Happy new year!... Again
Bonus Akechi because I forgot the baby I'm sorry
Tumblr media
Akechi's yapping under the cut.
The New Year is the time or day at which a new calendar year begins and the calendar's year count increments by one. Many cultures celebrate the event in some manner. In the Gregorian calendar, the most widely used calendar system today, New Year occurs on January 1 (New Year's Day, preceded by New Year's Eve). This was also the first day of the year in the original Julian calendar and the Roman calendar (after 153 BC). Other cultures observe their traditional or religious New Year's Day according to their own customs, typically (though not invariably) because they use a lunar calendar or a lunisolar calendar. Chinese New Year, the Islamic New Year, Tamil New Year (Puthandu), and the Jewish New Year are among well-known examples. India, Nepal, and other countries also celebrate New Year on dates according to their own calendars that are movable in the Gregorian calendar.
An example of another new year is Chunyipai Losar, the traditional day of offering ( Dzongkha: buelwa phuewi nyim) in Bhutan. It is observed on the 1st day of the last month of the Butanese lunar calendar. This means it usually takes place in January or February in the western calendar. And this year falls on 12th of January. Some people claim that residents of Bhutan made their annual offering of grains to Zhapdrung Ngakwang Namgyel in Punakha on this day. The Trongsa Penlop is said to have led the representatives of eight eastern regions in their offerings, as the Paro Penlop coordinated the people of western Bhutan and the Darkar Ponlop oversaw the people of the south. In this regard, some people place a great significance on this New Year as a marker of Bhutan’s sovereignty and solidarity. However, some scholars contest that no clear evidence of such practice exists. In any case, many feel that before Zhabdrung Ngawang Namgyal’s unified Bhutan as a state, the local population in some of Bhutan’s valleys celebrated this day as a New Year. As a result, even the government instituted by Zhabdrung in the 17th century, then largely a monastic court, saw this time as an important part of the year. The retirement and appointment of high officials in the government and the monastic body took place mainly during this New Year celebration. This New Year is primarily observed in eastern Bhutan, where it also referred to as Sharchokpé Losar, or New Year of the eastern Bhutanese. However, the observance of this New Year is not limited to eastern Bhutan and today with easy communication facilities, migration of people and intermarriages between various regions of Bhutan, people all over Bhutan observe this New Year. Like other Bhutanese seasonal festivals marking a new season, the Chunyipai Losar falls around the Winter Solstice. It also falls after the agricultural work for one season is completed and before the new harvest cycle begins. Thus, it is a seasonal celebration which is aligned well with the agrarian populace.
At the end of the day this is all inane information that the artist is using to justify the fact that they are posting this drawing 12 days late and as a means to share their culture despite the fact that the artist themselves are very out of touch with thier culture and in fact forgot that it was chunyipi losar until they were reminded by thier family and did little to observe or celebrate the day outside of baking a cake with a concerningly large amount of butter.

Top 8 Monasteries And Temples You Must Add In Your Bhutan Tour Itinerary
Tumblr media
Bhutan is a small Himalayan nation that is remarkable not just for its breathtaking scenery but also for its spirituality, culture, and religious customs. Bhutan can be the ideal place for you whether you're a newlywed couple or wish to spend a relaxing vacation with your significant other. You can reserve one of the Bhutan couple tour packages, which can take care of all your travel needs, to make the trip more pleasant and secure.
Bhutan's colourful temples and monasteries will be among your trip's key attractions. These sacred locations are steeped in history, and you will be astounded by the magnificent Bhutanese architecture and detailed decorations. You may connect with the spiritual and religious attractions of the nation by visiting the stunning monasteries and Buddhist temples found in almost all of the towns and villages in the area, including Punakha, Thimphu, Paro, Bumthang, and Gangtey.
Astonishing Monasteries And Temples To Visit In Bhutan
1. Tashichho Dzong
The Fortress of the Glorious Religion, also known as Tashichho Dzong, is a stunning monastery that you simply must see when visiting Thimphu. Not only is this famous monastery in the center of the city a place of worship, but it also serves as an administrative center and throne room. You should be aware that the Thimphu Dzong, which dates back to the 13th century, is one of the nation's oldest monasteries.
The monastery's main features include its elaborate wooden windows, whitewashed walls, distinctive architectural style, and golden roofs. Remember to take a look around the monastery's numerous chapels, shrines, and temples, where you can find statues of different Buddhist deities. Make plans to take a tour of this location during the Annual Thimphu Tshechu for a very unique experience.
2. Tiger’s Nest Monastery
Tiger's Nest Monastery is among the most well-known monasteries in Bhutan that you simply must see. This is the nation's cultural landmark with a white structure festooned with colourful flags, a gold-plated dome, and golden prayer wheels. Remember to stop by and experience peace in this cave, which served as Guru Rinpoche's prior meditation area.
The 5–6-hour moderate hike back and forth to the monastery will be enjoyable for you and your adventure-seeking spouse. While traveling there, you can interact with the locals and enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Paro Valley. For a taste of real Bhutanese food and a relaxing experience, stop into the Taktsang Café or try a traditional hot stone bath.
3. Kyichu Lhakhang
Seeing the Kyichu Lhakhang should also be a part of your itinerary while booking one of the best Bhutan honeymoon packages. This sacred building houses a temple and Chorten with numerous tall statues of Red Kurkulla and Guru Rinpoche. As you explore this location, you'll notice a number of elderly residents circling the stupa and revolving the prayer wheels while reciting different Buddhist chants.
The main feature of this temple is the original statue of Jowo Shakyamuni, which dates back to the 7th century, located in the inner hall. In addition, there are pictures of curling dragons, antique pictures of the royal family, and exquisitely carved wooden pillars. The locals also think that Guru Rinpoche came to this temple in order to conceal profound and spiritual riches.
4. Punakha Dzong
The Palace of Great Happiness, also known as Punakha Dzong, is a sacred location in Punakha Valley. This stronghold monastery is extremely valuable culturally and architecturally. This temple also has a rich history because it was once Bhutan's official seat of government.
Everything about this monastery is unique and draws a variety of travellers each year, from the colourful murals and tranquil courtyards to the depiction of the meeting of two rivers. In the monastery, you may also consider taking part in the annual Drubchen and Tshechu to experience a special spiritual adventure. Attending the festival here allows you to take in a variety of traditional dances and spiritual rites in addition to seeing this architectural marvel.
5. Kurjey Lhakhang
Discover the true splendor of Kurjey Lhakhang if your Bhutan honeymoon itinerary includes a visit to Bumthang Valley. This Buddhist temple, which is among the oldest, is very significant both historically and religiously. It is important to remember that Guru Rinpoche founded Tibetan Buddhism in Bhutan, and this temple is said to bear the saint's body imprint.
The locals here think that while Guru Rinpoche was meditating in the eighth century, he left his body print here. The Kurjey Tshechu, which features a variety of religious rites and mask dances, is the main draw here. Your trip to this spiritual site will be revitalizing because of the calm atmosphere and the breathtaking view of the verdant Bumthang Valley.
6. Jampa Temple
Another historic Buddhist temple constructed by Songtsen Gampo, the ruler of Tibet, is called Jampa Temple. Constructed on the same day as the Kyichu Lhakhang, the major goal of this temple's construction was to thwart a demonic force that was impeding the propagation of Buddhism. The people here think that this Lhakhang pins this demoness's left knee.
The three stone stairs at this Lhakhang, which stand for Sakyamuni's three ages, are this temple’s key attraction. Furthermore, if you explore the inner sanctum of this temple, you will be able to see a figure of Jampa, who is thought to be the future Buddha. Among the other things you may find here are the bright chortens, the inner kora, and the Kalachakra Temple.
7. Gangtey Monastery
If a couple wants to have a unique experience in Bhutan, they should go to the stunning Phobjikha Valley. The well-known Gangtey Monastery, a magnificent monastery, is also located in this valley. This Buddhist site is well-known not just for its amazing architecture but also for the colourful black-necked crane festival that is held in the courtyard each year.
It is imperative that you visit this monastery and ask for blessings if you're planning to hike the Gangtey Nature Trail. The main attractions here are the beautiful view of the entire valley, the migratory black-necked cranes, and the four temples built in the Tibetan architectural style.
8. Chimi Lhakhang
Chimi Lhakhang is another popular shrine that is highly valued by young couples. Couples come to this Lhakhang, also known as the Fertility Temple, to ask for blessings for a healthy pregnancy. You must be aware that Ngawang Choegyal constructed the temple around 1499. This temple is thought to have been constructed after the Divine Madman blessed the location.
The Lama in this Lhakhang blesses childless couples to achieve a successful pregnancy. You will be astounded to see the drawings of the Phalluses on your route to the temple, which are truly worshipped here. In addition, couples who wish to become parents can go around the shrine while holding a wooden phallus. It takes around 30 minutes to walk from Punakha's main road through the verdant fields of Sopsokha to reach this temple.
Take advantage of one of the finest Bhutan couple tour packages and visit these Buddhist sites to fully immerse yourself in the rich spiritual and religious insights of this Buddhist Kingdom. With their magnificent architecture and views of the surrounding mountain ranges, each monastery here has a distinct charm and attractions that will enthral you.
