Just finished my Pulmonologist Apt. Lung function is normal but she agrees we might not have caught an episode if it’s transient. Unfortunately, she can’t prescribe me anything until it shows up on their tests. She’s sending me a one-night sleep apnea test bc that’s all they have to test for things at home and said I can stop by whenever I’m feeling symptomatic and they can try to test it spontaneously.

She also brought up abdominal aortic issues that can be caused by EDS which was a surprising coincidence considering I just went to urgent care for new symptoms that would correlate with that. Urgent Care thought it was related to my gastroparesis so I scheduled a GI apt but the Pulmonologist thinks I should talk to my Cardiologist about it.

She believes me. Even if my oxymeter isn’t accurate there’s no reason it should be completely normal for my husband & crazy for me. I just gotta catch it on their tests before they can do anything about it.

Mandana was better in some ways and worse in others. I seem to be narrowing it down to a particular situation that gets her worked up. She’s completely fine in the waiting room even when I walk away (I did training there before and after the apt). In the exam room she wants to be all up in my lap which is unacceptable. She needs to just lay down & chill while they examine me. It seems like maybe she’s carrying over some of the stress from previous vet appointments. She’s completely fine at her usual vet but she acts like she does when we took her to the dentist or the university vet & had to leave her for emergencies. I’m not sure how to train for that besides just generalizing her mat/settle and going to a lot of boring appointments. It might work out for the best anyways. If the sleep apnea test doesn’t catch anything I could go to the hospital regularly for training and if I start flaring up they could test me.

Focused & alerting in the waiting room. She alerted in the exam room too but she was way too worked up. Advice welcome 😕

Besides all that, I asked if it could be Lupus related and she said no because we would see way more damage before it started affecting my blood oxygen levels. The only thing that showed up was my chest X-ray showed mild hyperinflation which was weird but she didn’t know what it could mean in relation to everything else and didn’t think it was related to my symptoms. I wanted to ask about the Lupus because my Rheumatology apt is next week and I’m trying to stay on top of all the questions I need to be asking each specialist.

It was another interesting, but mostly okay.

I feel like seasonal depression is a real thing, and while I’m no doctor… maybe I do have it.

However, depression is just one of the many side effects of epilepsy… though I’m pretty good and just trying to hide it under a smile for the most part.

One thing that got on my nerves today was a family member saying “you’ll get to work again soon!”

No. No, you’re not a doctor, do not say that.

You don’t know what’s going to happen, so don’t tell me my outlook is good when my doctor realistically told me it was in fact *bad*… and besides, we really don’t know what will happen.

Having epilepsy is so frustrating. I’m DRE, and I don’t respond to most medications anymore. Plus I have way too many seizures to count on my two hands a day, especially when I sleep. SUDEP is preying on me every single night.

Oh, and let’s not forget about my trashy, fluid-filled, Darth Vader lungs that also have their own specialist like my brain☹️.

So I hate it when adults say “you’ll be alright”…

Don’t lie, it’s likely I won’t, and I’ll be lucky if VNS gives me 5 years.

I don’t know, that’s my rant for the day. Adults lie to give me hope, but I’m just out here trying to live my kid life as if I’m not sick at all.

Ugh, I despise false hope😔.

Tomorrow I have my first appointment with a pulmonologist. New doctors are like Schrodinger's gaslighter. Until I show up, the doctor is simultaneously taking me seriously and telling me I'm not as sick as I say I am. I hope whoever I see is reasonable because I don't think I have it in me to be civil to people taking my money and then telling me I'm lazy anymore. I ain't got it in me.

Post-Partum Cardiology Visit

Appointment went well today, no signs of heart failure. Swelling and fluid are significantly reduced. I’m still losing weight and I can wear my own shoes and clothing again! Blood Pressure is still in normal range. Although I’m still in the critical stages of recovery all of this is GREAT NEWS! 🥳 All the doctors and staff were excited to meet Zenobia and were happy to see me standing with no wheelchair in sight!

For my PHriends and PHollowers, I plan on writing about my birthing experience with PH (Pulmonary Hypertension) soon. I haven’t been feeling up to it. Finding the words to say about a traumatic but also best day of my life… there’s a lot of feelings there! I’m still going through it mentally and emotionally.

With all said… I’m so grateful! 😍 I still have a lot of healing and get frustrated on days like this when I’m in a lot of pain and don’t feel like myself. I’m exhausted so it’s WWE Raw while resting in bed and spending time with my baby girl.

Health Update (6/14/24)

After having hematuria for over a year, I had my first appointment with my new urologist. While I didn't actually meet HIM, I met his nurse practitioners, who I absolutely LOVED! I had to fill a cup in the bathroom, which (one of the nurse practitioners said) still showed hematuria, so it's still an ongoing condition. I'm scheduled to have a scope on July 2, but before that I need a CT scan of my kidneys. I'd been wanting to have one done for years (I believe I've had kidney issues since I was a little kid) so it'll be nice to see if there's actually anything going on. Then the day AFTER my scope, I'm going out of town to see my new pulmonologist. It's going to be a very busy start to July!

The nurse from the Pulmonology Clinic tried to gaslight me about my results. I had low oxygen at the beginning and the end of the test but it was cut of on the charts. She tried to convince me they don’t cut off data and that they include everything that was recorded from the time it’s on to the time it’s off. But I know exactly when I took the test and they cut off two hours that just happened to have my low oxygen drops. She tried to tell me it didn’t drop below 93% but I literately have a time-stamped picture of it at 89% and it was lower than that before I grabbed my phone and took the picture (which I only did bc I knew something like this could happen)

It’s frustrating bc she was acting as if I’m crazy for even mentioning it but she’s not the one who put the charts together and I have proof that it happened.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but every oxymeter I’ve ever used shows it pending or a blank screen if it’s having trouble getting a reading. Not that it shows a false reading of oxygen & heart rate?
