of solar panels 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏 When considering adding on battery energy storage to a new or existing system many people are considering if maybe they should wait until the expected drop in battery prices occurs. 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏 However, if you do your figures you will realize that the money you lose by not taking action now may be more than the amount saved by the expected fall in battery prices. 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏 This doesn't even take into account the damage done to the environment with the continued use of fossil fuels. You must also include in the price, the costs to the environment of waiting and continuing to harm the world we all live in by the continued use of fossil fuels for energy generation. 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏 This is particularly true in Australia where we have one of the highest rates of fossil fuel usage per capita in the world, due to the vested interests in the dirty coal production industry. 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏 If you would like to take steps to be more renewable and would like to know more about getting safe, reliable, recyclable, SoNick (molten salt) battery storage for your own home, business or micro-grid application visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au 🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏🌏 #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage #Solarbatterystorage #solarstoragebatteries #solaraustralia #gridedge #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #cleanenergy #investinrenewables #powersecurity #nomorepoweroutages #saltbattery #FZSoNick #FIAMM (at Emerald, Victoria, Australia)

*Outage Update* We are all safe and well and the power has been restored. That being said I want to sincerely thank every single one of you for your messages of concern and support. It means more to me than you know. Only about three quarters of the corn had to be harvested. Which is far better than what it looked like right after the storm. Now I have the problem of finding something to do with a big basket full of immature corn. I think I'm up to the challenge. The power came back on at ~2 am after I had already gone to bed for the night. I did the requisite happy dance, checked the animals and the house and then went back to bed. I was exhausted after thirty two and a half hours without power. For the most part I was well prepared and life went on as usual. My stress came from the length of the outage and the flat-out refusal of others to prepare for something that happens with some frequency. Leaving the responsibility of thier well-being squarely on my shoulders. That's ok, I handled it. I also had a key piece of my solar setup fail so that my batteries were no longer charging even when I was getting some sun. It has since been replaced and I have added a backup just in case. Redundancy is good. Thank goodness for that gawd-awful loud stinky generator that I hate so much. It's a good thing I had it. I've also added an additional battery, and I will be adding more outlets and a couple of lanterns for the outside areas. Other than that we weathered the storm quite easily. This weather was likely the tail end of Laura and many people are in far worse shape than we are here. I hope they are all doing well. On a happier note we got something like four and a half inches of rain according to the rain gauge in my kitchen garden and we really needed it. The storm also cooled everything down and gave us all a much appreciated break from the heat. Have a happy Saturday my friends. Stay safe, stay well and remember if we can survive 2020 we can get through anything. #poverty_hill #homestead #homesteading #storm #stormdamage #poweroutage #powersecurity #emergencypreparedness #backuppower #solarpower #redundantsystems #ruralpa #myhappylife (at Pennsylvania) https://www.instagram.com/p/CEeu4EwAZdC/?igshid=1vr7feziyhisd

Many people purchase solar arrays and /or add energy storage batteries to an existing system in the belief that this will protect themselves against power outages. →→→ However solar arrays on their own won't do this as they are disconnected when the power goes out to make sure no power inadvertently gets transferred back into the grid to cause problems with anyone working on the lines. →→→ The same applies to some batteries. →→→ Windy weather tends to bring trees down on power lines, cutting off your power supply. For many people the need to protect themselves from power outages is becoming a more and more common occurrence and it is not unusual for it to take days for the power to be reconnected, particularly if you are not on a main line and other lines take priority. →→→ Sometimes people lose power due to storm damage to power lines but often it is power being cut off by power companies so that they can do maintenance on the lines. →→→ To continue to have power when the grid goes down you need to have a battery that is capable of and configured to be able to work independently from the grid. →→→ With our SoNick battery you can guarantee power supply, even if grid power goes down and the switchover is instantaneous so you may not even realise the switch to battery power has occurred. →→→ This is particularly important to people that rely on electricity to power machines, like CPAP machines, needed for health reasons. →→→ If you would like to know more about getting safe, reliable, recyclable, SoNick (molten salt) #batterystorage that works even when the grid goes down for your own home, business or micro-grid application visit us at http://quantum.GridEdge.com.au →→→ #energystorage #alternativeenergy #Batterystorage ##Solarbatterystorage #solaraustralia #gridedge #Sodiumnickelchloridebattery #cleanenergy #renewables #powersecurity #nomorepoweroutages #saltbattery #FIAMM #FZSoNick #CPAPmachine (at Melbourne, Victoria, Australia)
