(This is my first fanfic so sorry if some things feel clunky and awkward)

Paladin puncher was reading a book under one of the chess statues and was trying to take a break from his usual chores. He just wanted to have some alone time and an opportunity to catch up on his interests. Cal’s stage was in a early morning sky so it wasn’t too sunny. Later then, Paladin looked up from his book as soon as he saw a very familiar figure. 

“Hey paladin!” Pumpkin puncher called to him. “Oh, hello pumpkin.” Paladin responded. Paddlin wasn’t expecting his brother to visit him but he could get used to it. Although Paladin was more serious and a bit earnest than his brother, he still likes pumpkin for the way he is. 

Pumpkin puncher sat next to Paladin where he was reading his book. He also carried a basket. “What are you reading?” He asked curiously. “It is moby dick” Paladin responded. “I haven’t really gotten that far into the book but there’s this sailor named Ishmael who was signed up to go on a whaling journey.” “Wow that sounds nice” pumpkin gleamed. “So why did you want to visit me?” Paladin asked. Pumpkin puncher then took the basket and opened it. Inside were sandwiches, grapes and a cute tin metal container.

 “I wanted to share you some sandwiches and some cookies. Air cat made them.” Paladin thought they looked good but he wasn’t in the mood for eating at the moment. “Thanks but I’m good for now.” 

“Oh come on please?” “Pumpkin, I said I’m good” “Can’t you just try a bit? At least the grapes or the cookies?” Paladin sighed at his brother’s bargaining. “Alright fine, I’ll give it a try.” He took a small bite of the sandwich. The sandwich tasted really good. He was expecting them to taste good but not this good. “Hm not bad at all.” He admitted. He was then tempted to take another bite.

“See? I knew you would like them. Oh and try the cookies.” Paladin did as he asked and opened the lid of the cookie container. There were frosted sugar cookies, chocolate chip cookies, snickerdoodles, and butter cookies. Paladin went for a flower shaped butter cookie and ate it. “Air cat is really good at cooking.” Paladin said “Yeah she sure is.” Pumpkin responded.

The two chatted around while eating some snacks until pumpkin puncher decided to return back to cass’s stage. Paladin then went back to reading his book afterwards.

I love the liberal use of the abbreviation MTF in SCP stuff. Like yeah it means mobile task force but its much cooler to imagine them as a collection of cool transfems. MTF Valkyries. MTF Clever girls. MTF Pumpkin Punchers.

The Perfect Finale Ch27

All those who lived in Wonderworld could only look at the ruins of the theater with uncertainty. Without the theater, they had no way to get back to Wonderworld. They didn't know how long they would last in the real world, nor IF they would even last in the real world, given that they didn't belong there.

A Itsy Bitsy Elf that sat in Yuri's pocket gave a worried gasp "W-What do we do now?..." she asked. A Pumpkin Puncher was comforting a sobbing Air Cat "How will we get back?" A Water Blaster asked. The questions began to come out of the questions as the Negati and Tims gave worried chirps and squeaks. Even the Negabosses shrank down at their current situation. "W-Where are the maestros?" A Frost Fairy asked.

Shiro and Kuro hopped out of the crowd, and found Balan and Lance unconscious, but they soon gave their own confused squeaks and chirps "What's wrong you two?" Leo asked, slowly walking over to the unconscious maestros. Shiro began hopping on top of Balan, as the unconscious maestro began to slowly wake up "Balan! Are you OK? You look like you've been put through the ringer!" Leo asked. "Yes Leo my boy...I'm alright..." Balan said.

This caused everyone to give a loud gasp as Leo slowly backed away "You...You didn't rhyme!" He gasped. "I feel...weak..." Lance said, struggling to get up. Kuro gave a shocked squeak as he no longer saw the tentacles that came from Lance's back. "Lance...Where are you tentacles?" Rebecca asked. That's when both maestros finally lifted off the ground, and everyone gave a gasp.

Balan and Lance were now HUMAN.

"U-Um...Balan? Did Yin do anything to you before throwing you out of the theater?" Iben asked. "I...I don't know. But I can't sense Wonderworld anymore..." the top hatted human said. "Well, whatever he, it caused you to become less...maestro-y" Lora said. "What do you mean?" Lance asked. The humans didn't say anything, other than everyone pointing to a small puddle of water. The maestros-turned humans took one look in it, before giving...less than manly shouts

"WHAT HAPPENED TO US?!" Balan shouts, grasping his now black and color streaked hair. "You both became human maestros..." a dusk butterfly said. "But how?" Trisha Jane asked, not knowing how this could have happened. "Yin. He did this..." The negative Maestro deduced. "Nothing that a little magic can't fix!" Balan said, his smile returning to his face as he snapped his fingers.

A few moments passed before Balan snapped them again...and again...before he began snapping over and over again. "This usually works. Why isn't it working?" He asked. Nobody spoke up, but everyone gave a shaky point to the pile of rubble that once was the Balan Theater. The maestros could feel their hearts stop. "NO! NO! NOT THE THEATER!!" Balan shouts. "It ended up destroyed when we escaped..." Yuri said.

A dusk butterfly slowly walked to the human maestros "What do we do?" She asked...and for once. Balan and Lance were at a loss. Without their powers, and the theater destroyed, they had no way to get into Wonderworld, let alone keep Yin from destroying it.

"I...I don't know my dear...I just don't know..."

Here is the sixth brainwashed Inhabitant of my Bad Ending! AU

This is a Brainwashed! Cass. She can perform shock waves whenever she stomps on the ground, freeze time, and summon up fists that look exactly like her Nega boss's.

How To Defeat

Fighting Style #1: Cass will stomp on the ground multiple times, creating shock waves. Leo and Emma must dodge them using Air Cat. Once Cass climbs on top of a traffic light and taunts them, Leo and Emma must use Pumpkin Puncher to crush the traffic light, knocking her down. Then, they must strike her.

Fighting Style #2: Cass will snap her fingers, causing time to freeze. Emma and Leo must use Chrono Bunny in order to be able to move. Then, they must make their way to Cass and strike her.

Fighting Style #3: Cass will summon up large fists and launch them at Leo and Emma. Using Pumpkin Puncher, the two must send one of the fists back at Cass. Once dazed, Leo and Emma must strike her.

After being defeated, Lance's mark will disappear and Cass will be freed from his control.

Show of Hands... Who Likes Balan Wonderworld?

The gameplay is shit and the camera movements are janky. Like, any time I was trying to look around, the camera forced itself to look at the protagonist or just zoom in to the point I couldn't see anything. And the costumes... yeah, I don't need to say anything. The one-button system is so dumb, especially when the game takes away your ability to jump. (Pumpkin Puncher, I'm looking at you - you made me fall off the ledge into the abyss way too many times.)

However...

I can't help but adore what the story was trying to be. The idea of a magical being helping people overcome trauma and other various personal struggles is really intriguing. I really love all of the characters' designs, the boss fights had potential to be good, and Balan is just a really cool and charismatic character.

I also found out that the voice actors for Lance and Balan are, respectively, Merlin and Dr. Roman from Fate/Grand Order. (Balan's VA is also the Japanese voice of Hikaru Hitachiin from Ouran High School Host Club, which was one of the first anime I ever watched, so eee ^^)

I don't know, maybe I'm crazy, but I really enjoy the characters and premise of Balan Wonderworld.

So here's my top five favorite characters in Balan Wonderworld:

Iben Bia (The girl who didn't want to love again after losing her parents)

Cass Milligan (The girl with the kitten)

Attilio Caccini (The clown who fell in love with the princess)

a couple of fan-costume ideas i keep meaning to draw but haven’t gotten around to yet

Boom Boxer- Would be Leo’s representative costume. Chest is a Stereo, rest of design is still loose. Ability is a three punch combo like Pumpkin/Paladin Puncher, except the third strike explodes.

Dog Tagger- a costume to be found in Leo’s stage. A punk dog costume that sprays paint. Novel-wise it’d be used to leave trails in the massive maze Leo made. Game-wise it’d be used to make certain platforms visible-and thus tangible. Aims more like Bullet the kid rather than Inky Blaster.

Yipping and Yapping about Balan Wonderworld

(Minor Spoilers Beneath the cut)

You know, after seeing the trailer for Balan Wonderworld, I was so hyped! I loved his design-in fact, I totally fell in love with Balan! He just has this magnificent bastard look to him that I just love! He has that perfect blend of chaotic energy, yet benevolent intent. So much so I'm working on doing fanart for him and I haven't played the game, because I just love this design so much! Naoto Ohshima, Yuji Naka-whoever or however it was Balan came to be, ya'll knocked him out of the park!

Then you see the Gameplay and...

Sob.

I don't WANT to be overly critical for this game. I really don't, but it seems that the gameplay itself was the last thing worked on. Or, worse; it was the first thing and they never built off of it. I understand that the core of the gameplay is to have 80 different costumes and abilities and to make the game simple and accessible to everybody, but this is beyond simple. This is almost as simple as an Atari game and it doesn't have to be.

I'm not asking for a game that's got me grinding my teeth and is painfully hard-nobody wants Super Meat Boy from Balan, but it's so sad to see all this flash, to see this enchanting story with charming characters, but for it to not be fun to play.

But, you know, I still hope that Balan doesn't go into a vault and collects dust. I mean, Sonic the Hedgehog had a rough first game, but look how much people still love him! Megaman 2 had to be made during the developer's lunch breaks because it was that much of a passion project. And I heard that Balan has a novel out(or in the works? Not totally sure), so I hope that can help make up for the sales of the game. Maybe Balan can exist in another medium. Or maybe even get a second game with a refined, tightened gameplay model.

I even like his "true form", but I won't lie, I prefer Balan's top-hat-eyes looking self. :P

Hey, you're the one who kept reading, not my fault if you read a spoiler!

Anyway, I just wanna gush about the Costumes now. They're simple, and I think some are a little repetitive, but I just LOVE them all! I love their designs and event think the abilities they give are kinda fun. But it sucks you're not just playing as Balan himself. Could you imagine if the game was about collecting the Costumes-maybe re-branded as your fellow show performers-and borrowing their powers to get through the game (essentially being the secret to Balan's own magical abilities, maybe with a moral of needing to be taught that even if he's the star, the show can't go on without his other actors). Imagine if you got, like, 5 Costumes and you had to build your moveset with them, having 5 powers at the same time and needing a special zone, like a Changing Wall or something, in order to swap around your powers with the other 75 Costumes.

Hell, why 5? You probably would only need 1 Costume to get through the whole game.

Now, I don't know Jac about game design, so excuse me for talking out of my ass, but these Costumes really could've just been used to be Platforming Mascots of their own games. Just give their game a dedicated Jump Button (J-Button) to go with the Action Button (A-Button) and you could have a pretty decent platformer-preferably a 2D one, but that's my own preference.

Like, let's take Pounding Pig, for instance, for our hypothetical Platformer. He could have a decent running speed, maybe a bit on the slow-and-heavy side. You'd press the J-Button to jump, and then press it again to jump again while doing a little flutter kick. Or, press the A-Button to preform the signature Ground Pounding.

Or, how about Telepotter? He'd be a bit quicker, a decent single jump, and you'd use the A-Button to teleport, with perhaps a aiming reticle so you can aim for where you go.

Why stop there? Aero Acrobat! A jump, with maybe a glide that activates while in the air. Hold the A-Button to aim your reticle and when you release, you start homing onto enemies with those signature kicks! Maybe just pressing the button can have you kick enemies, with a 3-button combo.

Pumpkin Puncher! Pumpkin Puncher's really cool! A-Button to punch, but holding it will let you charge up a stronger rocket punch like how he does in the actual game.

X-Ray Monkey would be all about finding secrets and alternate exits to levels with his X-Ray vision! Maybe he's less combat-oriented and more about puzzle solving, with lots of movement options! Climb walls, swing on ropes, swing on bars, hang from your tail, but don't get caught!

...Okay, so I went a little crazy. And a lot of what I talked about is done in the game itself. It's just...holy heck, I love Balan and the Costumes and just wish there was more done with them! Hey, Arzest, just take all my notes and outsource other teams if you've got better things to do than give each and everyone one of these guys their own game!

Sure thing!

"Brother, there you are," Pumpkin Puncher said as he entered Chapter 7. "I was looking for you."

Paladin Puncher stopped training and looked at his brother. "Oh, you were?" He asked. "What brings you here?"

"Well, Balan insisted that I should get training from you," Pumpkin Puncher stated. "He figured that I could learn a thing or two from you."

"Really?" Paladin Puncher was rather impressed. "Well, it won't hurt for me to teach you what I know. Okay, I know something that you can use to start training. Follow me."

The two brothers went to a certain part of Cal's stage where a punching bag was seen. Paladin Puncher pointed to it. "This is where I started my training. I usually use this for free time, but since you are here, why not try it out?"

Pumpkin Puncher nodded and landed a punch onto the punching bag. It moved upwards and made its way back to Pumpkin Puncher. With another swift punch, he sent it back moving upwards.

"As long as you punch before it hits you, you'll be able to train to get stronger." Paladin Puncher watched.

"Will I become as stronger as you, Big Brother?" Pumpkin Puncher asked.

"Yeah, you will," Paladin Puncher replied.
