After being inspired by his dog Zack, Mr. Mohit Lalvani founded his pet grooming business Captain Zack. The brand's unique selling points are its natural active ingredients, which are anti-irritant and antibacterial as well as antiseptic, antiseptic, and antifungal. In November 2018, a group of investors provided pre-series A funding to the pet grooming brand.

Radhiya Shemchandra is the founder and owner of Funky Furz pet grooming products. India's leading pet salon Fuzzy Wuzzy Pet Styling Studio & Spa is also one of the pioneers in the Indian pet grooming market. Funky Furz has a unique range of professional grooming products for pets, including shampoos, conditioners, and grooming tools. These grooming products are specifically designed for each type of hair. You can find the products in their boutique in Bangalore or on their website. Radhiya also created a stylish range of accessories and clothing for pets.

The Indian veterinary healthcare market is the largest segment of the petcare industry. It is expected to grow at a rate of 10 percent between 2018 and 2023.

Max vets, a multigenerational super-speciality animal hospital in New Delhi, offers a unique approach to traditional veterinary medicine. It was founded in 1952 by Dr. S D Sharma. It is currently run by Dr. Manmohan Sharma's son and his grandsons, Dr. Kunal Dev Sharma & Dr. Bhanu Sharma.

Dr. Pawan Kumar's "Cessna Lifeline" is a well-respected name in veterinary medicine that brings international experience to Indian shores. It was established in 2005 as a small pet clinic in Bengaluru with the goal of revolutionizing animal healthcare in India. Now, it has expanded to three multi-speciality animal hospitals located in Gurugram and Bengaluru.

 Training your pet

There has been a steady increase in the number and quality of dog behavioural training programs. Cost of training is determined by the knowledge, skills and qualifications of the trainer, as well as the location and type of training.

K9 Dog Training School

Adnan Khan's K9 Dog Training School offers socialisation, obedience, and behaviour training for pets in the capital. Adnan says, "I believe that training the human closest to the dog is the best way to change their behaviour." She was awarded the International Commendation Award for Trainer of The Year by KCAI and the First Ladies Award from the Indian government.

Mobile Veterinary Applications

With the increasing demand to be able to digitally store and organise medical data and have access to veterinary data with a swipe of a finger, the category of veterinary apps continues to grow.

Vetco

Vivan Chopra created Vetco, a secure mobile app that assists pet owners in scheduling appointments, managing medical information, tracking their medical history, setting reminders to take vaccinations, and finding the right mate for their furry friend.

EasyVet Veterinary Drug Index

Appscook Technologies has created Easyvet, a mobile app that allows veterinarians to find the best drug for their pets from a large database of veterinary medicines. You can also track availability and file complaints online.

2018 Children’s Hospital Raffle Home

  Hello, my wonderful friends! This home was recently built by Ramage Company, with interiors by Leslie Cotter Interiors, and it is truly an honor for me to be featuring the newest Children’s Hospital Raffle Home on our “Interior Design Ideas” series. Here, the builder shares some insights on this beautiful home: “Our Park Place design, created for the 2018 Norton Children’s Hospital Raffle Home, features Beaux-Arts inspired architecture with over 3200 square feet of living space and a third- floor terrace that overlooks the community.”

I hope this home inspires those that love homes with color and character, and you can read more about this raffle on the hospital’s website.

“Photo Wallahs:” An Encounter with Photography📸  --MacDougall, David

     The only thing the MacDougalls knew was that they wanted to cover something that has rarely being addressed -- the personal meanings photographs had for people, how photographs often reflect the people’s concerns within their daily lives and how photographs are used to create and solidify identities. However, in David MacDougall’s piece, “Photo Wallahs: An Encounter with Photography”, he quickly gives some background of the history of photography in India and how it corresponds to the present day. The tradition of photography goes way back; “the first Indian photographic club was established in 1854, and by the 1860s there were photographic studios operating in the major cities” (p. 96). The paper details how photography became a major art of court life in India. Around 1860, a keen amateur photographer, Maharaja of Jaipur, created portraits with the use of the latest camera and a darkroom set-up. MacDougall makes note that the art of photography and the camera became an “instrument of power” through the British colonial administration as they felt the need to document all of the individuals who were under their rule. This “instrument of power” is present in modern Indian society as when someone goes to apply for a job, school, a license and/or exams they are met with the task to present 3-5 passport-style photographs attached to each of them. Today, more Indians have access to their own personal cameras, yet photography is held to a high standard and photographs are loved dearly as they are considered art. MacDougall’s piece mentioned that the words for ‘photograph’ and ‘painting’ are sometimes the same in Hindi. 

     First, they needed to find a location where an individual photographer served a larger community. The MacDougall’s were quite naive in thinking that a town would have one photographer that met the needs of all of its people. If a town had access to one person who was skilled in the art of photography, they had multiple and when a resident of a smaller town needed a photograph taken they would venture to the larger cities. Along their journey, they were overcome by the complexity that revolved around the photography that was present in the cities. The authors made note of how people utilized cameras to photograph tourists in Indian costumes accompanied by a stereotypical Indian scene backdrop to contribute to their monetary incomes. Just like the processes that follow the creation of various projects, they soon shifted their direction and settled on filming in a diverse (possibly just as complex) location. 

     MacDougall went into detail about consequences for using film to dive into and understand the topic they were very interested in: still images. The author points at his use of self-presentions at the end of the film and how they added to the piece of work, adding another dimension to the shared thoughts and experiences of the folk who were filmed. Not of the norm, the people who the MacDougalls filmed were surprisingly comfortable being filmed, which did not pose any real issues in regards to them opening up. MacDougall detailed that he made it a point to film an ample amount of Indian photographers and how this practice is valuable to gather a wide range of stories and experiences; also, in regards to editing, the more film, the better! Although some shots will not make it into the final product, the time spent conducting the interviews and listening to the stories of the people has the ability to spark fresh conversations and ideas that would not have been brought about otherwise. 

     The film is very flexible in the sense that it has the ability to take on a variety of roles. However, just by reviewing the piece, the film could be considered ethnographic by some, yet it does diverge away from the typical structure of the more commonly produced ethnographic films. For example, MacDougal states how the deterioration of “joint authorship” in the creation of ethnographic film has become common. The author seems to view his piece as utilizing this “joint authorship” and allowing for the creator to interpret the voices of the folk interviewed (in a respectable manner, of course). The labeling of a creation is subjective; some may categorize it as something while also categorize it as something else.
